I've decided I can get away with naming this character Florentine if he doesn't let people call him that. Because who would let people call them Florentine, especially a young man in a modern setting? Which means I have to come up with a nickname for him to go by for most of the book. I've already rejected "Suave", "Smarmy", "Prince", and "Silvertongue" because most people wouldn't allow themselves to be called that. (no offense, Prince) "Silvertongue" would work fine, if it were in a fantasy setting, but if it were a fantasy setting Any time you're this close to naming a character "Suave" you know you're in trouble.
So I ask you, if you had a friend who was rich, blond, handsome, kind of a d**k but able to talk his way in or out of anything, what would you call him?
Also considering changing his last name. It's currently Brendon, but it might be changed to Prince. Or a last name meaning Prince, if I can ever find a site that lets me search last names by meanings. Look, he was hidden by some none-to-creative fairies, and until then his family name was Charming.

I like the "goes by his last name Brendon" idea, it seems to be the most popular method of avoiding the usage of cheesy or inconvenient first names.

So... Brendon, Prince, Kingson, Kingston, or Tully would all work as a last name, and they all mean the same thing, and they could work as the used name.
