Glitnir was starting to wonder if he needed a break. He had done a lot of pounding the pavement recently, and while he didn't mind meeting all these people, he was starting to feel a little tired. Teaching Pages the ways of the war was different from teaching normal subjects; it involved submerging them in subjects that had no basis in the world they knew. It really was kind of exhausting, having to start from the ground up like that.

Just as Glitnir considered going home and turning in early, he felt a faint prickling of an aura coming from a side street. A Lieutenant was out and about. If he was lucky, it would be someone very new who could be taught about what was going on, perhaps convinced to try something different, maybe even purify someday. If he wasn't... there'd be a fight coming up. He hid behind a corner and waited to see if the aura would retreat at the feel of something stronger.

She had been told of her mission. She had been informed of her duty as a Lieutenant of the Negaverus. She had also been 'told' that her now 'Captain' would be over seeing her.

She had not been told that she could not go out on her own!

Advised maybe but ordered...nope.

And how could she not! She was faster. Stronger. Better than she had ever been! It was wonderful! Even as she gazed at the dent she had put in the trash can just by striking it. Stibnite was testing out her new found skills. And what better test subject than a live one.

Something caused her to turn around. It was a feeling on level with Leucite. Stronger than her but not a commanding offer. No this one was 'pure'.

"Time to play." And she was off, tracking the beacon she knew could sense her as well. Damn power signatures. At least it meant she was atop the area quickly.

Standing not far from it, Stibnite adjusted her hood to hide her eyes. "Come now. A game of cat and mouse?"

The aura was coming closer. It looked like a meeting was unavoidable at this point. Glitnir bounded up and around to meet the Lieutenant. "Business as usual today, Lieutenant?" he asked, keeping a tight grip on his scales but not raising them. If there was no need to fight, there would be no need to fight. "Looking for Order signatures? Draining targets? Or are you just getting used to things?" He really hoped it was the third option. If she was floundering, he might have some opportunities to try some things.

A dark smile played over her lips as she turned to face him. Under the shadow of her hood, she took the man in. Older. Dressed like someone from the times of the Roman Empire.

But what he held in his hands made the smile grow. Scales. Not a sword of bow but scales. Outside of one hell of a hit, she could deal with that.

Stibnite leaned her head to the side to give him a shot of her grin before she moved. She would not call her cursed cross. Not until she knew her fist needed more.

"Does it matter?" Her voice was playful as she launched off her back foot towards him, swinging her elbow around towards his head.

"Well- whoa!" Glitnir ducked quickly under Stibnite's elbow. "Know thy enemy and all that," he half-mumbled, backing away to give himself some breathing room. This woman must have been trained (or at least told) to attack Order signatures on sight. He held his scales up to prepare for a swing, but did not make an attack yet. "So, what made you decide to take on someone a full rank stronger than you? Just eliminating or chasing off any Order signatures you can find, or...?" He began running through options in his head: depending on her tactics, he could use his magic to slow her. Or he could just strike quickly. He'd have to wait and see.

"Does it really matter?" Stibnite smirked as her elbow came around, just missing his head. That brought about a look of annoyance that she knew he could only make out the lower half.

Using the momentum, she brought her leg around aiming those steel toed boats at his chest.

So, if they got stronger, did these so called knights? She was curious as she moved.

The kick to his chest hit solidly, and in that moment Glitnir was very thankful for his Squire armor. He staggered back from the impact, and when he caught his footing he quickly pressed down on his scale to activate his magic. It would hopefully slow her enough for him to get a hit in. It was unfortunate that things had come to blows so quickly, with no chance of negotiation; even that brutal Captain had stopped for negotiation eventually. Granted, that one had been looking for answers to something. It was starting to look like those with no questions were the most dangerous from sheer commitment to their situation.

Quote:
Magic: When weight is applied to one side of the scale (most likely Glitnir pushing on it with his finger), all enemies within 8 feet feel their major sins come to the forefront of their minds. If the target doesn't consider themselves to have sinned, they just gain a strong feeling in their minds that they have done something wrong and be unable to identify what it is (they might as well have left the oven on before they left the house). The air seems to grow "heavy" to them, and a feeling of pressure slows them down. The time pool for this magic is 35 seconds.

Well she didn't know about stronger but they gained some interesting things.

The kick landed and she grinned as her feet came back under her. Turning to face him, she crossed her arms under her chest. His move.

And it came but pushing down on the scales he held. Under her hood, she raised a brow only to have it answered as her mind seemed to suddenly start thinking about the four wheeler back home. Had she brought it in? Did she remember to get gas for it?

Her mind began to fill with thoughts of her youngest brothers getting on it and not being able to use it. Her hand unfolded and came to her head. She felt like she was swimming in jello.

"Ugh...what...is this..." She moaned, trying to see through the thoughts.

It was curious that the Lieutenant had chosen to stop and wait for Glitnir's next move. It was a poor choice, and he could see that his magic was starting to take effect. He canceled channeling and dashed forward, swinging her scales towards her body for a body blow. He wasn't going to be a savage to her, no, but if he could rough her up enough for her to retreat, he'd consider the battle won.

The thoughts in her mind were too strong to shake. So badly did her mind wander that she was unable to focus on the movement around her. Stibnite would scold herself later for it but at the moment, all she could do was feel her body give way as the metal made contact.

Lurching sideways, Stibnite dropped to her knees. Normally a blow like that would not have shaken her but this time, with the haze in her mind, she was caught off balance.

That would not sit well with her.

Shaking her head hard, Stibnite brought herself out of enough of the haze to look back at the man that hit her. "You will...regret...that..." She forced out, trying to stand and refocus. It was starting to clear. Just a few more moments...

Glitnir paused, not really willing to dish out another possibly painful hit so quickly. It didn't seem that the Lieutenant was going to give up so easily, if her fighting words were any indication. "Will I?" he said, assuming a position he could easily move out of if she went for another attack. "I don't want to hurt you that much, but I think you need to learn a lesson. That lesson is: be careful around people who are even one rank more powerful than you." She probably wouldn't get it, or would resist it, but the caution was worth a try.

"You all really do talk too much." Stibnite managed out as she found her head clear. Rising to her feet, her hands reached out and she adjusted the hood of her uniform. "It would be so much easier if you just..."

She turned, lashing out at him with a move to the arm holding the scales attempting to disarm him. "fought back."

The move hit, but Glitnir was able to catch the chain of the scales before they completely slipped out of his hand. "My job isn't to make your job easy," he said. "I guess you've made your commitment." The lieutenant was clearly zealous in support of the Negaverse, and Glitnir figured that he wasn't exactly in the position to temper that zeal. Perhaps if they met another time and she didn't fly into attack mode straight away, he could tell her more. "But maybe you shouldn't always attack first. Some people have interesting things to say." Maybe he could at least plant the seed of a talking instinct in her before he made his escape. This battle wasn't going to go anywhere.

A fire escape made for a convenient target, and he jumped up onto it, hoping that he wouldn't be pursued.

"Very little of what you have to say interest me, knight." She smirked as he jumped towards the fire escape. He wouldn't fight. He would not be much of a challenge no matter what his powers were.

A coward.

"I have seen your kind kill as well. Do not act innocent to me." Her dark smile shifted into view but she let him go. He was magically stronger than her. Something she would have to correct.

Damn cross...
