It had taken Bryne longer than she had expected to bring Vogel around to meet her parents. It wasn't fear, really, on her part, but on Vogel's. He was painfully shy sometimes, for a Scout - their newly appointed rank. She had known Vogel from when they were both very young, and had spent most of their time together since they had first met.
In fact, they were nearly inseparable. Even so, Bryne had to spend the time building up the patchwork lion's courage to meet her parents officially, in terms of their courting. It was probably quite obvious, from the outside, how infatuated they were with one another.
Still, Bryne was going to proper in this. She intended to tell her parents first, of course, that she planned to court Vogel, and then she would ask his parents - it was as simple as that, really. She had her mind set on it, as well as her heart, and she was determined not to take no for an answer from anyone.
The pair trekked up to where Bryne's parents were waiting, Vogel near pressed to her side. She could feel the light tremors of nerves that Vogel was emitting, but she could only smile. "Relax, it won't be so bad," she told him, nudging him lightly as they neared her parents.

Issa frowned at his mate, and curled his lip up before sighing dramatically. "Better a rut in the ground than a male to take away my baby girl." He had found himself ready to fight Gods to keep his cubs safe and sound, but love...? He was so torn on whether or not to support it, since he'd found so much happiness with his own mate or to run this punk off.
"You're right, as always," Issa grinned, nuzzling her head before sitting. Hopefully his paw tracks would be less visible that way. At this angle he could see his lovely Bryne making her way back home, but it wasn't his daughter he was focused on. Rather, it was the dark maned male behind her. He seemed pretty stuck on her, rather than struck! Hadn't he seen this male before...? Was he a friend? He couldn't keep all of his cubs friends straight in his head, but the resemblance was strong.
"So," He tried his best to look intimidating. "Is this the male you've chosen, Bryne?"
It almost killed him not to run down and hug her.

Vogel found himself shaking as soon as they stood before Bryne's parents. It took him a moment to school his features, attempting to put on a brave face. It was scary, honestly! Bryne could be a force to reckon with, so to meet the ones that had raised her.
Utterly terrifying, if anyone had been wondering.
Bryne was all smiles, though."Of course," she wanted to laugh at her father's attempt to intimidate Vogel - she knew it was working, after all. She near pushed Vogel forward as if to present him.
She wasn't sure they recognized Vogel, though she had played with him often as a child, and began scouting with him as soon as they were both old enough to do so. Vogel looked so nervous.
"Relax," she murmured again, hoping he wouldn't stutter as he was prone to when he was frightened.
"Ah, hello," He started, wincing at a small crack in his voice - one that he hadn't gotten for a long while. That was new, really. He hoped it wouldn't continue. "It's n-nice to meet you both."

Bryne suddenly frowned, sighing. This was not going as well as she had expected. She knew Vogel was nervous, but her mother likely thought Vogel a coward. He wasn't, not totally, though he had his fears - just as everyone else did.
She watched as Vogel took a deep breath and squared his shoulders, per her mother's instructions. "It simply hadn't been the right time," Bryne spoke. "We hadn't spoken of courting until we were both set on our career path." She wanted to explain. It wasn't something they had really planned - it happened. Of course, then it took some coaxing.
Perhaps she should have asked Vogel's parents first.
"It's, ah, just a little intimidating, ma'am," Vogel cleared his throat. "I care for Bryne very much, and I wish to spend the rest of my life with her, if she'll have me." He wanted to stop speaking there, nearly stuttering again, though Bryne looked on in affection for him.

Issa leaned against his mate for the fraction it would take for her to see the smile blossoming on his maw. He had been just as nervous as this young male once. Though, his nerves had been in front of his beloved, and not her parents, thank goodness! He wouldn't have survived.
"So the two of you have careers set up, then? I know you had moved towards the Scouting path, wasn't that right, Bryne?" Still, his harsh frown began to melt into something of a sweet smile.
"I'm sorry, Vogel, you really shouldn't get so tore up about this. I was just teasing, I'm actually quite glad that someone's shown interest in our little flower brier here." He couldn't keep up the tough act for long, and popped out in a short laugh. "Gods above, you should see your face! I'm going to eat you, son, Idris might though...."

Bryne gave a small snort, brushing against her chosen mate. She was quite surprised her father kept it up quite so long as well. Vogel was still nervous, even with the disposition of Bryne's father changing to something more jovial.
"I won't," Vogel stated that firmly. He would never do anything to harm Bryne. The thought of making her upset with him set chills up his spine. He completely adored her, after all, and Bryne looked upon him fondly after a moment.
"We're both going to be scout, Daddy," she told him. Vogel's career path had been gently swayed by her. He hadn't had a career in mind, but they stuck close together from early on, and he followed her into what she was doing. He did his job well, but he wasn't quite as passionate about it as Bryne was.
Bryne was the one shooting to become the head scout, to take on her own band of younger scouts.

Bryne's grin was so bright she felt as if her maw would split her face wide open. She was incredibly happy that his had gone so well. She leaned against Vogel, who laughed with her and shared in her happiness. "We will," Vogel said amused. They both had their abilities when it came to scouting, after all!
But then, the topic of children came up. Of course the pair had talked about children. Bryne hummed, happy still, and still leaning against her mate. They were working on it!
"Children will come, in time, Dad," she sighed, a happy sigh. She hoped soon - the pair were very open and honest in their communication with one another. Vogel nuzzled Bryne gently, giving a small laugh against her face.
Yes, everything would come together perfectly, in time.
