Gogdamn did Chiara have a rockin' body. Forera grinned at the seemingly excited troll, watching carefully as she jumped and swung her hips back and forth. She was mesmerized. The tealblood jogged over next to her, bumping her with her own hips a little before looking down the corridor they'd just entered-- "Ehh, nothin' in here!"

Moving down a hall way he paused before he went down it. "Wait here..I'll scout ahead and see if anything good is down this way." He offered before walking with purpose down the hall way. Keeping a low profile, he walked with soft footfall so not to alert any undead to his position, as he quickly went to explore. Finding nothing, he shook his head as he made his way back to the group.

"Just a long empty corridor..no door, or unfriendlies to speak of." He added.

: Forera was bitter. She was definitely bitter and irrittated and angry that the blueblood had been so easily snatched up by the yellowblood because of his dumb, shiny powers. They were nothing compared to her strength. She made this known as she trotted into the open room and threw things around under the guise of searching, only to actually find something useful. "Yo, ya'll, what is this...?"

She touched his hair. The feeling sent a chill down his spine as he stared with a wide eyed expression. Instinctively he pulled back some, shying away from the touch. Stryke even glared slightly from the invasion of his space. He let out a small huff of disapproval as if he knew she was entertained by his being uncomfortable.

Peeking over Forera's shoulder he looked surprised. "Hey...there is actually a door close by." He studied the map, having experience with reading them as he himself made them. Moving ahead a bit, he came across a door. Crouching down he investigated the door. It appeared to be not only locked, but booby trapped. Hm. "I can handle the trap mechanism if sometroll doesn't mind breaking the door or the lock?" He had only see Forera at work, but for all he knew either the tealblood or redblood handle it.

For the moment he busied himself with disarming the traps to make the door safe to break in.

This is a mini-boss battle, the full rules and mechanics of which can be reviewed here.
The room beyond the door seems empty from the hallway, but stepping inside you are swiftly aware that you are not alone! For lurking in the corner is a dark groaning shape. As it turns towards you, you realize you are entering strife!
You have encountered a ...

Dice 1
1. ... Horrific... (-2 on all attacks)
2. ... Agile... (-1 on accuracy rolls)
3. ... Contorting... (-2 on all accuracy rolls)
4. ... Preserved ... (-1 on all attacks)
Dice 2
1. ... Toxic... (Players take 2 extra damage per turn)
2. ... Relentless... (Players take 2x damage on the lowest accuracy roll)
3. ... Empowered... (using artifacts/ability/items deals 3 dmg to the entire party)
4. ... Burning... (take an extra 3 dmg each time you deal max damage (highest roll possible for weapon or damage-dealing skill))
Dice 3
1. ...Wailing Zombie Prisoner!
2. ... Mutated Elite Troops!
3. ... Undead Cyborg!
4. ... Pack of Shambling Lusii!
MINIBOSS STARTING HP: 30/30
If you rolled a 1, take 5 dmg.
If you rolled a 2, take 5 dmg.
If you rolled a 3, take 4 dmg.
If you rolled a 4, take 4 dmg.
If you rolled a 5, take 3 dmg.
If you rolled a 6, take 3 dmg. Your attack this turn does double damage.
If all party members reach 0hp, look below:
You must make a tactical retreat! Scrambling back out of the room,
you barely make it to the pod with all your limbs attached.
Better luck next time! You have retreated from your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

If the mini-boss reaches 0hp, look below:

If this is your first or second mini-boss fight look below:

If a member of your team is a trained Discipline or Endurace specialist OR registered as in-training for either:

You can close your eyes and draw on inner reserves to keep going. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained.
If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Restore 1d10+3 OR 1/3rd (rounded down) of your hp.
If you are a Novice in your skill: Restore 1d8+2 OR 1/4th (rounded down) of your hp.
If you are training your skill: Restore 1d6+1 hp.
You cannot roll the dice then choose the flat restoration, one must be picked beforehand.

If a member of your team is a trained Troll Relations or Leadership specialist OR registered as in-training for either:

You can manage to cheer, rally, or cajole your teammates into finding more energy. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained.
If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+3 (rolled separately) hp.
If you are a Novice in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+2 (rolled separately) hp.
If you are training your skill: Each team member restores 1d4+1 (rolled separately) hp.

If this is your third mini-boss fight, you've reached one of the propulsion systems! Roll 1d4 and look in the spoiler below:

1 - It's a mess of disturbingly fleshy wires down here, but they all seem to be connected to a single, monolithic console. Everything is where it should be according to ground control's instructions, so recalibrating the power output is simple enough.
2 - It smells like ash and rot in here. Some of the wires are torn, sparking ominously in the vicinity of a particularly charred corpse. The unit is just draining power like this. With ground control's assistance, you manage to shut down the system and quarantine it.
3 - The room is pitch black. You're only able to discern its purpose through narrow flashlight beams and stumbling over the snaking wires. The console at the center is nothing but a dead-end for the ship's power supply. With instructions from headquarters, you manage to grope around in the dark and quarantine the system.
4 - The room feels like an inferno with how strained the propulsion system is. With instructions from headquarters you're able to alleviate pressure from the unit and reroute power accordingly. The center console already begins to glow less menacingly.
Congratulations! You have completed your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

Chiara jumped in to attack immediately. She slashed at the monster, tearing into decayed flesh. It was like cutting butter... if the butter made a puff of spores out each time you hit it... and smelled like a lusus's barnyard, then yes, butter was an apt example.

When it came time to fight again Stryke was surprised how well things had gone. He had heard rumors of horror stories. They were all well prepared to take on this mission, and had a bit of luck on their side so it would seem. Readying his daggers, he dashed in. Just as the monster went to swing he had a smirk cross his lips.

Raising his hand up, he quickly channeled his psionics. The yellow, red and orange clocks sprung to life. They were a manifestation of his will. The beast stopped mid swing as he took the opportunity to dart in, slashing at the creature with both his blades to help clear the path. Tick. Tick. of the clocks chimed as they shattered once the time stasis ceased. Tipping his chin up, he stood at the ready to fight on.

"WAHAHAHA! Ya did awesome Deggy!!" Forera had NO IDEA Ephias was so strong. Hell, she had no idea this kid could take down anything, let alone these sturdy as hell doors! Forera slapped his shoulder appreciatively, cackling at his efforts and preparing herself to fight. She couldn't let these kids make her look bad!! Preparing herself for another slam, the greenblood crackled her knuckles before charging into the fray.

With a harsh slam, the tealblood shoved one of the lusi to the ground-- It was still moving, but less so. It moved a little, it's nightmarish eyes settling on her own and making the hairs on the back of her neck stand. This thing was strong. Austri twirled her gun, preparing herself-- She needed to hit it at just the right time. It's eyes swirled on her. Forera narrowed her eyes, tense, finger poised over the trigger. She inhaled, exhaled, then shot her weapon.

It settled into the stomach of the monster then exploded in it, ripping it to shreds as a small plume of flame errupted from the spot it'd been on. Forera jumped up excitedly-- This one was dead. She knew the others could handled the rest of them.

"All right guys!" Chiara said as everyone pulled back from their attacks. "You ready for the grand performance? The show of the night?" She went over to Ephias and nudged his shoulder with hers. "Ready to see why staying with me, well, might not be so bad?" She said it with a hungry smile, but her eyes and voice were kind. She did miss Ephias. She missed him a lot.

With her speech out of the way it was time to live up to the words. Chiara dashed in, and got right underneath the monster. She did more than usual, she powered up her whole body. Buff legs, arms, and a six pack to boot, all went into this next attack. With an upward sweep of her arm she managed to hit the undead troll up into the air and a good 10 feet away.
