S p l e n d e n t upon the sun-baked rock, worn smooth by the passing of countless paws and the funneled wind, Kurruvar called a gathering. Her loud calls pierced the late afternoon air with the sense of importance and all who dwelled in the thorny, dusty lands would recognise her tone for what it was and respond accordingly.

Something was going to happen.

Young, old, high ranking and low. In these times, everyone could come together and share in the excitement of what news they might hear. Could it be of one of their rival prides? Could it be word from Graos Oma? Could there be more parasite false gods close by that they could sink their teeth into and claim further glory? Whatever it was would spell a motion of some description, though just how big was yet to be seen.

Kurruvar, poised in place, watched as lions and hyenas filed into the clearing. Her gaze met each and every one, the look as penetrating as her calls. She was an odd nohoi; a devoted follower of Rapha who was rarely seen from the lioness' side these recent days.

(( Still waiting on Nergui certs! ))

Whenever something was afoot, Ovu was almost always one of the first to respond. The one time that he wasn't around when a major announcement was made, he had not only missed out on helping to kill a Goddess, he had also missed out on fighting the Firekin. That fight with the Firekin had resulted in the death of Muunokhoi, the Warlord with whom he loved to plot and scheme. Ever since then, Ovu hardly ever left the Nergui lands without good reason, meaning his depraved 'hobbies' had been put on hold. Needless to say, this had made him a lot more volatile.

Smirking as he walked towards the clearing, his bloodshot eyes darted around to see who else had bothered to turn up. At this point, Ovu had fully ingratiated himself with the Nergui, although not to the point where he was able to fully discredit the 'Grey Warrior' whom he hated so much. Zizima had been keeping somewhat of a low profile, but surely he would still show his face for this meeting? Only time would tell. Still smirking, the blood red lion moved to stand not far from where Kurruvar was still calling out for everyone to come.

Hiana's ears pricked as the sound of his fellow nohoi's calls reached him. He had just returned from the somewhat secret lair in which his Klipspringer ally Limuka lived. As a hyena, it made very little sense for him to have a prey beast for an ally, but he knew better. He just didn't think that anyone else in the Nergui would be capable of understanding the usefulness of a creature with weapons literally sticking out of its skull. So for now, Limuka had to remain hidden, until he was given the chance to prove himself. Perhaps this meeting would give him just that?

The dark hyena skulked between the various lions before settling a small distance from them. There wasn't as many nohoi as he would like, but at the same time, that could be a good thing. He had been deemed worthy to be here, and the Nergui possessed the power that Hiana so deeply craved. His pink eyes flashed darkly as he considered what the meeting could be about.

Gael came to the summons despite the fact that it was a hyena that sent it up. He was bored and more than eager to sink his claws and teeth into something to get rid of some of his energy. Perhaps a fight was afoot! He had missed out on the last glory hunt and he was rather sore for it, since it had gone so well and he had had nothing to do with it. Still, the pride needed some to stay behind to protect their youth and higher ups should someone have decided to attack.

Of course, no one had.

He entered the gathering space with a flick of his tail, looking this way and that to see who was gathered. He was one of the first to arrive, it would seem, which was all good in his book. There wasn't a chance he'd miss out on the action now!

User Image

Gael wasn't the only one to answer the summons. Krieg had heard the call and had come without hesitation as well. The young hyena surveyed those that were there and smirked just a bit. So far she was the only one that had been at the past glory hunt. She knew her father would be along shorty and they would share the honor, but she also knew that actions of the past weren't something to dwell on. That being said, she hoped this had something to do with the Firekin. She wanted to extract revenge on the lioness that had killed one of her brothers, although the likelihood of finding that particular lioness among the sea of black, red, and white would be quite the undertaking.

User Image

Los trotted onto the scene not long after his daughter, tongue lolling from his mouth. He licked his lips and looked around, pleased to see the number of hyenas outnumbered that of the lions. He himself was the sire of quite a number of the present Nohoi in the pride and he couldn't have been more pleased to see at least one of his offspring here at the meeting already. He walked up to Krieg and nudged her shoulder with his nose, giving her a lazy grin.

"Another grand adventure, hm?" he said, looking towards Kurruvar. She wasn't one for hanging around the other Nohoi, but she was still a hyena and one that was close to the leader of their pride, so she was to be treated with respect.

Saran sauntered into the clearing as well, although she remained off to the side pretending to be bored and just there because she happened to have wandered in this direction. She had no intention of going off hunting gods or Firekin, but she wanted to be up on the goings-on in the pride. She sat down and began to groom herself, rubbing her paw along her face and ears while her tail flicked back and forth slowly. As she did so her eyes traveled to the two other lions that had gathered. Her mother's words of finding a suitable mate were always close to her mind and considering the gathering that would most likely be showing up, she'd have a chance to scout out some potential mates.

Her eyes rested first on the pale male. He was very pretty to look at, but he didn't seem particularly strong. Not anything out of the ordinary at least. She turned her attention to the darker male, her eyes hesitating on him for a moment. He certainly cut an imposing figure...

Keto was also wondering about what the meeting detailed. There was only so many Nohoi from what he could see hence far, but this didn't seem to faze him very much. He wore a grin, but resisted to urge to laughed as his mind seemingly filled with memories of this mornings vision of someone's untimely death he had experienced.

He had better things to think about today. Such as the meeting in general. What was the news? Was it news of death?! Had Graos Oma given new orders? The brightly colored hyena sat down in anticipation.

Who else would show up? He wondered.

The dark patterned male padded silently into the gathering, the only announcement of his presence was the soft sound of his bells, for otherwise Kerberos moved entirely without sound, even seeming not to breathe. Certainly he was a strange creature, fairly new to the pride having joined after the last altercation between the Nergui and the red pelted enemy and as yet had barely spoken to another living soul, never saying more than a word or two at any one time.

Shadow-like he padded around the perimeter of the gathering to stand off to one side, half in the shade of an old blasted tree. There he stayed, near enough to be considered a participant, but otherwise seemingly inapproachable as his golden eyes slowly swept the area from behind red mask-like markings. Everything about him spurring any attempt at conversation.

Sarangerel was not too far behind the initial group that had arrived, moving with purposeful steps alongside her close companion, Zizima. To say that the pair had been spending a lot of time together the past few days would have been an understatement and the female was practically glowing with joy. Life was certainly taking a turn for the better and now with news on the horizon, it seemed things would be progressing again.

"It will be word from Graos Oma," she guessed, her words for Zizima's ears only. "It has been a long time in coming." Just what the word would be, however, she could not contemplate. Their distant leader was not a predictable one to say the least and there was no telling what guidance he would offer to them.

"I see Saran," she added, glancing across at her daughter with approval, "but where--ah." Across from them, entering from the other direction, was her youngest son, Nokhoi. His mane - that had been filling out nicely - was caught with thorns and twigs, his face set in a scowl that his lower jaw jutting in what could only be described as a childish pout.

The female sighed, shaking her head, before taking a seat and casting her gaze to Kurruvar.

Likewise, Nokhoi shook himself and lowered himself into a seating position, tail twitching across the dusty ground. His eyes seemed to be flicking from face to face, scrutinising.

---

Mchawi and Tomorbaatar were next, slinking in to hang back in the shadows. The Kaar Oma looked particularly grumpy that day, her face set with a deep scowl that seemed to be aggravating the steel-pelted male.

The shuko paced back and forth a few times, growling as if trying to decide on where to settle and eventually reclined with his back against a blasted tree stump. He was a male of average build but good at his job and more often out in the field than at the camp.

---

The siblings; Mawasii and Kafele, were accompanied by the skittish male, Tolui. The three had become rather good friends as time had passed, despite the difference of opinion about them by other pride members.

Mawasii was a big strong female, stubborn but kind and fierce when she needed to be. Her brother was a talented kaar, and though he was a huge, hulking male, was surprisingly gentle and kind for one who dwelled within the Nergui. Their reputations, on the whole, were good within the pride. The same could not be said for Tolui who had been a slave before conversion and labelled a coward. He held the rank of emkurcar, which was no thing to be proud of if you were male.

He kept close to the siblings, his ears twitching about his head nervously. He clearly felt out of place and he wasn't making his situation any better by being as twitch as he was.

"Calm, Tolui, it will be fine," Mawasii reassured him as best as she could, giving his shoulder a bump with hers.

---

Gren had been hovering just outside of the 'circle' for a while now, pale blue eyes fixed on the hyena up on the rock. Yet only now, as others seemed to be joining, did she seem to have the confidence to commit to being part of the group, stepping forwards and hunkering down over the uneven ground as if she expected to be pounced by some unseen foe.

Her tail flopped to the ground and did not rise again.

---

And, from her rock, Kurruvar gave a short burst of laughter and declared. "Xakaav Oma comes to address you herself."

Ovu watched intently as various lions and hyenas continued to arrive. Since when did this many mutts dwell within the Nergui? For a moment it looked as if they would outnumber the lions, but more soon arrived. He eyed each new arrival warily, his gaze eventually falling on a pale female. A daughter of the deceased Warlord and Sarangerel. The brutish male only had one use for females, but that didn't mean that they didn't have other uses. A somewhat sinister grin touched his face, although it didn't remain for long.

User Image

Zizima strode beside Sarangerel, his future wife. They had waited for her offspring to come of age, and now he was free to spend time with her, essentially laying claim to her and warning off any other males. So far, no one had been foolish enough to challenge him, but he was well aware that there could be some at the meeting who were interested. Whatever happened, the Grey Warrior would be ready.

When Sarangerel whispered to him, Zizima simple nodded. He felt somewhat indifferent towards the following of Graos Oma, preferring to listen to those who actually walked amongst them. He knew how dangerous that worship could be, which was just another reason that he needed to be around to protect Sarangerel.

When Sarangarel motioned towards her daughter, Zizima looked at her. She looked a lot like her mother. Her son, on the other hand, looked like just as big a waste of space as his father was. As he considered this, his eyes suddenly caught sight of the bloody mess that was Ovu. He frowned deeply at him, before turning back to Sarangerel. "Stay close to me."

When Kurruvar spoke of the Xakaav Oma, Zizima's expression changed very little. He was more interested in looking out for Sarangerel.

Ovu had already spotted Zizima as he arrived, causing the grin that had been on his face to turn into a twisted snarl. When did he lay claim to Sarangerel? It must've been a recent thing, otherwise he would've known about it. The freakishly large male seethed with anger, before quickly gaining control of his emotions. He needed a new plan to get rid of Zizima, so the last thing he wanted to do was to raise suspicion. Still, that didn't mean that he couldn't have a little fun.

Bold as brass, Ovu walked over to the pale female he knew to be Sarangerel's daughter. He smirked at her, his bloodshot eyes dancing darkly over her form. "I saw you looking." He mused, his tone of voice smooth yet sinister. If he couldn't get rid of Zizima, he could at least wind him up by spending time with his new mate's offspring.

Unfortunately for him, at that point the black hyena who had beckoned them all spoke up again, this time to reveal that the Xakaav Oma herself would be gracing them with her presence. His fun would have to wait.

Hiana was surprised and somewhat proud at the turn out of fellow hyenas, although at the same time, he frustrated him that this would mean he didn't stand out as much. As useful as hyenas were to the Nergui, he wanted to be the one who was deemed the most resourceful, the most cunning. The one that each and every Braak would want at their side. The black and grey hyena had yet to be given the chance to prove himself, the same as his associate Limuka. When the time came though, he knew that both of them would come out on top.

He measured up each hyena carefully. He was of average size for a hyena, as well as average build. One hyena in particular stood out, with his scarred face and ripped ear. Hiana snorted distastefully. He may not have the brawn, but he knew he had the brains to be the top hyena. Or perhaps second top, for now, as Kurruvar made her important announcement. Things were going to get interesting.

User ImageRaubtier had heard Kurruvar's call and gathered with the others. He pushed through the crowd, moving to stand near his father and sister. It felt better to stand among his fellow Nohoi even if all the Nergui was technically his pack. He was eager to learn what the meeting was all about, but he didn't say a word. The crowd thickened as more and more members joined. When Kurruvar announced that Xakaav Oma would come and speak to them he uttered a star-struck "Ohh!"

It would truly be an honor! He was still curious about what they'd get to hear, but just the fact that she would speak was cool in itself.

Gael observed the others as they started to fill the space and his ears perked up when he noticed Gren. They had parted on a sour note the last time they had spoken, but Gael still couldn't figure out what it was that had made her leave. Now certainly wasn't the time to go over to try to chat her up. Instead he lifted his head a bit higher and focused on the hyena before them, trying to look regal and impressive. This was how he could show Gren he wasn't strange or weak.

When the news that the Xakaav Oma would come speak to them a bit of the act fell away, his tail twitching and eyes widening. He'd never seen the Xakaav Oma before so this would surely be important.

"One can only hope, father," Krieg said in return to Los, giving her grinning father a little smile of her own. They had played an important part in bringing down the goddess, although she'd always consider herself more of a player than her father in that particular hunt. She had gone ahead with Gren to speak to the goddess and distract her while the rest of the pride had moved in, and she had also dealt an important blow when the goddess had tried to escape. She had gotten accolades and praise from her fellow Nergui for the act, and she didn't want that to stop. Anything she could do to prove herself, she'd do it.

The mention of the Xakaav Oma caught her attention once again, and she turned from Los to look at Kurruvar.

Los laughed the typical hyena laugh at his daughter's reply and turned to find one of his sons at his other side. His tail gave a little wag and he leaned over to nudge Raubtier's shoulder as he had Krieg's, greeting him just as Kurruvar spoke up.

"The Xakaav Oma?" he said, lifting his head with a grin. "Oh, this is special. You two had better be on your best behavior. Don't make your father look badly...I raised you right, didn't I?" He was only half teasing, knowing full well that his children were adults. Anything they did would reflect on them and not on him.

Saran turned her gaze to the males as they approached, finding flaws in them all. Ah, this was going to be harder than she thought. She knew looks weren't what she should go by, but she couldn't help making biased opinions of those that kept themselves like her brother did - not caring for ones appearance meant that there was little care in other things they did.

She was a bit surprised when the large, intimidatingly colored male came over to her, but she didn't let it show. Instead she put on a bored expression and looked at him with a raised brow.

"Oh?" she asked, giving him a raking once-over to let him know that she wasn't afraid to have been caught looking. "Would you like a song written to your exceptional visual skills?" She finally made eye contact with Ovu, arching her brow a bit more and smirking slightly. She wasn't one to be intimidated by males and her mother had taught her well in terms of how to play the game. She wanted a mate with power and a weak mind for females, and while Ovu certainly was powerful - at least physically - she wasn't so sure he'd be willing to bend for her. That would rule him out of her plans immediately.

The hyena spoke, announcing the Xakaav Oma would come to speak to them, and she gave a little huff. It seemed her talking would have to wait.

Xakaav Oma was coming? Keto lifted his head to stare at Kurruvar in delight. Most excellent. He had never seen the Xakaav Oma before. This event would clearly hold great meaning. Something important was afoot, he could smell it.

Keto giggled to himself as he remembered a wicked dream that he thought to be funny at the time. He was all over the place with his thoughts, but mainly he was giggling in joy at the Xakaav Oma coming. By chance he lifted his head to scan the crowd, to see their reacts. His eyes settled on Gael. The white lion he had met before. Maybe he'd shuffle over and bother him for a bit...

Sarangerel nodded, side-stepping closer to Zizima and casting a daring glance towards anyone that might move to separate them. So focused on staying close to him, she did not notice Ovu moving towards her daughter. If she had, however, she likely wouldn't have been too concerned. Saran had a good head on her shoulders and one (grown) child that didn't need to be worried about.

Nokhoi, however, was another matter.

The male lion was staring at Zizima, his face less pouty and more surprised. He had likely been too thick-headed and preoccupied to notice the closeness between the Grey Warrior and his mother, though their interaction now seemed blatantly clear. The young male stood, took a step towards them and then just as quickly, decided against it.

With an audible huff, he seated himself again, turning his head to look up at Kurruvar.

---

At hearing the news that Rapha Oma would be coming, Gren visibly tensed, shifting her weight from paw to paw. Her face was cast with a deep frown, her worrying jaw not quite falling still as she waited. She was torn between a feeling of joy and terror, knowing that her time in limbo may be coming to an end...

Surely her position here would have to be addressed.

---

Kurruvar, with a white-toothed smile, finally gave a bark of warning and, sidling along the rock she was perched upon, leapt down to the dusty ground, turning on a paw to look up with the rest of the horde. There was a long moment of silence and then - at last - the sound of rough paws padding on stone.

Rapha Oma, the resident Xakaav Oma took her place upon the stone dais, flanked by two eerily quiet ravens that took perch at either side of her.

User Image

Smoky grey fur - an almost exact likeness of the expanse of sky above her - she was adorned in the traditional garb of the Nergui; in fur and bones and feathers of past kills and glory.

For a moment she surveyed the gathered lions and hyenas, touching her gaze upon all of them in turn. That gaze settled, finally, upon Mchawi - who straightened and blinked her eyes in response.

"For some time now, our Graos Oma has lain quiet, no word of guidance upon the wind," she began suddenly, her voice clear and strong above the pull of the breeze that rattled through the branches of the twisted trees around them. "The time of silence is, at last, at an end. Graos Oma has spoken and our path is set. You all remember the glory of the last hunt and the blood that was spilled. Our work has pleased Graos Oma greatly and it has been agreed that we are ready to embark on the next phase," she paused, casting her gaze out across the barren landscape. "The kaar have used our new guidance and - with the help of our shuko have located our next target."

Her gaze was drawn back to the clearing again. "But this target is not a single foe. Instead, it is a land rich with rarec, an abandoned home of the kulukadok and a source of great power for Tra Ord Omak. The journey will be long and treacherous but I have no doubt that we are capable of accomplishing this -- just as we always have."

"For Blood and Glory."

Kurruvar gave an excited bark and returned: "for Blood and Glory!"

"Direct any questions you may have towards Mchawi Oma," Rapha added, seating herself on the smooth stone.

User Image They were a bit late to the party... Just a bit. Ngoma's large frame dominated the tiny group of three approaching the gathering, towering in his Firekin-blooded might over his mate and the spotted lioness they'd begun to consider like a friend. He'd been disappointed to miss the god hunt, some months before. A part of him felt that, if he'd gone, he would have stopped Muunokhoi's death. Of course, that would leave many questions if he'd seen anybody he knew at the incident... He looked up as Xakaav Oma stepped up to speak, ears on her. An abandoned place? Hmmm, this was a curiousity to him... He looked over to Ramla, one red eyebrow up. "I wonder where this place is..."

User Image Rust ears twitched a bit, listening to the cloud-grey lioness. The corner of her mouth twitched, before she smiled just a bit. "I can think of at least one abandoned place... Perhaps we will see the temples again, where gods once lounged amid mortals..." She paused, noticing the look she was getting from the lioness to her side. "I didn't say they were REAL gods... Though I still sometimes wonder about the whole... Wing thing..." Flying lions... It was a peculiarity to her. She'd simply accepted it as a part of life as a cub, growing up around gods. She felt like one of the lions most at-ease with the hybrids and other non-lions in the pride, having grown up around a diversity. Ngoma had subscribed easiest to disliking them, having spent HIS cubhood in a pride with only lions.

User Image Nuria gave a scoff. "Gods... False creatures... They meddle in the lives of mortals, and trap them in places to never leave!" She stalked away. "Laying 'curses' on prides and scaring them just because they can cast the illusion of being bigger, and wings..." She rarely, if ever, hinted at her histroy before the Hoard, where she came from, what she'd grown up around. Perhaps one day she'd bring the Hoard to her birth pride... Maybe. Who knew. For now, she had questions.

She went up to Mchawi Oma, giving her a bow of her head. "Mchawi Oma, I am curious... Where is this land we are heading to? Is it presently known as anything by... Others?"

Ovu chuckled at the pale female's response. Most were intimidated by his appearance, but apparently this particular female wasn't. Either that, or she was exceptionally good at hiding it. That was something he would have to find out after this meeting.

When Rapha Oma presented herself to the group, the blood red male gave her his full attention. Whatever she commanded, the Nergui obeyed. Hopefully she would ask for blood. At the mention of the last hunt, Ovu couldn't help but frown. Oh how he wished he could've been there. As she went on though, the smile soon returned to his face. The place she spoke of intrigued him, especially when she stated that it was 'treacherous'.

"FOR BLOOD AND GLORY!" He roared, already riled up in anticipation.

Once again, Zizima's expression changed very little at the arrival of the Xakaav Oma. He had had a bit of a run in with her when they first met, due to him apparently not showing her enough respect. Not that he cared. Mchawi was the lioness who he saw around the Pride more often than not, and even now, she was the one who was appointed to answer any questions.

A thoughtful expression touched his face as he considered all that had been said. Could they be planning to take on another Pride in order to take their land? Or was there yet more Gods to slay? Whatever it was, it sounded major. It also involved travel, and so he wondered if the whole Pride was moving, or if it would only be a select number.

"What do you think Sarangerel?" He turned to his future wife, interested to get her insight on all that they had heard. He would question Mchawi later, once others had already got their questions in.

Hiana wasn't a hyena who was easily impressed, but the Xakaav Oma had such a presence to her, it was hard not to be a little in awe. To wield such power as to render everyone who listened silent, and to send them into the unknown with such few words, it was the stuff of dreams as far as the dark hyena was concerned. If his dreams were to become reality, he would have to make sure that he was right at the centre of whatever ended up going on.

When Rapha stated to direct any questions to Mchawi, he quickly moved towards the brown-grey female. Not to ask her any questions himself, but to listen in on whatever else was said. He would volunteer himself to go if that was what was needed as well. If there was only a limited number of places for this journey, he wanted one of them.

PostPosted: Tue Mar 10, 2015 1:36 pm
The head seer's face was dark as she moved to accept questions, doing nothing but bobbing her head in thanks to the Xakaav Oma. She enjoyed moments like this where her high rank granted her special access to information that went unknown by the rest. Finding the Nergui and being accepted into its ranks had been a stroke of luck.

No sooner had she seated herself a little closer had the dark female, Nuri, approached to ask a question. A good question, too, and one that she could answer.

"Before the occupants scattered, it is believed that this land was home to a pride who called themselves Dawnwalkers. Reports have told of strange structures upon this hostile land, unnatural things that could house much that could grant power to Tra Ord Omak."

---

Sarangerel nodded thoughtfully, leaning against Zizima as if drawing comfort inspiration from his close proximity. "I think many will be expected to go to this place. It sounds very important. But for all of us to go? To leave the stronghold we have nestled here?" She shook her head, "perhaps it is for the best. We can make no more progress with the red ones in the desert, not as we are."

---

Nokhoi, across the way, pressed eagerly forwards, his body language dominant and excited at the prospect of an adventure that could rival that of his father's.

"I will not be left here. I intend to venture out, no matter how far the land is or how dangerous. There will be songs about this."

Gael's heart began to pound in excitement as the new mission was given. There was another land to go to and he was sure to be among their ranks this time. He joined in the cry with an eager snarl and glanced over in Gren's direction. He was a bit surprised to see her looking rather grim. His own excitement was tampered a bit as he was torn with what to feel. A mission he could help with that, for some reason, seemed to make the large female unhappy. He hesitated before deciding to go over to her.

"This is exciting, isn't it?" he asked as he approached, a little grin on his face. Hopefully she'd forget about her running off the last time they'd spoken.

"You did," Krieg said with a little grin before falling silent. She listened to the mission and smirked slightly as everyone began to cheer and roar and yip. She remained silent, letting her desire to prove herself again grow. She had done well on the first mission, but she wanted her reputation to build within the pride. She wanted lions and hyenas alike to look upon her as they did some of the higher ups - with awe and respect. War songs were well and good, but the pride of knowing she was feared and important now was what drove her on.

Los joined in with the majority of the group, adding his cackle to the mix. For blood and glory indeed! He lived for fighting and the Nergui, and any chance to help strengthen their numbers or power was one he'd always grab. His tail wagged behind him as he bared his teeth in a wide grin. More gods....wonderful. Their last hunt had gone very well and this time they wouldn't need to go near the Firekin. They could get in and out and not have to worry about losing more of their fighters.

Saran turned her attention to Rapha Oma as she spoke, her ears twitching with interest. Another location for rarec, which was what the young female was particularly focused on. She wondered if it were possible for someone to bring her back a little trinket from a god or goddess for her to wear. She didn't go out to fight - that was for the more rough and tumble of the lions - but perhaps she could talk a male into snagging a bead or bone for her. It would be a good test to see if they were strong enough to survive but dumb enough to do as she said.

As Ova joined in the cry beside her she smirked just a bit. He did seem to be full of vim and vigor.
