The Nyota-Wasomaji. Mitifu had found herself a home here in this pack. No matter how big it was though, this Howler took herself very seriously and had yet to make any friends. Sure, she had an aquitence or two, but no one she chatted with just to chat with. All her connects had purpose and were forged to help both parties. There was no one she just hung out with, or even hunted with for fun.

It was funny, looking at her own past. The burnt orange colored dog had been from a relatively large, and close knit family. Her mother, Chenza and all her siblings had spent a lot of time together, but as an adolescent Mitifu had taken off on her own. She had been young and heastrong, eager to prove she could make it on her own and flourish, and she rightly had.

A soft sigh escaped her maw. But the expression of boredom soon left her face as her eyes lit up, catching the slithering of a snake nearby. The hunter instinct took over and she pounced, snapping her jaws at the snake, but missing as the snake quickly retreated into a hole in the ground. In dog like fashion, she stuck her nose in the hole and started trying to dig the snake up, mindlessly letting this task distract her.

The grass tickled her nose as she slowly lowered it towards the ground. Namid was trying to see how slow she could move her head before she touched the ground. So far, she's gone probably 30 minutes. Her neck strained with the effort, but she was so close. If she could accomplish this task, then she could do anything. At least, she'll have a base line for any other menial task she ever found herself in. She could say to herself, at least it's not as bad as that one time I slowly lowered my head to the ground.

Namid's concentration broke when some noise drew her ears. That slight lapse caused a muscle in her neck to twitch, sending her snout the rest of the way to the dirt. She collapsed all the way to join her head. Well, she didn't make it all the way, but at least she got that far. She'll have to figure out what caused the noise. That is, if she could work up enough energy to get up. Though, curiosity got the best of her and she soon found herself trotting in the direction of the noise.

What greeted her was another dog with her nose in a hole. Namid tilted her head, puzzled. Maybe something good was down there? She padded up to the other dog and stuck her face really close to the hole. She couldn't get her face down there as well, but at least she may see something.

Mitifu heard the other well before her personal bubble was breached, so the shock was not as bad as if the other had just jumped out at her. Large orange ears swiveled towards the other and eyes locked on her as she kept her nose buried in the hole, pausing for a moment to analyze the femme before her. After a quick look she assumed this other must also be from the Nyota-Wasomaji. What other wild dogs roamed so close to the caves anyways? No rogues she could think of.

After analyzing the situation Mitifu lifted her face from the dirt and peered at the other stiffly. "Hello there." She began in a quiet, stiff tone, matching her demeanor with her tone. It wasn't that she was unfriendly, but she was a bit... awkward I suppose you could say, around strangers. But now with her nose dislodged from the snake hole she could easily tell by the environmental smells of the other they were indeed from the same pack.

Okay, time to be polite and make friends, she thought with a certain kind of determination. She would not be thought of the one dog in the pack who was too serious and stiff to make friends with anyone. She only hoped this dog was not completely weird, odd or even crazy. Not even Mitifu could deal with that kind of creature. Someone who took herself so seriously had major problems socializing with those who followed the beat of their own drum, so to speak. Even though the other seemed to lack a sense of personal space and Mitifu wondered a bit about her mental state so far, she would at least try. If nothing else, it would be a good learning experience and hopefully she could at least learn how to interact with a different sort.

Practice makes perfect, right?

Her attention didn't falter from the hole. A blank, "Hi." passed through her lips as she continued to stare at the hole. Now that the other dog retreated from the hole, Namid could get a better look. She crouched down and inched slowly towards the opening. Though, maybe getting too close wasn't a good idea... but the other dog had her nose in, so it couldn't be too bad? Her brow followed in frustration. She was getting a bit impatient so she blurted, "What's in the hole?" Namid was more interested in the hole than the dog standing next to her.

Well, Namid did need to work on socializing. Her time spent with others usually revolved around small words and polite gestures. Something Namid was terrible at. Though, she could do small words, but not gestures. She still hasn't figured that one out since her normal mannerisms turned others off... So, to practice, Namid withdrew her face from the hole and spoke, "My name is Namid." Then turned back to her previous position. Asku would be proud of Namid for her words. Her tail wagged in agreement.

The orange female blinked as this other dog just stared at the hole, seemingly unaware Mitifu was even there for a moment. She watched quietly as the other decided to stick her nose into the hole and Mitifu found her self wondering what this dogs problem was. She shook the thought when asked what was in the hole. She had to back track a moment before looking back to the hole and frowning slightly, "Oh, it was just a snake I was trying to catch. I think it;s long gone by now." She said in a slightly distant voice. She hadn't been terribly hungry, so it wasn't a tragedy the snake escaped, but it had been more of, she was bored and needed something to busy herself with.

This other dog, Namid she heard her say, seemed to be even more socially awkward than she was. This would be an interesting interaction, especially since Mitifu was slightly surprised she had even gained the dogs attention from the hole long enough to state her name. "I'm Mitifu, it's nice to meet you." She replied stiffly as she continued to stare at the other as her attention remained fixated on the hole.

A bit of dirt trickled onto her snot. She took a few deep breathes in hopes of catching some kind of scent. However, earth and muck were the only things that greeted her. At the mention of a snake, Namid shot out of the whole faster than she thought she could move. She yelped "Snake?!" before retreating behind Mitifu, keeping her eye on the hole just in case it decided to pick that moment to slither out. Namid did not like snakes. They were too weird without legs. Plus, poison. She didn't want to take the chance of being bitten. Nope, nope, nope. Snakes were better dead.

Nervous because of the snake, her fur remained fluffed out. She took a couple tentative steps from behind Mitifu. "Are you done hunting it? We should go some place else." At this point, she would do anything to get out of this area. Even though Namid didn't know her personally, Mitifu would make a great protector at the moment considering she wasn't afraid of the snake. At least, that would give Namid enough time to dash away.
