Chiara
Sitting by the lake

They sat like that for a while. The crackling of the fire going so well with the lapping of the lake water. The silence between them was long, but it wasn't uncomfortable for Chiara, it was just relaxing. She felt the energy return to her limbs as she rested, her mind was still muggy and hazy from the going-ons, also maybe the smoke, but it was clearing. Finally, she looked into Zindel's face. Her smile crept its way back onto her face to its customary position and Chiara opened her mouth. "Lets go investigate." It was time to get the games going again. Chiara had to force it a little, but finally something inside her settled down.

Zindel was growing sleepy from the silence, the dancing of the fire lulling him into sweet, sweet rest. He was exhausted and tired, so when Chiara spoke, he was startled, awakened. Glancing over toward her, the creepy smile she normally held was back, and Zindel felt almost... Relieved? It was so much easier just to dislike her than to see her tired and pitiable. He didn't want his mind being sympathetic toward her shock-- He had been in that position before, but she deserved it. Karma and all that good stuff. It took him a second to rub his eyes and clear his mind of the tiredness, but after one more splash of water on his face, he was awake. "...Sure." He wiped his face with his cloak, standing up. His eyes were tired and sleepy, and his voice was more than a little empty. "What did you have in mind...?" Though he definitely did not want to approach the others, knowing the blueblood, he would probably be forced to anyways. It'd be best to just humor her. Maybe he could hang back and watch her do the hard work.

Chiara
Sitting by the lake

"Come on." Chiara dragged herself to her feet and scanned the area. She waved to one of the working drones and beckoned it over. The blueblood made sure to get Zindel on his feet and fallowing her as she walked over to the chaos. She didn't want to go over there where things were crazy and hectic, but it was something the old Chiara would do, so she forced herself to do it.

"Who is in charge here? Who can we talk to that is actually intelligent?" Chiara asked the drone. She did not exactly have a high opinion of drones...

Whoever was in charge, it was clearly not this drone. It looked down at the child as though she had posed it a mysterious riddle, causing it to stand for a few moments, ash-blackened hands clenching and unclenching as it tried to think. It was impossible to guess if this was normal for the adult, or if copious amounts of smoke inhalation was causing it to process things even slower than usual. Eventually it offered a question of it's own in return, looking around for someone to confirm if it was correct or not.

"Da boss is in charge?"

A large hand pointed up and towards the general vicinity that the ship's crew had begin to head towards, wavering around uncertainly in that direction.

Hemera perked a little at the tail end of a conversation she managed to catch. Captain? There was a captain around here? A captain could mean a few things- she believed the greenblood in charge of the attack on the rebels had that rank. But considering the proximity to this space ship, and the clearly military clothing the small group of trolls were wearing, she had a good guess that she might be able to meet a space ship captain sometime.

As she processed this insight, the two remaining lowbloods noticed her. They had age and rank on their side, and she was not immediately prepared to handle that.

"Oh, u-um. Excuse me." No, it wouldn't do to be shy now. Mera stood up straighter. She had plenty to represent, first and foremost herself; she couldn't screw this up. "Good late night. I hope I'm not interrupting anything. I noticed the situation and came to help, if I could." Four Fronds was burning, residents were freaking out, and drones were bumbling about. Meanwhile, the trolls here were utterly unperturbed.

"My condolences for your ship's condition." She was not sure there was any way to salvage it. Alternia had been land-bound for as long as she could remember. If she had lost something like this, she would be rather distraught. "I hope there were not too many casualties," she said with the utmost sympathy. Death was a natural part of existence, sure, and trolls bit the dust in violent ways all the time, but it couldn't be out of line to care, would it?
She didn't even want to start thinking about what had happened to the trolls living in the area. Or, really, the ones who got hit worst by the blast. In short, the ones not living so much anymore.

Still, trolls coming from space...in one piece...that's incredible! "Are there any wounded or ill? If anyone needs assistance, I might be able to find a drone or supplies..."

Mera looked around. Well, considering the burning buildings, it would be easier said than done. Though these adults might have the situation under control anyhow. It never hurt to offer.

Noting that she was in the presence of a seadweller, she gave them a polite nod. It was fortunate there was a noble representative for this event; as far as Hemera knew, the queen was still in Chittentown.
All the other trolls nearby were so young and no status to make up for it. Must because adults were better suited to use fire hoses, and children did best to just stay out of the way.

She refused to believe anyone would ignore the looming vessel if there wasn't a fire.

Chiara
Goin to the spaceship

Chiara rolled her eyes. What did she expect trying to get information from a drone. At least she had a lead now tho. "Alright, lets get going." the blueblood said to Zindel. She walked the way the drone pointed, scanning the area for an intelligent looking adult troll. After wandering a while, making sure the redblood was fallowing, she approached a sight she had never really seen in person; an adult troll. "Hey!" Chiara called, hoping to get his attention. "Come on! Lets hurry!" Chiara grabbed Zindel's hand and jogged up to the adult troll.

Alifax was a little more accustomed to the signs of fire than most, but even he had to react to the brilliant blaze making its way through Four Fronds with some alarm. This hadn't been what he'd expected to find on his way back to Frossa's hive.

As he neared the lake he saw an even more surprising sight: a ship, upturned, plunged straight into the lake. Where seadwellers tended to live, he noted.

Well, did it matter? It'd already landed. Whoever was to blame for it would probably be chastised quite a bit, but there also wasn't a ton for Alifax to do. He couldn't breathe underwater, and neither could any of these drones. What he could probably help out a little with was the fire.

So he hurried over to an arbitrary citizen, leaving the trolls he'd been walking with behind - they were probably a little more likely to know what was going on than the drones, who as he'd just seen weren't very reliable. "Hey!" he called as he approached, waiting for them to acknowledge him before continuing. "Do you know who the fire-fighting drones might be taking their orders from?"

Psykgi Mentha

The wings of Eridia's lusus – and Azrael's efforts – managed to dislodge Psykgi from her beatdown, shoving her aside quite effectively. Leeroi bit Eridia, and Psykgi felt a strange mix of glee and jealously. She used the piece of wood to keep her balance as she lurched towards Eridia again, her soul screaming within her, primally, for more blood. But this time, it was Ma'am – a suddenly thick mire of cockroaches engulfing half her body – that stopped her.

No. No. That was enough. This would not be allowed to go any further. No.

”But, Ma...” Psykgi protested, teeth still aggressively bared.

No.

The swarm's decision was final as it forced the makeshift club out of Psykgi's hand. It caught it before it hit the ground and swept it out of reach in a tide of white roaches, an amorphous tide that resumed it's centrality around its charge.

No. She had gone too far. Now, she would apologize and see what scant forgiveness she could glean from the lavenderblood. She was high caste. She could cull Psykgi right then and there. Psykgi needed to control this situation. Now.

”No.” said Psykgi simply, ”I won't apologize.” and for a moment, she almost wanted to start smashing bugs. It wouldn't be technically lususcide, right, since there were always more?

But the thought passed quickly, with a surprising shock of guilt. Indeed, the press of smooth carapaces and the subtly sweet smell of the roaches – something she could detect from long experience even through the overwhelming smells of swamp and smoke – calmed her enough to manage a proper smile. Sort of.

”And you have so many issues!” she commented snidely, ”Some now including broken body parts and lacerated organs. G-goodness.” The smile was not real. She was tired, and she just wanted to get out of here, to go with Leeroi and just... not be near either Eridia or Azrael anymore. ”I'm sure he's so qualified to help you with them, and gosh! Those are urgent. So.”

Why don't you go do that?

A horrid scream escape from the highblood's lips when she felt Leeroi's teeth penetrate her skin. The tears gathered up in her eyes. Her fists were clenched, white knuckles could be seen... Eridia still held her head high, her pride getting the best of her. Hell the child even granted him more space for him to chew. Everything was under control as long as she didn't cry. Yet thanks to Glitch, who hoisted him up, the biting was rather short. She sighed in relief as she felt nothing but a sting on her shoulder. The purpleblood chuckled at Leeroi as she clutched on her bleeding shoulder.

"Hope you don't die from dysentery." She gave him a cocky smirk and gulped hard afterwards, still containing everything but her words. She was hurt yes, but she wasn't admitting anything. Why would she? It wasn't like she couldn't let all the pain out once she was alone.

Her weak gaze locked up with Psy's, who was being held by the swarm, preventing her from hurting her. Eridia slightly shook her head, feeling woozy from the blood loss. Chuckling bitterly Eridia made her way clumsily towards the redblood, feeling like the winner she was bound to be.

She did felt like one.

"As if I ever considered broken body parts and bleeding organs an issue." She laughed bitterly again, occasionally looking over at Azrael with a semi-worried expression. Yet she quickly snapped back to her maniacally stoic self. She did notice something on the other's tone though, but she reserved that comment for later. "I should though, take care of that..." She now looked at her father. His eyes filled with dread and disappointment. It was all worth it.

The child approached Scarfettle and knelt down to look at Az's lusus in the eye. "I hope you realized he would eventually be exposed to this kind of turmoil. He'll be alright, he's strong."

They... no.. She had won. Yes it was all her. It felt so good.

Eridia stood back up clumsily and smirked once more. Now looking at the stars with glee, she knew she'd be locked up for a while. She wanted a at least one last glance of the sky before all she could see was the never-ending ceiling of her hive. And with that, the avian lusus led his charge out of the forest. Eridia twiddled goodbye with her fingers and walked away...

Proud.

Psykgi Mentha

Eridia left and, slowly, ever so slowly, Psykgi felt the rage subside to less blazing levels. The pressure of the swarm against her lessened, too, becoming more gentle and, also, disappointed. Ma'am was disappointed in her behavior. Ah well... Psykgi thought, rattled and a little bitter, as she moved out of the cluster of roaches, Ma just has to get used to imperfection, doesn't she? Now, she spared a glance at Azrael, who was lying there on the ground. She knew she really ought to attend to him. She supposed she should. But, right now, he was too associated with Eridia for her to want to bother with him. He'll be fine. she insisted to herself, moving at an ever brisker walk towards Glitch and the screaming Leeroi. She would much rather be with him and Glitch than anywhere else. In fact...

”Lets go, Leeroi.” she said, her voice tired. As distance accrued between her and Eridia, her face relaxed into something more honest. She was tired... worse, she felt drained. ”Somewhere else. Away from here.” She put a hand on Glitch's side. Already, they were starting to hurt from the beating she had inflicted, the exoskeleton of her hands stinging – or singing – with the aftermath of repeated pressure.

Tigwyn’s face screwed up into a look of curiousity. Another child so willing to help bail out the ship? What had Alternia come to. There was significantly less looting and pillaging than he’d suspected from the violent race upon crash landing into (what had appeared to be) an affluent city.

“Well, little lady, us five are all that’s left.” He reported dryly. His jaw visibly tightened. The thought seemed to rile him up a bit, and for the first time he struggled back into his regular blasé smile. “Y’all should get back to helpin’ your own people, you hear? What’s gone is gone, but the longer you hang ‘round here the longer some bloke croaks from smoke inhalation ‘cos you were too busy having a tea party wif us, yea?”

The orangeblood turned away and crossed his arms. Shenso stepped over to him and gave him a pat on the shoulder in condolence. He was a handsome troll, clean and bespectacled with his hair done up in a proper topknot. Long, dangerous teeth curled out of his mouth every which way and clacked occasionally as he mulled over Tigwyn’s thoughts. His red eyes flickered back and forth between the children, and now to another newcomer who was accompanied by a redblood. He looked rather lost for a moment, before finally opening his mouth to speak.

“OOOOOOOOOOII!”

Two figures stalked through the smoke. The short and stocky build of Loulah was recognizable enough as the casual glow of her prosthetics cut through the haze, but the other troll was a newcomer. Bandy, thin and disheveled with two huge horns that looped through one another atop her head, the captain was a wild sight. Her uniform was as ruined as her companions, if not moreso – she appeared to have ripped off her military jacket and wrapped it unceremoniously around her waist, revealing a tanktop with heavily scarred and tattooed arms underneath. Age-weathered and battle-beaten features including a slashed lip peppered her face, framed by large ears, a weak chin, intensely heavy eyebrows and a mullet spiked with grease and smoke. She lurched up to the group, brown eyes wide and furious.

“Ioyana. Mellek. Survivors?”

“No, Captain.”

“Brahck, relieve Jovian immediately.,”

“On route, Captain,” Loulah grunted. She walked straight ahead past the group on her own mission, dutiful and purposefully aloof to avoid engaging with the newcomers.

“We brief when Jovian is present; Brahck has been filled in.”

The captain sniffed and pulled her jacket off of her waist, slipping it on over her arms. She didn’t bother to button it; the arms were wrinkled and twisted where she had firmly tied a knot. A perpetual flat-toothed frown now turned to each of the younger trolls around her. She narrowed her eyes.

“Shoo. Unless one of you knows where we can find the current Empress.”

The drone addressed was skinny to the point where it looked undersized, and was wearing gloves several times too large for it, that it kept nervously tugging up as they slowly but surely slipped down it's hands. Focusing on the redblood, it gave the young troll a quizzical look, taking in his dishevelled appearance. Clearly Alifax looked like he had stepped out of a burning building, but it wasn't sure what a redblood would be doing living in this area. "Is your uh, is your friend's hive on fire ...? We've got no drones to spare - but we've got a few hoses if you want to try and pump some water up from the lake yourself." It flopped a loose glove towards the lake, where an abandoned cart could be seen with tens of dozens of meters of hose curled and stacked in it.

Goin to the spaceship

Chiara made a scornful face. Adults. Wow. No wonder they had gotten rid of them, these adults were absolutely terrible. "What are you even doing here? Adults were killed by the great glub." Chiara grumbled. She turned to Zindel, "Fine, if these nub nuts are gonna be unhelpful, lets go explore the spaceship ourselves." Heck, the adults even said it was weird no one was looting and pillaging. They were obviously from a more barbaric time. Chiara stomped off towards where the spaceship had landed, intending to get inside it.

Watching the higherblood stand up, Zindel was practically forced to follow behind her, adjusting his cloak and watching the seemingly older female bounce over to a drone. The redblood watched as the poor thing tried to think, feeling a little strange as they clenched and un-clenched their large hands. Zindel felt slight pity for the other-- Though drones weren't the most intelligent bunch, they still did most of the stuff normal trolls like them didn't have to do. All of the grunt work came from them. How did one even go about becoming a drone? He had no clue, and frankly, he didn't want to know.

Watching them point around the area, Zindel followed behind Chiara until the moment she grabbed his hand. He almost tugged his hand away before hearing a loud yell for attention, watching the scene with slightly interested eyes. These guys-- They were space travelers. They worked for the previous empress, and were war torn with much experience. A slight feeling of curiosity coursed through him, but he cut it off soon after when the blueblood interrupted his thoughts with a bold declaration of going to the ship themselves. He looked up at the burning spaceship before swallowing and clenching his jaw. "I-I don't think we should. They left it for a reason, y'know. And uh, it's probably locked or something. Dangerous for the public, probably." Hopefully. He didn't want to have to deal with more burning things, especially after the burn to his nose and his back.

While he said this, however, he followed after her. Maybe she'd stop. It was a possibility.

Wait...five? Dictys watched wide-eyed as Shenso called out, and Loulah and someone who looked very competent approached. This was someone who'd survived a lot of, well, skirmishes, Dictys thought, examining the scars that decorated her face. These people sounded...well, they sounded like what Dictys wanted to be. Never mind any of this petty competition stuff. Dictys was gonna be a real captain someday, just like this...this captain, who could get real things done and wasn't squeamish at the sight of dirt.

Someday, maybe. But ey couldn't do that by hiding behind Mommydaddy anymore, ey thought, brushing eir long fingers across eir lusus' body. At the sudden attention, Dictys stood up straighter. The fact of the matter was, they did now where the current empress was. So Dictys wasn't going to leave now when ey still had a chance to learn from trolls that Dictys would someday exceed. "She was at the Chittentown base the last any of us saw her," Dictys said, speaking up. "Sorry - I'm Dictys Glauci. She prefers to be called queen, though." It was one of Regina's stranger preferences, in Dictys' opinion, but what did ey know? "I think the best thing to do would be to radio in, or check with her..." Dictys' voice trailed off.

A while back, Regina had extended to em an invitation to the Seadwellers' Society, and had intimated that this involved some sort of direct line of contact. But ey was a little dubious as to whether she'd actually respond. "Is the missive private?" Or were they doing something nefarious? Dictys had to know.

Ey sent an approving nod to Hemera, who seemed respectful and had good taste to boot. "It's nice to see someone in our generation has some sense," ey conceded, flashing her sharp white teeth. Ey watched the little lowblood and her friend walk away in disgust. (What was it about bluebloods working in concert with redbloods that gave them over to such insubordination?) They, on the other hand, were not at all - what were they doing?

"Where are you going?" ey asked, raising eir voice and turning toward the pair. Were they going to attempt to enter a burning vehicle? That essentially had imperial property stamped all over it? Without access cards, to boot?
