STORY
In a medieval world, there was a failing goddess, chased by an evil god seeking both her power and her beauty. While hidden away, the goddess realized that she would be caught, and looked upon the earth and three children dwelling below. Reaching out, she sent three items to her chosen. And in their dreams, spoke to them each. "My children, my power fails. I sent you these items of my power, may they aide you in survival until you come to meet me. My mirror, my sword, my shield." When they awoke, in their bed rested an item left for them.
To the one who was selected to be a priestess, she left an ornate silver circular mirror.
To the one who would fall into being a pirate, she left a small sword, with a bronze hilt, burnished to a shine.
To the one who was born with the blood of a princess, she left a golden shield, words of strength etched into it's rim.

The one who would be Lady Priestess Arianne Kyoko, guardian of the goddess's great mirror, was born as the daughter of a servent woman who worked in the castle kitchen. One day, as she was walking to town as child, she found a small girl- not that much younger than her, but very tiny and dressed in billowing clothes- being bullied by a bunch of boys taunting her for her clothes and high class mannor. With a few thrown rocks, and some smart words, she had saved the young princess Adelaide, middle child of the great royal family- and owner of the golden shield.
A great friendship grew between them, closer than any princess aught to be with a servant girl. It was a great scandel, until the priestess had reached the age of maturity- 16, and the high priestesses of the goddess selected her for training to be a high priestess herself, a position of honor.
One that could not be turned down.
Out of outrage at the loss of her friend, and worry over her welfare, the sword-trained warrior princess signed herself up to be a holy knight, personal bodyguard to her priestess friend. All went well as the daughter of the servent girl was blessed with her holy name of Lady Priestess Arianne Kyoko at age 20, at the same time as the princess Adelaide was knighted. Two years passed with life going in a steady pattern of the princess following the priestess on her journey's, as the Priestess spread the word of the goddess.
Until the night the goddess truely spoke to her for the first time since childhood.
When the princess entered the chamber in the morning to check on her friend, she found everything neatly tidied and packed- and her friend vanished.

the priestess had been sent on a mission by her goddess- one that must be kept secret from even the other high priestesses and her best friend, for if word of the Goddesses' weakness were to spread, it would lead to the collapse of the empire as panic swept the nation.

Forced to travel across the ocean to the nation led by the evil god who has her goddess trapped in his control, Priestestt Arianne had to find the sneakiest passage to the most dangerous country around. She had to hire a pirate.
And by fates design, it'd be the one with the blade of luck.

Even as she races to the shore, Priestess Arianne is being tracked by the princess who refuses to lose her friend, no matter the reasons.

Arianne pulled the cloaks hood higher over her face as she strode down the busy walkway to the port. It wasn't a small one, but neither did it match the countries largest. Neither the one with the most people and pomp, nor the tiniest port would suit her purposes. Too much likelihood of being rocignized in the larger ports, to little chance of the sort of vessel she needed being availible in the smaller ports. She side stepped to avoid the rush of people and the occasional pot being emptied above. Thinking of her friend with a sad smile, Arianne reflected that the habits of the life on the streets returned far more easily than she'd've thought, and how lost her friend might be in such slums. Life has never had cause to take her here. With a quick step, Arianne approached a seedy looking sailor. "You seem a sailor of the unsavory sort... Might I speak to your captain?" Her confidence and easy tone belied the look she gave him, one demanding obeidence. "I need to inquire where your vessel will be heading."

Adelaide was frantic, but she wasn't showing it against her face. She had already asked the other priestesses if they knew where her friend had gone, and that hit a dead end quick. Now she was running city to city, searching for any leads. Her red hair was in a braid down the back of her head, and it made a soft noise as it hit her armor. She was lost a couple of times, but sure enough she had gotten her first lead. A cloaked figure was seen walking around, it had to be Arianne. Adelaide smiled with new found confidence, running around finding her next clue.

"OI! You ain't need to speak ta tha captain. I kin keep ya company." The rather onsavory sailor said through several missing teeth, and a rather unpleanant odor about him. He grabbed her wrist, ready to drag her aboard his ship

Adrian, was bored. He and his crew hadn't done any 'honest' pirating for a good long while. A little smuggling and petty theivery, yes. But nothing really worthy of being called a crime. He glanced out at the dock and saw a girl speaking to a man of the ship docked next to the Lunaretic. He defty leaped onto the dock, and just as he heard the sailor speak and grab her wrist, but before any reaction could be given Adrian had a cutlass at the mans neck and a pistol at the mans groin, "I do hate people like you. You give honest pirates, like my good self, a bad name. Release her, or I will grant you a quick death. After a good deal of pain, that is."
The sailot recognized who had just threatened him and he released the girl and ran on fear. Adrian had two blades on his belt, a cutlass, his most common weapon. And a bronze hilted short sword, and the only tiem his crew had ever seen him draw it, was during negotiations, deals, and card games. He said the blade was 'lucky.'
"Now, miss, I might not be an 'unsavory' sailor, that I heard you mention. In fact, I pride myself on being captain of what is probably the cleanest pirate crew in the sea. And our destination can be changed. For the right price." He said, as he sheathed the cutlass and dropped his hand to the short sword, "So, You tell me where you need to go, and I'll tell you what it will cost."

Arianne met the gaze of the pirate calmly as he grabbed her wrist. "I'm afraid you will not suit my purposes, kindly let go." However, even as she sneakily aimed a gun towards the man, intending to shoot his leg, another swooped in to her rescue. "Since you choose to be blunt, I will as well. Pirate was what I meant by unsavory." Raising calm eyes of such a deep color they appeared black, Arianne stared him in the eye. He's aweful pretty for a pirate. He seems reliable, if not trustworthy. "My destination is rather far away. Its Homenai. And for secrecy's sake, I have an added request..." Arianne shifted her hood slighty so he could see her features clearly. "What do you say to kidnapping the Holy Priestess Arianne Kyoko. It must not be known that I left on my own. And you would gain some renown for it, as well as the gold I will pay you."

Adrians eyes went wide....and then wider. She wanted to be kidnapped? Well, it wasn't really kidnapping, though, was it? And why was she going to a pirate about this? And Homenai....was she insane?
Adrian pinched the bridge of his nose, in utter confusion. "Okay, let me get this straight. You want me, to kidnap you. Take you to some ungodly place. And then leave you?" He sighed, "As mush I'd love the notoriety I'd get. I don't like the price that I'd get on my head, especially when you don't come back. This is gonna cost you a lot. And we're going on my schedule. We'll have a few stops to make." he locked eyes with Arianne, "1,000 gold. No negotiation."

"You needn't worry about my not coming back, the Goddess will protect me." Ariannes gaze drifted to the ocean, and for a moment her eyes softened, and she appeared to be looking far beyond the sea. "She has spoken to me, through me, and I shall return home once I have done as she asks." Her eyes unfocused for a second, and she glanced at him in shock. "You." Her gaze dropped to the bronze hilt. She speaks of him... Her eyes went calm and controlled again, and she gave a slight nod as she shifted the hood to oobscur her features again. "Very well." Arianne pulled out a bag of heavy weight and extended it to him. "When does the ship this port? And which of these beauties is yours?" Her gaze skimmed the port, a slight glimmer of admiration breaking through the mask.

Adrian raised an eyebrow, "What about me? This is your trip, girlie." He said before taking the gold, keeping hos other hand resting on the bronze hilt. "I'm going on faith, and luck, that this is the right amount." He said turning and heading up the gangplank, "And this beauty. The Lunaretic. She's been mine for almost 6 years now. I got her when I was only 19, and I've never so much as ever thought of another ship. Welcome aboard miss......I have a feeling I shouldn't say your name out loud. And we'll be leavign within the hour." He then looked to his crew loading supplies, "Double time, men! I want this ship out of port within the hour! If we make it, I'll even break out a barrel of wine for you all tonight!" He shouted with a smile. At the mention of wine his crew, all fairly clean and decent looking men, gave a cheer and picked up the speed of loading. "Give the men incentive to work harder."

Arianne gave a nod. "Indeed it is." She lowered her voice as she stepped near him. "But it seems that sword of yours is lending its luck to me, for us to meet." When he was looking away, at his ship, she ran a hand over the wood. "Faithful to a ship? I've known women who would envy such loyalty." While from most that would seem a humorous statement, from her lips it seemed to carry an extra unspoken weight. "I've been hiding behind the name Anne, if you need a name for me." She gave a nod. "Added incentive is always a booon. Is there anything I could do to help?" Arianne realized how ridiculous a statement that would seem, given the trappings of her life as it is. Flowing, colorful robes, long, unbound hair, smooth hands, and the words of the high class, the phrasing that sometimes left a copper taste not unlike blood in her mouth.

Adrian gave a sharp glare to Arianne. "I don't recall ever mentioning my blade being lucky." He said gripping the handle. "How did you hear about that?" He said standing firm, "If this is some kind of trick to steal my blade, you're gonna find yerself on the wrong end of a pistol. Only warning you get. And the blade only works for me." He said as he turned and made his way towards the helm calming down, "And I've yet to meet a lady that was as honest as this ship yet. This ship bared her soul to me when I saw her, and she's never once told me a lie." He smirked, "And don't start making offers you can't keep. And you're a passenger...err, captive. You just sit back and let the crew do the work."

When he gave her a sharp look, she met hiis gaze firmly. " was told by the goddess." At the mention of her stealing, the first flash of emotion rushed into her face- herr cheeks went bright red. "You will take back the accusation, sir, that I would steal your gift from the goddess." As he calmed down, so did she. "I must apologize, you are the Captain, right? I addressed you incorrectly with that 'sir'." An affectionate smile was hidden by her hood when he spoke of the ship. "Of course. No women or man can speak as sweetly or as truthfully as the song of the wind against the sail.." It was a murmured statement as she ran her hand over the railing. "I have not been on a ship so lovely since I was a child." With a nod at his statement. "As you wish. If your crew is as well oiled as you stated, an extra hand would muck things up. I apologize." As she skimmed the ship, Arianne was pushed into her memories of the salty sea air. Why, my little girl, if I didn't have to come to port for supplies, I'd never leave the sea. Your father's happiest out at sea, my child, and I'll live here forever. her fathers voice was in and out of her mind asshe stared at the water.

"I've had more than a few people try to take my blade. I wasn't about to have another attempt on it." He said, not apologizing, but at least explaining his actions. "And next time, maybe your goddess will tell you, that some people don't like their own secrets bein' told to 'em." He said raising an eyebrow, "And you born of a sailor? The way you said that sounds like how a sailor would say it. Only not so prettied up."
PostPosted: Sat Jul 06, 2013 11:49 pm

"She's not just my goddess, she's yours. She granted you that sword, same as she granted I a gift of my own." Arianne glanced over at him. "A high priestess, born of a sailor? That would never be allowed, now would it?" Arianne was aware that that would not fool him, but she turned away and watched the waves quietly. "Besides, what I was no longer matters, correct? I am a priestess. I always will be. The plain priestess with the ornate mirror.." her last statement was stated quieter than the others.
