Daren thread his arm through the sleeve and was buttoning it one handed when Rachel's comment made him pause. "I-yeah, that was me, but i had a lot of help. i couldn't have done it alone." he thought about the little girl who'd lost her life for helping him and looked down "i'm not the one they should give the credit to. i don't deserve it." he'd even been given a medal and all kinds of honors and s**t that he didn't care about. none of it mattered. the reward money, everything he had been given that he could sell he did and it all went to taking care of those kids. he didn't want to publicity but if it kept the kids out of the lime light he'd accept it. "she said she wanted tea, what kind does she like?" he asked, putting his sling on and grabbing his wallet, "don't want her mad at me for getting the wrong flavor."

"Of course. I would have been surprised if you had done it alone." she commented, watching him fumble with his shirt as he thought of that time, no doubt. It wasn't hard to guess his thoughts. "I'm sure you don't deserve it, Aomine. Come on, sit down. I'm only going to be delving deeper. You are caring for my son." and took the bag from his bed, opening it and showing the large can of Arizona Tea. "Don't worry, I have everyone covered." and put it back, keeping the bag on the floor. "Taking good care of Timmy? How's he been?"

"I don't need you to wash me!"

"I'm your mother I'm allowed to wash you!"

There went his only option of escape, Daren curse silently and sat down on his own bed, the other occupied. "right, should have guessed you would be prepared." he had a hard time meeting her eyes, not because she was James' mother or because he was intimidated, but because she was a mother. plain and simple. more, she was the mother of someone who had been horribly abused and he just couldn't bring himself to look into her eyes. "James is dong really well. they think he should be out of here tomorrow morning so we were going to get him some clothes and then get him settled into his new house. We went outside today for a few hours and just enjoyed the autumn weather. he's been eating a good amount too, he'll probably be back to 100% in no time." he was nervous and rambling, so he forced himself to shut u[ she must think him an idiot for acting like this

Rachel smiled as she saw his brain work, knowing full well that he had no means to escape unless he hid in the bathroom and face Amanda or jumped out of the window. "My wife is picky, you learn to be prepared. And Timmy's still weak isn't he? Couldn't bring all of his favorites." and he wasn't looking at her while he explained, the ground must have seemed really interesting to him. "That's good, bad, but god. I feel like he should stay here for a bit longer to recuperate mentally." She murmured, nodding. "I'm glad he's eating, and the weather was good today so that's good for him as well. I'm just worried. He seems to lively for someone that was just abused, you know?" she moved some hair behind her ear, looking at the bathroom door. "I don't want him to break, I really don't. Maybe I'm paranoid but he seems far to lively for someone who had his world stripped from him." She sighed softly. "I hope he's crying, crying until he melts. He needs it."

"Get out!"

The smaller woman exited the bathroom, sleeves rolled up and hands wet. "Well, he never liked bath time as a child anyway. Where's my tea?" She asked, looking around for a towel, drying her hands on her lover's shirt when none could be found.

"Right here, darling."

Amanda eyed the large can, then to Daren, then back to the kind before gingerly taking it.

"I think he might be putting on a brave front. he does cry, but not as much as he needs to. we are working on that..." he glanced to the side, "I am hoping he will be able to recover faster mentally if he can live in a home with another and isn't hurt. i think-i mean, i hope i will be able to show him that it is ok to be himself and to stand on his own two feet. i kinda know what it's like to have the world suddenly drop out from under you so i might-be able to help him. he'll be getting counselling, of course, and that will help too." he rubbed the back of his neck and was grateful for the interruption when Amanda came out. "I'm afraid Miss Rachel had already gotten your drink, Miss Amanda. i'll get you one next time." he smiled at her, hoping she wasn't going to interrogate him too.

"You're lucky." she took the drink and sat down. "he was so embarrassed to be seen by me."

"Of course he is," Rachel said, kissing the smaller woman's head. "I'd be surprised if he let anyone see him naked. he still has a lot of nasty scars." and glanced at Daren when she said this. The officer had scars that she wanted to question.

"Yea, I suppose." and sipped her tea. "he's nearly washed, he just started to panic. Poor Timmy." and looked at Daren again as though debating what to ask first. She just stared at tapped the aluminum can. Tap. Tap. Tap. "why is it-" a loud crash and a shriek of pain came from the bathroom, women standing up and Rachel moving first, opening the door. "Timothy!"

the man was curled up tightly on the wet floor, the towel he tried to reach having fallen just a foot away from him. "Daren pick him up" Rachel ordered, grabbing the towel.

"Baby, Baby what happened? You should have called." Amanda said as Rachel covered the man best she could.

Daren took one look and grabbed one of the sheets from the bed before moving into the bathroom. he moved the two women aside as gently as he could and threw the sheet over James, covering him completely, save for hsi head, before he lifted him up and took his out of the bathroom. "here we are, you're ok, James. We've got you." he put the still wet man down onto his own bed so that James' bed would remain dry and carefully sat him down. "alright, i need you to tell me what happened and where it hurts." he instructed clearly, ignoring James' moms and focusing on the man. "i'm going to check your to see if you broke anything, ok? if something hurts i need you to tell me." he moved to James' legs, but felt through the cloth fo the sheet, "it's ok, James. i'm not going to hurt you, i just want to make sure you are ok. do you believe that i am not going to hurt you, James?"

Timothy very quickly tried to shove Daren away as he was lifted, whimpering and trying to escape before he was placed on the bed, trying to curl up but Rachel hand the boy down on one side, Amanda on the other.

"He's just making sure you're healthy, baby. We need to call a nurse."

"Please don't call a nurse." the man moaned. "Anything but." he gave a gasp of pain as the man's hands brushed his right hip, the main impacted area of his fall aside from his arm and head. "Stop it! it hurts stop it!" and tried to move again, his mother's doing very good in keeping him down.

"Where's that nurse button?" Amanda demanded. "Aomine isn't a doctor! he needs to be checked out!" and found it, pressing the button repeatedly.

Daren frowned, "I know what i'm doing-" his head shot up, "no, don't press the-" but it was too late and he swore under his breath, knowing exactly who was going to answer the call. "James, James we aren't going to hurt you. we want to help you feel better, ok?"

"Need me so soon, darlings?" Kathy simpered as she walked into the room, but she stopped in the doorway at what she was seeing. "Oh my, doesn't this look naughty." but the two women were older and the poor boy looked like he was in pain not to mention panicking. "Now, now, how about we all stop pinning him down and let me have a look, hmm?" she sauntered over, brushing past the women m with just a hint of rudeness. she didn't know who they thought they were, but these were her new play things and they needed to back off. "now, what's the problem, baby doll?" she asked when she finally reached the boy's head. "you switched beds, did you hurt yourself?"

Rachel and Amanda heard this sickingly sweet voice, but it was Rachel who glared at the red-head as she mentioned how naughty it looked. Was she serious? She worked here?

"I don't know what happened." Amanda said quickly. "He was in the bath but then we heard him scream and he was on the ground, he must have fallen." She explained in Timothy's place.

The man was still curled up but now trying to shift away from this nurse. "Pain. Hip." he said through grit teeth.

"Did he just bruise himself or did he fracture it?" Rachel asked, being somewhat more demanding then needed.

Kathy batted the cop's hands away and moved the sheet back without any care for the boy's privacy. actually she wanted to see as much of him as she could and this was the perfect chance to do just that. "Now don't worry, dear. i'm just seeing if you broke anything." her long fingers began to feel and prob about the already forming bruise. "nothing broken that i can feel, you just have a nice bruise where you fell. it might be there for a while, but since you will be in a wheel chair anyways it will have time to heal. do you want me to kiss it better?"

Daren had enough, "No. he would not, and if you keep acting this way i will be filing charges for sexual harassment. I'm a damned cop, woman. you think i don't know exactly what you are doing. thank you for your help, but kindly escort yourself from the room." he was standing up to his full height, having pulled the power and authority of a police officer and detective around him like a shield of armor.

Just his voice was enough to get Kathy all hot and bothered, but the way he was standing, his demeanor, just everything about him made her want to push him down and have her way with him. but for now she must behave...and find another doctor. "very well, lovey. i'll get him some pain meds for that. until next time." she smirked at the two women and sauntered out.

Daren let out a long breath when she finally left and turned to James. "will you let me help you dry off and dress, James?"

Timothy was not pleased through his haze of pain, grasping at the sheets to try and keep them on. The nurse would have none of it, very easily lifting them before pressing at the bruise, making him jerk away from her.

"What kind of nurse are you?" Rachel demanded "Did you get your license from a Cracker Jack box? Get your slutty a** out of here and bring back someone who can do your job properly!"

"I'll give her some pain." Amanda said. "So if she comes back in here I need you to blink for a really long time, Aomine."

Rachel watched the officer interact with her son, Timothy having tried to curl up before stopping and glancing back.

"Just... Just leave my hips alone."

Did he cry? He trusted Aomine it seemed. "Well then let me start unpacking our lunch."

Daren looked at the two women and nodded, "that would be alright. thanks." he smiled before nodding to James, "don't worry, i'll avoid them, ok? just keep the sheet around your hips, ok?" He grabbed a towel and put the bed into a sitting position before getting to work on gently drying James' top. he got the covering and helped James put it on before moving lower. "i'm going to dry off your legs and then move you to your bed, ok? don't worry, i'm not going to touch your hips, ok?" he smiled and dried James' legs just as carefully as he had James' torso. when he finished he moved to James' side, "Alright, i'm going to pick you up now. you're covered so leave the sheet here. we don't want to get your bed wet, right?" he waited for James to be ready before carefully lifting and moving him over. "there, better?"

Rachel got to work on pulling out the Tupperware from the bag, setting it on the nearby trays.

Timothy kept his jaw clenched, pain still rolling from the critical point on his hip. He should have said no, eyes closing as the towel gently moved across his skin., hands clenched on the sheet around his waist. How did he get himself into these situations? Where was that pain medicine? Could he just sleep for the rest of the day? At Daren's words he just nodded, looking toward his mother who was glaring at Aomine's back the entire time. He stared at her until the towel ran up his inner thigh and he tensed, eyes shutting again quickly while the mind worked to create an illusion. He was fine, he was just in a jungle and the shrubbery was high, or the leaves. Jungles didn't have shrubs did they?

"Huh?" he opened his eyes, finding himself on his own proper bed. "Yea, yes thank you." He'd been put under his own blanket as well before the wet sheet was removed.

"Look!" Amanda grabbed hold of Aomine's beltloops and pulled him way from the bed only to replace him. "See? I made us cucumber sandwiches along with fruit cocktail. Then for dessert it's jello and as a drink we bought the SoBe stuff that you liked so much. I brought the Pina Colada flavored one for you!"

Timothy took the sandwich and lifted the bread. "Cucumber sandwich?"

"Yes!"

He continued to stare at the insides, debating whether he should tell her that this was not cucumber but pepperoni instead. Really, she couldn't even make cereal properly. He just smiled and placed the bread back before taking a bite. "It's good."

"Yay! You don't eat." She said toward Daren. "Touching my son like that, you're as bad as the nurse."

"Amanda you made him a sandwich too." Rachel pointed out, handing it over.

Daren shook his head, "no worries, let me know if i can help you with anything, ok?" he probably wouldn't have moved very far with just Amanda pulling on the loops of his belt, but he let her move him and quickly got out of the way. he moved to stand off to the side, not sure what to do. he'd meant to work out and then shower while James' moms were visiting, but without that excuse to avoid them. "huh-" he looked at Amanda and smiled, "i guess i shall have to go out to eat." but then Rachel pointed out there was a sandwich for him and he almost groaned. there goes another excuse out the window. he liked them, he really did, but he wanted James to have time alone with the women since it had been so long since they had been together. "Well, it's up to the cook to decide who gets to eat their creations."
