He smiles, taking a sip of the water. "It's great, Arianna. Thank you." He takes a few bites of fruit, looking up at the sky.

She smiled. "You're welcome." Brendon began to stir in the sling and he woke with a yawn. He looked up at his parents tranquilly.

Alek looked over at the baby at the sound of his yawn. "Good morning, Brendon," he said with a faint smile.

Arianna picked him up out of the swing and kissed his forehead. "Morning," she whispered to the baby, who blinked at them both in response.

Alek sighs. "I just noticed, he's awake now so that means I'm not sure how much sleep the two of us will actually be getting."

She groaned and slumped against Alek's side. "Ugh, you're right." Brendon cooed.

Alek laughs lightly. "He's lucky he's a cute kid." He leans his head on Arianna's.

"He is," she agreed, smiling at the baby. Then she added, "He gets it from his father."

He grins and looks at the boy. "That's right, isn't it Brendon?"

Brendon smiled toothlessly up at his parents.

Alek lets out a breath and nods. "Do you mind if I sleep a bit then, Arianna?"

She shook her head. "No, go right ahead. I'll pass out too when he'll let me."

Several days later they reached the next town. This one was a lot smaller and a bit less affluent.

Alek has his arm in a sling made of his jacket and it was wrapped in cloth they washed from time to time. His arm itself was always burning, but the wound itself was closing up. He walked with Arianna and Brendon and he let out a relieved sigh with a faint smile when he spotted the clinic up ahead.

Brendon was in Arianna's arms. She smiled with relief and quickened her step when they saw the clinic, rushing to get inside.

Alek opened the door with his good hand, leaning on it to keep it open for Arianna and Bren. The air inside the office was that cool type.
