Being so far from home, the Hufflepuff cured her pangs for the familiar by enjoying the spread. Part of her wondered if her new school had any "muggle studies" like home economics which would allow her to share some recipes. In the meanwhile, Eliza promised herself not to eat too much no matter how good - no, excellent the food was! Removing a tiny vial of Tobasco from her pocket she gestures to the one closest to her. "Could you pass that plate - platter - when you are finished with it, please?"

CHRIS 3rd Year - Hufflepuff - Duel Club Head Chris passed the platter to the girl next to him. Last year was completely dull, and the year before that. His whole array of spells had changed since he had made his own. He didn't spot Port anywhere, most likely hanging out with the ghosts. He yawned, hoping that more new arrival would be coming to Hufflepuff, the most empty house in school. (It's hard to be loyal, trustworthy, and dependable all at the same time.)

Pallu "I'm your worst nightmare, a Ravenclaw with attitude." Pallu sat at the table holding his head in his hands, studying the wall on the opposite end of the room. It was such a bore, not knowing anyone well enough to really talk. He wondered if the few people he had talked to last year would be here, since he had nothing else to do. It's not like he had a choice, so he just sat there being bored as can be. Year 2

Adding a few scarlet drops to her food, Eliza takes a second look at the one who passed it over. Not feeling too tired - yet - perhaps this was an opening to make a new friend! "Pardon me -" she asks (Chris). "Would you like to try some of this? Or perhaps, unexpectedly having someone else...?" The Hufflepuff had a bit of mischief in her. Perhaps it was one reason most of her previous educators were still unsure as to some pranks; which had since become legends in past schools.

CHRIS 3rd Year - Hufflepuff - Duel Club Head "Sorry newbie, I don't eat things with unknown liquids in it." Chris said, " Nec sum facilis." he said in latin. (I'm not that easy.) His spell Omnia videre allowed him to see everything in the room. "Nice try though, may I ask your name?" he said.

The young Hufflepuff was offended at first with the term newbie but was impressed with the guys' use of Latin! She had trouble with Spanish in her old school and only passed when a substitute took daily points for super easy quizes. So she had literally gotten the lowest grade possible to still get the credit and not take summer school. This perhaps was a story for another time. As was other trouble she got in and out of. "Eliza - I'm a transfer from the southern USA..." turning the bottle on its side so that the ingrediant label was visable, she awaited (Chris) turn to talk.

CHRIS 3rd Year - Hufflepuff - Duel Club Head "Chris Ahari, from London." Chris said to Eliza. "3rd year, Duel Club Head, and Spell Maker." His extensive use of the Latin language allowed him enough knowledge to make spells, very powerful. "May I ask what type of wand you use?"

London! Images of Sweeny Todd, Big Ben and Sherlock Homes flashed through Eliza's head. But she didn't space out too long, she held her hands a little over six inches apart. "Cypress with a rowan base - if my first year marks are good, I've been told I'll be able to go select one more locally..." Eliza blushes slightly. Why did she have to go and tell him that?! She was having a difficult time fitting in already from her hometown and looking as young as she did. Still, the Hufflepuff tried to smile pleasently anyway.

CHRIS 3rd Year - Hufflepuff - Duel Club Head "No need to blush, Until this year, I'd been using my mom's wand. I just received mine from Diagon Alley during the summer." Chris said, "My mom is the witch in the family. My dad is a muggle, and hates the fact that I'm not like him. So he refused to take me there to get one."

Given the fact that her usual grades were average at best - except in the creative writing and a few art pieces - Eliza's father was not willing to show her off to other big wigs in local politics (etc) except when they were short handed for one of the fundraisers! Though she envied the other girls and thier fancy clothes, it was embarrassing to explain why she was asked to help pass out the drinks instead of mingling with girls and guys her own age. Still, now that the Hufflepuff was (for the most part) on her own at Hogwarts, she was determined to learn more than the silbi. "Spells fascinate me - the other day I was reminded of an old literary one -" Eliza paused to gauge Chris' reaction. "Do you know anything of the efforts of Eglentine Price...?"

CHRIS 3rd Year - Hufflepuff - Duel Club Head "Yes, spells are fascinating. I'm hoping one day to have all of mine put into a spellbook." he said. Chris heard Eliza's question and thought for a moment, "Wasn't she that witch who lived around World War 1? Or was it 2..." he never really was interested in wizard history, and knew very little except for a few key events.

Eliza was not sure if Chris was genuinely interested in the story or if it had been other elements of the story which had caught his attention. As it was, she herself was interested in the location in which they had gone looking for the other half of a particular book or the foods mentioned. Yet it was that he had opened up to one of his goals was allowing the young Hufflepuff to feel more at ease! "I like how you have that part of your life already planned; what format do you plan to follow...? Basic instruction or perhaps more on depth of ingrediants and the process of developing each spell?" Eliza hoped her complement and questions were not difficult to understand. She had also promised to attempt to make herself easier to communicate with others.

CHRIS 3rd Year - Hufflepuff - Duel Club Head "I'd most likely keep it basic. When I concentrate on things too hard, I find that I ignore the rest of the world on accident." Chris said, "Besides, most spells aren't really complicated, just use a few magic words, visualize, and poof, it happens." To be honest, he knew spells weren't that simple, yet he didn't really fully understand them himself. "There are a few complicated spells, mostly they're just spell combinations that require exact timing." He hoped he wasn't boring her with all his talk of spell-making and spell-casting.

Quite the opposite, the Hufflepuff was enchanted with thier conversation! Chris made it sound so easy - perhaps it was his confidence; not to mention his experiance. Most of her spells sounded like something learned at a Muggle theame park. Eliza knew she'd have to read at least read the first few chapters and basic spell ingrediants before her first class. Yet hoped he was not bored with her yet. "Please continue - when you say exact timing - does that mean in the casting of the spell or it's final result...?"
