Sephos Arbola

Sephos felt unusually busy. Maybe that was why his work was suffering a little, maybe he just needed to focus. But on what?

Tonight, it was on the road to the lake. Later, it would be in the greenhouse. And still, always still, home called him back to deal with the forest there. Sometimes, Sephos thought he would break, but then he remembered that trees bend. So he endured, but surely there was another way besides doing everything he needed to do.

But could he do anything less than everything?

Planting, at least, was easy for Sephos. He had always liked it - how new life took hold in churned soil. The new flowers - bred for a slight glow that he found lovely - beamed at him from their new home.

Inside, he felt like smiling back, but of course, on the outside, he was ever stoic.

Tsarzi quickened her pace when she saw the massive gathering of trolls around one of the walls. It took some indiscriminate leg shoving and shouldering, but eventually she reached the front where she could see. Somehow, someone had driven one of the roller machines from the road sites into one of the shelter walls. The structure there was half caved in, would need checked out and rebuilt then checked for structural integrity. It was an extremely unpleasant set back. Too many trolls were gawking and not working and they'd just had way too much added to their plates.

"Get back to work, there's a lot more to do now," Tsarzi called, moving forward to assess the situation so she could locate the right trolls to get this repair in motion. What a mess.

Tsarzi checked back in with the last construction crew and see what the space crew had decided to do for the damaged wall. Taking note of the listed plans and procedure, Tsarzi went to collect the necessary supplies and while checking to see if anything else was going wrong across the settlement.

Sephos Arbola

Sephos could smell the forest. The Autumnal smells of soil and leaf, of trees turning to sleep in their cold perigees. Enduring frost and flame, rain and drought. More of those lately, of course, but the forest adapted. It survived. It had, Maku had told him, survived far worse many times, for many ages far beyond Maku's own lifetime.

Sephos could smell the lake too, of course. Water and the smells of things manufactured. Something he had noticed about the resort - they were close to the woods, even inside the woods, and yet they kept out the natural messiness of life. Cleaned it up, as if it was dirty. Why?

Sephos didn't know... but the road was getting closer, and the smells of home -- or not quite home -- emboldened him in his work.

Sephos didn't know much about tending to animals, and it showed. After much stress and frustration, he managed to muck out a stall. A stall. One.

Fortunately, he got the manure afterwards, which he was happy to put to work. It smelled, but the plants would love it once he'd let it compost for a while - to tone down it's edge, so that it wouldn't 'burn' the plants. Sephos had never quite understood it, but it smelled... warm. Not good. Maybe that was why?

Either way, once it had mellowed, it would be his. And then, it would be plant food.

The road... it only needed a little more smoothing, and then, he had been told, he could 'go wild' with the beautification. He already had some ideas about what should go on the road's edges... Something nice. Something sturdy. Something of Four Fronds, maybe? A bit of the forest, stretching out into the plains?

Did he miss home that badly, working out here, that he wanted to bring it with him?

But why not? It would be a good addition - trees always were... but, maybe - he aceded - maybe he should consider planting the edges with shrubs and grasses more appropriate to the plains. Something... nice smelling, maybe - one of those oily bushes that smelled nice? Or was the area too wet for them?

Back to the animals again - Sephos guessed that someone had to do it. This time it was him, and somehow -- again -- he managed to get the beasts into their paddock, fed, watered, and ready to be... shorn? Whatever that was. Sephos wasn't sure if he knew.

Either way, task done. And well. Somehow. He was very ready to go back to his plants, though...

Things were proceeding as per usual in at the other sites, or at least within an acceptable margin of error. More concerning that the average forward momentum of the projects was the dented damaged walls of the disaster shelter. This close to being finished and taking a blow like that was not good. So, she cracked her neck and set to work. With the instructions clearly telling what needed done and Tsarzi overseeing and working at it with a single minded focus, the fix was made in no time..

Slow going... That was the name of the night. Very slow... ponderous... painful... going. Unexpected setbacks, he was told, and he supposed that was an apt enough name for the tree whose roots snaked beneath the next stretch of road. It was an old tree, a sentinel of the forest his lusus had called it, providing a piece of forest shade, far from the company of other canopies.

He couldn't bear to destroy it - he would have to find away around it.

More flowers dying - was he using the wrong mulch? The wrong food? The wrong watering? Or was it just not the right breed of plant? Did he need to try again?

He could -- there was always a way to fix things, life was like that. Resilent. Propagating... He moved the failed plants to the compost pile, and moved on to the next project to care for.

Tsarzi wiped some sweat from her forehead with the side of her hand, taking a moment to glance over progress. The road had some a long way. They were nearly to the point of finishing touches. They should all be about even now. Not long to go at all. The thought was invigorating, and Tsarzi got back to work, glad that her had was back in working order.

Getting back to the main settlement from the ends of the road work was getting to be a rather lengthy trudge, forced her to pace herself lest the be too exhausted to perform nightly chores that kept the place in good working order. Swinging by city hall, Tsarzi located the list with noted repairs that needed done and set to retrieving the walk patching supplies. Most of them were indoor housework fixes, though a few looked to be plumbing and such. She'd look into those tomorrow, see about brushing up on information there.

Nictor took a second to make sure he was balanced before he replied.

"Ahh, I, uh, I g-got it. Uhm. C-could you sh----ow m-me wh---ere t-to go th-though?" The gravel pile was a little high and he needed some guidance to be sure eh didn't run into anything. It was up to luck if he tripped though. Once the bags were delivered he could take a moment to think about what Hemera had just said.

Byproduct resources? Is that what it was called? He didn't know that one, but honey was just bee food that tasted good to anyone. Huh, most of the stuff he'd gotten together for bloodfest had were made form byproduct resources then. The honey, the beebread, the beeswax.

Nictor blinked and perked up a little, listing in interest. He didn't know anything about Hemera's lusus. Wax? Did it make wax, no it was made of wax? The was interesting but also probably not very conducive to hugs unless Hemera was happy to be coated in wax the way he got covered in pollen. The max everywhere sounded messy. A bubble of warmth grew at the complimentary sentiment towards Beehemoth, but it gave way to a curious notion.

"Uh, ummm," Nictor waffled, trying to worked out the question. It was so strange to him. "W-w-why is us---ing the w-wax b-bad?"

Wait why did he ask a question? As soon as it was out a trill of anxiety rang down his nerves but it was a little late to second guess now. It was just such an odd concept. Beehemoth was always supportive and helpful for anything Nictor wanted to do and was the one that suggested maybe they try something like bloodfest.
