"I'm... Not entirely sure," she admitted as she continued working to gather items into piles. Figuring out how to deal with them until she got a new bag would be a pain, but that was one headache that could wait. At the moment, she had a slightly larger one to deal with, what with all the psychic pokemon the burnt incense had attracted. They might not have been tough as individuals, but there were a lot of them and that meant lots of little paws, jaws, beaks, and everything else trying to grab fallen items infused with the scent of the smoke. The sudden pop of a pokeball opening caught Sable's attention, so she turned to look for the source. From what she could see, Darren had let out one of the pokemon he had with him and was asking the little creature, an affectionate eevee, for help. Sable could barely suppress a giggle as the cream-colored bundle of fluff fetched her one of her scattered potions. "Thanks~ Every little bit helps," she told the eevee as she crouched down and gently took the potion from the pokemon's mouth, scratching the little lady behind the ears briefly before getting back to work. Darren sent out another pokemon, so Sable decided she aught to start sending out a few of the ones she carried, too. Figuring any ball was as good as any other, Sable picked one off her belt at random, and the first pokemon she let out turned out to be a growlithe. "Hey-" she started to say, but the fire type rushed off without a second glance at the teen. Instead, he seemed to be far more interested in attacking a slowpoke that was investigating a spare boot of Sable's. The pup had taken a hit from a water gun, but it didn't take long for the growlithe to gain victory and his prize. "Aggressive little guy, aren't you?" Sable asked as she watched the growlithe vigorously chew on the boot it retrieved. She most she got for a reply was the fluffy canine fiercely shaking his head with the boot still in his teeth, possibly trying to tear off a piece. "I'll take that as a yes, but I'll still need to use a potion on you." As Sable cautiously crouched down, bottle in hand, she could hear the growlithe growl at her. "I'm sure you're not exactly trusting of me, but it's better than staying hurt," she told the fire type as she inched closer. The canine still growled at her, but allowed the teen to apply the healing spray. Once the potion finished its work, though, the pup was done with Sable and tried to snap at her hand as she pulled it back. Frowning, Sable decided to let the growlithe be for the moment and focused instead on catching the fallen slowpoke. "Might as well," she muttered as the ball hit the unconscious pokemon, sucking it inside and clicking shut after it did so. She then heard Darren giving commands to a pokemon of his own, so turned to look. As soon as she noticed that there were poison types coming to investigate as well, Sable felt her expression turn into a grimace. "Oh great... More trouble..." the teen groaned. {{OOC: Due to limitations of the character image maker I'm using, the image is not entirely accurate. 	Aʀᴇᴢᴜ L. K ᴀ ᴛ ᴢ tttcciiicccc Arezu leaned back into Tanjoubi's tassels, which formed a protective cocoon. They slid closed after Hakuren jumped in, creating a warm pocket of dark for them to rest in as he flew. When they were higher Arezu released Kouvu to patrol around them with an eye out for danger. It was mostly to give him time to use some of his pent up energy. He had mellowed out considerably since she caught him, but he still scared her at times. She had only caught him to save herself, but now she had an small idea of why she had chosen to keep him with her. She had sensed that he needed a home, and decided to take him in despite her fear. She and Suicune weren't that unlike each other after all. Had she known the truth of the matter, she might of simply run away. Instead, she had inadvertently amused, pissed off, and intrigued those that had sent him after her. She had tamed one of her worst fears instead of being pushed to the edge by it. Though she had fallen off a building so it wasn't exactly easy going. Kouvu himself was only slowly becoming aware of who he was. He knew he liked the feel of the wind in his fur and the sweet pulling of his muscles in flight. He knew he liked those big yellow fruits Arezu sometimes gave him, and it felt good when she scratched that one spot on his collar. He may still be mostly feral, but a free bird and a caged beast are two different creatures entirely. They touched down on the outskirts of Vermillion City without incident. Arezu had already recalled Kouvu, and returned Tanjoubi to his ball as well. She and Hakuren first visited the local stores, buying a new set of clothes and a small amount of emergency supplies. Afterwards Arezu returned him to his pokeball so she and Sham could be alone once she released him. 	Vigilia hit me up gril Aʀᴇᴢᴜ L. K ᴀ ᴛ ᴢ tttcciiicccc Arezu moved through the city with new eyes. She felt like she finally understood a little of why she had never felt at complete comfort in them. Her insides were instinctively nearly as skittish as Sham was on the outside, though she had learned over the past year how to relax. "It's fine, Sham. A bit crowded, but there's usually really good food." She had noticed his nose twitching, and hoped he would move past thinking the place stank of humans to thinking it smelled different and interesting. The sea breeze helped. But Arezu understood. And Sham could sense that she felt the same way in the controlled way she moved through the city. He was surprised, and wondered at how she could stand it. His pride bid him to not let it bother him, to actually enjoy it, because otherwise she'd be better than him. I wish I could actually talk to her, he thought, stunning even himself with the foreign wish. "Alright Sham, this is it. You probably can't battle the whole gym by yourself-" Arezu glanced down at him, intending to say he could just fight the first pokemon. When she locked eyes with the pup she immediately switched tactics. "-so I'll be backing you up." He looked at her skeptically. 	Aʀᴇᴢᴜ L. K ᴀ ᴛ ᴢ tttcciiiiicc Sham eyed his opponent warily. He was cautious of electric types, they were super-effective against Suicune... even if not very effective against himself. I'll run up and bite him, he thought, muscles tensing to spring into a dash. "Sham, keep your distance and use dragonbreath!" Arezu's voice almost knocked Sham over as he shifted momentum. What! Why? Sham growled, whipping his head around to glare at her. Her eyes glared right back, and he was suddenly aware of the fact that all those other pokemon that traveled with her, even Shiisa, who all seemed so strong and out of reach...she'd trained them, hadn't see. With effort he heaved himself back towards his opponent and opened his mouth, firing blue dragonflames out. They licked in a wide arc, catching the pikachu despite its efforts to dodge using double-team. Then Sham's blue flames were clashing with a fierce thunderbolt attack, the stray arcs of electricity sparking off into the ground, barely raising Sham's fur while the pikachu suffered from the flames. By the end of it Sham felt a deep ache in his muscles, and in places his scales felt battered into the skin and throbbed in time with his heavy breaths. But he was satisfied, and felt like he'd taken a first step towards...something. He actually didn't notice he was evolving at first, the warm glow of pride giving way to a bright white light. But when he was over, he twirled in a circle, eyes bright with excitement. His legs felt slender and powerful, and he tossed his head to feel his whiskers dance through the air. His ears turned at the sound of Arezu laughing. "Oh no, don't let me interrupt you," she grinned, "If you'd like I could fetch you a mirror." She came side-to-side with him as she stepped forward to collect her badge. Sham found he rather liked his new height; she seemed so much less intimidating now. Had she really seemed so big? He was looking at her with mild curiosity when she turned her eyes towards the thick fur on his back. He watched as she reached out and ran her hand along his back. When she slid her palm under his fur he felt her skin, warm against his scales. Arezu withdrew her hand and slid it into her pocket. "So. Let's talk about Flurry..." she said, turning to leave with Sham at her side. Sham shook his head, caught between amusement and frustration. "But it's so confusing!" Arezu threw her hands up. "Seriously, he was literally a 'Flurry', that can't just be his name! It'd be like calling you-" Arezu paused, not sure what Sham was anymore. She hadn't checked his species name yet with her pokedex. "Like calling you Lou, or something," she finished lamely. She should let Hakuren out. He'd be able to make this argument much better. But when she released him he just shrugged. "I don't know what to tell you, Zuu. Don't mess with a name." But she wasn't ready to drop it. "Okay, what if I'd named you Zorua then, huh? Would you be okay with that?" Hakuren shrugged. "But you didn't, so that's not my name, so it's not the same." He was maddeningly matter-of-fact about it. "We call Suicune Suicune, don't we?" Arezu sputtered, because that was different, damn it. *"I can't- I can't just give Suicune* a name!" 	Aʀᴇᴢᴜ L. K ᴀ ᴛ ᴢ tttcciiiiicc Arezu walked with one hand on Sham's back, enjoying his fur. Fluffy like Shiisa, but the coolness from the scales made it pleasant. "So. Flurry." She watched Sham's ears quirk at the name. "You noticed the way he's been acting too, right?" One of Sham's whiskers whacked her in the face. She took her hand away as he nodded. "I figured first things first, get you evolved so you aren't trying to talk sense into him as a puppy." Sham snorted. "Lou nnn." [Oh shut up.] Though he'd experienced the very thing she was talking about at the lake. He eyed Hakuren, but the zorua disguised as a human girl shrugged. He wasn't about to get in on this by offering to translate if Arezu wasn't asking. "Right, you do look less like a loser now." She grinned, hopping to the side to avoid the snap of Sham's teeth. "Anyways, do you think tough love or heart to heart is the way to go?" Sham looked at her quizzically, not really sure. He stared at the ground for a few moments. For some reason, Arezu sense that if Sham could shrug he would've. Maybe the way his whiskers moved gave off the impression. "I think that overly-confident furball could use a good butt-kicking," Hakuren piped in. Arezu snorted, apparently he didn't see the irony. "You think?" She looked to Sham, who kicked his head up in apparent agreement. [ He needs to remember why he fights in the first place. All that frou frou about ghosts and spirits. ] Arezu looked to Hakuren for translation. "He agrees," he stated, which earned him an eyeroll. The others can't be much worse than this growlithe, the teen thought as she unclipped a ball from her belt. With the press of a button the ball popped open, letting loose a flash of light. The light took on a solid form, resulting in a red-furred fox with multiple tails curled up on the ground. The vulpix had apparently been sleeping, but slowly lifted her head to gaze around with tired eyes. "Well, hello there~" Sable greeted, hoping this vulpix would be less tempermental than the last pokemon she let out. "Sorry to disturb your nap, but there's been a bit of a problem and I could use some help." The teen gave an awkward chuckle and a small smile. "Think you'd be willing to lend a paw?" While the teen was talking, the vulpix looked around at the "problem" she had been referring to. Eventually, the fox pokemon's tired gaze settled on the trainer and remained there for some time, staring at the woman for an uncomfortable length of time. Finally, the fire type broke eye contact, shutting her eyes tight as she let out a silent yawn with her mouth open wide. Once the yawn ended, the fox pokemon huffed before slowly getting to her feet. After looking around again, the vulpix decided that the drowzee poking through some of the singed berries was a good enough opponent. "Vol! Vulpix vol!" the fire pokemon barked, both to get the psychic type's attention and to chase some of the clouds out of the sky, brightening and heating up the area. The drowzee tried to wave off the vulpix with a bit of confusion, but the fox stood her ground and scorched the strange pokemon with a well-placed ember. Before the drowzee could react again, the lazy vulpix proved to be frighteningly quick when she wished it, closing the distance and colliding with the psychic pokemon in the blink of an eye with a quick attack. The fight over, Sable let out a low whistle and a small chuckle. "Thanks, little lady," she said as she tossed a ball at the downed drowzee, capturing it can keeping it from becoming a problem again. The teen still wasn't quite sure what she'd do with all the psychic pokemon that would likely be registered to her once this was over, but she knew Jin had been right about not leaving them lying about. Ethics aside, no telling how long any given pokemon would remain unconscious before waking back up and causing more trouble. Speaking of ethics, Sable picked up another of the potions that had been gathered up before crouching down. "Why don't you come over here and I'll help patch that up?" she offered, to which the vulpix padded over and let the teen spray the potion onto where the blast of psychic energy had struck her. {{OOC: Due to limitations of the character image maker I'm using, the image is not entirely accurate. Darren cautioned as the fire type tried to snap at her. He felt uneasy with how aggressive the growlithe was. "That's really odd. Growlithe are naturally very friendly and loyal creatures. Sure, they get a bit territorial but.... Not usually over personal space or an object." Darren frowned. Hee had bigger problems, however, as his poison incense was "accidentally" lit, attracting even more pokemon to the scene. Poison types, no less. He felt bad for doing this behind Sable's back and intentionally adding to the chaos, but he had little choice. "S-sorry!!!" Darren smiled sheepishly, holding his hands up in defense. He would take care of it though, as he promised. Still with Sable's growlithe busy chewing the boot, thee desert trainer smartly decided to try another pokemon, a vulpix who appeared to have been sleeping and really not pleased at all with being woken up, but at least she was more cooperative. In the meantime, Darren's interest honed in on a bulbasaur that had come to investigate the scene. "Oh! Excellent." Darren smiled, looking to Piper. "Would you be a dear and battle that bulbasaur for me?" Darren asked. "Pinch!" Piper pipped up in agreement, waddling over as Darren scanned the bulbasaur. Bulbasaur, the Seed Pokémon. It bears the seed of a plant on its back from birth. The seed slowly develops. Researchers are unsure whether to classify Bulbasaur as a plant or animal. Bulbasaur are extremely calm and very difficult to capture in the wild. Well, Darren would take that last bit as a challenge. "Alright Piper! Use bite!" Darren commanded, and the sand pit pokemon scuttled over energetically to clamp down on the bulbasaur. "Bulba?!" The plant pokemon was so stunned that it flinched, giving Piper an opening to deal the final blow, allowing Darren to capture it. With no attention on her, the vulpix was keen to go back to her nap. Just as she tried to drift off, though, she kept feeling something bump into her at various points on her body. Cracking open one eye, the lazy fox turned her head slightly to see that the individual eggs of an exeggcute were the culprits. Some of them were ramming themselves into her side while others were jumping on her back. One, two, three seconds passed before the vulpix was fed up and roasted the lot of them with a single ember. Satisfied, the fire fox lowered her head once more, ignoring the partially cooked eggs. Sable couldn't help but feel amused as she tossed a pokeball at the unconscious exeggcute. Whether it was from how determined the vulpix was to continue its nap or Darren's eevee trying to share some of Sable's potions with its new trainer, the desert trainer couldn't be sure. Probably both. "Heh, it's fine. Using them up just means I have less to shove in my bag." The teen glanced over at the piles of stuff as well as what was still scattered. "...Arceus knows how it all got in the first time..." the teen mused as she went back to gathering stuff up. Even though most of it was fairly small, being pokeballs, berries, and other items that could be held in one hand, there were a handful of bulkier items, as well as whatever spare clothing had survived the flames that started this mess.
