Do you volunteer your time to your community or another cause? Please tell us what is either the most important thing you volunteer your time to or the most recent. If you don't volunteer, please tell me that you would if you had the time. heart Thanks.

I recently was excited to start volunteering by tutoring homeless kids in shelters, but they organization seems a bit unorganized and I'm a little upset that my entire travel time is 1hr and the tutor time is 1hr. Ick. I'm hoping I'll get a closer location soon. This is only my second session and it went better than my first. The first was too many kids trying to get out of homework. One-on-one is much better in my opinion. I really think one hour is a bit minimal and would want to try a little more. The kid I tutored today had a difficult time reading and if he was my student to tutor, I'd spend more time letting him sound everything out instead of reading it for him.

I've never really volunteered or do community service but now I'm really really wishing I did. I never did before because I never really knew / didn't really try to figure out how to get involved, nor did I know it was so important during your years in high school etc. This month alone I'm attempting to try and do stuff such as cleaning up at schools, and I'm trying to see if I can help out at the library. I'm not sure if I'll be able to achieve these in time, considering my college applications are almost due. emo But either way, its still a good thing to do eh? 3nodding

I use the United Way website, specifically for my area. There's a calendar full of stuff. AND they have a way for you to log your hours, an email gets sent directly to the director and validate your hours. Perfect for people that need that proof.

Care to elaborate? Animal shelter? in proper terms, the humane society. where volunteers and paid staff look after abandoned, and lost and found pets.
