This is a private roleplay between Rainbow and Treble. Please do not post without permission!

Where: Training area in the Academy
When: Midday
Why: Practicing hand-to-hand combat!

PostPosted: Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:13 pm
Rainbow was not the best at hand-to-hand combat, and she would be the first to admit this. Grumpily. Humiliated. But admit it she would, and then she would perk up and ask for help. Unwittingly, some poor fool might agree to help her. After all, she was cute and cheerful looking and shy, so why not?

The reason why was that what Rainbow lacked in strength, she made up for in determination. So while her victims thought about what they'd done, they'd also have to fend off a furiously determined girl punching and kicking with all her might. Rainbow didn't play nice. Rainbow played to win. And Rainbow could change her colours like a chameleon. It was difficult to punch what you could barely see, and even harder when what you could barely see had a uniform with heels. Sharp heels.

Right now, Rainbow had that same look of steely determination on her face as she paced to the other side of the room. "Okay, I'm ready, Treble! First one to drop loses. One..."

"Two..."

"Three!!"

Rainbow changed colours and vanished into her surroundings, launching herself to the other side of the room for a sneak attack from behind. Theo was in for a beating, if she could help it. Her competition switched was flipped on.

As soon as Rainbow changed her color Theo regretted this immensely. This was possibly the worst possible decision he had ever made in the history of forever aside from that time he thought pizza with gummi bears on it would be cool. It wasn't. It just wasn't.

She was fast, but Theo was also fast. And although he could not see her, he could definitely hear the 'CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK' of the heels she was wearing as the echoed behind him. Being invisible didn't matter if you couldn't be quiet in the process. Thankfully he had soft soled shoes, so if he ever had to sneak around (not that he didn't sneak around for shits and giggles already) he wouldn't be heard like she would.

"NOPE," He yelled as he took off from his place and made a dash for the closest wall of the room. If she was going to be invisible, he was going to try and force her to come at him from the front. "You ain't gettin' me t-t-that way!"

He hated fighting, but this was not the type of fighting he was used to. His only experience with fighting was when he was keeping himself from being beaten up and bullied. Granted, sparring was also being beaten up, but he didn't hate the person and he doubted Rainbow wanted his existence ended.

Rainbow paused as Theo moved away from her and there was a moment where the room was quiet as she thought. "How did you know?" her voice called out in frustration, and if Theo squinted at the place it came from, he could see a slightly warped part of the room where Rainbow couldn't match the colours quite right.

Barely waiting for a reply, there was a CLACKACLACKACLACKACLACK as she did what Theo wanted after all, attempted to attack him from the front, but this time, something was different. As she moved, the colours in the room began to change, shifting into different and vaguely psychedelic patterns as an attempt to distract Theo from evading her. However, she could only change the colours of parts of the room she could see, so while no colours changed behind her, colours blobbed in and out of sight on random spots in front of her, one even directly beneath Theo's feet. Finally, as she came closer, she tried to make the colours even more distracting, in neons and alarming shapes as she swung her foot into the air for a kick aimed at his stomach.

It was hard not to make a kung-fu noise like in the movies. She bit her lip. Serious! She had to be serious! He was finding ways to dodge her, and she had to get better at this so she could stop him from doing that.

Poor, poor Theo. He had such a full-proof plan and suddenly it was going to backfire and explode in his face in a glorious display of colors and a really sharp kick to his gut by some girl's heels. Heels should not come that sharp.

He heard the clacking of Rainbow's shoes come at him like he expected. He managed to lure her to him, and he was going to prepare himself for this. Song, song, he needed a song. What was the point of memorizing hundreds of lyrics and melodies when you couldn't find one to use off the top of your head?

In his panic he missed Rainbow's little flicker in color, but he certainly did not miss the sudden onslaught of color change in front of him. Blobs of colors shifting in and out of his line of sight began to make him feel ill, which for him was odd as he didn't even get seasick.

His eyes kept focusing funny in and out and when he finally managed to make it stop acting like like fighting children he felt the kick. Pain, such sudden and intense pain was what he felt when Rainbow's heeled boot made contact with his stomach. He buckled almost instantly, letting out a really strained groan.

"What...," He began, trying to find words that were just not wanting to come, "What the.... hell, girl."

Pain. Pain and anger.

"Oh, that worked really well," was the pleased reply from approximately nowhere. Rainbow blinked back into sight briefly, let out a cry of surprise, and promptly colour shifted again. "Let's try another tactic."

She came back into sight fully, but the relief that this might have afforded Treble was short lived, as the psychedelic and dizzying colours shifted from the room to her body, giving the general effect that he was suddenly fighting a kaleidoscope. Rainbow leapt into attack mode without further ado, since, after all, the rules had been set! First to fall would lose. Stopping to ask Treble if he was okay would be useless if she was really fighting him, and it would just be embarrassing for his dignity. She swayed her body back and forth as erratically and unpredictably as possible to try to further dizzy him while she attacked, but found that the sudden movements made her dizzy, too. The rainbow rookie gulped, fighting back sudden waves of nausea, and slowed down slightly as she advanced.

Still, Treble was not putting up much of a fight, she noticed. She wondered why, especially since he was supposed to be her level, and suddenly worried that maybe he was patronizing her. Her grandpa had always told her that boys were supposed to go easier on girls. She didn't want people to go easier on her though! She was briefly frustrated, exclaiming, "Don't hold back, hit me with everything you've got! I want to get better at fighting!"

Another tactic? Theo thought to himself as Rainbow's pleased words sunk into his mind, as he tried to unfurl himself. Why don't we see if my major organs are ok first? This one is crazy.

Of course he never would have said that out loud. He'd probably suffer worse than heels to his stomach. They'd probably be aimed at other parts of his body, far more sensitive parts of his body.

When he managed to finally uncurl himself from himself he heard Rainbow's foot steps come at him again. He did not want to let this happen once more and as she came towards him he noticed her steps slow, and than she made her frustrated whine about him going easy on her. He had not, till this point, gone easy on her. Yes, he had not used his powers on her, but that was because he didn't want to blow her to smithereens. However, she was being very insistent he not treat her with kid gloves, so... he'd oblige.

"I want to get better at falling!" Theo taunted, though it was not in his own voice. It had been in Rainbow's. One of Theo's abilities, and one he found extremely useful when he wanted to be bothersome to someone, was his ability to mimic voices. It really grated on people when you replied to them in their voice.

"I want people to take me seriously, but nobody does!" He continued, trying to make her frustrated and unfocused. The more she messed up, the easier it would be for him to catch her... than rip off those boots and possibly beat her with them before he took them outside and lit them on fire.

Rainbow gasped. "That's so rude!!" she exclaimed, furiously aiming another kick at his shins. "I don't sound like that at all!" A brief moment of panic crossed her face. Did she?? She shook her head, no getting distracted, and blended into the scenery again, this time making rainbow footsteps appear on the ground coming towards him from different directions, none of which were the direction she was actually approaching him from.

However, she was far too unnerved by his taunting, and as it caught her mind again, she briefly flashed back into sight before she caught herself. It wasn't until she looked down at her feet that she caught herself, and with an "Oh no!" she vanished again. She wasn't good with bullying and teasing, and it threw her off guard. He didn't mean it, right? Right?? She waited a bit, continuing to send the colour-steps towards him on the floor, then tried to approach him again, aiming a punch this time, right at the jaw where his words were coming from. If this was going to affect her performance, she had to try to stop the problem. That was a good tactic, she thought proudly. Definitely something her grandpa would suggest!

Unfortunately, Rainbow was already pretty bad at combat, and her punches were far weaker than her kicks. (Luckily for Treble, she didn't wear heeled gloves, nor could she kick high enough to kick people in the face.) Whether or not it would actually hurt her or him if it connected was up in the air.

Theo winced again when Rainbow's boot made contact with his shin, but at least it wasn't his stomach. He had a feeling that tomorrow he'd be visiting the infirmary to make sure he wasn't bruised on the inside, because he could already tell he was bruising on the outside.

Theo couldn't help but grin through the pain. She really seemed riled up by hearing herself talk. He wondered for a brief moment if she thought she sounded differently, maybe she thought she sounded deeper? More womanly? Less like a girl? He didn't know, but deep down inside where his condensed nugget of bastardry was, he was enjoying it a little.

Theo noticed the rainbow colored feet, but he also heard her boots clacking once more. Not as loudly as they had been when she was running behind him and toward him, but he could tell they weren't coming from the direction of the rainbow foot prints. He watched her and although her did notice her phase back in he said nothing. If he made a noise, she'd notice and phase back out anyway.

Regardless, she did notice and phased back out, trying once again after a time to get him with the colored footsteps. I can still hear you crazy heel girl. He thought to himself. He listened very carefully for which way the footsteps were coming from, his eyes darting back and forth as if he was searching for her. If he made her think he didn't know, than he had the opportunity to carry out his plan.

It was only a few brief moments before the steps stopped and he knew where she was. As Rainbow pulled back to punch him in the face, he lunged forward to tackle her, getting grazed on the cheek in the process, "You're done!"

Rainbow shrieked in surprise as Treble tackled her, turning visible and tumbling to the ground. "Okay, okay! You win!" she gasped, getting up woozily and brushing herself off.

"How could you tell?" she asked him curiously, sounding slightly put out. "I thought the footsteps thing was awfully clever..." Still, on the whole, Rainbow didn't seem too bitter about her loss, the only real disappointment being that she had failed. "I'll do better next time," she remarked firmly. "Thank you for the learning experience! You know, for some reason, hardly anyone wants to train with me." Her tone was the tone of a girl who was totally unaware of the concept of the term 'ruthless maniac,' and it was difficult to hate her when she was sounding so earnest about improving and good sportsmanship, but it was likely made easier by the fact that just moments earlier she had been kicking Treble in the shins with high heeled boots.

"Anyway!" she said primly, regaining her balance after Treble's surprise tackle, "Best out of two later?" She gave him her most enthusiastic grin and leaned down to give him a hand up, not even waiting for a reply. "I'll look forward to it!"
