Surge had to admit, at least internally, that he was a little disappointed when the Dratini overcame it's Paralysis to land the Dragon tail and then shed it's skin immediately afterwards to cure itself of the status effect. It essentially equivocated a wasted move on his part, but at the same time, it really showed how prepared Jimmy was, and Surge respected that. "Tough and spirited, I'll give it that, but I won't allow my team to be disgraced by being taken out all by one pokemon. Isn't that right Raichu?" Surge sent out his third pokemon, the one he had been saving for a while. Raichu was his favorite after all, not as durable as Voltob, but still plenty powerful. "Rai rai!!" It cried with a determined look in it's eye. "Quick Attack!" Surge commanded, allowing the Raichu to move first. Perhaps Pikachu had had good instincts about attacking first out of the pokeball, and Surge trusted his pokemon's instincts as much as his own, so he was willing to give this method a shot.

from here on out ill be using twister until dratini faints, so ill let you decide if you want to quick attack back and forth or risk being flinched.
'Its fast' jimmy thought as he saw it move for a quick attack. But now that surje had revealed his ace in the hole, the battle was soon to come to an end.
"Twister, your doing great, just hang in there and wear it down and the match is ours" he shouted in confidence to his dratini as it was hit by the evolved pokemon. "Show him what your made of!" He shouted.
Dratini was running out of energy, and even though a dragon tail might have been the strongest move to use, he knew jimmy needed raichu to stay on the field for the win. The tired dratini forced itself to move and launched not one, but two twisters at the opponents raichu.

It seemed this was what Jimmy had been waiting for, commanding his Dratini to hang tight, boldly stating that if they could wear Raichu down the match was his. "Haha! That confident are you? We'll see about that!" Surge was getting excited to see just what exactly Jimmy had in mind as his "ace", though for now he had to duke it out with this dragon. The Dratini and Raichu exchanges hits, blow for blow, twister for quick attack until finally, the Dratini went down, but Raichu was looking pretty tired too, so it seemed the dragon type had done it's job. "Alright James, what's next?" Surge inquired, honestly interested in what he planned to use to win their battle.

"Return!" Jimmy shouted, pokeball in hand, bringing back its falling dratini after being hit by a final quick attack. "you did great, thanks to you, we have this in the bag."he whispered to the pokeball before returning it to his belt.
"you see Mr.Surge." jimmy began as he reached for the pokeball on his necklace. "your pokemon cant perform electric attacks when they're tired." Jimmy noted, throwing his pokeball into the air, calling out his best friend, Nala, the Charizard. "I needed that insurance to make sure Nala could show you her full potential. I learned from Brock that Type Advantages Could be devastating, no matter how strong your pokemon is." he concluded.
The Mega Stone Nala was holding began to glow brighter, soon engulfing the charizard completely in light before it revealed its true form. Mega Charizard-Y.
"Your pokemon are fast on their feet, but they cant generate an electric attack faster than my Charizard!" He shouted in confidence. "Use Solar Beam!" With that command, Charizard moved its wings to provide a sort of shield, while it quickly charged the solar beam in its mouth. After a matter of seconds, Charizard launched itself into the air, and fired down at the tired Raichu, with a demolishing Solar Beam.

Leader Lt. Surge
Surge and Raichu waited anxiously for Jimmy's supposed Ace in the Hole as he explained his thought process; that Surge's pokemon couldn't perform electric attacks if they were tired. It made some sense, he supposed, but... "What are you getting at...?" Surge inquired with a light frown, but then Jimmy let out a Charizard, and not just any Charizard, one that was holding a megastone to boot. It evolved before his eyes as Jimmy continued, explaining the lesson Brock had taught him, and a very solid piece of advice at that. Not surprising coming from Brock, that boy was wise beyond his years.
Jimmy had a point though, Surge didn't have any quicker electric attacks, so he was outclassed when it came to speed. All the power in the world didn't mean a thing if you weren't fast enough to land a hit. With that little monologue over, Jimmy commanded his Charizard to use Solar Beam, and Surge grit his teeth. "Quick Attack!" He rebutted, hoping Raichu could move fast enough to dodge the beam of light that would be much faster and more powerful now with the drought ability kicking in. Raichu collided with the dragon, and a bright beam of solar energy came crashing down on them, bright enough that even with his sunglasses Surge had to raise his arms and shield his eyes, and when the light died down, only then did he hazard a glance.
Raichu was down, it was a total KO. At least they had made an effort to get in that quick attack. "Your Charizard is strong kid, I'll give it that, but we aren't done yet, and I sure as hell don't go down without a fight!" He grinned, in spite of having to return his favorite pokemon to it's pokeball. "Well done soldier, you deserve a good long rest." Next up to the plate, Surge tapped Pikachu's pokeball and sent the other electric mouse out. It was probably futile, but Surge wasn't the kind of guy to give up, even in a losing battle. "Quick attack Pikachu! Surge commanded, and with cheeks sparking, Pikachu ran for the dragon fearlessly, and slammed into her belly.

Jimmy smiled. He planned for the Gym Leader to quit the match after seeing charizard, but his passion drove him to want to see this battle to the end. Truly admirable. His Raichu and Pikachu were both fast enough to land Quick Attacks on Charizard, but they each took a toll against Dratini, and Charizard was completely energetic. she brushed off that last quick attack and Launched another solar beam at Pikachu, causing it to faint as well.
Lt.Surge wasn't going to go down without a fight, he made that very clear and called out his final Pokémon of the battle, Voltorb. Both he and Jimmy called for an attack, which ended in a dramatic explosion. But when the Dust cleared, Charizard stood the victor.

Surge gave a bit of a grunt and a sigh as Voltorb and Pikachu were taken down just as quickly and easily as his Raichu. "Gah.... I guess you had a point kid. It was all over the moment you wore my Raichu down, but damn! That was a great battle. I owe you a real one someday, with my rematch team. You better come, I'll be more prepared then." Surge grinned, strutting up to Jimmy confidently even though he had completely and utterly lost. "Here, take these, you've earned em!" He nodded. "That's the Thunder Badge, it proves you've beaten me, and the HM Fly too, so you can get anywhere you need to go just as quick as lightning! Haha!" He couldn't help but beam at his little electric joke. "And this... well this is a gift from me." He held up another golden disk. "It's the technical machine for Thunderbolt, a move I would've liked to have been able to use on that Charizard of yours, but it seems Brock's advice prevented me from doing that. I'll have to give that boy a talking to, he's ruining my chances of winning haha!" He was joking of course. It was a gym leader's job to pass on good advice to up and coming trainers. "But seriously kid, I've got a bit of advice to you too. You can't just rely on one "ace" pokemon. That Charizard of yours? Hella strong, sure, I'll concede to that. You kicked my rear and I'm not complaining, but a pokemon's strength comes from the team effort. Pokemon on a team working together. You showed some of that with your brave little dratini, but you had a whole four other pokemon on your belt you coulda used. Give them a chance to see the light too, even if it doesn't guarantee a quick win like your Charizard over there." Surge nodded. "Now, I may be completely off my mark and who knows maybe your Charizard is actually one of your less trained pokemon and I'm just shootin' the breeze here but she seems like your favorite, so if we were playing cards, my money's on the fact that your Charizard is your ace. Just some food for thought alright champ? Now go on and get outta here, I gotta fix this electric fence." He grinned and gave Jimmy a good, playful shove, and chuckled, turning on a heel and heading back inside the room.

During his little trip to the pokemon center, he managed the time to send some of his pokemon to the daycare, and also deposited a pokemon to open doors for more opportunity.
He found some tall grass and decided to call out his ditto. In his sights, was a small Ekans, preying on a baby rattata that wasn't even strong enough to tackle. "Prey on the prey" he told ditto. Ditto slithered into battle, transforming into the Ekans. Holding the quick claw, ditto was assured to strike first. It clentched on with a bite attack, causing the ekans to let out a Screech of pain. This stunned Ditto, and lowered its defense, but it knew it couldn't lighten up. It went for another bite attack , this time the Ekans retaliated with a bite of its own. The attack stung, but with one final bite, the ekans scurried off before fainting completely, choosing to leave the young rattata alone.

Oh the irony when a wild pidgey thought that ditto was an ekans and tried to attack it. it swooped down to attack it, but jimmy returned ditto just in time. Jimmy called out his dratini to battle. The Pidgey swooped down again, this time landing the quick attack on Dratini. Dratini reacted with a light thunderbolt, causing the tiny bird pokemon to faint. Jimmy thought for a second, then decided to not capture this pokemon either. he returned his dratini and healed his pokemon with few potions.

Avonlea made her way to the port and purchased a ticket to the Sevii Islands, One Island. Or, as the ticket clerk called it, Knot Island. There was still time before the ferry left for the islands, so Avonlea decided to do a little shopping. While she was purchasing her ticket, she overheard a few woman talking about whether they should wear yukata or not. There was also mention of jinbei, but wasn't that typically worn by men? Her sense of traditional fashion wasn't as strong as it was when she was still living in Geosenge. But, yukata were usually beautiful, she knew that. There was a problem, though. Yukata were long, and covered a person's legs. Avonlea detested the very idea. Not only would it make it hard to grab her Poke Balls if she had to battle, but why would she cover her legs? They were two of her finest features. No....Avonlea would buy one of those false kimono/yukata things. It was probably rude to the traditions of the festival, but she at least wanted to somewhat follow tradition. At the very least, she could use a change of clothes. At least the clothes she bought would be a bit more modest than the ones she had on now.

Why was it that when someone went shopping for one thing, they ended up buying everything? Along with her chosen garb for the Tanabata festival, she also bought a lot of items. A bunch of Chilan berries, a Psychic Gem, a Heart Scale....Did she even need these things? Probably not, but she bought them anyway. Maybe she would be glad she did in the future, but right now she just felt stupid. Well, regardless, it was time to go. The ferry for the Sevii Islands would be leaving soon. Thankfully she remembered, too, because she almost missed it.
