The lights had shone, and perhaps too brightly. The Volbeat would merely chuckle, taking off to the sky a little quicker than usual. Was this human-raised Pokemon truly so weak? His dodges were getting more and more sloppy.

Despite shielding their eyes, both Ari and Nikki were left with spots dancing thanks to Flash. Rubbing her eyes, Nikki glared at the Volbeat. "Ari, use Aqua Jet again." Nikki said. Ari rubbed her eyes as well before charging at the Volbeat.
The shinobi would watch as the lilypads started moving and then finally burst into tiny ones. It was at that point he realized what they were... several pokemon bunched together. He had a couple of options. They could always backtrack...but that would take precious time. The mission was the top priority..so probably not a good idea. Safety wasn't exactly the most prominent feature in his mind. So he was stuck with plan B. Taking a few steps backward and quickly assessing, he would start running attempting to jump over the gathered group of Lotad blocking the way. There was no point in fear for a shinobi such as himself.
The Skarmory would take to the sky ready to aid and jump in if things grew ugly. The pokemon seemed to be relaxed and having fun but there was no telling what would happen if Karasu didn't jump correctly...

Yes, definitely too sloppy a dodge... Ari's hit had landed, and hard. She'd taken the wing of of the Volbeat's sails almost literally, knocking him back into the water. He'd struggle for a few moments, wings bogged down by the filth and decay, but he'd pull back up with some effort. He stared daggers at the girl and her Pokemon, before suddenly rushing right at Ari! There was no more time for words; rather, he was aiming for a headstrong Tackle!

Unfortunately for the wannabe ninja, his leap wouldn't take him far enough. He'd land on one of the Lotad dancers, who wasn't so pleased about being stepped on. Pursing his lips petulantly, he'd retaliate with a surprisingly powerful blast! The geyser would throw Karasu into the air and across the land, past trees and the swirling breezes.
The child would land hard on the cracked, dry ground; it'd be quite a different area than he'd started. And he wouldn't be without damage; he'd landed a little too hard for that. But like it or not, Karasu was in a different part of the island.

"Great job, Ari." Nikki said, seeing the attack connect. Ari was proud of herself as well, "Now, move out of the way of it's tackle." Nikki said. Ari glanced back at Nikki and nodded before attempting to dodge out of the way of the attack.

The Volbeat just missed barely missed colliding with Ari. The goofy-looking bug gritted his teeth, pulling back up into the air. He needed to be careful; one wrong move, and he could end up dead It was his duty to stay alive as long as possible. For her. With that thought empowering him, he too off to the skies once more.

Ari just managed to dodge out of the way of the attack. Thanks to Encore, they had only one option. "Use aqua jet again." Nikki commanded. Ari nodded and sped towards the volbeat.

Hitting a flying foe wasn't easy; the tenacious Squirtle had only managed it once, and while it was a solid strike, who knew if she'd be able to land another? And for now, the Volbeat was still conscious and dangerous. WIth a loud hum, he'd summon all the energy in his body and send it blasting towards his opponent in bright green vibrating waves. With Bug Buzz, he didn't have to get close to Ari to attack her!

Nikki was furiously thinking, she wanted to end this battle quickly and she wanted to win. Nikki's aqua jet had missed, but she had an idea. It wasn't a strategy she wanted to rely on, but she was going to give it a shot. "Ari, counter it with Aqua Jet." Nikki said. Bug Buzz wasn't a move that would bring the volbeat close to Ari, so she could either try to dodge the vibrating waves or power through them to attack volbeat. Since Nikki didn't tell her which option, Ari decided on her own. Putting her head down and letting the water engulf her, Ari charged at the volbeat, attempting to break through the vibrating waves in her charge.
