spaceDo you, for any reason, want to adopt someone else's character? If so, here is a couple guidelines that you must follow, as the adopter, and certain rights the adoptee still holds.

- - Giving up any and all rights to your character (except as noted below).
- Giving the adopter permission to roleplay your character as they see fit.

- - He or she may follow their character's progress throughout the times.
- Offer assistance in the decision of the character's fate (Adoptee would not, however, have the right to decide for the new owner).
- Raise complaints in case the adopter does something that's out of character, or defame the character in any way, shape, or form. Complaints should be sent to Diamond Wales or the Captain herself.
- Be credited as the character's creator.

- - Must adopt the character within one in-guild year of the adoptee's leave (if he or she decides to leave Hogwarts) before the character will be treated as NPC or as though they have never existed.
- Must have the permission from the original owner to roleplay the character. If the original owner doesn't care who gets the character, then you may adopt them, however the above rules still apply about abuse/misuse of another person's character.
- Must roleplay the character. There is no point if the character just sits in a corner of the profile page and does absolutely nothing.
- If granted permission, the adopter has two weeks to post a completely new profile thread for the character or repost the profile in the appropriate thread if the thread is owned by someone other than the adoptee.

- - The adopter, once the character is adopted, can choose to do whatever to the character within reason. As long as the character stays in character (or has evolved along a reasonable time since adoption) then the adoptee cannot complain about how the character is portrayed. In other words, artist's interpretation from how one person views a character as opposed to how another views said character.
- Once a decision is final about who adopts the character, it is final, which means if an adoptee decides not to allow you to adopt a character, there is literally nothing you can do.
- If it is an open adoption because the adoptee doesn't care who gets the character and later changes their mind due to abuse of said character, then you must give up all rights to the character.
- All adopted characters shall be monitored by crew to ensure no character abuse is occurring. If abuse is found to happen, all rights to said character are null and void and revert to the original owner.
