The trek through the swamp was something Athene was not fond of, not that there was much of another option. It was this or run ahead to distract the royalists and while Athene was able to run, she'd rather help Vremea and others transport the mother grub. Not to mention she was starting to feel the battle on her, now that most of the adrenaline was gone. There was still a small bit of fear keeping her going though, making her continue her trek onward.
Where Reemus and Vos were, she wasn't sure. She knew where the scouts were, but only vaguely, and she couldn't really see them except Vremea at the moment. She was far more focused on keeping an eye on her surroundings as she moved forward, sloshing through the swamp. It was dangerous enough to be here anyways, but the risk was even higher trying to transport the mother grub. She could only hope that everyone else would be safe while she was focused on keeping anything and everything away from the mother grub. Already she felt vaguely unnerved by the sets of eyes that seemed to keep appearing from the trees whenever she slowed down.
Which was most of the time, considering what she was wearing. She had already ripped off the most of her poncho, leaving the fur (which was a gift from her lusus she was reluctant to let go of), and she was tempted to just take off her shoes and wade through the muck barefooted. Anything to get her to go faster or at least stop feeling so disgusting in this heat. Her hair, at least, was clipped back up so she felt better in that regard, but she still was sweaty even in just her tank top and a skirt, gloves tucked away in a pocket. No sense in trying to keep the muck off her hands when it was on every part of her. Oh how she wished for a shower! But the rebels came first and she was going to have to tough it out.
Even if it was utterly filthy and made her feel gross and slimy. Maybe it would have been better to be a runner.
She was drawn out of her thoughts by Vremea, lifting her eyes up to meet the adult's. She looked as bad as Athene felt and that was some regard of comfort to the greenblood, knowing she wasn't alone in the discomfort of the swamp. She wasn't about to complain, of course, that would have done more harm than good, but she wasn't alone. Even Vremea had ripped her clothing, part of her bustle gone, and all Athene could think was that she still had so much on that it had to be sweltering. Maybe she should use a lighter cloth when she remade it? It could help, possibly.
"I-I'm alright," She finally muttered out, realizing she had probably been staring a little long. The heat was getting to her a little. "Just trying to get through this, but we can do it Vrem," She added, taking a glance up at the sky. It was hard work but it had to be done and at least she had Vremea by her. That was of some comfort and it kept her mind off how gross the swamp was, for a little while.

[WAR BABES] [forera, luxara, rasali, aerona : 14 / 25]
Forera was so glad the team wasn't as directionally challenged as she was. Allowing Luxara and Aerona to continue in front of her for fear of leading the team astray, the tealblood pushed forward, stomping through the swamp-- Less tired than before, definitely, the adrenaline of loosing the kids still rooted in her body, but still feeling rather drained. While Aerona and Luxara took this part seriously, Forera couldn't help but feel a little confident they would not get caught no matter what. Maybe it was the cockiness that came from shoving the blueblooded kid that asked her for a chat? Maybe it was just the fact that she was surrounded by the team-- strong, capable rebels she couldn't help but feel had her back, at least for now. There were a lot of maybes, really. Her reasons were quite varied.
Pulling herself out of her thoughts, the tealblood heard her nickname slide out of Aerona's mouth and a grin spread across her face. "Right here," She murmured eagerly from nearby, an accomplished smile spreading across her face when she called for their codenames, glancing to the wagon and the trolls around it, thankful they'd managed to keep it safe from at least those terrible trolls. "We tooootally did!"

who accurately set the hero on fire for a thrill?
When Lorata had wished for water instead of the tunnels, this wasn't exactly what she'd had in mind. Making a face at the muck beneath her feet, she added 'running through gross swamps' to the list of things that made rebels awful and then nudged it higher and higher up that list with every step as the mud threatened to take her shoes. She refused to let this get her down, though, because she clearly had the best team to move through it with! Nothing was going to ruin her adventure!
Smile returning, she glanced back up at the teens and quickened her steps to make sure she didn't fall behind the group. She stumbled a little, because ground wasn't supposed to cling to shoes like that why wouldn't it stop, but once her balance was settled it wasn't so bad. "I bet they won't be so hard to find," she threw in cheerily, very sure of the fact. "Not for us, anyway!" Especially not with the leader on their side! He'd found the bad guys once already, so he could definitely do it again.
Not for the first time that night and definitely not the last, the seadweller sent an admiring look in Kursha's direction.

Beauty and the Beasts [Odette, Ganyma, Reemus 8/25]
Odette hovered softly above the surface of the mud, scouting out the terrain ahead. She used her glaive to cut away a path for the oncoming wagon, making certain that they could pass safely and quickly. A part of her wished she could linger behind some more, communicate with the other scouts and such. But she knew how important her job was, she wouldn't change it for the world.
She just wished it was a little less lonely.
Her hovering toes grazed against something smooth. It wasn't often she felt the touch of anything when she floated like this, the wind keeping the mud and grasses at bay. Looking down, she noticed a large stone, and one that would surely make passage difficult, at that. She reached down to move it aside, only to struggle fruitlessly and waste her energy.
Giving a glance back, she looked for any troll that would be able to help her out. Someone big and brawny... Ah, there! That yellowblood looked strong enough. Odette blushed a little. He was pretty cute, too. Odette gave a little whistle, waving for his attention.

Beauty and the Beasts [Odette, Ganyma, Reemus 15/25]
A shrill noise caught his attention, making him turn his head. Reemus blinked upon getting a good look at a dainty redblood who appeared to be floating. He had to rub his eyes even to make sure that this was actually happening. Sure, Reemus had been exposed to powers before; he had seen Voscil zip around plenty of times. Ah, Vos. He'd have to tell her about this the next time he saw her; the girl could use more fellow powered contacts. Whenever she'd zoom on back with him again, anyways.
Squinting a little, the yellowblood thought further about the hovering troll. She looked familiar, even if she was in a bit of disrepair, like the rest of them. The Scouts booth? Hadn't she been the redblood from that? Back when he was still, well, small? Od- something?
All of these ladies were too fancy for an increasingly gross situation like this. Athene, Mili, Vremea, and Od...ette? All stuck out like sore thumbs amidst the chaos. Shaking the thoughts away, Reemus looked about to see who the girl was waving at. He crinkled his brow in confusion when he saw that, behind one shoulder, no one. Other shoulder, to the best of his ability...no one?
Small bird was waving him down? Well, it wasn't like he was preoccupied. He wiped some of the sweat off his brow to look halfway presentable, although how presentable could a troll be with mud on his shoes, visible burns on his body, and bandages on his torso?
Better than that one crispy bloke, I guess.
"Umm," he started as he made his way over. "D'ya need somethin', miss?"

WAR BABES Aerona, Luxara, Forera, Rasali 21 / 25
Rasali was a proud troll, but after a journey this long and arduous, she was willing to admit that maybe she wasn’t the fastest troll. She and Forera were bringing up the rear of their group. Rasali slogged through the mud. At the very least what she lacked in speed, she made up for in sheer leg muscles. The mud squelched and made a horrible sucking noise with every step. Still, after nearly taking a header on the slippery, moss-covered trees they’d clambered over a ways back, Rasali was set to be content wallowing in the bog. Her lusus would be proud.
If Rasali was thankful for anything, it was her team. Under normal situations, a group of likeminded trolls all as headstrong as Rasali would have been a precarious situation. For a group of relative strangers, however, the four of them had managed to create quite the competent team. Each seemed capable of pushing forward both physically and mentally even when one or more of the others may not have been feeling it.
Considering how Rasali’s last rebel team had ended up was preventing her from truly embracing the team spirit, though. She’d wait until after the journey was over before she started weaving friendship bracelets.
Before Rasali could get too steamed over her memories, Aerona and Luxara at the head of the team slowed to a stop. Rasali rushed the last sticky steps to catch up. Her confusion was immediately washed away by awe and relief as she beheld the Mother Grub.
It wasn’t the first time she’d seen the Mother, but the sight never stopped being impressive. The creature was the source of all trolls. Among a society of conquerors and hell raisers and murderers, this was a creature whose sole purpose was to create life. It was in incomprehensible ability to Rasali. The fact that she herself was laid of a creature like this was too much to wrap her thinkpan around.
On a more present level, Rasali was breathless with relief. The Mother Grub was safe. What was more, she and her team were there to help protect her!

[WAR BABES] [forera, luxara, rasali, aerona : 26 / 25]
With her teammates, Aerona strode up to the grub and the other beleaguered rebels. The creaking of the cart gave her cause to worry. Any disturbance might dump all of the cargo in the treacherous swamp. She started to pace up and down the grub, looking at the other trolls nearby and giving them firm, but grim nods of approval. The rebellion looked worse for wear.
“The War Babes are here!” She announced to each, clenching her fist. “We’ll do whatever we need for the Mother Grub. Phoenix Initiative!” her cheers of confidence were simple and genuine. She hopped around each side of the grub before regrouping with her team, looking to Rasali expectantly. She’d established herself as the muscle of the group, not to mention the eldest and most seasoned. And, as much as she wouldn’t recognize it, Aerona sought the same kind of motivation that she gave to those comrades around her. A hand placed on her hip, she scanned the trees for the next path of the Mother Grub. It was a slow, but steady ride and the newly arrived group felt to her like a group of bouncers. Perhaps it was appropriate. She had to be protected at all costs!
Aerona’s attention snapped to a strange sound in the nearby bushes. “What was that.” She whispered. “Should we check it out? Draw it away from the group?”

who accurately set the hero on fire: 14 / 25 * Takes place before the hunt. *
Kursha's mood continued roller coaster. One moment he was fine and laughing, and the next he was sour-faced and serious. At this particular moment thankfully, he had settled for something in between. The swamp had certainly proven a let down, but they were making good progress in tracking the rebels so his spirits were not completely quenched.
Catching the seadweller looking at him, a boastful smile spread across Kursha's face. “Nah. They've lost all their cover out here. We're on an even playing field now.” And by even playing field, he meant that the Phoenix Initiative had lost what little advantage it had. The network of tunnels had been its only defence and with those far behind them, they were good and exposed. Kursha had the numbers, the technology and the artillery to take them down. Still, a few doubts niggled the back of his brain.
Doubts like where the hell even were they?
“With as many teams as we have out here, there's no way they'll slip through. Still, that's no reason to relax.” There was a warning note in his voice.

Keionx Rutace With Alexin and Zariah – Rescuing Miache!!!
With the younger blueblood down, Keionx tried to get to the redblood, but to her dismay, neither her nor the other lower blood was in sight anymore. All that seemed to remain was a... lusus of some kind, being pushed away rather rapidly. She would have happily gone after it, but the young blueblood had gotten up again and was thus the more likely threat.
Ah well, at least I can save one. she thought, and somehow that was okay. She pushed Chiara back to the mud and turned to Miache, frowning. Why wasn't he moving? She gave Miache a gentle, experimental shove, hoping to wake him up from... whatever it was. ”I don't know.” she admitted, but that didn't really matter. Keionx proceeded to do what one did to difficult rescuees – she picked them up bodily.
She picked Miache up and draped him across her shoulders as if he were only so many bags of flour. ”Come!” she said, glancing at Chiara and making sure she was indisposed and wouldn't pursue – otherwise she would have to hit the child again, and that wouldn't exactly be right. Not wrong, not exactly, but bordering upon it. It was good to be certain of these things again. ”Let us away!” she arched her shield arm behind Zariah and guided him quickly back into the murk of the trees...

Beauty and the Beasts [Odette, Ganyma, Reemus 20/25]
Odette held her hand to her face, pressing her knuckles delicately against her lips. How did she not recognize this troll? He must have been one of the royalist defectors. She pondered over him as he approached closer. It seemed that he had sustained significant injuries for his actions, that alone was usually enough to garner Odette's trust. Still, despite his aura of innocence, Odette couldn't help but worry. After what happened with Kursha, anyone could be a traitor.
She supposed she just had get to know him more personally. Pulling her hair out of her face, Odette fluttered her eyelashes. She poised one shoulder slightly higher than the other, leaning her head slightly as she addressed Reemus. "Thank you," she smiled politely, resting a hand on her cheek.
"I need assistance moving this stone out of the path," she explained, gesturing delicately to the boulder, "You seemed like a strong enough troll for the job." She smiled, batting her eyelashes again, twirling her hair with her index finger. With any luck, the troll would be strong enough to move it himself. Odette would have more fun watching.
