Poe wasn't one for bars, or loud places that had a lot of noise and lights or anything like that. But he needed more info. And places like this might have what he needed. Poe bundled up his jacket, fidgeting to himself. He was close to the PI safehouse, somewhere he could flee to if he needed.

Taking a seat at the bar, Poe ordered a drink and waited, listening intently, eyes covered and goggles down. He'd focus, until someone said something interesting. Then he could follow.

Eyzaak listened to get as she stammered. What was it exactly about her that made him want to keep her safe? She seemed so nervous and scared. Tilting his head just a bit more he nodded as he acknowledged he was listening.

"You sure?" He replied to her saying she was fine. Deciding in that moment as he studied her, he had an idea. "Yup. Im just checking the facility out." Come to think of it. Wander was a troll he knew, but not very well. Maybe they could hang out together!

Humming thoughtfully Eyzaak placed a hand on his hip. "Hey why dont we explore together." Eyzaak suggested. "Come on!" He reached for her arm giving it a light tug. Suddenly a wide cheerful smile crossed the boys face.

----

Upon hearing about taco night Eyzaak was extremely excited. Who didn't want food! Especially something as tasty as the mentioned food item. He had them with Trevel before..and looked forward to it. "Wander lets grab a plate!! Maybe we'll get some juicy gossip." He whispered the last bit. The blueblood rushed ahead a few steps before coaxing her to follow.

Didn't seem to find any info from being junior spies. Well, besides tacos. Nice, but not what Byakko was looking for. Eyzaak, however, appeared very enthusiastic about it. "U-uh..." She wasn't sure. Going to the taco bar sounded like, well, an excuse to get tacos! Maybe they should be spying again or finding another lead... But Eyzaak looked so sure of himself. And in the Outside, you had to listen to highbloods. Or act like you did. So. She folded.

Wander followed along, though hesitant about it. "A-are you s-sure th-this is what we should do...?" she asked quietly. The tacos did smell good, though. And trolls did like to talk. Hmm...

Eyzaak looked at her with a raised brow. "You never know what we'll find." He shrugged then, more as it was an excuse to go for food than anything else. Shrugging he pushed his hands into his pockets as they moved about. He sort of felt bad for pressuring her, he knew lowbloods weren't really supposed to refuse a direct request. Eyzaak found that weird...if this was back home she could have walked away whenever she wanted.

"Why not? Maybe we'll overhear something..." He scooped up a few items onto his plate as he began assembling his food. "Mealtime is usually when trolls open up in more than one way yea? And if not hey we could fill their protein chutes." Eyzaak looked around for Byakko and her disguised self out of curiosity..hoping she wouldn't mind too much. They were working technically after all.

2A. It doesn’t take you long after arriving in the slums to hear rumor about ‘ghost activity’ in an underground cavern a half day’s hike away from the city outskirts. Suspicious. You get directions, and decide to check it out.

"Ghosts are absolutely nothing to be concerned with."

Despite that, Muerte was leading his growing entourage out into the middle of nowhere. While he would have much preferred poking around other places, the Initiative had been stationed in a derelict cavern once, so why wouldn't some other asinine assholes? Still, the distance was long, and he worried about making it back in time to beat the ever dangerous sun.

How did he get stuck with two children again?

"So we'll be absolutely fine. That being said, you need to stop acting like this is a field trip." He was looking pointedly at Athera as he made that comment. "I highly doubt we're going to encounter actual ghosts, so try not to attract any attention that's going to get us killed. Or lost. God only know what s**t I'd get into if either of you got lost."

Ok so Cynril didn't manage to get any super interesting information on the matter Byakko had informed but at least he knew they'd be offering tacos. Whatever that was. Sounds icky... The child thought as the wandered around, thinking about what should be his next move. Aha! The supply room! Maybe hec ould get something out of there so the older mutant would recognize him the way she did with Selune and Wander.

Yes, sweet recognition... That was all he wanted. So the child waited around for the perfect moment to go and steal things.

"You did so good yesterday!!" Athera was almost too enthusiastic as she reminded Sonnie about their work the night prior. She'd told him so already, but she had to make sure he remembered. "Oh, sorry Tetete, that was kinda loud, huh...?" They were supposed to be on a secret ghost hunting mission, after all. Wait, weren't they actually supposed to be gathering intelligence for the Initiative? Oh well.

"I'm not concerned," she had to sound out the word a bit, "about ghosts, though." Hands on her hips as they walked, Athera looked just fine and dandy.

"We gotta see one 'cause we walked so faaaar."

Inventory: 1 Pack Name Brand Batteries
Path 1 -> Option C

Oh, food. She absolutely loved food...and even if there were a few other rebels in the area, she really couldn't resist the temptation. Plus who didn't want tacos?! Voscil opted for quickly swinging by to grab a plate. Wolfing her meal down, she was gone just as quickly to get down to business for the rest of the night.

The time in the cafeteria was extremely brief. She hadn't even paid mind to her surroundings. This was not how she would be spending her evening after all.

What she did want to focus on was sneaking around the facility. Standing around waiting to steal more goodies while fun, wasn't what she felt like doing tonight. Voscil had gotten lucky as it was. She loved batteries, Voscil collected them. So finding a pack was pretty sweet. However, with the paparazzi noise all about still, surely she would find out something good!

So with that Voscil went to find a lead as she snooped.

"Thanks, R-Rulata!" Sonnie covered his face with his hands. Getting praise was always really nice to hear. "You did really good too!" He was supposed to compliment her back right? That's how this worked, right? Sonnie swallowed hard, trying not to sweat.

"I d-don't think we'll get lost!" Sonnie said to Muerte, "If we stick together, that is..." He wasn't exactly the type to wander off. Was Athera? "If, uh, if you're worried, we... uh... we can hold hands!" Sonnie held his hands up as an example, giving his best, although incredibly nervous smile.

Night 2 Results:

Path 1
1A. While munching on your taco, you hear gossip from the next table over from some trolls wearing Outreach Corps jackets. “Whoa, really, what did he say?” “He was like, ‘my novels are all what ifs’. Then he gave me one of his books, and was all, ‘in this I ask, what if a plant could drive a bus? And what if it, and it’s flora brethren, took over and ate the government?’ I’m telling you, dude, it was weird.” There was a couple laughs from around the table. “He was going on about woolbeasts, too. Anyway, I burned that book as soon as I left the library.” “Good idea. That sort of crap is risky, y’know? Even if it is just stupid fiction...” There was a hum of unanimous agreement. (choose between Path 1 or Path 3)

1B. You swoop into the supply block the moment the guard breaks for the cafeteria. Unfortunately… there’s not much in here except personal hygiene products for the workers who perhaps spent a little too much time at the sites and some flashlights. Take 1 package of discount batteries. (remain on Path 1)

1C. The reporters have little interest in talking about anything other than what laid behind the military compound’s fence. You essentially waste your night. (remain on Path 1)

Path 2
2A. You find yourself at the mouth of a cave, as the gossipy troll had instructed. The smell of dust and mildew fills your nostrils as you press deeper down into the jagged pathways. The cavern walls break out into a lush tapestry of lichen and bioluminescent fungi. Eventually, the tunnels open up into massive cavern blooming with radiant flora; a lush underground jungle. Parts of the cavern are piled with massive slabs of stone and the plant life there is notably younger, as if it had suffered a cave in at some point. The only thing you find of note is several lusus skeletons entangled in weeds. Trolls who participated in the ‘Whimsical Underground Adventure’ 2014 meta route will recognize this cavern as Aendal’s resting ground.?(remain on Path 2)

2B. The sign outside the hospital, rusted and missing a few letters, reads ‘TEN BR SPL CE’. You press onward into the dilapidated building, careful to avoid sagging parts of the wooden floor rich with dust. In the distance, somewhere from above, you hear the faint melody of a saxophone. Following the music, you become increasingly aware of how out of tune it actually is. Just as you come to the conclusion that the song is coming from the rooftop and open the door to the connected staircase, the saxophone cuts to a screeching halt. You look down, realizing your ankle has caught against a tripwire. You wince, waiting for the worst- but nothing happens. However, you do hear whoever was up there skittering away through a second opposing staircase. (choose between Path 2 or Path 4)

2C. As expected, the dive bar is full of seedy individuals. You gain a few sidewards glances, but ultimately end up making friends with a very talkative, very buzzed lowblood. They wave their cup of faygo around, slurring their words. “Ahhrmy Shurplus, ehh? Nnn… I… do I? Hmmmm??” They burst out into a fit of giggles for seemingly no reason. “I made… shooooo much money inveshting in thoshe novels… Then I… Then I losssht it all in a pyramid schcheeme. Scheeeeme.” The laughter stopped. They frowned with sobering sternness. “But I learned a lot about buishness that night. Here- it’s dangeroush to go alone. Take theshe.” You get 1 package of discount batteries. (remain on Path 2)

Night 3 Options:
*at any point you may return to Path 1.
*if you have missed a night, return to Path 1 or the path you would have unlocked during Night 2.

Path 1: It’s the third night since the rebel briefing on the potential black market tech connection. How do you spent your night?
1A. The Chittentown SRDPSL was the centre of military activity. It might hold some key information. It’s worth snooping around, so you offer to cart around trays of hot beverages to the military staff.

1B. The military had, yet again, only posted one guard tonight at each supply warehouse. You plan to break into one when the time is right.

1C. While the building sites in Chittentown were for the most part complete, given they were closest to where the notice Byakko showed you originated from, it seemed logical to look for clues there.

Path 2: You decide to continue with the lead in western Chittentown about a potential underground black market. The locals seems mostly uninterested in talking with you, so you decide to take your search out around the less populated areas. Where do you go?
2A. Investigate the warehouse district. There’s plenty of abandoned buildings and the lots themselves sprawl for quite aways, so you’re willing to bet it’s ripe with seedy activity.

2B. There’s a outdoor market tonight that essentially acts as a giant yard sale for the locals of Chittentown. Maybe you could find some sort of connection there.

2C. Potentially the most infamous feature of western Chittentown is it’s ever expanding garbage dump. While thoroughly picked over by scavengers, perhaps someone had found something interesting and would be willing to talk.

Path 3: It sounded like some anti-government enthusiasts were hanging around the Chittentown library, so you decide to spend the night lurking there, sponge clots sharp and attentive for any suspicious whisperings. While you spy, you need to choose a book to make yourself look busy. What kind do you choose?
3A. Read a horror novel. You choose the one with the spine most worn, figuring that was indicative of a real spine chiller.

3B. Read a comic book. There’s a surprising collection of them, although you need to fight a few youngsters off for the best ones.

3C. Read a romance novel. Now, red or black…? Ooh- this one says right on the cover ‘why not both’!

Path 4: The ominous saxophone playing, coupled with the tripwire, was enough to pique your interests. You return to the hospital and make your way up the crumbling staircase, and once again, a sad, extremely offtune melody wafts in from upstairs. This time, you’re prepared for the tripwires, and you know the musician will likely flee once they’re made aware of your presence. How do you approach up the stairs?
4A: Call out a simple greeting, and say you mean no harm.

4B: Yell up something complimentary about his playing!

4C: Begin to loudly walk up the stairs, while slow clapping.

Those tacos were nothing to snuff at, that was for sure! But, as tasty as they were, they contained no amazing secrets with which to bring back to Byakko and help all the rebels lead happy lives free the the iron grip of the Empress. It was probably too much to ask, really, for all that in one taco, but hey, Selune was a dreamer!

She made her way to the library, full of tacos but empty of long sought secrets, and sat down to look over her choices. Comic books would be pretty good, sure, but all the kids were reading those. Besides... Obachan was over in the cook book section, now was her chance to do something... taboo! She ran over to the horror section, grabbed a book and then went and got a history book to hide the fact that she was reading horror. She was so sneaky. Selune giggled to her self a little, yep, so sneaky.

You better believe Athera had no problem holding Sonnie's hand. She was doing it even now—hopefully he wasn't too uncomfortable or anything—as they neared the garbage dump. Finding no ghosts back at the cave had been kind of disappointing, but the sight of the jungle inside lifted her spirits tenfold. That was the kind of thing she loved. In fact, Athera had pocketed a few plants she didn't recognize in the hopes of cultivating them in her personal garden.

This place, on the other hand, was not exactly where she wanted to be, but if it was for the good of the Initiative...

"It smeeeelllllssss." Wouldn't stop her from complaining, though. "D'you think anyone else is even gonna beeee here?" Maybe they'd find something cool, at least.

Sonnie was more than happy to hold hands with Athera. It brought a happy little green blush to his face, accompanied by the tiniest baby smile.

He wasn't particularly bothered by the dump quite like Athera was. In fact, all of the free junk looked pretty exciting to a crafty little troll like him. Plus, he could pull down his mask and hide the powerful scent a little better. He'd offer it to his little team, but the scent was mostly masked by the smell of his own sweat. It didn't bother him, but it wasn't a kind offer to make.

"Some trolls like trash," Sonnie said. "There's supposed to be s-scavengers and stuff so, maybe they know some s-secrets and stuff." He wasn't making a particularly convincing argument, was he?

"G-guess so..." They could give it a shot. Not that she had any better ideas anyway, if she had the nerve to go for it at all. Lacking both, she followed Eyzaak to the line. In the end, the tacos were pretty darn good, and there were even dessert tacos! And Abby only raised a tiny bit of a ruckus trying to scoop stuff with her lemur hands.

After they settled down to eat, among all the loud talking, she did catch...something. An aspiring novelist trying something new? Though, as she listened, it gave her some insight into how stifling the Outside was. Couldn't even write things about something happening to the government in a worst-case scenario... It wasn't nice, but she didn't think it was too bad if it was just, well, what if.

But... Maybe there was more to it than that. Follow all possible leads! As weird as they might be. "Sh-should we ch-check th-that out?" she asked later, leading to their current location: the library. But they had to act natural.

Wander checked the shelves quick. All the mystery novels were gone. Darn! On some nearby racks, though, there were some comics. Those seemed like something Eyzaak might enjoy.

"H-here." She passed one to him. "I-it l-looks like i-it h-has fiduspawn i-in it." That also seemed like something he'd enjoy. Trolls with monster companions... Wander just had a hunch- she couldn't really explain it.

Muerte was just glad neither of the children had tried to hold his hand. Thankfully he had gloves on if either one attempted. And a lot of disinfectant.

The caverns had been, in direct contrast to Athera, disappointing on all accords. While the lusus bones were neat (and possibly useful), they were also entirely too unruly to try lugging back to the safehouse, not to mention he was pretty sure it'd be impossible to allocate the sort of troll-power necessary for transporting them. It was better used on technology and supplies, and even Muerte knew that.

That being said, he was rather delighted to be rooting around a trash heap. The greenblood was one of those aforementioned scavengers; trolls just threw away so much good stuff! And Muerte didn't exactly have a massive amount of funds (especially not with his expensive hobbies), so resourcefulness was the only route to go. He did agree with Athera though: "It does smell rather pungent, doesn't it?" Wasn't anything he couldn't handle though, not after sweeps of manhandling bodies in various states of decay. He looked towards the two children. "It's entirely possible that there's trolls around here who are up to date with the hearsay. Whether we can get them to talk is another matter entirely. Regardless, I think we should try to make the best of this situation." There went one perfect, pristine doctor into the garbage...

You never know what you might find!
