The Harvest Moon Jubilee is celebrated planet-wide. Some cities have large events such as huge, gaudy parades, while other troll revelers prefer a quiet night with their lusii. It’s traditionally a personal event, loved by wigglers and adults alike. And in the plains of New Hemisect City, the Jubilee came with wild nights of hooting, hollering and a feeling of true troll family – or, the closest thing Alternia has to family in the rural community of hardworking farmers and ranchers. This sweep, the New Hemisect Plains was lit up like never before for the festivities.
Traditionally, the trolls of the plains kept their celebrations within their working class groups. An extended harvest market, some booths, rodeos and fauna wrassling for the wigglers, and bartering would last the whole week. With other celebratory traditions, the Harvest Moon Jubilee came and went each sweep with cheer and joyful festivity. The simplicity and rusticity of the plains was purely appealing to one Panili Synemn. With an eye for harvest invitations and a carefully crafted guest list (see: every troll she could find!), the young orangeblood set out to put the farmer’s festival on the map!

Advertisements for this particular Jubilee celebration were spread personally to each town, stapled on posts and slipped under hive doors. The chance for a secular, non-military, non-government affiliated festival was too good to pass up, and soon any troll paying attention would at least hear word of the friendly fliers advertising a simple time and place.

Quote:
“Join your troll brothers and sisters at the New Hemisect Plains Harvest Moon Jubilee this sweep on Harvest Moon night. Vendors, Parade and Activities provided – come with your lusus, your quadrantmates, and a healthy appetite. Joy to all! 0:]”

When you enter the fairgrounds, you’re surprised at the breadth of the festivities. It’s no high-budget caper run by Empress Marian, but you can’t help but wonder where the rural villagers store all of the tents and festival supplies during the sweep. Immediately smells of frying foods and homegrown spices fill the air as a gust of wind gently shakes the green and pink lanterns that hang in strings across each wide alley of colorful awnings. A surprising crowd has come for the festival, and the townsfolk are loving it! Primarily lowbloods and midbloods, the sudden swell in tourism has the fields pumping. Food and prizes are being chucked here and there, wild squeals and clucks of farm fauna come from every direction.

The colorful lanterns and other homey lighting solutions are the only source of light other than the bright splash of stars in the sky, and Alternia’s blazing moons. A typical evening for a troll, but made all the more magical by the cast of lime and magenta streaming from every angle. The universe, and your fellow trolls, seem much closer tonight!

In the middle of the festivities, there is an impressively sized haystack that has been serving both as a food source for the livestock of the jubilee and an attraction for passing guests. A sign has been posted at the “front” of the stack, guarded by a friendly tealblood farmer. “Come on up!” She hollers. “Find the needle in the haystack! Take as much time as you want and win some tickets! Needle gets you 15 whole tickets! Button nets you 5, an’ hay in yer hair gets you a nice li’l ticket for comin’ by!”

If you would like to participate, simply roll 1D100 once a day, using the following code. You get 15 tickets if you find the needle by rolling a perfect 100, 5 tickets for finding a button by getting a multiple of ten (10, 20, etc) and 1 ticket for just giving it a try. Searching the haystack must be accompanied by at least 50 words of RP.

What better way to celebrate the Two Moons Harvest Jubilee than to make some fresh mooncakes? A homey tent has been set up by a very curvy greenblood farmer and her equally round quackbeast lusus who call you over with zeal when you pass by. “Hello, darlin’, you look like you're handy in the nutritionblock! Come on over and try cookin' some mooncakes - it's free! I’ll even give you some tickets if you make me something I can sell!” She laughs boisterously. “Feel free to sample!”

If you would like to participate, step right up! The goal of this game is to create the highest quality cake you can muster, your troll can try once per day. Better cakes earn more tickets! Roll 4D4 and refer to the chart below. Your results will correspond with the batch of mooncakes you create, and be the amount of tickets you earned from that batch. If your total score is 0 or under, you do not gain any tickets that day. Making mooncakes must be accompanied by at least 50 words of RP.
      Example: Troll A rolls 4D4 and gets: 3, 2, 1, 3
They make a batch with a smoky filling (+1) and a chewy crust (+1). The design was pressed too lightly (-1), but the mooncakes was perfectly cooked (+2)! They get 3 tickets today!

      Mooncake Cooking Results
      Filling:
      1 Cloying (-1)
      2 Nutty (+1)
      3 Smoky (+1)
      4 Fruity (+1)
      Crust:
      1 Mushy (-1)
      2 Chewy (+1)
      3 Flaky (+1)
      4 Tender (+1)
      Design:
      1 Press too light (-1)
      2 Press too hard (-1)
      3 Stamp uneven (+0)
      4 Stamp perfect (+1)
      Baking:
      1 Undercooked (-2)
      2 Well cooked (+1)
      3 Perfectly Cooked (+2)
      4 Overcooked (-2)

A tiny yellowblood farmer with huge tusk-like teeth sits quietly at a booth. In big white painted letters it reads “CROP BARTER W BARTLE” – there’s a description nearby, written in scrawling, splatted paint. 'Got some leftovers crop from the harvest to use in this here game. The criters round here got need for supply & demand? They like snuflin punkins one night and tarnips another, than the next night theys eaten all my totatos. Whats a troll to do. Anyhoo, the amount I'll pay for yer crops in tikets’ll change durin' the jubily so you best do yer maths.'

Crop Bartering is in season! This game will take place through the duration of the jubilee.
Bartle has three huge barrels of crops: punkins, tarnips and totatoes. When you first start playing, roll 30d4. For each 1 you roll, you get a punkin, for each 2 you roll you get a totato, and for each 3 you roll you get a tarnip. If you roll a 4, your troll is given a pick - and they get to choose which crop they would like. You cannot exchange/turn in crops on the night you select your initial crops.
Each day, there will be an exchange rate for each crop and for turning over crops into ticket profit! It’s up to you whether you play the crop stock market to try and maximize your ticket gain or not. Each day, you can only trade or turn in a maximum of ten crops - so use your turns wisely.

      Night 13's Exchange Rates
      1 punkin = 1 totato = 1 tarnip
      2 totatoes = 1 ticket
      3 tarnip = 1 ticket
      6 punkins = 1 ticket

An enormous, hugely enthusiastic and hugely greasy yellowblood rancher stands at the entrance to an immense pen filled entirely with mud. You can hardly make out the contents of the pit, but it looks like something or other has been thrashing around in there all night. Connecting with the pen are two cages – one quite large and one much smaller. Snuffling noises can be heard from within. “Wrestle a snooooooutbeast! WRESTLE A SNOOOOOUTBEAST! SNUFFLING! GETTING DOWN AND DIRTY IN THE MUD! GET IN HERE!!!” He suggests. There are tickets implied to be won, and there is quite a muddy scoreboard tacked to a post nearby.

The game is played by wrestling the pig into submission the quickest! You’ll be timed by the large pig farmer whooping and hollering at you from the sidelines as you attack your age-appropriate snuffler. First, roll a D4 and refer to the D4 table. If you progress to the next table, roll a D6, and so on and so forth until you CATCH THAT SNOUTBEAST! Tickets earned are 1000 (yes! 1000!) divided by your final time (see the table below and add all the time increases you rolled together), rounded up. You only have one shot for the whole jubilee, so make it count! At least 50 words of roleplay are needed in each wrasslin' post.

In the homey vendor area of the festival wafts a delicious smell. You follow your sniffnode and eventually find a peculiar sight – a huge simmering pot filled with fresh veggies and spices of all kinds! Trolls seem to be coming and going, dropping whatever they've found into the communal broth. Trolls are encouraged to add their contributions to the pot for tickets - and for a delicious meal afterwards for all festival-goers. They don’t seem particularly choosy, so it seems like the quality of the dish is up to you!

To add your ingredient to the pot, roll 1D4 and refer to the chart below for your ticket results. The number rolled is also the number that will be added to the quality score of the final dish, and determine how good it tastes! You may add ingredients once per day, although you have two extra options to try and increase the quality of the dish even more, and to try and squeeze more tickets out of your 'generous' donation. At the end of the event, the pot's final quality score will be divided by 10 and everyone who contributed to the dish will gain that many additional tickets.

      Additional Options
1] To improve the quality of the dish, you may also add one crop from the Crop Barter tent per daily roll! You will permanently lose this crop and cannot regain it, but the stew will thank you! Your quality score goes up by +1 for today, raising the final ticket jackpot - however, the tickets you gain from today will not be modified.
2] Double or nothing! Roll 2D4 instead of 1D4 and use the second dice, along with the results of the second spoiler to modify the results of the first spoiler.

      Adding Your Ingredient
1 Icky! You really picked a rotten ingredient to put in, didn’t you? (0 tickets, +1 quality score)
2 Mediocre. Tastes a little stale to you! (1 ticket, +2 quality score)
3 Yum, pretty good! This will make a nice addition to the stew. (2 tickets, +3 quality score)
4 Perfect. You picked the best ingredient to compliment the pot! (2 tickets, +4 quality score)

      Double or Nothing
1 You get no tickets from the Community Pot today.
2 You get no tickets from the Community Pot today.
3 Double your tickets for today!
4 Double your tickets for today!
I'm potentially poisoning everyone.
Quality increase: your total quality score
Barter crop: if you used a crop barter vegetable for +1 quality score, note it here

Please post the following code in this thread to claim won tickets. You can backdate claims (for tickets won on previous days). Please put a separate code in for each game/daily game that you won something at (copy-paste the code 3 times in one post for 2 different game wins and 1 backdated game win) and do not edit previous posts. If you made an error with your previous claim, quote the old post with a note of the error. We will not re-check old posts that have been edited! If you managed to get a heck of a lot of tickets and aren't feeling the raffle prizes, you can give fourty tickets to Save Sad Gerbs, the non-profit gerbil organization run by NummCorp. Such a ... generous donation will definitely increase your karma. Somewhere, in a galaxy far far away, someone will gain 1 event point for each 40 tickets sacrificed.

If you want to exchange tickets for ep, please do not claim them using the ticket claim! Instead, keep track of your current total, and the link to each ticket-winning post. When you have amassed 40, you can exchange them using the code below. You can enter any left over tickets in the raffle, if you'd like to do both.

“Hello, darlin’, you look like you're handy in the nutritionblock!"
Was... Was she talking to him?

For most of his journey so far, little Mahmud had done nothing but cling to his mother's side. It was all Ommy's fault he was here! There were too many trolls, and too much noise, and... and he hadn't been ready for one of them to actually talk to him directly... never mind actually know what to say.

Finally, after a few awkward seconds, the boy pointed at himself, puzzled look on his face.

"Come on over and try cookin' some mooncakes - it's free! I’ll even give you some tickets if you make me something I can sell!”

Cooking? Him? Again, he fell silent, just staring up at Harpommy waiting for her approval. After all, he didn't want to do something possibly dangerous and and culinary unless the one creature who cooked for him on the regular approved. Even then, Harpommy didn't cook she kind of just... euch, he didn't want to think of it.

Harpommy didn't seem too distressed about her son taking the other troll up on the offer. In fact, she started to nudge little Mahmud over to the table. "Coo! Cooo! Coo coo!" she encouraged, and then proceeded to hop a little in place, excitedly. "Ommy... you really think? Uh..." With a deep breath, he turned around and took a few steps towards the stand, looking back to make sure Ommy was there one more time before turning to the Farmer, and then her own Lusus. "Okay. How do I do this thing..."

        Apparently, he was a natural.

At first Mahmud was hesitant, and even flinched when the other troll had tried to help him press the designs, but over a little bit of time he warmed up more and more to the idea of playing with the mooncake dough, and the idea of this lady's presence. He may still be on guard, but if she was going to gouge his eyes out with a cakecutter it was obvious she would have done it long ago. Even Harpommy joined in on the fun, taking time to talk to DuckDad (Which, to be honest, Mahmud wasn't even sure if he was a he... just that DuckDad sounded nice). By the end of it all, when he got to see his efforts, even the lady had to give a whistle.

"Well wont'cha look at that one kid... that there is one perfect mooncake. Y'all a natural, I knew it!" Harpommy and Duck(dad?) cooed and quacked in agreement.

As for Mahmud... he was too giddy to care. He was holding that mooncake like the Empress' royal crown, showing it off to his mom in excitement. "Ommy ommy ommy look look oh my gosh its so bEAUTIFUL look at the swirls! Ohhhh!" LadyFarmer seemed amused at his pride, and after a while of thinking she turned around and came around the stand with a box.

"Here kid... ya earned these." She gingerly plucked the cake out of his hand and placed it equally carefully into a box, next to some other cakes. "Its all yours. As are these." As if just getting to keep his cake wasn't happy enough, the kind troll gave him some tickets as well! Five, to be exact. Whatever they were for, it didn't matter. He managed to interact with a grown troll, and keep his cake, and that was a prize enough.

And no those weren't tears at the corner of his eyes.
Those were... some... liquid brown stuff that he had been cooking with. Yeah. No way was he crying.

"Thank you!" With that Mahmud quickly turned back and ran into his mom again. That was enough talking to her for today. It didn't seem like the farmer minded, since all he heard her do was give a little laugh and goodbye as well, but he clung to his mom and held his box of cakes with pride, staring at the other trolls around him, wondering if they were nearly as friendly as that lady was.

There was so much to do and see! Tempted to split up and tackle everything at once, Nucleo caught himself almost cloning before he remembered not to. He could only handle the clones for so long so it'd be better to wait and see what he could do on his own first. Plus he wasn't sure if he'd need them for later when he hauled up his prizes at the end of the festivities!

"I'll take it on!" Whirling around at the call of wrestling a snoutbeast, Nucleo dashed over excited. He had been worried that the festival would try to appeal to the highbloods and make everything clean and pretty. The fact that there even was a snoutbeast here made him grin and feel satisfied that the event organizer had made sure to leave activities for everyone to have fun! Stretching his limbs, the boy nodded to the farmer before heading into the pen.

"Hraaah!" The troll leaped and mud splattered everywhere.

"Oof!" It was harder than he expected and Nucleo groaned as he flopped in the mud with the creature. He was glad he wasn't wrestling the big one! But maybe next year...

Realizing he needed to first focus on the small snoutbeast in his arms, the boy tried to growl as they wrestled in the mud. He instead ended up laughing at the image of how ridiculous he looked, being so serious. Obviously this did nothing to intimidate the beast and it rolled over him in a mocking manner.

"Sorry!" Nucleo apologized with a grin as he turned the tide with a well timed grab. Wrestling the snoutbeast into submission, he did his best to try and keep his hold from causing the creature too much pain. It did not do the same and tried to kick as it flailed but the battle was already lost. As the farmer called out to let go, Nucleo obeyed and wandered over while wiping the mud off him the best that he could. Whoops maybe he should've saved this for last.

"Ooo how do I get one of those?" Spotting a stuffed snoutbeast on display, the boy saw his chance to bring home a trophy that proved he'd beaten this challenge! When told he got one for beating the pig (along with some tickets), the boy let out a cheer and accepted the prize eagerly. Then he was off to see what else he could do at the jubilee.

Treide shuffled along, her get up a little different than normal. Instead of wearing the long flouncy cloat, she was wearing a middriff bearing top, her loose pants and sandals, a satchel to one side, and of course her headscarf and goggles. Shifting the pack again, she smiled at CD who padded beside her. It was a nice night, and everything seemed so festive and fun. Treide wanted to run about and explore everything.

But ... Bartering? She loved to talk and screech and ask for things so this was right up her alley! Grabbing her produce, she checked the numbers. Mostly tarnips and then some punkins, but only three totatoes. That's okay. Tarnips sounded much yummier than punkins or totatoes.

With all the sights and smells, Amonee wasn't sure where to start first! The mooncakes gave off a delicious aroma (the non-burnt ones anyways) and it was tempting to dash over and grab at them. But along the way, the young jadeblood saw something too distracting and too irresistible to pass by. His cheeks flushed and he hurried over to the wrestling pit.

"Mister, I want that toy please! Let me wrestle next!" The squishy stuffed snoutbeast was just too adorable to not want. He planned to add it to his pillow room and laze around with it during his TV binges. The rancher grinned and nodded at him and before Amonee truly mentally prepared, the snoutbeast was loose!

"Hyaaaah!" A war shriek left his lips as the delicate painter jumped into the fray.

It was so slimy and gross and Amonee instantly regretted not tying his hair back for this. Oh Gog he was going to have to cut all of it off after this, wasn't he?! But for all his despair, he was doing a pretty good job grabbing at that snoutbeast. The jadeblood's stamina after several journeys around Busthind made him capable of taking a kick or two from the irritable snoutbeast.

"I- don't- like- it- either! Let me catch you and it will be done!" The words came as a half plea and half threat. Amonee's hands grasped the beast for a second before it slipped away again.

"Noooo!"

This was turning out to be a truly terrible decision. Amonee leaped at the snoutbeast in a desperate attempt but merely bounced off the side of it and smacked his head on the side of one of the pens. Ouch, that really smarted!

"Ngh- that hurts- my hair!" Some of his long precious hair had gotten snagged on parts of the pen and the pitiful troll spent more time focusing on releasing himself than the snoutbeast. Smoothing his tresses back in place, he turned to see the beast far away with a taunting snort in his direction. It was about to flee the small makeshift arena!

"W-wait, come back here-"

"So you want me to find a needle in that?" Nucleo frowned. He'd stopped by a large haystack in curiosity and been informed it was a game of sorts. It seemed harder than the snoutbeast he'd just wrestled even if it sounded less strenuous. Uncertain, he allowed himself to get nudged into trying it in order to appear friendly. He didn't want the tealblood in charge of it to feel like he didn't like her.

"I don't see it! Hmm..." His foodsack growled and the green blood blushed with a chuckle.

"I'll come back and try again later." With a wave he was off to find whatever it was that smelled so good.

It was hard to miss the haystack rising up in the middle of the festivities, but it wasn't until her second pass that Etsali realized it was its own game. Maybe she'd just been to busy checking out all the options, though, because really, how had she missed the tealblood yelling about finding a needle in a haystack? The thief paused to consider the thing again, sizing it up and making a decision with a quick grin. If anyone was gonna find the one shiny thing hidden in a pile of hay, it would be her, right? She practically dove in.

Unfortunately, that little needle eluded her. Hmm. She picked a few pieces of hay out of her hair and quickly promised the farmer she'd be back to try again later, getting a laugh and a ticket for her trouble in return.

All it took was one look at Mr. Aboarable and the young jadeblood felt a rush of energy surge through him once more. This was not going to end like this. Amonee was going to throw everything he had into catching this here snoutbeast. Taking in a deep breath, the youngster charged at the beast from an angle that forced it to run back towards the rancher. His arms wrapped around it and the two flailed in a painful looking embrace, turning over and over again until the snoutbeast was snugly caught.

"I did it! Please, if I may have the pillow?" Covered in mud from head to toe, Amonee pointed at the stuffed snoutbeast and motioned to leave it there until he cleaned off with a nearby hose. He sort of suspected it was there for vandals to make the place even muddier when the rancher wasn't looking.

"Thank you. A joyous jubilee to you, mister!" Shivering wet but happy, Amonee cuddled his prize in his arms and set off to check out the rest of the festivities.

Etsali was still picking hay off of herself as she moved on through the festival, waiting for something new to catch her eye. Maybe she'd meet up with someone she knew again? Or maybe a new game to win prizes from? Or maybeee...food? This time it was a greenblood motioning her over, and, well, the offer to try it and take a free sample was too good to pass up, wasn't it? Another smile for the farmer and she went to work!

Cooking wasn't really something she was...good at at all, really. At least, it wasn't something she'd ever put her mind to learning. She and Keeper just sorta got whatever food they found and that was good enough. But she watched a couple other people going through, and glanced at the greenblood for guidance, and eventually...yeah, this looked pretty good actually. A little squished because she'd pressed too hard, but good.

This time she left the game with a few tickets and a box of mooncakes and that was more than a good haul. She couldn't wait to share these things.
