[Fight!] Asil vs. Nur

Nur waited for the male to make a move, calculating his energy level. He was weak, that much was certain, but it was at this moment when desperation kicked in. She knew not to underestimate him.

The movement made her pounce as well and they met in the air, allowing her to rake her claws down his shoulder, intersecting an already-deep wound. Well, at least he'd get a cool scar from that. There were some bright sides to fights! Although scars acquired from a losing battle were generally sneered at.

For once in his life, Asil was not thinking about scars. He was msotly thinking about not dying! There was also the fringe thought that if he didn't die tonight, his mother just might kill him when and if he managed to drag himself home. She'd be so disappointed with him, in the way only a mother could be. He'd almost take being physically gutted over that.

The male grunted, his only acknowldgement of the latest damage, and twisted to try to bite at the offending paw.

Victory was close, Nur could tell. The male was losing too much blood to stay on his feet much longer. He had just enough energy to land another hit, though, his teeth chomping her toes painfully. She snarled and tugged her paw free, shaking the pain out as she flexed her claws. She could feel her own wounds starting to smart, and she was thankful this fight wouldn't go on much longer. Fighting for your life was never fun...but making someone fight for their life? Quite enjoyable.

Asil was so not enjoying himself, not at all, except in that brief moment when he managed to bite down on her paw - that he enjoyed, in a purely spiteful way, but even then, it was fleeting. He wanted to win, he wanted to miraculously find more strength than the blood loss had left him, but his body was not cooperating with his heart. He had the courage, but the strength was lacking.

He tried to lunge at her, but it was more of a lurch.

Biding her time, Nur waited for the perfect time to strike. She let the bloodloss get to the head of the other lion, making him a bit desperate, less calculating in his moves. When he lunged forward she was ready, striking out with her claws and a warning growl. Any closer and she'd have caught him full in the eye, but as it was her claws raked painfully, if not harmfully, over his nose.

The rake of claws across his nose was nothing, compared to everything else. If anything, it felt like he was being scolded, which was insulting and vaguely annoying. He snarled back at her and raised his paw, one last show of defiance.

And it was exactly that: a show.

Nur withdrew her paw and lowered her center of gravity, ready for a fight. None came immediately, though, as the lion seemed to move in slow motion. He raised his paw and, deciding to do the same, she reared back and lifted her own in a show of imitation. All she needed was one more good hit...and she'd let this lion finish himself off. She waited, knowing the wait would spur his blood-thirsty brain into motion.

Finally her opponent fell. Nur, breathing heavier than she had anticipated. He had put up a fight at the end, that was for sure. Wiping some blood from her face with her paw, she grinned and trotted away to help her pride mates. Surely they would be close to victory now!
