Life was beginning to...settle, somewhat. To the extent that life ever settled, she supposed. Compared to a wildfire, though, life in their new home certainly qualified as settled. It was all a matter of perspective, and perspective was something she was gaining a better appreciation of, albeit slowly. To sit, and observe, and make decisions more objectively, rather than subjectively, and consider others and their opinions more. It was a difficult lesson to learn, but she hadn't had much choice. Ruling had been a game to her, once, something to fuel her own vanity, but she could see the error in that now. Oh, she still wanted to be loved, to leave a legacy, but she was beginning to see that that would come with doing what was right, what was best for her people.
At the moment, however, reflection was neither here nor there. Her children, on the other hand, were here and there and everywhere, as children had a wont to be. She didn't remember her last litter being this hard to keep with, but that may have been selective memory.
Stopping to catch her breath as she chased after one of her daughters, Khara called after her, "Ori! Wait up!"
Ugh. This mountain air still seemed to make her short of breath, even when she wasn't far up. Maybe it was the difference in humidity?
