Personally I ended up siding with the Brotherhood. I felt they were the best hope for the commonwealth. The institute were corrupt. The minutemen is a good choice and the Railroad, I dunno about them.

Hmmm... The Brotherhood was my first choice. They wanted to liberate the commonwealth. The institute was hiding instead of helping people topside. The railroad I thought was kinda crazy. The minutemen was my second option but they were allied to Bos so were all good. cool

I sided with The Railroad because freedom is non negotiable. Even a person who was built can still be a person and nobody should be a slave,
and I got a cool code name.
I see a lot of people sided with the Brotherhood which I can understand, especially because you can meet with them early and get resources and weapons, not to mention that the BOS are familiar and are the good guys in 3 and are even underdogs in New Vegas. But as I was watching my friend play his BOS file, I noticed a BOS initiate saying something along the lines of "We Liberated the Commonwealth!" while like 2 vertibirds flew in front of the Prydwyn, floating in the background. The BOS OCCUPIED the Commonwealth, moved right in and without the Institute acting as the big technological baddies, they are pretty much free to rule the roost, ultimately removing freedom from the people.
