Helki wondered briefly if it was just him or the sack that Professor Selene had brought along with them running low on candy when his latest candy retrieval trip came away with somewhat fewer candy than a majority of his earlier attempts.

Dropping the candy into the bucket, he returned for more candy. That was when he spotted Tavi who was seated on the ground huffing and puffing away as if the kitsune boil needed to pause for a moment to catch his breath. Concerned, he made his way over, crouching down beside him to gently press a nose to his cheek to try to draw the demon boil's attention.

"Are you alright?"

A cool nose pressed to a warm wind kissed cheek and he whimpered. The noise coming from hating to look so weak and worn in front of Helki. Helki was his pupil! He had to be the cool mentor but catching your breath wasn't cool! A frown and he stood up abruptly and laughed loudly, "OH YEA! I was jus..doing.." He trailed off with another laugh and raced away on a wink.

Dumb.

So dumb!

Tavi's ears flattened to his head in frustration. Racing towards Professor Selene he grabbed two handfuls of candy this time and avoided Helki on his sprint back. Filling up his bucket he hid behind a tree in the yard his house was out for a moment. Watching Helki with a pout.

What was he doing? Helki blinked a few times, confusion apparent on his face at Tavi's unfinished sentence when the kitsune ran off without completing his sentence. Did he just do something that he wasn't supposed to? The wolf boil didn't know what he was supposed to make of the situation, somewhat distracted now as he mulled over and replayed what had just transpired over and over in his mind.

Resuming work on the task that all of them had been assigned by Professor Selene, Helki gave a small frown as he looked around. If he could just spot Tavi while he made his way across the street to the house that he was assigned to, surely that would give him an inkling as to what was up with the kitsune. However, tried as he might, he found himself unable to locate Tavi at all.

Was Tavi deliberately hiding from him now? He couldn't help the dark thought that crept into his mind as he narrowly missed being discovered by the same human who came out of the house shortly after he was behind a hedge and out of her immediate line of sight, emptying another load of candy such that the candy bucket was now filled to the brim.

Tavi managed to fill his bucket finally after a few more runs. Back at the professor he frowned, trying to think of a way to recover the situation. Remembering the look on the wolfs face as he had left. Jacking. IT was hard being a super cool mentor.

Done with his task, Helki made his way back to Professor Selene's, looking somewhat chipper when he finally spotted the missing demon boil whom he had been looking high and low for. "There you are." He approached with a small smile, a look of relief crossing his features at the same time. Had Tavi remained missing any longer now, Helki was going to seriously contemplate reporting it to the Professor on the off chance that something untoward might have happened to the kitsune.

But it seemed like they weren't entirely out of the woods yet judging by the frown that was on Tavi's face. Tilting his head a little, he settled down next to the kit, stretching out a hand to gently rest it on the other boil's forearm before following with a question to gently probe. "Is everything ok?"

Tavi tried to play it cool, as Helki came to him he shrugged. Then smiled as wide as ever, "Y-yeah...come on lets get back to school. I have some snacks in my room." He yawned as if saying just tired and went ahead of the other.

Was it really just that?

Helki stayed put, his eyes on Tavi who was starting to make his way back to the portal ahead of him as a frown crossed his face. Was he reading things wrong and getting a touch concerned for nothing?

Even if there was something, there really wasn't anything that he could do about it if the kitsune wasn't willing to come clean with it. So he went after him, hoping that the bad vibes that he was getting was just a case of baseless paranoia on his part.
