Well, members from this guild donate components or anything of use to alchemy to a spokesperson here and then that spokesperson makes a lotto thread.
Contest rules are simple. Anyone can join, entry fee would be a donation of any type of cache (just 1). Then the thread will display all items available for winning with corresponding number.
They post their random generated number and if it matches then they win those corresponding items (we donated). Arrangements are randomized, gold can be put. and etc...
Objective is to advertise the guild. Help the community. And ... make friends?
edit: the entry fee will add to a prize pool which is a designated number. So none of us get to keep any.
edit 2: good way to get rid of those caches you guys might be thinking about.

I like that there is only one option in the poll. xD
It sounds like a fun idea. Little pessimistic voice in my head says we might be swimming in Emerald, Sapphire, and Aquamarine caches. xP

Little pessimistic voice in my head says we might be swimming in Emerald, Sapphire, and Aquamarine caches. xP But we'll be giving them away for the needy and those who want to take advantage and sell em lower for business purposes.....

If there is a required entry fee of any colored cache, people can enter the lotto by donating an Emerald Cache. That Emerald is added to the prize pool, right? So if most of the contestants enter by donating Emerald Caches, those will eventually overwhelm the prize pool.

I don't know the statistics but this activity might be a way to gauge the number. Well, we can't assume every guild member participates in the initial prize pool. We have some 68 members, but about 30 are lurkers with 0 posts. We also don't have an accurate count of how many people are in Alchemy in total 'cause there are so many lurkers in the forums. And there's no telling what (mostly) free stuff will lure out. There's probably no real reason to worry about any of this anyway. I'm just thinking of worst-case-scenarios, and I'm unreasonably paranoid sometimes. sweatdrop

Sphyxia, would you be willing to run it? i would do it myself but i'm behind my guild shores sweatdrop I would say, just 100 gold entry, and whoever runs the thread and keeps it updated with prices and all those logistics, gets to keep the gold of the tickets. right now i can add 1 demonfly, 1 monarch butterfly, 5 gold caches, 10 ruby caches, 10 topaz caches to the prize pool. who's with us? for how long? How many winners? is 100 gold too much or too little?

Well putting a gold fee like 100 is... too low, and even if there were a lot of people that could make it up to 50k, it's not much. The idea that caches of any kind would be better since people could use them for something or sell them lower since it is free (and end game is someone could make use of it). With a gold fee.. well sometimes it gets neglected, squandered and etc. I wish I could help on the actual moderating but working at a hospital is enough of a stress lately :<

The idea that caches of any kind would be better since people could use them for something or sell them lower since it is free (and end game is someone could make use of it). It's a cache sink somehow. I'm also thinking of another guild activity wherein we make components more affordable while getting gold to buy more caches to make more components. Like crafting component A and price it half mp average price then use the gold we earned to buy more caches and craft them or let someone lower leveled to craft them and rinse and repeat.

I can donate some things as well. I don't know what caches at the moment, since I don't even know what I have on hand, but I do know I have a lot of...Emerald & Aquamarine XD I have a few extra diamonds that I can donate too. I sold a few to make quick gold, but I still have like 10 on hand. I can donate 5 perhaps.
& I'd love to do a thread for this, since I'm good with design & all that jazz, but....my Ph.D. program is a bit demanding XD So I'm a bit useless on that front. If I had more time I'd love to, but...I'll help simply by donating X3
