I found out a few days ago who my roomate will be for the dorm I will be staying in for my first year of college. We both want to get to know each other a little bit before moving in together. So here is the question to be discussed: Should I tell her I am a lesbian or just let her figure it out?
In my opinion, it doesn't really matter if she knows or not. I just got out of a two year long relationship so I don't plan on dating or anything for a long time. She also has a long term boyfriend. I do know that she seems to be a straight ally of the LGBTQ+ community.
Thoughts?

well you could always enter into a casual 'girl talk' conversation. get talking about relationships and just weave it in. but if you don't think it'll bother her, I wouldn't bother with it too much unless you want to.

That's a tough one. It might be easier to tell her sooner than later in case you start dating again. Then you can tell her on your own time rather than needing to tell her.

I never ended up telling my own roommate but I had guys over a couple of times xD
He never asked so I never told, not that it ever changed anything.
I'm very open about my sexuality to begin with
If you feel it may potentially be a deal breaker then by all means, tell her.

I waited until I was in a relationship before I told my college roommate xD
She was fine with it of course but still. I probably should have told her sooner.

I think I will tell her after we move in together. I have plans to join several LGBTQ+ clubs and such, and I even hope to eventually lead some of these organizations. So maybe I'll tell her when I start going to related events and what not.
