Gold Khamaith
Written by Masterharper
Colored by ShinosBee

User Image

Origin of Name: Khamaith derives her name from one of the Greek word "khamaimelon", which means "earth apple". It's was given the name due to its sweet, apple scented leaves.

Inspiration: Khamaith is based on chamomile herbal tea! Unlike green or black tea, chamomile tea actually comes, not from a tree but from a daisy-like plant. Plants in this family produce tea that is most commonly known for its relaxing, sleep-inducing properties. A flavonoid, chrysin, found in the plant is partially responsible for its reputation as a sleep aid.

Additionally, this is an incredibly popular tea found all over the world, and has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. Studies have found that German and Roman varieties of chamomile tend to have the strongest concentrations of beneficial compounds and nutrients that can be imparted to those who drink this popular tea on a regular basis.

Personality: The first thing one will notice about Khamaith just how incredibly sleepy she is! Yes, Khamaith loves to sleep. Naps are something this gold will happily seek out, so much so it's possible the healers will worry something is wrong with the queen! She's happiest curled up with friends and family, and will never turn down an offer to get cozy and simply sleep. Sleeping is probably her favorite activity, and it's not something Khamaith will ever truly outgrow.

Thankfully, for the Weyr, this queen is not a grumpy napper. Even when she doesn't get as much sleep as she prefers, Khamaith tends to be of a calm temperament; though her rider might get riled or angry, this queen rarely seems to have fits. In fact, as she grows, she will become an asset to her Weyr! While all queens can have a calming influence on other dragons, particularly when they're distressed, Khamaith will often be particularly good at it. Perhaps its the sound of her voice, or the sincerity behind her desire to care for those in need that often leads to the most cantankerous of spirits to relax.

Khamaith is a lover, not a fighter. Even when she is old enough to fly, aggression and anger will not drive her; love and endless amounts of caring will. This queen has yet to meet a dragon she doesn't like, or a color she spurns. She loves all within her Weyr, and will do whatever she can to make sure they know she cares. Helpful, perhaps to an annoying degree, Khamaith just wants them to know that she's there for them, and perhaps, be loved endlessly in return.

Though she is a sweet gold, she can be easily flattered, and in turn, perhaps more manipulated. She will be easily pleased by any dragon or rider that butters her up. Her caring nature, and desire to be helpful, can cause trouble among any dragons or riders that wish to use her. Her rider will need to keep an eye out on Khamaith to make sure she's not getting in with the wrong sort of crowd. Thankfully, though, Khamaith is sweet but not stupid; and as she grows, she will learn how to hold her own against those that wish to use her.

Khamaith is also a less active queen than some. Due to her love of napping, she'll have a tendency to prefer more sedentary activities. This means her rider is going to have to really try to encourage her to stay active, and that will get harder and harder as the gold gets bigger. Talking, cuddling, lounging, and sunning will always be high on Khamaith's list of favorite things.

Positive Traits: Helpful, Calming, Caring
Negative Traits: Sleepy, Sedentary, Easily Flattered

Adult Size: 44'
Physical Attributes: Khamaith is about average for a gold dragon, neither small and delicate, nor large and bulking. She is a bit of a bigger gold when it comes to her overall girth, and will likely always hold onto a bit more weight than some queens. She doesn't mind at all -- and she will remain healthy provided her rider keeps here from gorging or over eating. Her proportions are near perfect, and she moves with a lightness that might surprise some given her size.

Additional Notes: Khamaith will enjoy rising, but will tend toward shorter flights. Not because she's not interested in the fine gentlemen suitors, but because, quite frankly, she would much rather be curled up and cuddled than wasting precious energy in the air. Thankfully, she knows to fly high up, and quick, so the clutch sizes should not suffer.

During Threadfall, her stamina is on point, but her rider will need to keep Khamaith from cutting corners out of sheer laziness. She will have a tendency to pop between closer to the ground than she should, if her rider allows, or hurrying through work so she can go back and sun.

When she does clutch, she will be a happy mother. Clutching suits her well.

Theme Song: I Knew I Loved You by Savage Garden
The Light Purple Swirly Egg A large egg near the back of the clutch.

Why Me? There are many strong willed women out there, but Khamaith wanted one that exuded nothing but warmth. That is when she found Ezyzu.
There is hope that the two might compliment one another, and bring balance into one anthers life. When Ezyzu is at her hottest, like a dragon's flame, there is hope that Khamaith's calm will cool her to reason. There is no need to come to blows, no need to use harsh words. Khamaith will keep her rider in check, and be a soothing influence on Ezyzu. Khamaith will be there to remind her to slow down, and to take some time to enjoy the moment. On the flips die, when this queen is cutting corners, or taking the easy way out, there is no doubt that Ezyzu will be firm and keep Khamaith on the right path, without being too severe. Such harshness is not something this queen handles well -- when someone is too firm a hand with her, this queen is known to flinch and wilt. Khamaith doesn't do well with severe individuals, and will need her riders maternal support, and warmth, to help lift her up when she is rebuked too harshly.

Together, these two make a perfect match. Ezyzu has a desire to mother the Weyr, and Khamaith thinks that's a perfectly reasonable role. Perhaps, instead of heading the kitchens, she can help keep the weyrfolk in line with the duties of a queen rider. There are certainly enough of them to go around! At the end of the day, Khamaith will keep her sociable rider near and dear to her sleepy heart. She will be her best-friend, her companion, her bondmate, and together, they will care for their people and their Weyr.

Bronze Chonth
Written by Mx Cherie
Colored by Masterharper

User Image

Origin of Name: The name Chonth is derived from the Chinese name for Phoenix Oolong tea, which is Dan Chong, meaning single brush. The tea itself is grown on the Phoenix mountain, Fenghuangshan. Phoenix Oolong tea is carefully selected from hundreds of years old tea brushes, and cultivated to resemble particular floral aromas. This sophisticated tea can be served as many as sixteen times from the same loose leaf, giving it a power and longevity that nearly reaches that of the Pu'ehr.

Inspiration: Phoenix Oolong Tea

Grown and harvested from a single brush, each Phoenix Oolong Tea has a unique, delicate taste. This tea was one of the first to be selected as a tribute tea in the 10th century. When monks moved to the Wuyi region, they encountered this tea for the first time, and marveled at its depth of flavor. Hearing of this splendid tea, the Song Emperor requested a sample of the tea as tribute to the royal court. What arrived was a Phoenix Dragon Oolong Tea, a brick of tea compressed into the shape of a phoenix and a dragon. The wildly successful reception in the royal court spread word far and wide throughout the land, and led to a rise in popularity in the hitherto unknown tea.

Oolong tea sits between fresh, raw tea, and fermented tea. It is prepared in a seven step process, which has been carried on throughout the centuries. Phoenix Oolong tea is selected in small batches, all from the same brush. The cost is high, as each batch has a different flavor. The flavor lingers in the mouth for hours after drinking, and gives a full mouth feel. The variety selected for Chonth is Huang Zhi Xiang, Orange Blossom, named for the citrus oils that are naturally occurring in that particular blend. There are no additives to Huang Zhi Xiang, and it is prized for its floral aroma and splendid quality.

Personality: A king among kings, Chonth waited until his Bronze brothers had Impressed to make his arrival. Although he is impatient by nature, he knows the value of a good entrance, and was more than ready to make his own. He has the power to hold a room, should he desire, and the timing to enter at the moment of hush, when all eyes might turn to him. Although he would like to be perceived as wise, he is a little too quick to rush into grand deeds for true wisdom, especially when he believes that they will lend him further admiration.

But in his hearts, he is a noble soul, and truly cares about the good of those around him. Noblesse oblige, as they say. It is the responsibility of those with great power to provide for those who have not, and Chonth knows very well that the chromatics of High Reaches Weyr are in need of his protection. Indeed, might they not have been waiting for his guidance all these turns? Come, shelter under Chonth's wings, and tell him of your woes, for he has a listening 'ear'. You will find him all too willing to provide aid when the time comes, and you had best believe he is fiercely protective.

Ready to set all of his might against his rider's enemies, and the implacable, great enemy of Thread, Chonth will do what it takes to get the job done. He takes his duty very, very seriously, and will not spurn it. He does not care for those who shirk their own, although he will pick up the slack if need be. And why should he not? Is it not the greatest honor of all to be a protector of their very world?

Positive Traits: Noble, serious, ardent
Negative Traits: Arrogant, impatient, rigid

Adult Size: 46'
Physical Attributes: At his fullest extent, Chonth is as large as his clutchsire, Cordrath. He seems to take after his father in that department, although the cut of his features certainly resembles those of his mother, Susurinth. He is a handsome Bronze, and well aware of it, thank you.

Additional Notes: Chonth will only ever rise to chase a Queen. Although he certainly admires Green ladies, his pride will not allow him to stoop to such a level, or to disgrace himself by being anything less than honorable with them. As he would not have good intentions in that sphere, he will stick to Gold ladies for companionship only. He has somewhat contentious and yet fond relationships with his Bronze siblings, and feels a greater tenderness for his golden sister, and his Chromatic brothers and sisters.

Theme Song: I Need A Hero by Bonnie Tyler
Purple Peep Egg: A large egg hidden beneath the clutch.

Why Me? Every hero needs his white steed, or in Zarike's case, his Bronze steed! Zarike's keen sense of obligation to the little guy spoke to Chonth, who wants nothing more than to protect his smaller siblings, and those other, unaffiliated chromatics out there. They are stronger together than they are apart, and that's really saying something. While Chonth admires Zarike's turn to words to settle fights, if it ever comes to needing to back up those words with some muscle, well, no worries there! They unfortunately share an impatience which is liable to make lessons complicated, but with that impatience is a drive to succeed!

Bronze Lishanth
Written by Masterharper
Colored by demon_pachabel

User Image

Origin of Name: Lishanth's name is based off the Pinyin for Lapsang Souchong: Lìshān xiǎo zhǒng.

Inspiration: Lapsang Souchong is a black tea originally from the Wuyi region of the Chinese province of Fujian. It is sometimes referred to as smoked tea. It is distinct from all other types of tea because lapsang leaves are traditionally smoke-dried over pinewood fires, taking on a distinctive smoky flavour.

The story goes that the tea was created during the Qing era when the passage of armies delayed the annual drying of the tea leaves in the Wuyi Mountain. Eager to satisfy demand, the tea producers sped up the process by drying the leaves over fires made from local pines.

According to some sources, Lapsang souchong is the first black tea in history, even earlier than Keemun tea. It also high reputation outside China and is viewed as "tea for Westerners" inside China.

Personality: Lishanth is the sort of bronze who does what he wants, when he wants, and nobody is going to stop him! Where some of his clutch siblings are gentle in temperament and mood, Lishanth is loud and proud. He dances to the beat of his own drum, and could easily be considered a free spirit. Rules? Hmph. Lishanth doesn't need rules, thank you. He's going to figure this stuff out one way or another, and do it his own way.
This makes him quite a creative dragon, and means he can be put in any situation or any scenario and find ways to make it work. He's adaptable. Tradition? Bah. That just means getting fenced in, and that's not something this bronze can abide. Nobody gets to tell him what to do.... Well, except maybe his rider. That is the one person he will always defer to -- though he might grumble loudly about it.

Though he might do things differently, there is no doubting that Lishanth is a hard worker. He is the sort of dragon who likes to be doing something productive with his time; idling away his hours really isn't this bronze's cup of tea, get it? He will make work if he has nothing to do, or find something new to challenge him. If his rider is slacking, you can bet Lishanth is there to push him twice as hard! Work hard, play hard is his motto, and it shows -- he's a rugged sort of bronze, who isn't afraid to take a hit, get scarred up, or to get dirty. He'll wind up with more bruises, chips, dents, scrapes, and scars than any of his clutchmates, and that doesn't bother him none!

Some of the ladies like it, after all.

Unfortunately, Lishanth's mannerisms aren't always welcome. He is a loud dragon, unafraid to speak his mind, or to stir the pot by taking on a less popular stance. He isn't afraid to tell others that they're wrong, or call them out, and his rider will need to rein in Lishanth's more contentious opinions. Even Western Weyr has a chain of command, and Lishanth will be expected to follow it else face consequences. He is a very opinionated dragon, and will have something to say about everything. And of course, his opinion is right. Good luck to any who try to tell Lishanth otherwise -- others opinions are invalid, thanks. Lishanth knows bet, clearly.

Perhaps his worst trait is that, at the end of the day, this bronze is sexist. While he loves the ladies, he seems to think they are somehow less intelligent than him, and even other males. He will treat males differently than females, and it's rather blatant. He doesn't mean to be rude, of course not, but he does like to be the expert, and explain things to greens, and even the golds. He doesn't mean to be an a** about it, he's genuinely just trying to help! To him, ladies are something to be treasured and collected; while he will treat them gentler than any male, and even be a little chivalrous to them, he will not hesitate to mansplain. Worse, he will treat his fellow males as if they are as rowdy and as bold as he! Those who are gentler or effeminate might get picked on by this bronze, so his rider had best try to make sure Lishanth's ugly side is kept in check.

Positive Traits: Free Spirit, Hard Worker, Rugged
Negative Traits: Sexist, Rowdy, Opinionated

Adult Size: 44'
Physical Attributes: Lishanth is a whole lot of bronze. He's big, he's heavy, and he can take a hit! He's not fat, no, but he is muscular and big boned. He is a bit of a hulking beast, which makes him slow on the ground, just as it makes him slow in the air. This causes him to rely on green and blue dragon coverage more than some of his metallic peers, since he can't turn on the wing as easily as some of his sleeker kin. He can tolerate a good deal of pain, though, which is something his rider will need to watch out for, to ensure Lishanth doesn't let a wound get infected past the point of no return, or a damaged muscle get overworked.

Additional Notes: Lishanth loves to chase. He will adore chasing ladies, and even if he has a favored one (or two, or five, of twenty) he will never turn down the opportunity to show off his prowess. Thankfully, he's not a sore loser; but you can bet he'll try to find one of his old reliables to snuggle up to if he does not come out on top.

Lishanth isn't the sort to have a temper, but he can get aggressive if his rider, mother, or sisters are at risk. He's actually quite a family man.

Theme Song: I'm the Man Aloe Blacc
The Green Zig-Zag Egg A large egg off to the left of the clutch.

Why Me? Jagmund and Lishanth are two peas in a pod. This bronze was immediately attracted to Jagmund's confidence and vanity. He wanted the best of the best, and by the Red Star, he found the one. Where others out there might be overwhelmed by this bronze's rowdy personality, he knows that Jagmund can take it. He looks at Jagmund and sees someone who knows they were cut out for greatness -- and that is something this bronze appreciates. Like a boss, he will only encourage Jagmund's sense of traditional hierarchy and upbringing. Western might have its policies, but that doesn't mean they still can't rise straight to the top and look damn good doing it. He will fight the system in his own right, and they will prove to the world that they were meant to lead. Loud, proud, and in charge, Lishanth will support Jagmund's dreams, and in Lishanth, Jagmund will find his soulmate. This is what Jagmund has been waiting for, and Lishanth knows it! They might not always make friends, and might get into a few too many fights... but they will always have one another.

Bronze Moseleth
Written by Mx Cherie
Colored by ShinosBee

User Image

Origin of Name: The name Moseleth is derived from a practice that took place during the 19th century of mixing Earl Grey with gin. The mixture served two purposes: one, to cut the flavor of the gin and make it go down more easily, and two, to further protect the drinker from the unclean water of the time. When the drink came to be associated with women during the 20th century, it acquired the moniker "Mosley Tea Service."
Inspiration: Earl Grey Tea

There are a number of origin stories for Earl Grey tea, but nearly all seem to agree on the point that Earl Grey tea was originally made with bergamot oil in order to imbue it with the flavor of a more expensive tea. It first came into the public domain during the 1800s, at which time it was hardly considered to be a high class affectation. In fact, the tea itself became the subject of a court proceeding, as it was argued that the addition of the bergamot oil artificially elevated the tea, masking lower quality tea leaves, and counterfeiting a much more expensive blend.

Much of the flavor in the highly sought after Chinese tea that it aped was acquired by means of process, rather than additives. And, too, certain regions were famed for the exquisite flavor of their tea leaves. Earl Grey tea leaves did not on their own possess any level of sophistication or the complexity of flavor that a finer blend might. So the story goes.

However, there are alternative explanations for the introduction of bergamot oil. In one recounting, the tea was brought back to Lord Grey, then serving as the British Prime Minister. He was variously gifted with the tea by an envoy returning from China, or by a grateful man in mainland China itself. The latter story is the less likely, as it would involve Lord Grey having been to China, which he reportedly never had been.

Another, and possibly a more likely, explanation is that the tea was formulated to mask the flavor of the lime that was prevalent in the water at Howick Hall, where Lady Grey entertained. According to that tale, put forward by the Grey family, a Chinese, Mandarin speaking person created the tea for that very purpose. In most accounts Lord Grey is the intended recipient, although given the aforementioned court proceeding, it is questionable at best whether such a story might be given credence.
Personality: While unobserved, Moseleth is as carefree and playful as any baby dragon. However, as soon as he has an inkling that he is under another's eye, he will swiftly transform into a proper young gentleman. What's this? You thought you caught him tipping over that barrel full of a sand? Why, surely not. He would never do such an uncouth thing. Keenly aware of his own shortcomings, the young Bronze wears a veneer of grace and sophistication that does not come quite naturally.

He does, however, yearn to be exactly what his betters are. And perhaps in due course he will grow into a dragon of taste and excellence. What he lacks in refinement he makes up for in his earnest dedication and heart. Moseleth is a loyal Bronze, possessed of considerable patience and determination.

There is a streak of pompousness in this dragon that tends to come out at the worst of times, but for the most part he is really a very humble sort. He knows that while his hide might afford him certain privileges in the right place it is up to him to prove his worth. And really, he started life adrift in the ocean, quite a small speck in the larger world. He did not have the proper sort of upbringing that those at the Weyrs did, and as such finds himself with still greater a need to prove himself.

A less fortunate side effect of this need is a tendency to reinvent himself in new places. Where was he shelled? Oh, High Reaches, of course. Or was it Western? Either way, it was most certainly a Weyr. As a dragonet this sort of play pretend is harmless - as an adult, it is less so, and a habit that his rider may need to work to break him of.

Positive Traits: Loyal, driven, humble
Negative Traits: Counterfeit, ostentatious, dishonest

Adult Size: 36'
Physical Attributes: Sleek, svelte, and with an air of marked sophistication, Moseleth does not quite measure up in length or height to some of his clutch sibs. However, he is graceful and dignified in bearing, with a certain je ne sais quoi. His wings are particularly striking to look upon, and he likes to flash them about to his advantage.

Additional Notes: He has a terrible love for all things fashionable, and tries painfully hard to be cultured and urbane. He secretly, very secretly, actually favors male lovers to cuddle up to and catch. Yet in his heart of hearts he would appreciate the recognition that comes of having a gold's regard. Even if he might not return it - the cad! Oh, he could never be so cruel.

Moseleth adores his brother Harneth, and should he bond to a Candidate from another Weyr, he will make a concerted effort to maintain their close friendship though distance might part them.

Theme Song: Mirrors by Justin Timberlake
The Ducky Egg A large egg.

Why Me? Dear Kambri. It broke Moseleth's heart to feel your pain as one dragonet after another rejected you, but... but did you know that all of this time, it was your Moseleth that you were waiting for? Heart of his hearts, this little Bronze knew immediately, at that first tender touch of Kambri's thoughts, that they were meant to be. He was ever so anxious, but your gentility and consideration brought him such reassurance. He hopes that he might grow to be just as supportive in his turn. Please, do give him a chance!

Brown Aryath
Written by Mx Cherie
Colored by -_Wish of Tevarae_-

User Image

Origin of Name: The name Aryath derives from Arya, also the name of one of the tea estates where Darjeeling tea is grown. The estate was founded in 1885 under the name 'Sidrabong' by Buddhist monks. While the original factory was destroyed by a fire, the house where the monks once lived during the 19th century stands to this day. Arya is a Persian, Indian, Hindi, and Malayalam name derived from an Indo-European root word that means noble.

Inspiration: Darjeeling Tea

Cultivation of Darjeeling tea began in 1841, when Archibald Campbell was transferred from his post as a civil Surgeon to superintendent of the Darjeeling district. There he experimented with not the Assam varieties of tea, but rather the Chinese varietals. It is from the district of Darjeeling that the tea gets its name, and Darjeeling tea can be found in white, green, black, and oolong forms.

Known for its signature aroma, Darjeeling can only be found in specific tea gardens located within the district itself. It must be cultivated in these regions, and counterfeiting of the tea is unfortunately high. As such, Darjeeling is given protections akin to those of certain European cheeses and wines. True Darjeeling tea must be certified and given the official label by the Tea Board of India.

Personality: Welcome to the party, dear viewer. You have approached one of the finest things in life: Aryath. He is the creme de la creme, the tip of the top, the c**k of the walk. In other words, the best. Did you notice how he did a double spin on that landing? Of course you did. All eyes on him, because Aryath is coming your way. And you're feeling pretty honored that he's taken the time to notice you. You, not quite so special you, still are deserving of a little attention from Mr. Amazing.

While he's at it, let Aryath point out that while he has flaws and shortcomings, they are far, far outnumbered by his strengths. Especially his strength of will, because this is a dragon who believes in himself. He's a charming rascal, all right, and the trouble is that he knows it. He's well aware that he's a looker, and that he is able to draw and hold the attention of whatever his latest passion might be.

He's not particularly worried about his methods, either. As he grows he'll become all the more aware of the spotlight waiting for him at the tippity top, and he'll want to get there. If his rider fights him in their upward climb, he is likely to become frustratingly stubborn in his relentless will to be the One.

On that note, those along for the journey are in for a rough and tumble ride, because it may just be that Aryath won't care who he hurts on the way up. Once there, it will be his rider's job to maintain their position, lest Aryath grow to be distracted by the latest thing - there are a number of beauties out there to acquaint himself with, after all, and only so much life to live.

Positive Traits: Charming, irresistible, cavalier
Negative Traits: Rakish, disreputable, boastful

Adult Size: 42'
Physical Attributes: Large. Large and in charge, baby. Aryath will one day grow to be a max sized Brown dragon. His elegant markings make him eye catching, and he is well aware. A pale Brown, he might just pass for a Bronze - which wouldn't bother him in the slightest.

Additional Notes: It's difficult to tell whether Aryath will ever settle down with a one and only. If he does, it's likely to be based on compatibility, and not so much the color of their hide, or their sex. He's a free wheeling stud, baby.

His brother Lishanth is his best bro, and they're bound to get up to trouble if they wind up at the same Weyr together. If not, well... who knows?

Theme Song: Scream and Shout by will.i.am ft. Britney Spears
Peach Poka Dot Egg A large egg off to the side.

Why Me? Luiciand is as arrogant as they come, and as the son of the ex-captain of a well known mercenary company, it's really no surprise. Just like Aryath, he wants the best of the best, and won't stop until he gets what he wants. Aryath is likely to test a few things that his rider is sure of - his sexuality being one of them, as Aryath will catch any dragon he sees fit. That whole idealistic outlook isn't for him, but you know what? That's just fine. Maybe they can rub off on each other.

Brown Karhath
Written by Masterharper
Colored by demon_pachabel

User Image

Origin of Name: Karhath's name comes from the term karha which is a spice mix used to make masala chai. This may include tea leaves, allspice, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, ginger root, honey, nutmeg, peppercorn, star anise, vanilla and other spices.

Inspiration: Karhath is based on Masala Chai. Historically, Indians viewed tea as a herbal medicine rather than as a recreational beverage. The recipe or preparation method for Masala Chai is not fixed, and many families have their own versions of the tea. Most chai contains caffeine, typically one-third that of coffee (if made with a black tea base). The tea leaves steep in the hot water long enough to extract intense flavour, ideally without releasing the bitter tannins. Because of the large range of possible variations, masala chai can be considered a class of tea rather than a specific kind. However, all Masala Chai has four basic components: milk, sugar, cardamom, and ginger.

Unlike many milky teas, which are brewed in water with milk later added, traditional masala chai is often brewed directly in the milk.

Personality: Karhath is the sort of brown that has the possibility of making friends quickly. There is a warmth about this dragon that others are often drawn to, and Karhath welcomes clutchmates and strangers alike to approach. He will always welcome them with a kind word or some sort of compliment, and will not hesitate to be physically affectionate -- a wing draped here, a head boop there, he isn't shy about being physical. In fact, Karhath seems to be most content when he's touching or snuggling someone; he will follow his favored friends and clutchmates around, and ensure their tails are twined, or their shoulders are touching when they sit. His rider will find a very affectionate brown dragon, who will never quite grow out of desiring being close to his, even as an adult. Thankfully, his sweet nature means that he's rarely without some sort of good company. He's always full of compliments, and tends to keep any judgment quiet. One needn't be rude, after all.

Ah, but so much sweet doesn't come without the sour. To start, Karhath is very conscious of color and possible rank. Around metallic kin, he will roll over and submit to their demands and desires. He can get a bit agreeable, almost to a ludicrous degree; he will follow them around happily like a puppy, aiming to please, and desperate to get in their good graces. When it comes to his fellow browns, he respects them as an equal. No better, no worse, than he himself hpapens to be. Ah, but when it comes to blues, while Karhath can be friendly and cordial and affectionate around them, he certainly doesn't really find them memorable, and more often, finds their opinons of little worth.
And greens are incredibly good fun, but are rarely taken seriously. They're more of a tool to Karhath -- something to be used for a specific task or need. And whites...well, he'll be just as friendly with them as he will be any other, but he writes off almost everything they say and do. Of course, he would never, ever, EVER confess this fact to anyone but his rider -- but he can't help but follow and respect the traditional role of his birth. Make no mistake, Karhath understands the chain of command, and follow it to a tee. There is nothing wrong with tradition, and this brown wants nothing more than to take his rightful place as a cog in the great Threadfighting machine. Ah, but just because he looks up to, or down upon, another doesn't mean he doesn't like them as an individual. None of them could help the color they were born, but they should certainly accept their roles.

Karhath also has a tendency to be passive aggressive. He doesn't actually like to fight, and doesn't often understand why others get upset when he encourages traditionalism. He knows how to sugar-coat his harshest rebukes, and won't usually be pointedly aggressive. He doesn't want to start a fight...but he will point out your flaws, or things he doesn't like, in the nicest and most subtle way possible. This means less perceptive dragons might not know when they're in trouble, since he'll never want to let them know he's upset, and will do whatever he can not to rock the boat.

Positive Traits: Warm, Sweet, Affectionate
Negative Traits: Traditional, Nonconfrontational, Passive-Aggressive

Adult Size: 34'
Physical Attributes: Karhath is an average sized brown. He tends to look smaller than other browns due to his slim and sleek physique. He has a somewhat stretched out appearance due to a long neck and long tail, but has delicate bones, and moves with a swiftness many larger dragons envy. He is strong and capable, but a little low on stamina. He can make it through a full Threadfall, but tends to struggle a bit more than some browns.

Additional Notes: While Karhath has no problem snuggling and cuddling with any willing dragon, or person, he will likely only be interested in ladies when it comes to chasing. No offense, boys, but it's only proper for a male to catch a lady. Whether or not that view is ever challenged shall remain to be seen.

He gets along well with Khamaith, if only for the cuddles. He doesn't actually like Heichath, and thinks that he's more than a bit backwards. Hmph.

Theme Song: You Get What You Give - New Radicals
The Purple Patterned Egg A medium-sized egg up front!

Why Me? For Karhath, there was no one else but Gorey. The two are a like-minded match, with Karhath especially appreciating the other's stout loyalty, and his respect for authority. This brown needed someone like him in his life -- someone he could be attached to by the hip, someone he could follow around blindly, and someone he could devote himself to entirely. Karhath understands his Chosen's self-importance, and will more than happily feed into it. Why shouldn't he be proud of his accomplishments? He will do whatever he can to make Gorey's dreams a reality, and in turn, the young man will find himself a never ending stream of support.

They will be well suited at High Reaches, where Karhath needn't worry that his rider might try to start some revolution. Instead, they can rise high together, without breaking any molds, and that puts this brown at ease. Additionally, the two might help one another out during conflicts. Gorey is certainly more aggressive than Karhath, who might be able to temper his outbursts, or at least teach him how to be more passive with his aggression; and Karhath might find someone to stand up for him, in turn.

Together, these two will make a powerful match, and be well received at High Reaches.

Blue Aspalath
Written by Masterharper
Colored by ShinosBee

User Image

Origin of Name: The generic name comes from the Greek name aspalathos for Calicotome villosa, which has very similar growth and flowers to the rooibos plant. The scientific name of Rooibos is Aspalathos linearis.

Inspiration: Rooibos Tea, meaning "red bush"; is a broom-like member of the Fabaceae family of plants growing in South Africa's fynbos.

The leaves are used to make a herbal tea that is called by the names: rooibos, bush tea (especially in Southern Africa), or redbush tea (predominantly in Great Britain). The tea has been popular in Southern Africa for generations, but is now consumed in many countries worldwide. It is sometimes spelled rooibosch in accordance with the old Dutch. The tea has a taste and color somewhat similar to hibiscus tea, or an earthy flavor like yerba mate.

Rooibos is usually grown in the Cederberg, a small mountainous area in the region of the Western Cape province of South Africa. Rooibos tea is commonly prepared in the same manner as black tea and milk and sugar are added to taste. Other methods include a slice of lemon and using honey instead of sugar to sweeten. It is also served as espresso, lattes, cappuccinos or iced tea.

Personality: Aspalath is a blue that likes to keep to himself. Where some of his siblings might go right for the limelight, this blue prefers his company alone above all others. There's something pleasant about the quiet, about keeping ones own council, and this blue has no trouble amusing himself. To be clear, it's not that he doesn't like his clutchsibs, he just likes his own company better.

What Aspalath won't admit to anyone, but something his rider will quickly discover, is that this blue is chalk-full of anxiety He's a nervous little boy, who finds crowds a bit overwhelming, and there are very few out there that he actually takes comfort in being around. He gets worried about what others are saying, what others are thinking about him, and if he's actually doing anything right! Weyrlingstraining is going to be awful for this blue, who is going to get the jitters when the Weyrlingmaster's call him out to perform a maneuver or drill. This could well carry onto adulthood, where Drills make him nervous. He will do much better during Sweeps, where it's usually just a smaller group of his wingmates.

Aspalath won't ever admit to being nervous to anyone, except maybe his rider, or those he feels comfortable around. He doesn't want to look like there's something wrong with him -- he's certain there is -- but he also can't stand being stuck in large crowds and groups. So he keeps to himself, and will likely be thought of as avoidant.

Those who manage to worm their way into his heart and past his anxiety will find the real Aspalath within. When comfortable, this little guy can be quite organized and planful. He will always be on top of any task list, and will keep good time on where they need to be and when, at any given moment. He likes lists, he likes organization, and he will make sure they are never fashionably late. If his rider is a slacker, Aspalath will be there to helpfully nudge them along and keep their life in order.

Furthermore, he's a very modest creature. Perhaps it's because he suffers social anxiety, and doesn't think much of himself. Any praise will quietly be deferred; too many compliments might put this dark blue to blush. It's not that he doesn't like to be complimented, he just doesn't see it in himself, so it's very hard to accept coming from someone else. The more important or high ranking the other, the more certain Aspalath will be in thinking it was just lip-service or a mistake.

His best quality, by far, would be his devotion. This blue, though quiet, will forever be adoring to his rider; any friends who worm their way into his hearts will find a steadfast companion, through and through. When Aspalath gives his heart to someone, he gives them fully, and perhaps, foolishly. He is devoted to his Weyr, to his clutchsibs, to those most important to his rider; he would even step out and away from the shadows, and into the light, if one of his beloved and cherished friends asked it of him. Why? Because Aspalath will hold them up above himself, or his own comfort.

Positive Traits: Modest, Organized, Devoted
Negative Traits: Insecure, Solitary, Anxious

Adult Size: 26'
Physical Attributes: Aspalath is an average sized blue. He is a bit of slim blue, very bony, and trim. In fact, he seems to be a delicate eater, and tends towards being underweight than over. Despite this, he's healthy, and incredibly swift while on the ground or on wing. His tail is also just a bit longer than it should be, adding to his overall lengthy appearance.

Additional Notes: Aspalath will enjoy flying with his rider, but does not care to do so in large groups. He will not like going to Wing Drills, but he knows he must for his riders sake. What he hates even more than Wing Drills is Thread, and though he's anxious about fighting it, he will do so as honorably as any dragon.

He is picky about whom he chases, and will likely only go after those who find themselves in his inner circle. He has a secret fondness -- and fear -- of Lishanth and will admire his clutchsib even if they're separated. Molihuth is another whom he tolerates well.

Theme Song: Away from the Sun 3 Doors Down
The Yellow Egg A small yellow egg near the back.

Why Me? Erastan! Oh Erastan, your Aspalath needs you. If ever there was a dragon in need of support, it would be this little insecure blue. Though his beloved chosen keeps high walls, Aspalath will not hesitate to break down those walls, and not just see, but love, every inch of him.
Erastan's protective nature will help keep his blue's insecurities at bay -- Aspalath won't need to worry about whether or not he is bothering Erastan, and any time he feels insecure, he knows he can lean onto his rider fully. No matter where Erastan goes, Aspalath will be right behind him, giving him as much support, encouragement, and affection as any dragon could. All he wants, all he lives for, is his rider's approval; he doesn't mind if they keep to their own council, and should Erastan ever needs to lean on Aspalath, you know this blue will be there, an unrelenting force of true love. Together, they can support one another in mutual understanding. Aspalath knows what it's like to keep others away, and to have sensitive hearts. They might both have their secrets, but when put together, this pair is a perfect match.

Blue Harneth
Written by Masterharper
Colored by demon_pachabel

User Image

Origin of Name: Harneth takes his name from a popular seller of English Breakfast Teas, Harney & Sons. The company sells a wide variety of teas. Their broadest selection is in high-end loose teas, black, oolong, white, and green teas, and some scented teas, although they also carry a few herbal teas, and have a few teas available in teabags and tea sachets

Inspiration: English breakfast tea is a classic black tea blend made from Assam, Ceylon and Kenyan teas. Each black tea variety has an individual flavor profile, but all are are made from the leaves of the Camellia sinesis plant, which also produces the leaves for Oolong and green teas. Tea drinkers have English breakfast tea any time of the day, despite its name, and it's commonly served with milk or with lemon and sugar.

Personality: Harneth is a very fussy and particular blue dragon. As soon as he was hatched, it was made readily apparent that he was the sort of dragon who knew how he liked things to be, and anything less was unsatisfactory. He's more than particular -- he's downright fussy, and that's okay, as far as Harneth is concerned. Why shouldn't he like what he likes? This blue will not hesitate to tell his rider when his standards aren't being met -- the oil is too cold against his skin, the lake water is downright too dirty, and Faranth forbid you try feeding him meat that's not been freshly killed! Harneth is the sort of dragon who likes things a particular way, and when he can't have it that way, he tends to get a bit irritable.

His fussiness hasn't reached the point of being obsessive-compulsive, as he will tolerate sub-par conditions when he must; but he is known to be a bit judgmental. As far as Harneth is concerned, there is one way for something to be done, and that is his way -- should any of his clutchmates deviate from his train of thought or belief in how a situation should be handled, you can bet Harneth is telling his rider all about it. When something doesn't work, he won't hesitate to point out that his way would have been better; when someone takes too long to accomplish a task, you can bet Harneth is quietly judging the way they work. Thankfully, he's usually tactful and polite enough to keep his comments to himself and his rider, but every now and then he might feel the need to loudly suggest a better way to do something.

Harneth's fussy nature does seem to dip into that of his love-life, and that of his rider's, unfortunately. This dragon cold best be summed up as a prude. He will encourage his rider to be modest, and will certainly huff and puff when he thinks someone is coming onto either one of them. He does not care for the loose nature Weyrs are known for, and prefers his rider to be as buttoned up as a chastity belt. He will be appalled and embarrassed by anything overly sensual or sexualized, and will certainly do all that he can to get his rider out of any pants-feeling relationships, especially if they're not a long-term committed sort of deal. You can bet if his rider goes out on any dates, Harneth will be tagging along, and will not hesitate to cause a scene if he feels things are getting too hot and heavy -- i.e. holding hands, or Faranth forbid, a kiss.

On the plus side, most of the time, Harneth is polite. He is a well-mannered blue, and though he might quietly judge, or have Strong Feelings About Things, he usually keeps them quiet..prudishness aside. There's no sense in being rude, and this blue does rather try to ensure he's polite. He's always happy to help when someone is in need, and seems to adhere to his own form of chivalry. Ladies are always welcome to go first, unless there is some form of trouble -- then it is up to him, the male, to take any possible blow; he will treat females gentler than he will males, and he will expect his feather male kin to follow suit. He will never hesitate to do a good deed, and will go above and beyond when some task is handed to him. There is no doubting that Harneth is a very good dragon. He was born to fight Thread, and cannot wait to be the blue hero Pern deserves.

Positive Traits: Polite, Tactful, Chivalrous
Negative Traits: Judgmental, Fussy, Prudish

Adult Size: 25'
Physical Attributes: Harneth is on the smaller side of average for a blue. He is more sleek than burly, and can get winded quickly if he doesn't learn to pace himself. He is a very fast blue, and is great when it comes to turning on wing-tip, or changing direction in air. He will prove to be a great asset to any Wing, and will take to flying with relative ease and grace.

Additional Notes: Harneth will only chase when he feels it is right. This must be someone he loves with all his hearts, though their color matters little to him. Green, blue, brown, bronze, or gold -- if he loves them, then he will be entirely devoted to only them. He loathes heart-breakers or notorious players of the Weyr, and will not hesitate to try to break his rider up should they go after someone that Harneth doesn't approve of or find as modest and reserved as himself.

He is quite close with Moseleth, and will always make time to speak with him, or catch up with him, even if they wind up in separate Weyrs. He also gets along well with Molihuth as well, and appreciates her tidy nature.

Theme Song: No Scrubs by TLC
The Pale Blue & White Patterned Egg A medium egg in the middle of the clutch.

Why Me? Harneth is a very proper dragon, who needed a very proper rider, and Dorianus more than fit the bill! This blue adores the man's logical and passionate mind, and finds his interest in healing and surgery a very proper and respectable field. As if Harneth could be seen with someone who chose something of ill repute! Furthermore, his rider's confidence will pair well with this fussy blue, and help ensure that this dragon has a purpose, and doesn't get stuck fussing over details. If his rider says something is good enough, Harneth might well believe him! Only His has as equal taste as Harneth, after all... So Dorianus might be able to keep his blue on task.

On the flip side, Harneth's chivalry and demand for politeness might help Dorianus to better connect with his fellow Weyrfolk and clutchmates. He will not abide his rider to be rude, or to look down his snoot at those who need them. They might gossip to one another, but Harneth will not let Dorianus remain distant and aloof. They are now great heroes of Pern, and must help save the planet! They are gentlemen, thank you, and they shall act like men, not beasts. Manners maketh man, after all, and Harneth will expect nothing less than his rider's best.

Blue Heichath
Written by Masterharper
Colored by Andranis

User Image

Origin of Name: Heichath is named after the Chinese specialty of fermentating and oxidiziation of the tea leaves, after they have been dried and rolled. Hēichá (literally, "black tea" ) is commonly translated as dark tea. This type of tea is different from what known as black tea in English, which in Chinese is called hóngchá (literally, "red tea" ). The best known variety of this category of dark tea is pu'er, named after the trading post for dark tea during imperial China.

Inspiration: Pu-Erh tea (also known as aged or vintage tea) is another of China's great treasures and has only recently been discovered in the West. It is unlike any other tea in the world but Westerners can appreciate its similarities to fine wine, with which it shares many attributes.

Like the great wine regions of the world, Pu-Erh Tea production is highly regulated to ensure the highest quality and authenticity. Only aged tea that comes from Yunnan province can be called Pu-Erh tea.

The history of Pu-Erh Tea can be traced back to “Pu Tea” of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220 CE) with the drying of leaves in the sun in Yunnan province. The plants in this region have large, soft leaves spaced far apart on large, tough stems. Today, Pu-Erh Tea with “large wild leaves” is highly prized.

There is a long history of exporting compressed, aged green Pu-Erh Tea, dating back to the 7th century. Needing a tea that did not spoil on the trip, various fermentation methods and compressed shapes evolved to make transport easier. It was found that tea actually improved with age so warehousing became the practice.

Many Emperors drank Pu-Erh tea for longevity and especially liked the taste of the teas made with the finest tips. In the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911), Pu-Erh tea from Simao in Yunnan became a tribute tea by order of Yongzheng, the second Qing Emperor. In the tribute custom, tea regions were selected by the Emperor to produce tea to be offered as a gift to the royal court, which was a great honour and good for business. The last Qing Emperor Fu Yi (also known as Pu Yi) and the last emperor in China's history said “Drink Loong Jien (Dragon Well Green Tea) in summer and Pu-Erh in winter. Drinking Pu-Erh Tea is like being a member of the Royal Family".

Personality: Heichath is a shaker, a mover, and is certain he's destined to change the world. Apparently, he didn't get the memo that blues aren't meant to be in charge. Those who try to stop him, discourage him, or put him in his place, will find that Heichath simply won't listen. Short of his rider commanding him, or a gold, you better believe that this blue does what he wants.

Don't misunderstand him, though. Heichath is not a mean dragon, nor is he rude or nasty to those he stands up to. He isn't full of snark or bite; in fact, he is quite deboinair. If ever there were a refined blue, Heichath would be it. He's a dignified creature, who is open minded, good-hearted, and accepting of all types, not just those of a certain color or rank. He's also not the sort of flaunt himself in the face of those he so cleverly crushes with logic or common sense. Just because some out there want to fight dirty, doesn't mean he must continue to make a mess. No, when Heichath isn't fighting the good fight, and trying to work his way up the chain of command, he is a very smooth talker and full of manners and charm.

Ah, but Heichath is a political creature. He is too ambitious to sit back and simply accept what he's been given. If he winds up in Western, he will find himself in a perfect place to rise in power; if he winds up in High Reaches, he will fight that good fight, and try hard to show the Weyr that blues aren't meant to be taken lightly. He will cause a scene, and trouble, and unless his rider tries to clamp down on it, he will not hesitate to make waves. This could see him ousted, but he's not afraid of change. You can bet you bippy, Heichath will dig his claws in when he finds himself facing a mighty foe. Losing isn't something he's afraid of -- the louder he squawks, the more he'll get under their skin.

If his rider doesn't keep a firm grip on Heichath, he will cause trouble. Deep down, Heichath knows he's meant to be on top and in charge. He doesn't want to take orders from anyone -- including his fellow blues or greens. He wants to rein! He wants to be the one giving the orders, and by Faranth, one day he will. While he will make change for others, in his heart of hearts, Heichath knows he wants change so HE can be the one on top, so HE can rule them all. He is power hungry, even if he doesn't quite realize it; and even when he does, he'll simply hide that ugly side, and bury it.

For as good as Heichath is, there's also a bit of a monster lurking within.

Positive Traits: Ambitious, Fearless, Debonair
Negative Traits: Political, Insubordinate, Power Hungry

Adult Size: 33'
Physical Attributes: Heichath is big, bulky, and he's quite proud of that fact. He has big hands and feet, which isn't something he'll ever really grow into. That can give him a bit of an unfinished look, as if he was meant to be even larger.

Additional Notes: Heichath is an equal opportunity lover, so long as he's the one in charge. Color doesn't matter to him, though he will subconsciously look for those who are easier to mold to his wishes. He isn't a manipulator -- he just really, really, likes to be in charge.

Theme Song: Dark Horse by Katy Perry
The Yellow & Teal Egg A small egg up front.

Why Me? Oh, Dorame. Look at you. Look at what a boss you think you are! Don't worry, they'll get there. In fact, they are already well on their way, and nothing is going to stop that upward momentum, as far as Heichath is concerned. He is trouble through and through, and if there is anyone who can handle him, it is certainly Dorame. And they are not to be outclassed by a certain other Blue pair. As far as Heichath is concerned, there is no glass ceiling, and if there were... well, they'd shatter right through it.

Blue Yinth
Written by Masterharper
Colored by Masterharper

User Image

Origin of Name: In China, although not a traditional way to serve tea, iced tea gained widespread popularity in even rural areas since the late 1980s with canned or bottled tea. Many varieties of tea, including green tea, are available packaged and sold in stores. Many families make their own iced tea by either putting lots of ice in a small amount of strong hot tea or by putting hot tea in a fridge for some time. Common types of iced tea are black, green, oolong, and lots of herbals as well. Iced herbal teas are especially popular in the hot summers, where "yin" or cooling herbs are used to make tea such as chrysanthemum, kuding tea, etc. Cooled tea (but still warm) was popular throughout ancient times.

Inspiration: Iced Tea s a form of cold tea with sugar or a sweetener added in it. Though usually served in a glass with ice, it can refer to any tea that has been chilled or cooled and it may be sweetened. Iced tea is also a popular packaged drink. It can be mixed with flavored syrup, with multiple common flavors including lemon, raspberry, lime, passion fruit, peach, orange, strawberry, and cherry. While most iced teas get their flavor from tea leaves (Camellia sinensis), herbal teas are sometimes served cold and referred to as iced tea. Iced tea is sometimes made by a particularly long steeping of tea leaves at lower temperature (one hour in the sun). Some people call this "sun tea".

Personality: This blue dragon is a bright splash of good cheer! Yinth is the sort of blue who always seems to look on the bright side of life, and is the sort who is rarely down for long. If a smile could be personified, you could bet Yinth would be it. This dragon is always ready to support those in need with a kind word, and if words don't work, you can bet he'll be happy to cuddle right on up! As affectionate as he is kind, this blue is more than happy to nuzzle and canoodle with any willing partner. Unlike some in the clutch, he does respect boundaries, and also knows when to back off -- but if you give this blue an inch, you can bet he'll be happy to touch.

What is life without scritches, after all?

Ultimately, this blue is a very relaxed dragon. Very little upsets him, and he's not the sort of have much of a temper. In fact, this blue is a bit of a coward. When confrontation starts, you can bet this blue will turn the other way, or easily submit. He doesn't like aggression, and will easily flatten beneath those who exert even a little dominance. On the one hand, this works well in High Reaches -- he is happy with that status quo, thanks, and isn't going to say nary an ill word against it. On the other hand, this does make him a bit of a chew toy.

Playing into his comfort of High Reaches is his lack of ambition. This blue doesn't want to break the mold, or skyrocket to the top. He just wants to fight Thread, fight the Enemey, and keep Pern safe. He wants a cool ledge to lay on, a full belly, and his rider near -- is that too much to ask? No, this blue isn't the sort to go out of his way to go above and beyond, but that's okay by him!

In some cases, this makes the blue too easy going. While often his go-with-the-flow attitude is a good thing, making him many friends, and keeping him out of trouble, it some times goes too far. He will take being pushed around, and doesn't stand up much to himself. In other cases, he'll go along with bad behavior just to avoid a fight. His rider will need to make sure his blue stays in the kinder circles, so as not to wind up bullied into trouble.

Positive Traits: Sunny, Tactile, Relaxed
Negative Traits: Unambitious, Cowardly, Easily Bullied

Adult Size: 23'
Physical Attributes: Yinth is a small and delicate blue. He has delicate bones, delicate feet, delicate toes, and will be prone to bruising. Thankfully, he takes it all in stride! He has long, delicate wings, and long delicate headknobs, and knows he's quite a lovely specimen!

Additional Notes: This blue will love to chase. He might be delicate, but he's not necessarily fragile, even if he bruises easy. He was made for speed and making tight turns while on wing. This blue is agility incarnate, and will easily be able to avoid Thread while in flight. He's a natural acrobat!

He is very close to Karhath, whom he is always happy to share a snuggle. He's also a fan of Anxith, and has no trouble keeping her in good company.

Theme Song: Together Forever by Rick Astley
Purple Peep Egg: A large egg hidden beneath the clutch.

Why Me? Adar is perfect for Yinth in all the right ways. To start, this pair matches one another in temperament. Where Adar is focused and determined, Yinth will be there to encourage and support. No matter where Adar wants to go, Yinth will happily follow. Sort of. Unless she wants to go somewhere scary -- then he might need a bit of encouragement. Where Yinth might drag his feet, Adar will be there to encourage him; and where Adar might suddenly find herself in need of support, you can bet Yinth will give her all the love and affection she craves. She can do no wrong in Yinth's eyes, and he will make sure she never doubts herself.

She is perfection.

Thankfully, the pair are about as sunny as you could expect. With Adar's optimism matching his own, Yinth knows there is nothing they cannot achieve. Furthermore, Adar's hardworking attitude will give this blue some sense of direction; instead of wandering aimlessly, he can follow wherever Adar goes. These two will be able to life one another up, and help each other through the intricacies of life. Together, they will make a strong pair any Wing or Weyr would be happy to have. Together forever, always.

Green Anxith
Written by Masterharper
Colored by -_Wish of Tevarae_-

User Image

Origin of Name: Anxith is named after Anxi, a Fujian province. This is where Iron Goddess of Mercy tea originated in the 19th Century. The tea produced in different areas of Anxi have different gastronomic characteristics.

Inspiration: Anxith is based on Iron Goddess of Mercy Tea, also known as Tieguanyin. The tea is named after the Chinese Goddess of Mercy Guanyin, who is known in Japan as Kannon and in Korea as Gwan-eum. Guanyin is a female embodiment of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva.

The processing of Tieguanyin tea is complex and requires expertise. Even if the tea leaf is of high raw quality and is plucked at the ideal time, if it is not processed correctly, its true character will not be shown. This is why the method of processing Tieguanyin tea was kept a secret.

The top varieties of Tieguanyin rank among the most expensive tea in the world, with one variety reportedly sold at around 3000 USD per kilogram.

Personality: This green is the sort of dragon that everyone wants to be around. She catches the eye easily with both a lovely physique, and a soul that seems to shine. This is a dragon who knows what she's worth, but she does not need to flaunt herself in front of others. She's humble herself but carries with her an undeniable majesty and grace. Gold's are not the only dragon's in a clutch with a sense of worth, and you can bet that Anxith is one of them. Around her clutchmates, or even older dragons, this little green seems to know how to shine -- some dragons want to be around her, while others simply want to be her. There's just something about Anxith -- she makes friends easily, and seems not to struggle falling in with any circle of dragons.

Ah, but the funny thing about Anxith is that though she has many friends, and tends to learn much about others, there are very few who really know her outside of her rider. Anxith is a green that can keep herself emotionally restrained from others; she has no problem commanding a crowd, but she rarely seems to bond closely with those fawning after her. She tends to keep others at arms length, and only really lets her rider see all her sides. She is the sort of green who puts on the face others expect to see, and rarely reveals her true hand. This can cause the green to feel isolated, despite being surrounded by those vying for her attention.

Anxith is also a peculiar sort of green. On the one hand, she has a secret love for beautiful things. She is a green who wants the best of the best -- a beautiful weyr, the warmest blankets, the prettiest riding gear, the biggest and most tender herdbeasts. In her heart of hearts, this green wants to surround herself and her rider with beautiful things, and live a life where she lacks in nothing. Thankfully, when she does get the best of everything, this green has no trouble sharing, be it with her rider, or her friends, and those who are without. She will not hesitate to share her good fortune, which only adds to her popularity. Anxith will never be flashy about it, or make a scene; no, usually she will simply quietly, or perhaps even anonymously, give to those in need.

Unfortunately for her rider, Anxith can be a bit of a handful. Her rider is the only one to see all of Anxith for who she is, good and bad. This means her rider is often the one having to handle Anxith's quiet demands. Wanting it all means she needs to find ways to get it all; she will ask, she will beg, she will make sure her rider knows when there is something this green needs. Daily bathing, oiling, and claw trimming will be par for the course; if her bed is uncomfortable, Anxith's rider will know; if she is too cold, too hot, or has the slightest pain, her rider will hear about it. Worse, she will expect her rider to come to her rescue, and fix it so her world is right.

Positive Traits: Generous, Alluring, Faithful
Negative Traits: Materialistic, Aloof, High Maintenance

Adult Size: 22'
Physical Attributes: Anxith is a smaller green, but seems to be practically perfect in every way. Her proportions are spot on, though her neck ridges might grow to be just a bit too small. Surely, though, nobody can tell from a distance, right? Unfortunately, her stamina isn't quite where it should be, which means she can be easily worn out.

Additional Notes: Anxith is a green who will enjoy flights, and attention, even if she doesn't go out and say so. She is the sort of green who will likely fly longer than some greens, if only so she might savor all eyes on her. Due to her lack of stamina, though, she can sometimes push herself past her limits.

Theme Song: Young & Beautiful by Lana del Rey
The Rabbit Egg A small egg in the middle of the clutch.

Why Me? Anxith couldn't help but be charmed by the loyal boy from High Reaches. On the one hand, Anxith needed someone who would be devoted to her, above all else. She wants his eyes, his ears, his heart, his sould, his every fiber of being. As a high-maintenance little green, she couldn't abide anything less, and certainly needed someone who would not spurn her when they saw all of her sides -- good and bad. Adairan never need feel like a fool to Anxith -- where he is clumsy, she is full of grace, but you can bet she will never, EVER, judge. He is her soulmate, and Anxith will find him flawless -- if others cannot see it then they are fools! He is her knight, and she the princess, and someday, she knows, a queen.

His hardworking ways work well with Anxith. She is the sort of green who needs someone who isn't afraid to give her their all. Thankfully, she will make sure that her rider takes as good care of himself as he does her! She will make sure they both shine, and all praise she receives will be sent back to Adairan. He will never lack in compliments, companionship, or kindness with Anxith at his side. While he is so good to those out in the world, Anxith will make sure that he feels just as loved. She will give him all the support he needs, and then some... While the rest of the Weyr tries to figure her out, this delicate green will open herself only to her beloved rider, Adairan.

Green Molihuth
Written by Masterharper
Colored by -_Wish of Tevarae_-

User Image

Origin of Name: This green named after the Chinese Pinyin pronunciation of Jasmine Tea, mòlìhuā chá.

Inspiration: Molihuth is based after Jasmine Tea. Jasmine tea is not considered an “herbal tea” because it is actually a normal tea (green, white, black, or oolong) that is flavored with jasmine flowers to create the unique scent and taste.

China has a long and famed history with tea, and jasmine is one of the most popular types to emerge from this ancient nation. Jasmine tea first appeared in official records during the Song Dynasty, which ended in the 13th Century A.D., but at that time, it was mainly reserved for royalty. It may have originally come from Persia, through India, along with the cultural exportation of Buddhism to China.

This tea can be made in a number of ways, of varying strengths and grades. Some are made as loose-leaf teas, while others are cut up and put into tea bags. Some are rolled or bound in different shapes, like the very common “jasmine pearl”, usually composed of two tea buds and one tea leaf.

In northern China it is customary to serve Jasmine tea as a welcoming gesture to guests. Jasmine tea is the local tea beverage of Fuzhou, while jasmine flowers are the municipal flower of that city.

Personality: Are you lost? Don't you worry, Molihuth knows the way. Do you have a question? Well, never fret, Molihuth has all the answers; at least, that's what this little green likes to think! If ever there was a dragon that was a know it all, this would be the one. Thankfully, this green isn't the sort of dragon to toot her own horn, or look down on others who might not know what she knows! Instead, it is Molihuth's mission to guide others, to share what she knows through teaching. This is the sort of green who will happily help her clutchmates out when they are struggling; she will spend countless hours helping them learn a proper aerial maneuver, or even show them the best way with which to take off from the ground! From chewing as a baby, to best flight practices as an adult, this green is the sort of dragon others will look to when they want to know something, and Molihuth welcomes it.

She would never turn someone away who was in need. Furthermore, she will never turn someone away, period. She is a warm dragon who is welcoming in all that she does. She wants others around her, and most importantly, she wants others to feel as if they belong. She has a big heart, and is the sort of green who feels that there is always room for one more. The more the merrier, and even if she has unexpected guests, she will always, always, make room. She will share her kills with those who looks hungry; she will insist on staying to keep the lonely company; and she will watch over those who are hurting or ill.

Molihuth is also exceptionally tidy and clean. She will pick up after her clutchsibs, and cannot abide mess and clutter. Thankfully, she is not the sort to order others around, or judge them for the messes they leave. No, Molihuth has simply accepted that messes happen, and will happen, and she will be the one to keep things organized.

Life for this green is breezy and peachy. Unfortunately, she can be both a little predictable, and a little leisurely. She is a creature of habit, and isn't exactly the most unpredictable. She is a creature of routine, and does not often like to find new or unique ways; once she does something right the first time, she will rarely find a new way to achieve her goals. This means her responses and actions can be fairly predictable, and that she sometimes doesn't think outside the box. Furthermore, she is the sort of green who just doesn't see any reason to rush! Life is chaotic, and while she will keep up with her siblings, she isn't the sort to rush. Yes, Thread will fall, and she will burn it, but she needn't lose her head over it. Does it matter if she gets to her drill a few moments late? Not at all, when Thread doesn't even begin for another two hours. Really now, there is no hurry; all in due time, love.

Perhaps her biggest flaw is a tendency to get bossy. She isn't the sort who pushes people around cruelly -- in fact, many times those she is bossing don't even see it in her -- but she does rather like to get her way. She will tell people what to do, and how to do it, but in the most kind and amiable of ways possible. Molihuth knows best, after all.

Positive Traits: Welcoming, Teacherly, Tidy
Negative Traits: Leisurely, Predictable, Bossy

Adult Size: 27'
Physical Attributes: Molihuth is a large green in all senses of the word. She has big feet, she has big wings, and she has a big belly. Yes, this green will always be one of the heavier ladies of her clutch, but she doesn't seem to mind at all!

Additional Notes: Though she is larger than some of her greens, Molihuth has great stamina, and has an exceptionally long and hot flame. Though her agility might be compromised by her larger size, she will have a strong flame drive, and will be well desired in many wings due to her flaming skill.

Theme Song: Unwritten Natasha Bedingfield
The Pale Pink & White Striped Egg A small egg sitting up front.

Why Me? If there was any dragon in this clutch who could give Beligian a helping wing, it would be his own dear Molihuth. From the moment this green broke her shell, she knew her perfect match, inside and out. To start, the young man has a good and warm heart, which is an absolute must for the gentle Molihuth. She is known to be a talkative and curious green; she will be asking Beligian all sorts of questions, and even if he doesn't know, will expect them to seek out the right answers. As she grows and learns more, she won't hesitate to tell Beligian all about what she's learned, what's done, and who she's helped. He is a great listener, and Molihuth will be glad of such a thing! She is the sort of green who cares deeply, and loves all of those under her wing, which will match up nicely with Beligian's maternal nature. He can be as affectionate and touchy-feely with her as he needs to be -- she will never turn down cuddles from her beloved!

Molihuth will fuss over Beligian like a mother hen, and make sure that he's eating enough, cleaned, and on time. Her calm influence will hopefully keep him from being too startled; and she will always be there to keep an eye on him! Where Beligian wants to make others feel better, Molihuth will ensure that her rider is cared for, now and forever.

Green Sahrawith

Origin of Name: The origin of the name Sahrawith is simply Sahrawi, one of the many names of Moroccan Mint tea. It is the name of a people living in the Western part of the Sahara desert. Sahrawi is derived from the Arabic word for desert, Sahra. Descended from a Berber tribe, and the Arabic, Islamic warrior tribes that overtook their people, the Sahrawi are a part of a complex caste based society. At the top is the warrior caste, followed by the scholar caste, the professional caste, the laborer caste, the servant caste, and finally the slaves. As with many people in the region, the Sahrawi are of a very mixed descent - the region was once the nexus of trade, and as such a wealth of genetic diversity exists in and near Morocco. The use of camels for long journeys was not endemic to the Sahrawi, but they are camel traders to this day.

Inspiration: Moroccan Mint Tea

The great Moroccan scholar Muhammad Ibn Battuta, born in the 14th century, traveled throughout the Muslim world, and far beyond, even so far as China. It is in China where he was thought to have encountered tea, if the record of his travels is to be believed. Tea may have come into use in Morocco as early as two centuries before that time, but it is unclear what the actual timeline might have been. If the tea plant was imported by Ibn Battuta, it took a winding route to return with him to his homeland.

When preparing mint tea, one boils the tea with half a liter of water. The tea is then strained to remove any particles. While the tea is hot, one stirs in sugar, and then finally adds fresh mint leaves. In wintertime, mint leaves are sometimes replaced by wormwood leaves, which do not have as sweet of a flavor. Gunpowder green tea is commonly used to form the base, or else some other strong Chinese tea.

Depending on the brewer, a more complicated method may be used, which involves several ceremonial steps. The tea is served three times by tradition, and there is a proverb that quite accurately describes the flavor at each presentation.

"The first glass is as gentle as life,
the second is as strong as love,
the third is as bitter as death."

Personality: If there was ever a dragonet hatched to see the world, it would be Sahrawith. From the very first moment her wings break shell, she'll want to use them to discover every corner of Pern, charted and uncharted. Nothing would please Sahrawith more than if her bondmate chose to turn their back on Weyrs and duty. However, she does have a niggling sense of guilt over how easy it would be to leave it all behind. She has a deep love for her family, and it is more than convenient that a number of her clutchmates are across Pern from her! It's just a lovely excuse to explore.

If anyone is basing the success of their venture on Sahrawith's participation, they might as well give up now, unless they're hoping to con someone into taking them some place they're not meant to be. She's terribly good at that, although it's a little unclear whether such glibness will serve her well in the long run. Talking herself into trouble probably isn't the brightest plan, but even this shining star has her dim moments.

And oh my goodness, there are shiny things to enjoy! Please, let her try that caprine, and-- wait, come back with that bit of sparkle! If left to her own devices she might have trouble getting off of the ground, for all of the glittering accessories that she'll want to wear. Of course, it's entirely possible that her rider won't be in a position to spoil her as much as she might wish, but in that case just leave it to her phenomenal silver tongue. Where there's a will, there's a way, and Sahrawith is willing to waggle her way to success if that's what it takes.

To believe her, she's been to the Red Star herself. Visited Ista lately? Sahrawith has. And it was pretty rad. She's got stories, each a little less believable than the last, but the important thing is that the listener is entertained, isn't it? When it comes to facing reality she's hard to tie down, and she wants nothing to do with day to day life unless she has something to look forward to. So, why not spice it up a bit?

Positive Traits: Adventurous, devoted, curious
Negative Traits: Acquisitive, flaky, hyperbolic

Adult Size: 20'
Physical Attributes: Visually stunning, Sahrawith is a pale green with intricate patterns on her wings and back. She is a fairly delicate creature, on the smaller side for a Green.

Additional Notes: Super best friends with Zhuchath. In fact, there might be a little more than friendship there, but don't tell anyone. Shh. When it comes to Flights, Sahrawith is going to be a wild one. The sky isn't just the limit, it's the goal!

Theme Song: These Boots Are Made For Walkin' by Nancy Sinatra
The Solid Pink Egg A medium sized egg to the side.

Why Me? Renose is just the right kind of wrong for Sahrawith! She loves how free spirited he is, and how he marches to the beat of his own drum. When it comes to getting her way, she could use a few pointers. C'mon, Renose, let's go! There's a whole world to see, and Sahrawith just wants to get started! If he chafes at the restraints imposed by duty, she's stifled by them. Nothing and no one can hold her back from her end goal, and maybe he'd like to be there to see it through.

Green Saith
Written by demon_pachabel
Colored by demon_pachabel

User Image

Origin of Name: Saith's name pays tribute to Myōan Eisai. He was a Japanese Buddhist priest, credited with bringing both the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism and green tea from China to Japan.

Inspiration: Matcha is finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves. It is special in two aspects of farming and processing: the green tea plants for matcha are shade-grown for about three weeks before harvest and the stems and veins are removed in processing. The powdered form of matcha is usually whisked into water or milk.

The traditional Japanese tea ceremony centers on the preparation, serving, and drinking of matcha as hot tea and embodies a meditative spiritual style. In modern times, matcha also has come to be used to flavor and dye foods such as mochi and soba noodles, green tea ice cream, matcha lattes, and a variety of Japanese wagashi confectionery. The powder itself is sometimes flavored as well.

Personality: This delicate looking green is as surefooted and certain as any dragon could possibly be. Right out of the shell, Saith’s unshakable and calm headed personality began to shine. Even hatched into uncertain beginnings with the unknown ahead of her, she had all of her ducks in a row and never worried that hers would not be there. There is no doubt that exists innately in this little lady's heart.

If there were to be a dragon that could and would be baited into a trust fall exercise time and time again, it is Saith. As she is ready to play her own part, she fully believes everybody will also play theirs without second guessing it or looking before she leaps. Those around her will have her full trust - no questions asked. In turn, if there was any dragon that could be trusted at solely her word, it is none other than Saith. If she says she’ll be there, she will move Thread and Between to be exactly where and when she promised. Those who break their promises to her, no matter the size, will find themselves scorned by the green and as she grows older, Saith will be more obvious in her distaste.

Saith is very careful to not overpromise herself and will be prone to double - or even triple - checking any arrangements she makes. Her bonded better be ready to get a headful of reminders because this green will inform them repeatedly - and double check with them at any slight inkling of doubt. Any arrangements they make will be similarly tucked away by this little lady and if they ever even dream of being late she’ll drop them off 5 minutes early - even if this means cutting both of their breakfasts short!

Even those who have earned Saith’s scorn for previously broken promises will find she will agreeably work with anybody - whether they come looking for her to guide them or for her to fall into line to help with a task they’re leading in. This little lady is ready to be what others may need in a pinch - or to help her bonded be exactly what they want to. Whether that means becoming a leader to take hers as high as they want to go or falling back for less limelight, Saith will be content.

As organized as she is, this little green often will miss jokes - especially well played ones - completely, and even if she doesn’t will take longer than usual to get them. More often than not, the punchline will have to be explained. Fortunately, she doesn’t get frustrated or embarrassed about this and who knows, maybe someday she’ll be the one to pull out the mother of all jokes when nobody is expecting it.

Positive Traits: Unshakable, Trusting, Reliable, Adaptable
Negative Traits: Overly Trusting, OCD, Scornful, Dry

Adult Size: 22'
Physical Attributes: Saith is very delicately built, with slender limbs, a short neck, and a long tail. She will be great at agility, but is fragile and prone to bruising if hit too hard.

Additional Notes: Saith will never enjoy particularly warm days or particularly cold nights. If not promised to other things, she will always find a nice place to cool off and even if too big will try to burrow under her bonded's blanket with them.

Blue Flower Egg A medium sized egg.
Theme Song: Stand By Me performed by Florence & The Machine

Why Me? Raelin's strong work ethic appeals to Saith, who wishes everything to be just so. Mine, won't you please move those rocks two inches to the right? Both of them find honesty to be an important quality, and Saith appreciates Raelin's commitment not only to her, but to everything she sets her mind to. They both have their idiosyncrasies, and that makes them a stronger pair by far. Don't worry, Raelin. With Saith's help, you will get that task just right. ... Err, a little to the left. There.
