"I am aware that we have been delayed for more days than I care to admit, but that does not mean he simply vanished without a trace," the lion remarked in his usual, abrasive manner. His nose wrinkled, and he swiped at the grass in exasperation, casting his gaze upwards towards the falcon perched above him. It returned his gaze from atop the scorched branch with the same cool demeanour that the lion often elected to display.
"However in cases where the trail has gone cold for me, we had an agreement that you would show your worth," he continued, his gaze hardening at the falcon's continued indifference. "And so far you have failed to give me even a sliver of information, you haven't even had so much as a glimpse of what him," he snapped. After another snort he took a second swipe at the long grass and stormed forward once more.
"How can you lose a lion!" he demanded, his gaze flicking backwards briefly to catch sight of his companion as he soared skyward in what he hoped would be a useful scouting mission.
In all his days he had never been quite so irritated, but these lands were quite unlike his own and it was a legitimate question, he simply didn't understand how his companion couldn't spot something so large and distinct from the heavens!

"Pale, but lacking in a full mane," the lion concluded as Viher approached, his tone wry and expression even more so. He'd seen Viher as he drew nearer, quiet as the hybrid might have been, Destati had spent too much of his life tracking his targets to let anything 'quiet' slip away. Sometimes, even the sneakiest of creatures needed to be brought down, but it was Viher's lucky day in the sense that the lion was competent enough to recognise he was neither a threat or his target.
"Too small too," he observed, pursing his lips. He made no move to bridge the distance between them, but he didn't really give off a 'dangerous' vibe either. If anything he was cold, stern, but most assuredly not prepared to rip the green male to pieces. "Actually, you're entirely the wrong colour," he said with a small sigh.
"These are dangerous times to be wandering alone, particularly in these parts," he pointed out. "You would be wise to turn back and find a better place to wander until the region has been rendered safe."

How did one explain that while he hunted what was most certainly real it often came across as fantastical and imaginary? He, for want of a better explanation, seemed to hunt for ghouls and ghosts. They were all very much alive of course, they breathed and had as much of a pulse as any healthy mortal, but their mannerisms had always been quite unique.
...And there lay his problem.
His falcon had already seen to her own needs, taking flight to occupy herself elsewhere in an attempt to at least find him something to go on. He had been a touch too hard on her, Shuurei did all she could; but when it came to these targets and one in particular she was at as much of a loss as the rest of them.
"Assassins," he said simply and shook his head. "And the insane; though neither is the same as the other, they have simply chosen to wander within the same regions and cause havoc," he paused briefly and then clucked his tongue. "Or rather I thought they had and yet there is yet to be any sign of them."
He'd been out smarted again and it was infuriating.
Eventually he would have to call in the Calvary and have his entire collective put their skills to use.
"One of them is less likely to cause chaos on the condition you do not get in its way, the other is not so predictable," he admitted. "I would test neither's patience though."
