[Bonfire Solo] Finding Food [Swarm]

It took all of Swarm’s resolve to step close to the fire. When she could feel the heat of it, like waves against her skin, she considered it a win. It seemed strange to her, even with all the growing she had done over the years, for such a large group to gather around the roaring flames. She couldn’t understand the appeal. It was warm, yes. But it was also dangerous.

But she was here to understand as best she could, even if she would have preferred the dark, chilly nights with only Brother and Sister as company.

It did make sense that such a large gathering would require food and when the call went out, she was eager to offer some assistance. So she left the leaping flames behind, let the other kin tend to that monster, while she went on the hunt.

Down by the Water

2 - There are some thick reeds near the waterfront that are sweet and tasty, if a bit stringy. You can bring those back for the feast.

She followed the scent of water, drawn to it after the heat of the flames. There she stood for quite some time, just enjoying the chill air. Then she drank, taking in large gulps, ears pricked and ever alert.

Only then did she cast her gaze around, noticing the reeds. She pulled them free, using her hooves to help dig through the soil. When she had a neat pile, she washed them dirt and mud off in the water.

It wasn't a tasty animal but it would suffice for now.

Hunting Grounds

1 - You follow some squirrel tracks in soft mud. You don't find the beasts, but you do find their acorns for fall. Yum!

She delivered the reeds and set out again and following animal paths to where she knew there was good hunting. Swarm moved with almost complete silence, her manner of hunting one of stillness and patience. She stalked and waited, listened and hardly even seemed to breathe. Her face gave no emotion, only the focused intensity of the hunt.

She found the squirrel tracks and followed them, winding her way beneath the trees. But it wasn't the quick little rodents she found but acorns instead. Not exactly her idea of a meal but she tasted one and then diligently gathered the rest up for the others.

Quiet Clearing

3 - Someone has planted some radishes and gourds in this area. You can either take them, or leave them for whoever put the effort in

The acorns she left by the fire and headed out again. It wasn't long before she came across the clearing and was stepped through a neat little vegetable patch. A quick look around betrayed no signs of the owner and with a little shrug Swarm picked half, gathering the roots into her mouth and taking off towards the bonfire. If you weren't going to guard your assets, they deserved to be taken.
