Whoooo!
I just love agua frescas. Tonight I had orange and coconut. I do prefer tamarind and horchata more, but they didn't have those tonight at Chango's!
Anyone else like this type of drink?

I've never had anything of the kind ... what do they put in it? Is it alcoholic?
By the way, Jiggy, you avi is looking quite fetchingly bizarre today.

Stop making the eyes at me, I'll stop making the eys at you.[
When I first say the title I thought it said, "mmmmm agus freisin"... Which is the Irish for, "mmmmm and also". I was a tad confused and now I find it's merely a drink! <3 ... ]The thing that surprises me is that, I don't really want you to...

I've never heard of it either...
Is it like flavored sparkling water or something? I'm so confused!!

Hehe y'all are killing me! Not one taqueria near any of you. Pobrecitos! Where are your fruterias? Are there no barrios near you, no hispanic enclaves? If so, get thee hence unto them! biggrin
An agua fresca is usually a drink that's a little sweet and really refreshing. It's usually homemade, in large jars, and involves fresh fruit. Traditional flavors are tamarind, which is also used in Indian food, and is sweet and tart; jamaica, which is essentially rosehips/hibiscus; and horchata which is a cinnamon sugar and rice drink which tastes a bit like pure liquid rice pudding. heart
There are bottled versions with carbonation, too, which are really cheap and not as tasty. Jarritos makes a fun one. smile If you have any ethnic grocers near you and you like that sort of thing, you should try one.

I'll keep an eye out in the grocery next time I go. We do have a pretty substantial Hispanic population, but I've never noticed this on the menus of the places I frequent. Maybe I just haven't been looking, since I tend to go for the sangria.
