But running forever seems like a silly idea. How do you plan on dealing with this icy idiot? Will you outsmart him? Take him on head to head? Or maybe you've got another trick up your sleeve... On that note, why is he chasing you, anyway?

Prompt Response: "That icy idiot is still on my heels?" She murmured incredulously to herself, glancing backwards. She was still a fair distance ahead of him, but she smelled him on the wind that blew in, cold and ominous. She'd thought for sure she'd given him the slip days ago when she'd used a river to travel along, backtracking and retracing her steps to throw him off her scent. She hated water, but she hated getting caught even more. She thought herself rid of the fool, but here was his scent wafting in on the breeze, mocking her. She wasn't out of tricks, yet. She could tell the weather was getting warmer and dryer, the trees were becoming spare. She could tell they were approaching a warmer climate- perhaps a desert! She'd lose him for sure in the shifting sands.

Her claws twitched in anticipation however. She'd been trying to elude him for too long; she wondered if it weren't more prudent to simply rid herself of the threat of him completely. She considered it as she trudged onward, recounting the events that had lead them here.

Now, she wasn't a mare that mussed herself over stolen goods or destroyed property most of time, so long as she never got caught as the perpetrator. The way she saw it, whatever she stole was well earned and rightfully hers, so long as she wasn't caught. Perhaps it was a little overly ambitious, edging on immoral to attempt to steal the stallion's basket. She would grant him that. And she gave it back; what more did he want? Was this really worth all this trouble over? Or was he this angry because on her way out she'd accidentally (mostly) kicked over the logs in the fire, which caught what ramshackle domicile the stallion had made ablaze? Still, he should have been more busy dealing with that than in chasing her down.

She pondered for a moment longer. Was he angry because she had made off with his colorful shells? They weren't hardly worth anything, and he hadn't noticed she'd taken them before she departed. They were hers now. Good luck to him if he's trying to get them back. And anyway, they couldn't possibly be worth all of this trouble. Maybe the idiot was merely insane? All the more reason to try to get away from him; who knew what he had planned when he caught her! She had no intention of finding out.

Maybe it was time to change tactics. She looked around and started making plans, gathering materials. If she caught him first, then she could get away while we was snared. She grinned mischievously to herself as she set about her work. He was sure to fall for these traps, fool that he was. She spent a good part of the day on them, but soon enough all was ready. She cleverly hid where she could watch him become ensnared, waiting.

Prompt Response:

Sizzle. Sizzle. Sizzle.

“Ugh! Are you still following me?!” A frustrated cry rang out, breaking the monotonous sound of snow being melted away at the feet of one particularly cranky mare. She had been pursued by this blasted stallion for a majority of the day – an entire day of traveling wasted! – and it didn’t seem like he would be letting up anytime soon. They had arrived at the steep base of a mountain, the sight of heavy snowfall not so distant now if you turned your gaze upwards to the mountain’s peak. “Come on! Give it a rest already!” Eruu hadn’t meant to set part of his home aflame. And accidentally singe his tail. And torch, uh… all of the nearby bushes… and flowers…… and a bunch of the trees that had been nearby… Uh. Really! R-really! She hadn’t meant for that whole disaster to happen! She had just been passing by during her travels and things had just happened. So what if the flames had come from her? Didn’t mean it was her fault. ‘Pfft. Fire can’t be controlled, everyone knows that. Well, except for ice-for-brains here.’

Chest heaving from rapid breaths, she considered her options with a few quick looks, back and forth: the mountain, the stallion advancing towards her, up the mountain, the charging stallion, go up the mountain, the stallion getting far too close for comfort…

‘Up the mountain it is.’

There was some distance between the two of them still, enough for her to take a moment to back up before leaping at the rocky cliff side. The landing was rough on her poor paws and she would certainly feel all of this later, but what-the-hell-ever. She was tired of being chased! “Sooo sorry about your home! And your pansies! And – ugh – and – Oh, screw this. Whatever, man! Get over it already!” Eruu half-growled, half-grunted her words out as she worked to pull herself up. Her hind paws struggling for a short while – she may or may not have tried to give a poorly aimed kick down at the approaching brute during the process - before she managed to finally hoist herself up. Red tendrils of flame and smoke flaring wildly from her now, Eruu began the more difficult part of her plan: climbing. Time to go up. And up. And up.

‘This should do.’ Figuring she was finally high enough to be nicely out of reach, Eruu took a moment to rest. “Hah!” And maybe gloat a little. Legs wobblier than she’d like to admit, the mare flashed a grin and looked down at the enraged stallion down below. He was a bit mad. Just a bit. She could tell. “Can’t get me now, buddy! I'm very elusive~” Eruu watched him from her rocky perch, wondering what steps he’d take next. He was just standing there now, fuming. ‘If he’s smart, he’ll just give up and go.’ She thought to herself, a toothy grin working its way across her muzzle.

WHAM. The male had slammed his side against the base of the mountain, right underneath Eruu. She hadn’t fallen, but she had been startled by the sudden impact, eyes widening at the rumble. She was safe up here, right? Eruu gave a huff, shooting a glare down at the stallion. “Yeah, alright. Good luck, frosty!” She snapped out, only to be met with yet another slam. Giving a snort, the mare decided to back up just a bit. You know, for safety.

Only to have her back bump against rock.

Oh. This was just a large… ledge. There was no way to go further up. There was nothing but flat stone behind her. The only way out was… down? Oh. Oh………

Uh-oh.

((she had a plan, but maaan, it was a terrible one. :'U <3))

Prompt Response: His nostrils flared.

He could smell her. Even all the way out here, in an unfamiliar zone with foreign scents and sounds. He could smell her. If only he could pin point her exactly...

Ever since that night his mind ceased to rest when it came to her flickering visage. Her voice powerful yet passionate. Extreme like the sizzling flames yet warm like a mother's love. He could recall the precise moment he first set eyes upon her that night from atop his icy perch. From the position of the moon, the twinkling of the stars, even how fast his heart was beating. The way she seemed to dance on air below him as if the laws of gravity applied not to her. And the intensity of her aura. So bright and so brilliant almost as if she were completely made of fire herself... he was convinced she was a spirit. A heaven sent gift. A gift meant only for him. It was something he'd never forget.

Nor lose.

For countless nights he had watched her in secret, following her, observing her, smelling her. She seemed so real yet he knew she wasn't. She couldn't be. Something so intense as her, it just wasn't plausible. He had lived so long atop the icy mountains with no one but the few members of his small herd, dreaming of change, of adventure, of excitement. And here it had been delivered all in the nimble package of the glowing spirit mare. A minute warm embrace in a harsh winter's land. He just had to bring her to the herd. Or... bring the herd to her.

It took many hours of convincing but he had finally managed to bring the others to that exact place where he first saw her appear. He waited with baited breath, a smile tickling his lips. The sun was setting and soon the lavender tinged sky would merge into darkness. The stars would peek their way through the clouds and she would appear as radiant as ever. And appear she did, in all her crimson glory. But the others didn't react as he had hoped they would. In confusion he turned to them, eyes questioning and lost. In an effort to prove the mare's brilliance to them he called out to her. Ran to her. Praised her beauty, her glory, her splendor. He nudged her towards the others, his delusional state unperceptive to her own bafflement and confusion. He proceeded to worship her to the others, mouth spilling praise and compliments as fast as a raging river. It was only when her voice rang out, nay, pierced the sky in anger did he stop and turn to his spirit.

Quit being ridiculous! she cried. I'm not some silly spirit and I'm most certainly not yours." she lashed out, red eyes slicing through the night. Lost in stupor his mind couldn't process the scene at hand. All he could register was a pain in his chest. A sting. A burn. Like a rod of fire had pierced his skin and lodged itself deep within his heart. He felt his face twist as his brows furrowed, his lips curled downwards in a snarl all of their own. He could only bring himself to watch as some form of apologies and exchanges were made and his spirit wandered from his sight seemingly never to be seen again.

Except she would be seen again. And he'd make sure of it. Even if it wasn't back in his homeland. Even if it wasn't in some peaceful forest or by a serene trickling river. He'd track her down to the ends of the earth and once he had done so he'd make her see.

He'd make her realize her wrongs. How she shouldn't have rejected him. How sorry she should be for humiliating him in front of his only family. How ice can burn just as hot as any flame when provoked...

Prompt Response: “This is getting ridiculous,” she thought to herself as she peered out of the dense bramble patch. Her dark ears flicked back into her wispy mane as she glowered at the loaming shape of the frosty menace standing not three paces away. He couldn’t see her concealed as she was but she had been driven into the prickly foliage as a last resort and she couldn’t leave until he was out of her hair. Up until now, evading him had been easy but he had slowly been catching on to all of her usual tricks. Surprisingly smart for a brute.

Grumbling only on the inside she lowered her head to wait him out. She wondered if she’d be able to though, he’d proven himself very stubborn in the last few months. Honestly, it was an overreaction. It had only been a silly prank and he was hunting her down like his life depended on it. He’d just been so proud of his silly little shrine. He’d dragged her over to it and gone on and on about how it was to honor his gods and how they told him that she was going to become someone very important in his life. He’d sounded completely crazy and he’d wasted most of her day. Those offenses had demanded some sort of retribution via pranking. So she’d left a steaming offering at his shrine that had come straight from her bowels. After all, offerings didn’t get more personal than something from your own body.

Chasing her to the ends of the earth over a little bowel pancake was definitely overkill. It was just a kiddy prank. The kind of things foals did to each other when someone stole the last apple. And yet, here they were: her hiding in the bushes like a frightened rabbit and him stalking about with fury blazing in his sunken eyes. She couldn’t stay like this forever and he was showing no signs of leaving.

Her eyes drifted around the area and came to a stop on the river just beyond her prickly bush. She had intended to cross it but it had swollen thanks to a few untimely rain storms, it hadn’t been safe. It had picked up all sorts of debris and she could see it trapped in between a line of protruding rocks. If she jumped just right from the shore she could land on that debris island. She was light enough it might support her but it would definitely break apart and sink under the brute’s weight. It was a reckless idea but she didn’t have a better one.

Taking a deep breath she bolted from the bushes, ignoring how the sharp thorns nicked her on the way out, and shot towards the river bank. She could hear the outraged sounds of the stallion just behind her but didn’t turn to look. She was focused on her destination. At the very edge of the river bank she put all of her strength into a jump and soared over to the floating debris. For a brief shining moment she thought she had made it but as soon as her feet hit ground she sunk straight into the mess of sticks. It broke apart as she struggled to get free and sent her rushing down the flooded river. By some miracle it caught on a rock closer to the edge of the shore she wanted to be on and she managed to get out. She looked something like a water logged rat as she clambered her way onto the shore but soaked and sore as she was there was no way the stallion could get her here, at least not until he found a better crossing.

“Ha!” She wheezed triumphantly turning to find him glaring at her from the opposing shore. “Bet you can’t do that!” She hoped that she sounded cool through all the panting, wheezing, and coughing. To ensure the mockery hit home she turned and lifted her tail to flash him the full glory of her rear before plodding off. At some point he was bound to get across and go after her, he was crazy like that, but at least she had a head start.

Prompt Response: Fury boiled as thickly as her mane seemed to. She had run for miles beyond counting, and that arrogant stallion was still pursuing! She had to give him credit, he was tenacious, but she wasn't going to give in! She was through running, it was time to teach him a lesson once and for all. He couldn't just have any mare he chose and by the sun itself she swore he would regret ever setting eyes on her.

She turned back the way she'd come, hearing but not seeing him just yet. That was fine. She would wait, and then she would show him her nice sharp claws and teeth. She would never join his harem, and soon she would show him just how much of a mistake he'd made in believing she could be coerced. No one was good enough for her, and certainly some pompous, spoiled stallion who thought he was a gift to mares everywhere. No no, she was going to bring him down a few pegs and she flexed her toes eagerly in anticipation. It had been so long since she'd torn into another and this was going to prove immensely satisfying.

Finally she saw him approaching, his gait stilted. Ha! He was reaching the ends of his stamina. She grinned widely, showing off her teeth and waited. A wise stallion would know they were in trouble. A smart male would stop and turn back before they got in striking range. This male however was neither wise nor smart, and she was going to send him back to his harem bleeding.

He stumbled when he got a look at her smile and she leaned forward in anticipation, letting her mouth hang open slightly. She hoped he got the hint. She hoped he tried to run. It was too late to escape her wrath now. She would rip the spines off his back, and maybe take an eye. When she was finished with him, he would surely think twice before harassing another mare. Her wrath upon him would be the stuff of legends. He just needed to get a bit closer.

He was yelling something as he dropped to a walk, but the wind carried his voice away from her. The look on his face told her he was a true fool however. What was that--did he look adoring?! Oh now what was this tripe? Had the idiot become besotted while chasing her around? Her head snapped back and her lips curled up in a disgusted sneer. Suddenly she wasn't having fun anymore. Awe was all fine and good, she deserved no less after all, but this?! This was repulsive. Adoration. He should be worshiping her for the magnificent mare that she was, not looking at her like he was smitten.

She spun to run again. No. He wasn't worth it. Maybe if he could keep up for a little longer she'd deign to 'honor' him by biting a chunk out of his side. At least it seemed he was finally learning some humility, now she just needed to teach him the proper way to respect her greatness, and that could only come when he was too tired to even stand.

Prompt Response:
It was funny to think that a mere few months ago he’d been happy. Summer had been alive then, and they had exchanged their tokens of covenant as proof of their love for each other. Hers to him was an earring, to be pierced through his ear as her love had pierced through his heart. His to her was a necklace, with stones as red as the heart that beat for her. He had never been so happy in his life... And then the blood plague had arrived. They sequestered themselves away from the herd for weeks, not caring that they had no one but themselves for company as long as they did not fall ill. Only, it wasn’t enough. They never knew who or what infected them, but sick they became, and after one restless night, Summer passed away under the stars.

He lived. He lived, weak but recovering, and cursing the fate that had taken his beloved from him. He found the strength to burn her body in the way of their people, but he saved the necklace he had given her for himself. This he could not bear to burn, and he held it in the hollow spot over his chest, feeling the cold beads against his unprotected skin as a constant reminder of what he had lost.

But he was still so weak, and not even entirely recovered from the blood plague himself. One day the fever returned, and he tossed and turned, begging the gods of death to take him too, so he could join Summer again and be at peace. The gods of death didn’t take him, and the fever finally broke, leaving his body recovering, but his heart still shattered.

And there was something more. His beloved’s necklace was gone.

A bird who was his friend, though not his familiar, had been watching over him. He demanded of the bird, what had become of his lover’s necklace? Stolen, said the bird. Stolen by a mare with a mane of fire, and a glint in her eye. He had howled with despair then, and soon thereafter the hunt began.

It consumed him, single-mindedly. He followed the mare of flame, but he was always far too slow to catch her. He could not move as swiftly as he had before falling ill. He’d hear stories of her heading in one direction, only to find she had left in another. He followed her for weeks, then months, cursing her, though he did not even know her name. Slowly he grew stronger, and slowly the distance between them closed. He was one day behind her, then less! Then finally, he was staring at her footsteps, smelling the acrid smell of smoke from her passing. And there she was, standing by a stream, the demon that had stolen his necklace and his life away.

His mate’s necklace, the mark of their bond, was there around her necklace, almost glowing in the reflected light from her fire mane. His breath caught. His vision blurred. For a moment, standing there with his love at her throat, she looked almost like Summer. Had not the necklace tied him to Summer? And did not the necklace now tie him to her instead?

“Thank you,” he whispered, voice hoarse and heavy with emotion. She stared at him, dumbfounded. “I think you saved my life,” he added, tears stinging at the corners of his eyes. He had been ready to die, sick and weak, before she had come into his life. By stealing the necklace, she had not only given him new purpose, but inspired him to get up and put strength back into his bones.

“Please… keep the necklace.” A smile broke across his frozen features, for the first time since Summer had drawn her last breath. “May you wear it in good health.” He began to walk away, but then paused. Was that her voice, calling him to wait? Slight smile toying with his face once more, he turned, ready to hear her words, and face his new future.

Prompt Response:

A wry yet bittersweet smile appears on her face as she sidesteps the patch of the clearing, knowing that her former lover is closely behind her, stubbornly trailing her to make sure she doesn't get herself into the trouble. The quiet crackling of her firey mane to tail is the only indication that she was there along with faint flickers of light in the distance while she weaves through the trees in attempt to give the stallion a slip like she always do. Her red eyes glances over, connecting with his steely determined blue eyes and she realized it was a mistake to look at him because the memories of their chaotic yet whirlwind romance of a year floods her head.

When they met for the first time, they hated each other with passion and will collide with each other whenever they sees each other either physically or verbally. It developed to unsteady friendship after they found themselves in a predicament that forced them to rely on each other and learn how to trust each other. "You will fall in love with me. You will want to be with me. You will beg me for more of what I can offer you." The stallion have declared to her one day and this particular mare laughed in his face. "Not a chance, stallion. You are like a brother to me." She says with a playful disgusted sneer but the stallion wasn't fazed by that because apparently he knew something that she doesn't.

As their friendship grew to the point where they are so close to each other and whenever one goes to, other is bound to be right behind the one that is going somewhere or right next to that soquili's side, chatting up the storm. The mare's feelings for her best friend grew from sibling love to romantic fiery love and she struggled to deny it to the point where the stallion started the year of paradise for her. The stallion provoked her into facing her feelings heads on by engaging her into a playful struggle which end up with her being pinned down by him, and the final words that started the romance is "This is bad idea."

They enjoyed each other immensely over the year and they started to get closer to each other to the point where the mare was convinced that this stallion will be her last and won't break her heart like other stallions have done before. Before she met this stallion, she guarded her heart fiercously and refused to get close to any stallions until this one. However, this stallion was struggling with his feelings because he had hard time developing those kind of feelings for the mare like the mare have for the stallion but he tried to push himself to feel something for her.

The night she got her heart broken by him was the worst day she ever experienced because she trusted this stallion not to hurt her. Not to break her heart. He stood there and told her that its not fair to her and he's calling it quits but what he didn't expect her to do after he broke the news... she turned around with tears rolling down her cheeks and just disappeared into the night forest.

For the next few months, she have been on the run from this stallion because she barely couldn't look at him without falling apart or her heart breaking into even more smaller pieces but she could sense his silent yet protective presence always trailing behind her. She would scale up the volcano sides because she knows the stallion barely couldn't handle the heat but whenever she looks over her shoulder, she would see him determinedly stalking after her with his muzzle set in a firm thin line. "I will always be there for you. I will always be your protector. I will always love you" is his final words to her before she desperately tried to get away from him.

"Stay away from me!" She managed to scream at the stallion, holding back a sob while her fiery eyes glares at the stallion. "I don't want you.. here." Her voice cracks a bit while she could see the stallion's expression softening a bit. "Please.. don't.." She whispers as he comes closer before she suddenly swipes at him with a vicious hiss. "you broke my heart. Do you really think I can handle seeing you right now? Please... go away. I will come to you when I am.." She swallows hard. "... ready."

The stallion stares at her for few long minutes while the swipe mark on his chest is slowly oozing the blood and he didn't show any discomfort of being near extreme heat. "I will always be following you to make sure you are OK. Don't look back. I am always here for you." He tries to lean over to nuzzle her but gets a swift slap from her fiery tail. "Mm... message received.." He slowly backs away and watches his best friend disappear across other side of the volcano. The mare's vision was blurred as she almost slipped on barely cooled lava stream while she sprints away from the volcano, knowing the stallion is still behind her like he promised.

A ragged sob could be heard coming from a still heartbroken mare while she disappears into the scorched forest.

Prompt Response:

Gritting his teeth, the stallion tracks after his best friend from his icy home to the land of hell ( according to him) because he made a mistake of starting something with her and now she's on the run with him following her closely behind to ensure that she doesn't do something stupid. "This is worth it. This is worth it." He chanted to himself quietly as he dodged whatever obstacles the mare threw in his direction in an attempt to slow him down. This is one of the very few soquilis he is willing to go the distance for and do everything for due to his lousy childhood experience along with his incapability to connect with others on emotional level.

He have been always very snarky little b*****d that will lash out at anyone who would try to get close to him. He's very misunderstood until that fateful day when he met the pawed fiery mare whom immediately hated him and started spitting out venom at him which fascinated him because a lot of soquilis would run away or cower. But not this mare. She stood in his face defiantly and told him that he will never beat her or own her in any form which he replied with a smug smirk that he will have her falling in love with him, wanting him and beg him for more of what he has to offer. The mare laughed in his face and that was the start of their unsteady friendship which gradually became a friendship that nobody could break or get in between those two. They developed a sibling relationship which means they pester each other, attack each other to test each other's strength and dexterity and just to see if they can get a reaction out of each other. The stallion threw himself into the sibling relationship because he was the only child in his dysfunctional family and this mare was the sister he never had before.

One day, he decided to start testing his friend's patience by pestering her by nipping at her body or kicking at her lightly which provoked her to start a play-fight with him. It resulted with him pinning her down and her staring up at him with wide eyes while saying those few words that started a new chapter in their life- "It was a bad idea."

For a year, he got everything he wanted. It was a paradise to him just like it was to the mare he was currently with. He was dating his best friend but there's a huge obstacle standing between them really cementing that is his feelings or lack thereof. He could see the mare's feelings grow for him in leaps and bounds but his feelings is still not enough for him to move them to the next step so he struggled with how to talk with her about this because he knows it was not fair to her at all. "We need to talk." The stallion quietly says to the mare whom was all cuddled up with him under the moonlit skies among the tall grass. After 10 minutes of discussing which actually went well to the stallion's surprise and relief, he got to witness myriad of emotions in the mare's face- stunned shock, confusion, distress but the most prominent emotion is heartbreak. "Please wa-" He tries to call out to the mare that is already rapidly becoming smaller into the distance. He shouted out the words that he knows she would be able to hear- "I will always be there for you. I will always be your protector. I will always love you" and he smiles weakly when he saw the mare's legs falter a bit before speeding up, indicating that she have heard him.

For few months, he have determinedly trails behind the mare with occasional weeks where the mare thinks that he have given up and gone back to his icy home but in reality, he is pacing his time and giving her some space to recoup her feelings. He couldn't forgive himself for shattering his best friend like this but he knew it wasn't fair to her if they kept up this thing they had going on so the only thing he could do is silently protect her, remind her that he's always there for her and hope for the redemption.

His best friend have led him across the most dangerous courses which slid the thoughts into his head that she's probably trying to kill himself or even worse, herself. As he find himself clinging to the side of the cliff-side on very thin ridge, he shudders a bit as he watches her deftly jumps from one ridge to other that leads toward her own homeland which he dubs as "Land of Hell". "Ugh.. seriously." He mutters to himself as he follows her by leaping from a ledge to other, trying to ignore the sound of his heart pounding in his ear. "Why here?" He mutters as he picks up his pace while he sees his fiery friend break out in a sudden sprint with her fiery tail and mane streaming behind her. As her red eyes connects with his eyes, he dips his head little bit in remorseful way when he sees a solitary tear rolling down her cheek when she changed the direction. Now they are heading toward the volcano.

Joy.

When the mare finds herself somewhat cornered near the edge of an extremely active volcano and screamed at him to stay away from her, he swallows down the lump because it is tearing him apart to see her so... broken. "Honey.. listen to me.." he tries to move closer to her but a sharp burst of pain blossomed across his chest and he looks down to see swipe marks there from his friend, soft heart-breaking weeping could be heard coming from her. "Come on, hon.." He tries to nuzzle her but a searing heat from her tail slapped him across his muzzle. Refraining from wincing, he just simply stares at her and murmurs softly "mm... message received." He watches the mare spins around on her paws and sprints off. "But you are not getting rid of me that easily." He mutters while he dutifully follows the mare deeper into the land of heat and misery (according to him.)

Prompt Response: Sunlight never bothered him, not the way that he thought it would. It was warm, but he was cold. It made for a nice balance. Kapetanios Psychros took steady steps forward, large form moving with ease through then thin underbrush. It wasn't too warm here, not yet, but he had a feeling in the coming months, should he decide to stay in the area, he would be looking for mountain peaks, rather than this slow decent into a valley between them. Still, this was the path that creature took, so it was the path he would take. He would find her, it was just a matter of time.

And Psy, yeah, he could be patient.

There were faint scorch marks that showed her passing, just a bit of burned leaves here, or there. A singed stick. A paw print edged in black. Small things, but it made her easy to follow. Almost like she was leaving him a trail, like she was taunting him. Well, if that was her goal, it definitely worked. His pursuit was as inescapable as winter was. Perhaps she thought she was faster, or stronger, or just better than he. But he new the truth of it.

Heat and cold? Ice and Fire? Both powerful in their own rights, both equally and devastatingly weak to each other. Maybe that was why she had come after him in the first place. A preemptive strike? Trying to intimidate him, make him afraid, simply because she was. Perhaps. Or maybe she was just hot headed and needed to chill. Psy would never be able to tell. He had no affinity for fire, or those that lived by its sway.

Her attack, though, had taken him by surprise, though perhaps he should have expected it. It was the longest day of the year, what they called the Summer Solstice here. Psy supposed that it would make her feel more powerful, the day when it was the furthest winter. Still, waiting until that Solstice was foolhearty. Though it may have been a type of power for the fire creature, it was also the turning point when summer started the inevitable decent into winter. Every day, the cold got stronger while the warm got weaker.

Psy wouldn't wait until the Solstice, for his solstice, to finish this little game the other had started. No, he didn't need too. After all, ice was not his only strength. It would protect him from the fire, for a bit, sure, and the ice, his ice, would make very neat little scratches on her fur, so that his poisons could work against her. It was something that he was taught a long time ago, by parents he could barely remember. The right combination of plants and herbs and he wouldn't have to rely on his strength alone to defeat his enemies. Just one scratch, one break in the skin, using the spines of ice along his back and tail, or the horn on his head, when coated with the poison, would make sure that he would always win.

Now, he wasn't actually going to kill her with what he had planned. Just make her... unable to fight him until he found someplace he could put her on ice for a while. After all, it wouldn't due to finish her off without some answers as to why she had attacked him, and lead him on this wretched chase to begin with. All he had to do was catch her, now, and like the ice do the rest. With a smirk, he descended, making his way carefully down the slope. Perhaps this would turn out to be a nice day after all.

Prompt Response: The absolute and utter nerve of this mare! How dare she think she was too good for him, how dare she reject him?! He was a Prince, the absolute power of his home! She had the audacity to trespass upon his lands, and when he demanded his due she snubbed him! Such arrogance! Such audacity! He would not be disrespected in this manner! He would teach her a lesson she would never forget!

So he chased her, and she ran swift as the wildfire. After a few miles of this, he began to have second thoughts. Had he perhaps been wrong about her? He was losing his stamina, he who had never before lost a race, and she was still running effortlessly. Was she more than just a pretty mare? Was she...a goddess? Yes, that would make sense, wouldn't it? He was a Prince, and nothing short of a divine being would be able to elude him this way. Only a goddess would be so pompous as to toss her head and declare him beneath her.

These thoughts were what led to the current situation. He had finally caught up and she was standing waiting for him, the sun bracketed behind her head and setting her utterly aflame. "Goddess!" He called out to her, not realizing that the wind on the plain was carrying his voice away so she couldn't hear him. "Goddess! I can prove my worth to you! My people will serve you! I'll serve you! Come back with me! Let me show you the riches of my home!"

She had been leaning toward him, her expression obscured by the glare of the sun, but her neck snapped up and he caught what seemed to be disgust. What had he said wrong? She spun to run and he cried out. "Goddess! Wait! Please!" But she ran, and he could only stumble after her. He wasn't going to give up. He would prove his devotion, and he would win her over. She would make a perfect Queen, and he would no longer have need of his harem.

Prompt Response:

The mare rolls her eyes as she spots the stallion following her. "Oh brother, it was just a couple berries" She mumbles to herself as she darts into the forest, trying to evade him. She snickers to herself, thinking back on what she did. When the Stallion was tending to something, she sneaked up and stole a few berries from the pile he had made, quickly making off with them to a secluded area to eat. She hadn't been able to find any good food in the area since her arrival to his icy territory, so upon finding the pile of fresh berries, she stole a few and made off with them. She didn't think the guy would get so bent out of shape over a few berries.
The mare had been evading his pursuit for a few days now. She had to give it to him, he was very persistent. "Persistent bugger...it was only a few berries. How was I to know he'd take it so personally?" She grumbles to herself. "They were excellent though." She says smugly.
She continues on her way before a chill sets in the air and she knows he's close. She grows quiet as she moves cautiously through the forest, trying to find her way to the heated hills of her volcanic home. This wouldn't be happening if she hadn't had to try and track down one of her companions from home whom went missing, only to get word in the Icy lands that her friend had turned back up at home.
The mare comes across a small stream and decides to rest for a moment, bending down to take a drink. As she drinks, the stream starts to freeze over and when she looks up, the icy stallion is standing over her on the other side, his gaze dark and angered, cool steam blowing from his flaring nostrils. She looks up, eyes wide then she glares back, "Oh crap." This was going to get interesting.
