Chiara recognized that troll... the horns like a sheep, the wolly, curly pelt, that awful, yet seductive shade of orange... Yep, it was one of those... "twins". Chiara grinned devilishly. This was a pretty fun chance to stir up some trouble. "Heeey Kieonx!" The blueblood said, refusing to use the other troll's fake name. "Hey! Grumpy Blueblood!" Chiara yelled at the booth attendant. Another blueblood kid, running a booth. Chiara tried to keep the snarl off her face. What was with all the bluebloods?! Anyway, ]"Whoever this girl calls herself, we are on a team together, kk?" Chiara turned to her new partner. "Ready partner?" The blueblood said, licking her lips and leaning in.

Chiara growled as she only hit one target. It was probably because she was doing her best to make her partner feel as awkward as possible, but still, she wanted to have done better than that. "So," Chiara continued, maybe to pull some attention off her terrible scores, "Where is that little brother of yours? You know, the... tasty one?"

Hypnotised by the swinging, coloured lights, Kerras stood at the centre of the maze in a trance-like state. They had their laser gun in a loose grip, pointed towards the ground. All the lights, noise... shouts from other players, sound effects, the low hum of a motor... It was almost too much.

Kerras startled as a voice sounded nearby. They heard the signature “pew pew!” of laser fire. Instincts kicked in and Kerras bolted. Pump biscuit in their throat, they glanced over their shoulder. A half a dozen players were after them. Their weapons locked in the tealblood. Kerras dove head first around a corner. There was a crack and they crumpled to the floor.

Kerras came to suddenly, bolting upright. Eyes wide and pupils dilated they blinked into the darkness. Their gun lay beside them a few feet away. Around them it was quiet. The enemy players had long since come and gone. The tealblood could hear their shouts in the distance. They were alone.

Picking up their gun, Kerras got to their feet. They leaned to once side, still woozy from their fall. A lesser troll might have decided to take a break. Despite the bashing however, the tealblood had not lost their resolve. They clenched their fists and nodded to themselves in determination. They could do this! They crept down the hall in pursuit of voices.

After a minute of slinking around in the dark, they found a target, a troll with their back turned. Kerras just needed to take aim and... They pushed the trigger. They heard the signature “pew” sound effect, then their own jacket lit up, implying a hit. “Ah... um...” They might have been holding their weapon backwards.

The troll they had been targeting jumped at the sudden sound, and whirled to face them. Kerras had lost their element of surprise. They turned to take off running, but promptly ran into a wall. Again.

Was there anything the two of them couldn't do? Flydra didn't think so. She and Scorpa had taken a break from running their booth to get some exercise. Sitting in those comfy chairs all night was nice but heroes didn't stay heroes by sitting on their asses. Besides, Scorpa wouldn't shut up about wanting to see Malice's booth. Flydra was beginning to worry that the blueblood's friendship might interest Scorpa more than Flydra did...

"Let's go." She strapped on her gear over her bikini and dipped inside the arena. This would make good training for killing enemies of the crown later. Scorpa followed suit but there was a miscalculation in their strategy and route. Yelping in pain as the end of the yellowblood's gun smacked her in the eye, Flydra glared at her friend out of the other good eye.

"Keep it up and you're doing the ice challenge nude." She grumbled, turning her attention back to the game, back to her gun...

"LASERS! THIS IS SO COOL!" To say Scorpa was excited would be an understatement. She'd heard Malice was hosting a booth this year but hadn't managed to ask the blueblood what it would be ahead of time. Which is why she'd been whining about going to check it out with Flydra for a while. She hadn't been expecting such a flashy activity from Malice but then again, Malice seemed like the type of troll who went all in on the things she decided to do. That stubbornness was a fun quality of the blueblood.

"Oops." Scorpa replied as she accidentally bopped Flydra in the face. The girls continued into the arena and started shooting wildly at targets. Having the time of her life, the yellowblood started laughing in delight at all of the running and jumping until she noticed something. Was this... ?

"Fly, check it out!" Scorpa laughed and walked up one of the dummies that had stopped moving. Aiming straight at the dummy's chest, she started firing rapidly while grinning at her bestie impishly. It was obvious to them both this was totally cheating but hey, it wasn't like she'd broken it herself! She was just-

"Not in my arena!"

The voice of laser god sounded and Scorpa sheepishly dashed away and pretended she hadn't been doing anything. As she whistled innocently, she slung her arms behind her back and accidentally shot herself in the foot.

"I saw that."

"Dammit!" Scorpa cussed, half laughing at the stupidity of it.

In her mind's eye, the aliens weren't monsters. They were replaced with a scruffed up scraggly looking girl with a dirty red skirt. Bitches hiding in the shadows, under tarps and other corners. They had to be eliminated. It was for the betterment of Alternia. Flydra's normally relaxed and droopy eyes latched on to a set of two targets and widened to their real potential as she repeatedly pulled the trigger in a crazed manic trance.

"I WILL FIND YOU AND YOU WILL BURN-"

Scorpa had to eventually drag her away or they'd be late getting back to their own booth.

"Hell yeah!" From the sounds of it, Flydra was getting into this! Scorpa joined her in teaming up on the targets until she noticed her teal friend literally shaking and zeroing in on a particular dummy. The yellowblood didn't really get it but figured that it was time to go...

Scooping the medic up, she made for the exit and waved backwards to Malice. She had to get Flydra to Lorata quick, that was usually the fastest way to snap her out of these obsessive trances. That and blood but she didn't particularly feel like bleeding right now.
