Damon was the average high school horny boy who got by with good grades, and ladies attracted to him like magnet, because of his money. His dad is a rich man, and his mom is a rich woman, and thus, created a very well future in hold for Damon. Also, getting away with anything from the police due to a vastly wealthy bribe from his dad was pretty splendid. But recently, everything had been out of order. Who was once a loser on a stupid park basketball court was now on their school's court and making his way up at Damon's title. And what's worse about it is that the guy wasn't even trying. He just succeeded because it was like things were handing to him. Jake was his name, and Damon wanted to bring him down. Not only was Jake almost captain of the basketball team, which was Damon's current spot, but Jake also managed to get the hottest girl in school to be wrapped around his finger. It was pissing Damon off. The next thing Damon knew would be Jake planning a party, but he was a goodie two shoes. Like his best friend.

Speaking of his best friend: Damon had a plan in mind. He was failing math anyway, something that he needs to bring up. Why not plan a little tutoring with the girl? Surely, she might hate him because Damon occasionally push Jake around for gaining the new title, but that was Damon. He walked into the classroom where he was sure that ____ was in, and called, "Hello? I need some tutoring."

Hope was of course, in one of the empty class rooms. Being top of most of her classes made her the school tutor, but she wasn't about to protest. Despite the fact that most kids in the school either picked on her, or just flat out ignored her, Hope was always more than happy to help. She was hunched over the desk top, solving chemical equations, when someone rapped at the door and stopped her concentration. Looking up from her paper, Hope half expected to see Jake, her best friend, but instead she saw Damon. Hearing him say he needed some tutoring, Hope nodded and stood from the desk she had been as, bring a small planner with her. Stretching out her hand, she gave Damon, one of the most popular kids in school, a bright smile before introducing herself "I'm Hope Adams", shaking his hand softly she opened the planned "When do you wanna start and how long did you want them for?" she asked, looking down shly as she waited so she could document this moment and later tell Jake how Damon and her for tutoring. Damon never asked anyone outside of his friend circle for anything. The fact that he was right in front of her, asking for tutoring lesson meant one of two things. His parents had sent him, or he was up to something. But knowing Hope, she just assumed it was the first.

Damon walked further inside the empty classroom when he had caught sight of Hope. Luckily she was cute or else Damon wouldn't have gone through with this bluff. Revealing his recent test that he failed, Damon gave her a crooked, disappointed smile. "How long do you think?" he asked after her previous question that lead him to reveal the F. Of course he wasn't doing bad in the first place. "Aren't you Jake's friend? Is he going to like this?" asked Damon. Jake dislikes Damon as much as Damon hates Jake. They both just didn't like one another and tend to consider each other enemies. "Either way, I need to get a better grade to stay on the basketball team.. Please, Hope. You're my only.. hope. Now that I say it, it's sort of ironic because--" Damon let out a breathy chuckle, as if the joke would explain itself, though it should. Her name was hope and she was his last hope of getting a grade. "It's you or no one else.." Though there were other tutors, Damon wanted her specifically to mess with Jake.

Hope watched as Damon produced a test, an F huh? well there could be worse things, looking at the subject she let out a hhhmmm she tried to come up with a reasonable amount of time to get Damon back on his celebrity feet. When he asked if Jake would be okay with it, Hope giggled "We're friends, Jake isn't about to tell me who I can and can't tutor" she replied as she handed him his paper. When he said she was his only hope she rolled her eyes "Right, we'll start tomorrow" she said sharply as she collected her things. "Meet me after your last class, you can pick the place we stay at. It doesn't matter to me" she said as she pulled her tote bag over her shoulder "See you tomorrow sparky" she said as she walked out, barely able to stay on her two feet. Hope felt her face burn with heat as the red color flushed across her cheeks. She couldn't believe the Damon had come to her to get tutoring. Although Hope knew it was probably a trick, no one ever cared to ask for her specifically, and well Damon was, above all else, very nice on the eyes. Seeing Jake walking down one of the halls, Hope waved "Jake!" she called as she rushed over to her friend to fill him in on what just happened.

Hope walked into her next class flustered and angry. How dare he! After Hope had told Jake what had happened he'd freak on her, in the middle of the hall. She gotten so many looks. She took her seat and rested her head on the cool wooden top. Jake could be so immature at times, it was a surprise he was still getting the grades he always had. With a sigh she closed her eyes and tried hard not to think about Jake. "He's just a jerk" she said to herself, not looking up as she sighed again. Hope felt her phone go off. She knew it was Jake, so she didn't bother to pull out her phone and check. Then it went off again, and again. She couldn't help the dry laugh that vibrated up her throat and out her mouth when she felt her phone vibrate Jake's endless apologies in her pocket. But she didn't care, after his stunt in the hall it was going to take more than a few texts for apologies to make her happy 'a*****e' she thought to herself as she whined softly onto the desk top.

Damon smiled when Hope had said that they were to start the tutoring tomorrow, and that he was going to pick the place. Even better. He let a warm smile appear on his lips, instead of a grin that is normally plastered on his features. He was utterly surprised how accepting Hope was, even after all the d**k moves Damon pulled on her best friend, Jake. Who cares, at least he was in. Now he just needed to pick a good place. After leaving, Damon was met with an argument in the hallway. It was obvious, it was loud, and it was Jake. He was screaming at Hope for tutoring Damon, and honestly, Damon couldn't help the grin on his face now. Good. Jake was losing his best friend. Now Damon just had to scoop in and mend Hope's heart to make her feel better and snatch her away from Jake. Damon chuckled and walked off, proud.

The next day, Damon walked downstairs from his room to the kitchen where his dad was. He was reading a newspaper, also sipping on his coffee. He looked just like Damon: brown hair, light eyes, and similar features. But his dad also taught Damon how to manipulate people, so that's where Damon gets his attitude. "So, did you get rid of the threat yet? Jake?' asked his dad, looking up from his paper. When Damon explained that he was working on it, he gained a rolled eyes from his dad. "Whatever, son. Just disappoint me more. Talk to me when you gain your basketball team back." With that, Damon was alone in the kitchen. With a scoff, Damon grabbed his backpack and slug it over his shoulder.

During the day, Damon told Hope to meet him on the deck by the water for their tutoring. He didn't have much of a plan right now. He was just going to be his charming self and get Hope to fall in love with him, only to break her heart afterwards. That's what the initial plan is. But he didn't know what to do right now. So, for now, Damon sat on a bench by the water, a table in front of him and another cement bench on the other side of the matching table. When seeing Hope, Damon smiled and watched as she sat down. "Hey, listen, about yesterday.. I saw what happened between you and Jake. I just want you to know that he's a jackass for yelling at you like that. Also because I don't like him, but y'know, the other reason too. You don't deserve that. You're just helping someone." Damon nodded his head and pressed his line together in a thin line before heaving out a deep breath. "So, what are going to start on?"

Hope woke the next morning, her and Jake had been on the phone nearly all night. With a heavy sigh, she turned over in bed and took a glance at the clock. As usual, she'd gotten little sleep, she was ready to go back to sleep when she heard footsteps above her. But what kept Hope from falling asleep was a loud scratching sound right outside her door. She whined softly "Skittles..." She said. Hope's pet ferret Skittles would always come scratching at her door, no matter the time, the small ferret had more energy than Hope could keep up with. Listening closely, she smiled as the scratching faded into small footfalls. Hope closed her eyes, listening and picturing her ferret walking into the cage, up the ramps and into the hammock her brother would be resting in. Hope was about the go back to sleep when she heard the footsteps go from one set to two. She sighed and pulled the cover over her head as she wished Jake had never called to make sure she was okay, damn him some days. Knowing it was futile, she threw the covers off her body and headed for her walk-in closet to find an outfit for the day. Walking out, she walked to the bathroom outside her room and looked at the small mirror that hung just above the sink in her tin bathroom. Looking at her hair she wanted to cry. As always it was in such a mess she wondered how she'd ever get it to look half decent everyday. Looking at the time, she grinned and grabbed her batman tote bag before rushing up the stairs. "Anabell?" she called the girl. Hearing a what coming from the top floor, she stood at the bottom of the stairs on the middle floor "Wanna do my hair? It can't be tamed!" she called, knowing her sister would get a kick out of the Miley Cyrus song reference. Anabell loved doing make-up, but not your everyday beauty make-up, not that she could do beauty make-up and make anyone look good. Anabell like to do special effects make-up, but she was far more skilled than Hope when it came to facial beauty and all that. Hope walked up the staircase, heading for the bathroom her sister shared with her brother and grandmother "Hey" she said seeing Anabell in the middle of applying her eye liner.

Watching her younger sister skillfully run the point of the black pencil across her waterline in the most elegant manner ever, she tried not to think about what she probably looked like when she attempted to apply the stuff. "I'm having a mid-hair crisis, can you help?" she asked once her sister had straightened and looked at her through the mirror. After a few minutes, Hope was practically skipping her way down the stairs, her hair curled and bouncing around her face. When her mother noticed, she merely glanced at Hope and rolled her eyes before walking into the kitchen. Hope rolled her eyes at her mothers back, it was almost always the same with that woman. Nonetheless, she turned and headed for the front door. After a short bus ride, Hope was at school, early of course. She met up with friends, they all talked about whatever before the bell rang for classes. Damon had found her during the day to tell her where to meet him for the lessons. She'd thought it was strange, where he wanted to meet for the lessons, but at least she was getting paid nonetheless. Once she'd finished in her last class of the day, Hope gathered her things and headed to her locker. After talking to friends while collecting her books and whatever would be necessary for the tutoring with Damon, she headed for the doors of the school. Hope reached the dock and looked around. Once she spotted Damon, she slowly made her way towards him. She took a seat and before she could say a hello, he was telling her how he felt sorry about Jake's stunt yesterday in the halls. Hope turned a dark red and looked away "He an get a little roady sometimes" she said in Jake's defence. Turning to Damon, she pulled out her materials "We'll start from the beginning of the chapter" she replied as she opened the text to the page where the chapter had begun.

After about two hours, Hope leaned back and looked at Damon "You wanna try the problem on your own this time?" she asked. At this point it was hard to tell if a few lessons would suffice for Damon. She felt sorry due to the fact that he would probably need several lessons before he could actually relearn and find out what it was that made him mess up. Which also met that she had a lot of work cut out for her. Looking at her watch Hope yawned "I'm gonna need a coffee" she said, thinking aloud. Hope had a lot of work to do. Aside from planning the next few weeks of lessons for Damon, she had tones of her own work to do. Hoped started to pack away her things while she contemplated going to a Starbucks for a coffee maybe. Her mother would probably give her heck for it when Hope arrived home let. But sometimes Hope found it easier to concentrate when there wasn't thousands of people shouting her name every second and endless noise until the latest hours of the night. Then there was her little cousins that were over nearly everyday and she had to baby sit. It was all quite stressful. She could already feel her stress levels rising even though she wasn't even close to her home. Hope wished she could go home and watch pokemon on netflix, but instead she had to deal with her family and work her a** off so she could get great grades. Hope wanted to get into college one day, she wasn't sure about what she wanted to be, or what she wanted to take in college just yet. But she knew that if she worked hard and got good grades then she could get into a college of her choosing hopefully, although she knew there were cases where some college programs looked at more than just high school grades, but when she knew what she wanted to do, she would find out requirements and what not, for now she just needed to focus on her studies "You don't have to pay me right now. Once we're done you can pay me the full amount" she said before pulling her tote bag over her shoulder.

Damon tapped his fingers on the cement looking table, gazing out to the water. The glistening light of the sun beaming down on the shaking water was actually quite soothing. Most often, teenagers liked to go down to the beach and have parties, and Damon liked to join, but he often wondered what it would be like to take a boat out in the ocean and just, well, escape it all. The pressure to be the best basketball player from his dad. How his dad manipulates his mom. Whenever Damon thinks back to the best memories he has of his dad, he always remembered his mom's face. Damon always thought that everything was fine, and that the family was together, and everyone was happy. But, somehow, whenever Damon looked back, even at his happiest memory when Damon loved his dad, he remembered his mom's face. She wasn't happy. Damon couldn't believe that his mom is stuck with his dad and won't get divorce. Then again, Damon didn't care about his mom as well. Sure, she meant well and want to take care of Damon, but what's the point if she's not there to take care of him. She always take business trips.

Damon was taken from his deep thoughts when Hope had said that they will start from the beginning of the chapter. Straightening up, realizing that he was slouching in a brooding way, Damon gave her his best charming smile. "Alright, teacher," he mused with a soft chuckle. It's been two hours, sitting by the water, papers scattered about the small table, and Damon actually learning this time. If he presented her a paper that had at least a C or more, she would be impressed and proud of her work. If Damon makes her proud of herself, compliment her, then just maybe she'll fall for it even more. Damon just will have to refrain himself from liking her. Honestly, after sitting across from her for two hours, he could see how pretty she was. But he couldn't admit that to himself. He can't like the girl he's going to hurt.

Seeing her raise up from her seat, explaining how he can pay her when they were finished. Damon was going to protest, convince her to sit back down, but when looking at his own watch, he knew he was late for dinner. His dad was going to kill him. Damon winced and said, "Oh, yeah, I gotta go too." But before Hope could leave him, Damon shoved his things inside his bag and stood up. "Hope!" Casually jogging over to where she stood, Damon held up some money. He knew that she would protest, considering that she said to pay him when they were done. "This isn't payment. This is a tip from me," explained Damon, grabbing her wrist gently and pulling it closer to him to place the cash inside. She couldn't count it by how much he held up, but he handed her about $100. His mom was rich and was able to give them a mansion for their house, and his dad had his own business so that helped. With a nod and a smile, Damon fixed his bag over his shoulder and turned to walk off. His dad will form some long, heavy game of basketball for being late to dinner that would only require he and his dad. His mom was currently out on one of her trips.

Hope turned and started to walk off, she looked at the water and for a moment, she wondered what Jake would say if he knew she'd been tutoring his worst enemy for two hours 'Well he needs to group up' she thought with a roll of her eyes as she took any thoughts of her best friend from her mind. Continuing to walk, she heard Damon call to her. Raising a brow she turned to see the male jog up to her. He grabbed her wrist and shoved money into her hand, not giving her anytime to react before he smiled at her and rushed off. Looking down she nearly let the bill fall to the floor. One hundred dollars! That was way too much for a tip, even for Mr. Rich and famous Damon Scott. Hope took the bill and placed it in the tote bag, she'd return the money tomorrow at school, no way she was going to accept this much money from anyone, tip or no tip, one hundred was far too much. Looking at the time she sighed, she didn't have enough time for the coffee now, she'd just have to walk home.

When Hope got home, her mother came right at her and started to question why she'd come home late and blah, blah, blah. Hope always told her mother she'd be home late before she came through the door late. But as usual, her mother would just get mad and never care much to hear what Hope had to say. Standing in the door way while her mom yelled, she waited until the woman was done before she nodded and headed to her room. Hope shut the door lightly and dropped her tote before falling on her bed. Closing her eyes, she allowed herself a few seconds of peace and quiet before she heard her mother hollering for her. "Coming!" she said before she changed into pj's and walked right back up the stairs to see what her mother needed of her this time. Hope's mother always had one and a million things for her to do, and it never matter if Hope had things to do herself, her mother always came first. Sometimes Hope would explain that she needed to finish work, and while, at times her mother would understand, most of the time her mother would tell her she was lying and force Hope to do whatever the woman wanted. Hope would sometimes forget what her mother asked, mainly do to the fact that the woman pilled things on her all at the same time.

She recalled the one time her mother had asked her to do something when the woman had changed insurance policies on their cars. Hope had told her mother she would do whatever she wanted her to, but after her mother told her to print the papers, she asked another thing of Hope. Poor Hope had forgotten about the insurance papers and her mother had freaked on. Hope had run off to her room and spent the next few hours crying while her mother talked badly about her to the rest of the family. Hope was the oldest of three and nothing ever got easy for her, it always seemed to get worse. If it hadn't been for Jake, Hope had no idea where she would have been today. She always did her best in school, she had even achieved an overall eighty average last year. She did it to please herself, but also to please her mother. In fact most of what Hope did was to please her mother. But instead of encourage her, Hope's mother would often, unintentionally put her down. Once Hope had been told what her mother needed of her, she did what was asked before heading back to her room and pulled out her home work. When Hope was done, it was about midnight, the house was dead silent and she was alone in her room. She looked at her phone and wondered if Jake would wanna talk. Often they would talk at night, falling asleep over the phone. She reached for the phone and dialed as she cleared away her things.

Hope rose the next morning, she looked at her phone with a smile. She could her her best friend snoring lightly. She tired not to laugh as she quietly slipped from her bed and headed for the shower. When she returned to her room, she'd noted that Jake was still snoring, even though she could clearly hear the alarm on the other end of the phone. It was a wonder how this kid managed to do so well and get to school on time when he never woke up on time. "Jake! Get up!" she said a little loud into the phone. Hearing her friend wake with a start she laughed "See you at school" she said before she hit the end button and proceeded to get dressed. Once she was dressed, she fixed her hair before heading up the stairs and walking into the kitchen for breakfast. "Morning Mom" she said kissing the older woman's cheek. Saying good morning in Portuguese to her grandmother, she also kissed the elderly woman's cheek. Setting toast into the toaster, she rummaged through the fridge to find something other than butter to spread on her toast. After nutella on toast and a glass of milk, she stood and cleared off her dishes before she bid her mother and grandmother good bye and headed out the door. Hope found Jake walking and caught up to him "Hey!" she called, falling into step beside him as the two talked the entire way to school.

                                  "How much are you lifting?"

                                  "Uh, 160."

"Wow, I didn't know I had a daughter," said Damon's dad, Keith. Damon was sitting at the table, forced to eat breakfast because his dad felt as if they didn't connect as much as he liked. Damon used dry humor and replied with, 'Gee, wonder why.' News of the day was that his mom was going to come home tonight and Damon was expected to come straight home after school. Keith should've figured out by now that Damon is rebellious. When seeing Damon stand up as if he was finished, Keith saw that his son still had some pancakes on his plate. "Where do you think you're going? You still have food on your plate. Sit down."

"Dad, I got to get to school," argued Damon, pointing a hand towards the direction of the front door.

Keith shook his head and looked at Damon. "I don't care. I want a champion for a son, so I'm going to earn it. But that means you have to earn it to. I'm not letting my son run around on a semi-ly full stomach. Sit down."

"No, dad. I have to go to school," fought Damon as he grabbed his bag and walked out before his dad could do anything. Damon came to school in a rather heated anger, gripping the one strap over his shoulder from his backpack and brooding shoulders visible as he walked down the hall. In fact, it was like he saw right through Hope, considering the first thing on his head was his dad. Damon walked right past Hope and leaned against the locker by a girl's. She had crazy blonde hair, and she was currently placing items in her bag. She saw Damon and smiled as she also noticed his angered body language.

"Hey, babe," she said, leaning in to plant a kiss on his cheek. "Dad hit you once again?"

"He thinks he can control my life. Like I can't make my own decisions!"

The female laughed before shoving her hands inside her pockets after shutting her locker door. "Well, prepare for another mental blow to the stomach. I'm breaking up with you, Damon.. I'm sorry, but I just can't do this anymore. It's all about sex, yelling, and, quite frankly, basketball got into this relationship. Sorry, Damon, but I can't do it anymore." With that, the girl walked off, leaving Damon in an even bitter mood.

Hope and Jake arrived at the school just in time to watch as the scene between Damon and his girlfriend unfolded. Thing was, Hope didn't care that Damon had had his heart broken, when really got to her was the fact that none of his so called friends, who were clearly all around him, were trying to comfort him. She turned to Jake, who explained about Damon's girlfriend and Damon's anger issues. Hope frowned at her best friend "I feel bad for him" she said softly. Jake rolled his eyes and told Hope Damon wasn't worth her time and sympathy. Hope turned to her friend "When did you become such a jerk?" she asked before walking off. Hope carefully walked up to Damon. Lightly tapping him on the shoulder, she jumped a little when he turned, rage red and hot in his face. Swallowing, she tried to look anywhere but his eyes "Sorry about your girlfriend..... If you wanna talk.... We can after school during tutoring.... And umm" she said reaching into her pocket "Here's your money, I can't accept a hundred dollars... I hope you'll understand" she said before smiling softly at him and heading to her class.

Hope sat in her usual spot. After she'd walked away from Damon in the hall earlier, Jake had caught up to her and apologized, she knew he hated Damon, but that was no reason for Jake to be so cold hearted. She knew, of course, Damon was probably more cold hearted than Jake, and even though Damon's friends hadn't offered and form of sympathy or friendship for him, he probably didn't deserve hers. But The thing about Hope was, she always cared too much. She didn't enjoy watching people suffer, bad or not, she always felt like she had to help people. She knew she took after her mother in this sense, and in a few other ways she wished she hadn't. With a sigh of exhaustion, she slowly lowered her head until it was level with the desk. Closing her eyes, she tried not to think too much about what would happen when Jake found out her and Damon were spending time together, even though she had told Jake that her tutoring job had nothing to do with his foolish fights and sworn enemy ships with whomever in their school. She needed the money to save up to move out after high school, not to mention college, and Jake just needed to realize a job was a job and everyone had to work with people they don't really like, it was just the way life went. 'So why can't Jake back off and just give me some space?' she thought to herself with a groan.

Damon couldn't think straight. His mind, racing at a thousand miles per minute, was only enhancing his anger by the second. He wanted to leave school, he wanted to vent out physically, or just shoot some hoops. But due to his dad's big dream of getting Damon a basketball scholarship with a good grades, Damon was stuck here. His wandering thoughts turned dark, plotting on how Damon could just leave it all behind. How to just let himself be free for once. His heart was pounding with rage, his grip was death tight on his backpack straps, and his gaze was a glare at everyone in the halls who were awkwardly trying to avoid his sight. Soon, a gentle hand was on his shoulder. Too soft to be one of his friends, too small to be his now ex girlfriend. Damon didn't mean to, but when he turned around, he shot the intruder a glare. But when seeing that it was Hope, his current tutor and the girl he was manipulating, Damon's eyes soften. "Sorry," said Damon, and just when she said the same word. His eyes coated with confusion, his brows mixing together as to why she was sorry. Especially with Jake roaming about the halls and surely giving her hell about Damon. Well, it was a good thing too, if it were to cause Jake to leave his best friend and soon become miserable. Damon can remember his dad's voice, telling him that Jake was competition and that Damon wasn't his son until Jake was out of the picture.

Damon listened to Hope, finding his grip on his backpack straps lighter and his surroundings less intense. A part of him wanted to finally let someone hear what his issues were at home, and ask from another perspective what to do, but then again, Damon didn't want to grow close to the girl whom he was trying to manipulate. Soon, Hope had returned Damon the money he granted her after their first tutoring session, explaining that she can't accept it. Damon pursed his lips to the side, looking at the money she placed in her hands before watching her back slowly grow smaller and smaller until she turned into a classroom. Damon hadn't realized it until she was gone, but he was watching Hope down the hall, and didn't dare to remove his eyes from the door she entered until a few moments. Damon heaved out a heavy sigh, one that took a lot, and then shoved the green paper inside his pockets. "Get your head in the game, Damon," he muttered to himself, turning to go to his own class.

Tutoring wasn't an option after school that day. Jake and Damon both knew that there was a basketball game after school that day and Damon was dead set on never passing the ball to Jake. He even told some of his friends to refuse to pass the ball to Jake. Damon was sure that Hope would be at the game to support Jake, so Damon wanted to also snatch this opportunity. Near the end of the first quarter, the ball in Damon's hands, Damon looked to the cheering audience and caught sight of Hope. Jake was surely watching, and everything inside of Damon told him to wink at Hope to piss Jake off. But for some reason, seeing her on that bleachers, cheering for her best friend, Damon envied that. Instead, he gave her a soft, crooked smile, before looking back to the game. Jake hadn't managed to get his fair share of the ball this entire night, and Damon still wanted to keep it that way. With a few seconds on the clock before halftime, Damon wanted to make a three points shot. Their team was up by at least 20 points, all thanks to Damon and his shooting skills. After Damon dribbled the ball, taunted the players and tricked them, Damon shot the ball and watched as it went through the hoop after the buzz was heard. Halftime meant break. Though the buzz already went off, the ball was in the air and the point counted all the same. Casually jogging to the side, Damon was coated with a thin layer of sweat, searching around his duffle bag for a bottle of water.

After attending all her classes, Hope headed straight for her locker in hopes that Jake wouldn't find her. She had almost forgotten that he had a basket ball game today, two of the members on the team where in one of her classes and she overheard them discussing the matter during work time. Hope let out a heavy sigh, the last thing she wanted was Jake and his basket ball buds to walk down the hall and harass her, she wasn't a fan of being the centre of attention. Grabbing her things, she quickly headed out to the courts, wanting to get good seats on the bleacher so that she could cheer Jake on. Hope looked out onto the bleachers and tried to find someone she could sit beside, she shrugged and headed for the top, getting a seat in the corner before someone could take it. Hope sat and waited for the game to start, she wasn't exactly a fan of sports, but she'd always came out to the games to cheer on her best bud no matter what. When it started she smiled and let out a loud "Woooooooh! Go Jake go!", as she watched the player come out onto the court. As the game started, Hope watched as the game went on, of course Damon hogged the ball and refused to let Jake help, buys..

When the buzzer sounded for half time, she watched the boys all go off to take a break. She slipped from the bleachers and made her way around the court to find Jake "Hey!" she said waving to her best friend. Hope saw Jake smile and blushed lightly "Hey yourself Hope!" Jake said as he wrapped his arms around the girls waist and spun her around. Hope let out a squeal when she was lifted off the ground and spun. When Jake put her down she rolled her eyes "Really?" she asked, watching him grin. Hope let out a short breath "Sorry you haven't gotten a lot of plays today... Damon seems to be pretty keen on making sure of that" she said, wishing Damon would grow up and stop acting like he was a two year old boy. "Don't worry about it Hope, I'm sure things will get better in the second half" Jake said with another grin. Hope couldn't help but laugh softly, no matter how bad things got, Jake would always look on the brighter side. And then there was the fact that Jake wasn't about to give Damon the satisfaction of putting him down. Hope admired that about Jake. Looking over, the girl spotted Damon, she said bye to Jake and walked over to the other boy "About our lessons, I forgot the game was today, we can do them after if you'd like. Although we might end a little late" she said "Also, on a completely different note. Well played game, but if you and Jake worked together, I think the team could really win for sure.... I know you two hate each other, but what's a team if the players can't communicate right?" she said, hoping that it made sense "Anyways, good luck and just let me know about the lessons after the game" she said with a smile before she nodded and headed back to her spot on the bleachers.

Damon took a swig of his water and searched the crowd for his dad. Just after he parted the bottle away from his lips, he caught sight of his dad. Also, his look of disappointment. He was looking out to the court, unaware that Damon was watching him, and seemed unphased by the whole game. What snapped his attention away from his unsatisfied dad was Hope. All she wanted to talk about was of the lesson, and it almost made Damon disappointed. Not one lesson was going to change anything. He was going to have to step up his game. Then she gave him notes on his playing, how he should pass the ball to her friend. All he did was nod his head, no reaction, and waited until Hope walked off. His jaw locked as he looked down to his hands, which still held the water bottle. Not long after that, his chest was slammed down on by two palms and his jersey was gripped. Jerking his head up, Damon looked to see who it was. His dad. "Let's talk," he said, low and hushed so no one could hear but him. Damon was tugged to the boy's locker room and soon jerked inside the place. "I can walk on my own, dad!" he shouted, fixing his jersey and glaring at Keith.

Keith pointed at Damon and then out on the court. "I'm disappointed."

Befuddled, Damon recoiled, "Why? Why, dad? We're up by over ten points!"

"Not that, Damon! You're supposed to ice Jake out. Don't let him play!" Keith huffed out a deep breath, letting their eyes linger. Soon, after a disappointed shake of his head, his dad walked out, leaving Damon alone in the locker room. Soon, the buzzard had rang, signalling for the next half to play. Damon had grown the dignity to enter the game, looking at the bright lights and the cheering when he did so. His recently ex girlfriend, noticing Damon's dad yanking him to the locker room earlier, told Damon gently, "Be careful, Damon."

"I got this," he mumbled, standing by the side with the basketball in his hands. After passing the ball to one of the teammates, he entered the court and caught the ball when it was passed back over to him. Damon was hesitant though. Standing there on the other side of the court with the orange ball in his hands. His breath got caught in his throat, and he thought about his next move carefully. Soon, regaining his game, Damon started to play. In this half, Damon actually passed the ball to Jake. When Jake was open, Damon gave it to him. Screw his dad was basically the message here as Damon let Jake get a few points in. By the end of the game, they were up by 40 points and they won. Everyone cheered, everyone hugged each other, and while the teammates huddled together in one big embrace, Damon was carefully walking away towards the empty bench, a thin layer of sweat on him. Now, he was going to have to prepare for his dad's scowling unless Damon left with Hope right now.

Hope took her seat and turned to face the court once more, she couldn't help but look over at Damon, seeing the way his father talked to him. She didn't see anything wrong with it until the two move and Damon's father started to shove him. Hope rose a little in her seat, but by the time she decided to go over and see what was happening, the game was starting again and everyone was back on the court. 'Too late now Hope' she thought to herself as she sat back down and tried to focus on the game. Hope cheered both Jake and Damon on, seeing that Damon had taken to her advice on working with Jake on the court instead of against her best friend. Watching the game go on, Jake even managed to get a few shoots in. Hope was so excited she was practically jumping in her seat on the bleachers. Luckily for her, she was right at the top, so no one could tell her to sit down because no one was behind her. Hearing the buzzer for the end of the game, she cheered so loud she thought she would lose her voice. When the game was over, the whole team hugged and rejoiced. Hope rushed down the bleachers, headed for her best friend. After a short talk with Jake and a few hugs, she congratulated him on the win and turned to head off.

Hope walked over to Damon, who was still packing his things "Hey" she said as she neared. Hope came to a stop beside the male, looking him over once before giving him a smile "Congrats on winning the game" she said happily "And thank you for letting Jake play.. I know you hate his guts, but I'm still thankful" she said. "So" she started to say as she continued to watch him pack away his things "Did you still want that lesson today? My Bag's in my locker, but I could grab it real quick before we go? If you're too tired I understand, it really was an amazing game you guys played" she said, unsure of what Damon wanted to do. She knew Jake was holding an after party, to which she and Damon had been invited, but Hope wasn't one to go to parties with the rest of the school. Nope, she preferred the much more quieter scenes, with poetry or a band. Something she could do that wouldn't involve people she knew from school teasing her and making her feel both uncomfortable and worthless. She shook the thoughts and tried not to think about it so she could focus on the next lesson she had planned for Damon. 'Remember, he started from the beginning of the chapter, so next would be...' she thought to herself as she waited for Damon to reply.

Damon was beaded with his own sweat, his breathing was regular once again, and his clouded judgement was still.. well, clouded. He could feel the anger surge through him as he shoved his things inside his dufflebag. All except for his jacket which was neatly placed to the side on the wooden bench. When Hope had approached him, Damon tried to de-tense his muscles in a desperate attempt to seem calm and not so pissed off. With a small smile, he listened to Hope and heard her thank him for letting Jake play. That was when Damon realized that Hope did ask for Damon to pass the ball to her friend and he was too busy trying to make his dad angry to remember that. So, instead of telling her the truth as to why he was being kind to her friend on the court, Damon just nodded and flashed another smile at her. "Well, I guess you can get through to people," he lied, zipping up his bag. The next bold approach that Hope made that night was to ask him if he wanted to continue the study lesson, even if it was late. He wanted to tell her that she could use tonight to rest, but when seeing his dad scan the crowd for his son, Damon needed an alibi as to why he didn't want to go home right now. Damon was aware of the after party, and how Jake was the host of it, but even in his bitter mood, he wasn't up for a crowd grinding against each other. Normally, Damon would be at parties, getting a girl and getting drunk. Not tonight. He wasn't up for it. Placing a hand at the small of Hope's back, Damon was dressed and gestured towards the door that lead to the halls, not outside. "C'mon," he encouraged, directing them towards the quiet hall and not staying in the loud gym with teenagers and proud parents cheering.

Damon still had on his jersey, but was wearing a matching jacket over top of it. Still didn't hide his basketball shorts and his sneakers. He didn't care though. He didn't follow behind her and instead walked beside her. Hope's locker was easy for him to find, considering he seen her at her locker once before. "Y'know, we could grab some dinner instead. Just go out, relax tonight, and we could study tomorrow. Unless, of course, you would feel weird about that--" Damon hadn't noticed how he was walking. Instead of smooth, like he normally walks down the halls when it was crowded, he was almost careful with his steps. Dragging out the beat before taking a steap and walking beside her. In a way, it seemed like he was hesitant to ask her with a tint of red hue on his cheeks. "--then we could just eat and you could tutor me there. I won't mind. We could go where ever you want to eat." Damon offered a genuine smile, his hands shoved in his jacket pockets.
