Notes and Intro

Tier 1 - Zero Bot Army (beaten 3 times) Roll Successes: 10; Failures: 4
The most loathsome, bumbling, grayscale army to ever roam the land of Gaia. Their shady, Tinman gone bad look inspires more fear than their monochrome axe. Were it not for their sheer numbers, you would quickly grow bored of their rather lacking skills.
Stats:
AC - 10
HP - 40

Tier 2 - Zero Zombie Army (beaten 1 time) Roll Successes: 8; Failures: 16
If you thought the Zero Bot Army was bad, you've obviously never met a Zero Zombie. This lifeless husk of a human being is no more skilled than their bot counterparts. You would think that a creature that only eats brains all day long would be a bit brighter, but hey, beggars can't be choosers.
Stats:
AC - 13
HP - 60

Tier 3 - Zero Omega (beaten 1 time) Roll Successes: 7; Failures: 13
And now you have the vile beast himself. No one knows how someone so bumbling and unimpressive made it to be the leader of an army. All we know is that he's evil, he's mean, and he wants to take your sweets. Now kick his butt!
Stats
AC - 16
HP - 70

RP Introduction
DD was not having the best holiday possible. In fact, it was one of the worst. Along with the stress of her final semester of classes, all the papers and exams piling up at the very end, a struggle to find work after graduation, preparations to move in with her boyfriend several states away, discouragements from parents and friends, and her uncle pressuring her to walk at graduation despite her longing not to, after eight long years, Gaia had been taken away from her as well. Her 2oo3 account had been banned for a reason the staff she had spoken to was unable to prove beyond certainty. Despite that, it was not being returned, leaving the girl to feel nothing but frustration and anger each time she visited the site. After eight years, her homepage switched to something else and she struggled to avoid the source of such bitter feelings.

However, habits die hard, especially ones that have lasted for so long. She sought alternatives in which to place her time. She turned to National Novel Writing Month, determined to complete it and keep herself away from Gaia, which had become a source of strife and trouble. But November has come and gone, and with it the contest, leaving her again uncertain of where to pass her time online. She drifted back to Gaia, to talk with friends she's had for years, and wishfully hope for the return of her account once more.

In her moping, she found the Modmas event. Recalling her battles from the year before, she decided to give it another go. At the very least she could try and gather some of her lost riches and resume her plan to leave the site with a huge and wonderful art contest, instead of with a shameful false banning. At the very least she could work on her writing in preparation of finalizing her novel for publishing. So she sat down and waited for the fun to begin.
-----
She had heard some of the details surrounding the latest Christmas disaster. Something about a disgruntled mod removing all the sweets so that Santa's sleigh wouldn't be able to run. She distinctly remembered that his sleigh had run on cheer before. Or had that been the Overseer and Sentinel's Christmas bathtub? Oh well, everything ran together in the end. It was hard to keep track.

The young woman crossed the kitchen to her fridge and confirmed that the worst had happened. Her mountain dew supply was gone, and the pies and brownies her mother had just baked had vanished before a single bite could be taken. Now this just wouldn't do. When one was sad about a loss, they liked to be able to dig into comfort foods and the like. With a house and potential world void of sweets, such actions weren't possible. She had to do something.

[This story is meant to be humorous. Please, read on!]

I would appreciated it if nobody posted in here except for me. Thanks.

She snatched up her iPod Touch, pulled on her jacket, and headed outside. It wasn't that cold. Unlike where she intended to move, her current home rarely received any snow. She huffed out a sigh and wasn't even able to see her breath trickle out through the air. She hardly even needed a coat at all. She stood on the driveway for a moment, staring around with eyes squinting through the darkness. Then, something glinted in the moonlight to her left. She darted out of the way, and saw a singe mark left on the sidewalk where she had stood. "Hey, my mom just fixed those!" she cried.

Standing before her was a small army. Marching in step, they made their way down the street, a couple veering off toward her but most continuing on their way. She pursed her lips in a frown and bowed her head over the iPod she held. Turning it sideways, she selected an app and began typing away at the screen that popped up.

"A young man in his early twenties appears in a flash of light, standing in bewilderment in the middle of the driveway. He has shaggy dark hair that hangs lightly in his silver eyes, and long horns that jut upwards from his hair. His skin is tan and he wears loose black clothing embedded with silver designs that matched his glistening eyes. A pair of leathery wings expand from his back, preparing him for nimble dodging if necessary, while a slender black tail flicks about behind him, tipped with a diamond shape. For weapons, his claws are sharp and his canines lengthened into lethal fangs. Beneath his eyes are silver markings etched directly into his skin like a tattoo."

DD pressed submit on the small device and lowered her head, eyes squeezed shut. Seconds later, a flash of light illuminated the side of her house, drawing more attention from the robotic army. A man had appeared in her driveway, matching the description she had typed into her iPod down to the last detail. He looked around himself, staring blankly at the robotic menaces and then the girl who was watching him with an accomplished smile.

"What is this?" he hissed out in anger. "Where am I?"

"I called you here. Now... sick 'em," DD replied, pointing a small hand toward the passing hoard.

"...why? Who are you?"

"Oh... they don't even seem to care that you're here. Just a second..." She raised a hand up, cupping it around her lips. "That man there, he sure has a lot of candy and sweets with him! Thank you so much for bringing me so many cakes and cookies! They look so yummy!"

The army's heads turned all at once, dead grey eyes staring at the winged man. His shoulders had slouched as he stared at the girl in disbelief. "What even is this?"

"Oh no! They're going to take your sweets away if you don't do something! Watch out!" she continued, before her tone sharply increased in urgency. "No, seriously, WATCH OUT!"

"AUGH!" the man bellowed, as two robots leaped onto him at once, restraining him with metal arms.

"You'd better kill them before they kill you, don't you think?" DD called once more, the urgency already faded from her tone, leaving her sounding oddly casual as she fiddled with her electronic device.

"Why is this happening?!" the man roared, flexing his arms and throwing them outwards, sending the two flying away from him to skid over the yard. But three more took their places, and he thrashed out, his claws scratching over metal with a painful sound.

"Oh... I forgot you don't use real weapons. Probably a bad move on my part..." DD mused to herself. "Well, just do your best!"

"UGGH!" He flailed about, sending robots flying in all directions, but each time he disposed of some, more filed in to fill their spot.

"This is kind of pathetic," DD commented, resisting the urge to yawn. "Yeah, I definitely should have called in the help of someone else. You just happened to be on the forefront of my mind since your part of the story especially isn't finished yet."

"What are you talking about, you useless brat? You're the one who isn't doing anything!" the man shouted, as he swung his fist into another robot. It shattered, sending metal fragments in all directions.

"Brat? Excuse me, but I'm older- ...oh wait, how old did I make you again? We might be around the same. I don't think I ever really specified that." She lowered her head and soon became lost in soft mutterings under her breath.

The man, meanwhile, was left to fend for himself with the seemingly endless army ever surrounding and piling upon him. "Made me? What the hell are you talking about?" he repeated, his irritation ever growing. But his shouts turned to a gurgled grunt as he was suddenly leaped upon, heavy metal bodies flattening his to the ground. He wriggled about helplessly, mouth spewing out every curse known to man and demon. His head jerked, and he didn't account for the sharpened horns it sported. They jabbed through the chest of one of the machines and it promptly exploded, causing a chain reaction with the rest. DD calmly stepped to the side and ducked behind a tree as shrapnel embedded itself into the bark on the other side. After a moment, she peeked around it, only to come face to face with a seething demon. He reached out and hauled her unceremoniously from her feet by the collar of her shirt. His own clothing was charred and ripped in several places, but he himself seemed mostly fine. Well, except for the mounting anger. "Who. Are. You."

"Oh, hi. That was pretty impressive, I guess. You can call me DD, though that obviously isn't my real name. My world is in a bit of a dilemma right now so I thought I'd summon you for a bit of help."

"Summon?"

"Yeah. You see, I wrote a book and you're one of the main characters, so I think that means you pretty much have to do what I say, since I made you and all. Understand?"

He stared at her blankly for a few seconds. "...no. No, I don't understand."

"Gosh, you're even more dense in real life than I intended you to be. That is impressive."

"Wh... what? Do you want to die?!" he roared, shaking her about in the air.

"N-not really," she stuttered, head flopping about on her neck. "But we b-both might if you d-don't turn a-around s-soon..."

"What are you talking about?! Don't try to distract me to save yourself! Oof-" He ended in a grunt as he was sent falling forward by a metal foot to the back. DD was tossed forward as well. She hit the grass with a soft thump, rolled to her knees, and scurried quickly back behind her tree.

"Hurry and like, kill them and stuff," DD called out from her pitiful hiding spot, on her feet again and peering around the tree.

The man was face down in the grass, a metal humanoid standing upon his back like a newly claimed piece of land. Or perhaps closer to the Captain Morgan pose. Either way, the unstable one-legged position caused it to topple easily back and off when the man pushed himself roughly upwards again. "What is going on? Just what the hell is going on here?!"

"You should watch your language, by the way," DD piped up again. "This site is for little kiddies, so you can't talk like you would in my book."

"I'm not from your stupid book!" He cut off to duck under a laser that went whizzing over his head.

"Gee, that one was close. You should pay more attention."

"Shut up!" But, she was right. He turned in time to swerve around another attack. This time it was a metal fist that grazed his chin as he rocked back out of the way. The tucked in dark wings suddenly spread wide and hoisted him up into the air. He hovered there, surveying the robot infested yard from the new vantage point. "Well, I don't see any wings on you, stupid human," he said mockingly. "Guess you're out of luck."

"What? Are you leaving? Oh... no good." DD sighed as she felt metal fingers snatching her up and pulling her into the crowd. She did nothing except make sure to shield the iPod against her chest. "So you should do something, don't you think?"

"Yeah? And why is that?"

"Because I haven't finished your story yet. You'll be stuck in fiction limbo forever, or however that works."

"I told you, I'm not part of a stupid boo-"

"I'll give you a cool scar," she cut in, feeling her first sense of urgency as her feet lifted from the ground.

"...what? Why would I want a-?"

"Rachel will like it. Scars are mysterious. Rugged. Cool."

"..." The man stared down at her, growled low under his breath, and suddenly soared downwards and snatched the girl from the fumbling mechanical hoard. "It... it had better be amazing."

"It will be, promise. Now, defeat these guys. They're kind of annoying."

"What am I supposed to do with you then? You seem even more useless than she was," he mumbled to himself, silver eyes scanning their surroundings once more. He hesitated, and then his face lit up with a mischievous little grin that revealed his sharpened fangs. "Got it." Without asking, he drifted toward the very top of one of the nearby pine trees and balanced the girl rather precariously upon one of the brittle branches that made up this particular type of tree.

"...just make sure you beat them before this branch snaps," DD grumbled, trying to mask the sudden fear she felt. But she wasn't that fond of heights, and she quickly shoved the iPod deep into her pocket before curling her arms tightly around the trunk of the tree. Briefly secure, she settled down to wait.

Ignoring her, the young man dove downwards and into the crowd, sending flying scraps of metal in all directions as he passed as a whirling blur of claws and fangs. He really was at a disadvantage without any weapon, but that just wasn't his style.

The young man continued his terrifying assault, displaying just what powers a Lumentan could hold, weapon or not. Meanwhile, DD sat in the upper branches of the flimsy pine tree, praying that it wouldn't break before he was finished. Her prayers were not answered. She supposed that was in part because she wasn't particularly religious. Maybe it was a sign she should begin.

She heard a series of small creaking snaps and pops, and then a loud, splitting crack as the thin branch she sat straddling suddenly gave way. Her arms slid painfully against rough bark, prompting her to let go and proceed to fall from the branches. Lacking any form of elegance, she tumbled down upon lower branches, which tossed her about mercilessly. "VIRZIEL! she shrilled out.

The man's head jerked upwards, his eyes widening as he saw the girl who claimed to have created him go bouncing down the tree from limb to limb. He crushed the metal hand of the robot he'd been grappling with, and launched himself into the sky with a mighty thrust of his wings. He rocketed toward her, and snatched the girl up in his arms seconds before she reached the ground. "Are you oka-"

"Oh god, oh god, please be alright..." she fretted to herself, ignoring his inquiry as she dug into her pocket. She pulled out an iPod, lightly scratched but seemingly fine. "Oh, thank goodness."

Virziel blinked dumbly at her. "What? No thank you?" he muttered after a pause.

"Oh, right. As a reward, here's this." She lowered her head over the device and began to write.

"Suddenly, there was a bright flash of light. Virziel's arm outstretches, and into his hand falls a small device with a pin and a trigger. It is a grenade."

Reading over her shoulder, the man's nose wrinkled into a scowl. "What is that thing? Why does it say I'm going to-?"

Again, he was cut off as a sudden flash of light appeared beside them. He squeezed his eyes shut and turned away, but he felt his arm moving as if on its own, reaching out toward thin air. Then, materializing just in time to fall into his palm, a small ovular object appeared. His fingers curled around it before his head turned back, eyes widening to stare down at it. Then his gaze promptly began to jump between the object and the iPod. On the screen, the written submission had turned into a popup message that read "Request registered. Enjoy!" "Wha... what the hell is this!?"

"I told you to watch your language. Now, see that pin at the end? Pull it out and quickly throw it into the center of the robots."

"Wha?"

"Do it. Come on now. It's a bomb, so don't miss."

"Bomb?!" He quickly obeyed, anxious to be rid of it. He jerked out the pin and threw it hard into the mass of the army. Then he readjusted his grasp on the odd girl and soared higher into the air, ducking his head as he felt the rush of heat from the explosion behind him.

Looking back, he saw a smoldering black mark upon the driveway. Strewn across that and the surrounding yard were metallic pieces of the army, rendered useless and glinting in the moonlight. Peeking over his shoulder, a smile appeared on DD's face. "...cool."

"...cool," he echoed after a pause, still surveying the wreckage with a dumbfounded expression. "Cool? After that, all you have to say is cool?!"

"Yeah. It was cool, right? Why are you freaking out?"

"Why am I-?!" he started, seconds away from throttling the strange girl. "Just what is this thing? Where am I? What is going on?!"

"Hrm. Well, this is my iPod Touch. I installed an app that brings whatever I describe to life. Pretty cool, right?"

"Wha..?"

"Yeah. Say I want a piece of cake. All I do is..." She lowered her head, turned the device sideways, and began clicking away with her thumbs as the pair continued to hover in the air.

"A small white plate appeared in DD's waiting hands. Upon it sat a scrumptious piece of chocolate cake with vanilla icing piled high and littered with sprinkles of blue. A fork sat neatly on the side."

She held out her hands after pocketing the iPod, waited a few seconds, and then smiled mischievously to herself at the sight of Virziel's face. A plate of cake had appeared in her hands, and his jaw had dropped open a second after. "Neat, huh?"

"Wh... why would you waste that on cake?"

DD's smile slipped into a pout. "This was just an example... Ah-" She jumped as a laser beam shot through the cake, leaving a crispy hole in the interior. "Oh... I forgot those things are here to steal sweets or something. I think I just called more."

"What? You have got to be kidding me!" Virziel exclaimed. "I should just throw you to them and get out of here!"

"But then how will you get back home? And who will give you an awesomely perfect scar for Rachel to fawn over?"

She felt his grip stiffen in silent anger, but he controlled himself and exhaled a deep breath, swerving to the side a second after to dodge another shot.

"These ones seem a little more high tech. Need some back up?"

"No, I don't need any back up! Ugh, where to put you so you don't get in the way..." His eyes scanned the area, and landed upon the two story house nearby. He hesitated, then slowly drifted over and plopped her down on a very steeply slanted roof. The girl stiffened, her smile gone entirely. He just smirked. "Don't get into any trouble, okay? I'll take care of these guys, no problem." With that, and ignoring whatever she'd been about to say in protest, he turned and went flying down toward the newly forming crowd of enemies. One was separate from the rest, so he aimed himself toward it, ready to rip it apart upon collision. Instead, the robot side-stepped his attacked, and swung its heavy metal arm down as he passed. Virziel thudded into the ground with a coughing hack.

"...I knew you'd need back up." DD mumbled to herself and while struggling not to slide from the roof, began typing once more.

"Behind the house, another flash of light appears, this one not drawing the attention of anyone else around. A man appears with long silver hair that falls down his back between two bright feathered wings. Each white feather is arranged perfectly neat among the rest. He hears the commotion around the other side of the house, and soars in to investigate and offer his help. As an angel, he cannot sit by and watch the harm of a helpless human."

She pressed submit and waited. "...three... two... one..."

Right on cue, a shadow passed briefly overhead. She looked up to see a robed figure flying above her, icy blue eyes taking in the situation at a glance. Virziel was on the ground being mobbed by no less than twenty metal figures. He struggled to fight and buck them away, but they surrounded him with their heavy bodies keeping him at bay. One was lining up a shot to his head.

"Aurelius, please won't you help him?" DD pleaded, her hands clasped together as if praying. Though, a second later her braced feet slipped and she went skidding down the tiled roof with a squeal of alarm.

The man was quick to act, swooping in to tug her safely to his chest. "My dear, how did you get on the roof? What are these metal creatures and why are you asking me to save my greatest enemy? And how do you know my name?"

"It's more important to act right now, don't you think? There is time for explanation later."

"But why would I even think to save a man who-"

"You've already taken so much from Rachel. Do you want to cause her to lose him too?"

Aurelius froze, eyes widening in genuine surprise. "...very well, but I have many questions for you after this." He then turned and dashed off, without wasting time even putting her down. With the girl cradled carefully in one arm, his right outstretched. A sword materialized in his grasp, and as the robot was about to pull the trigger, the blade went slicing through its head. It fell over in a sparking, spasming heap, as a startled Virziel was snatched up by the back of his collar, the sword gone as quickly as it had appeared. Aurelius soared high with his two passengers in tow, dodging laser shots as he went, and rose to the height of the roof. Carefully, he set them both down and hovered with a frown upon his face and arms folded taught over his chest.

"What the hell are you doing here?!"

"Language."

"Shut up and make sure this girl doesn't fall again."

"You fell?" He blinked, and DD nodded her head. "What a useless..."

He trailed off, watching with a scowl as Aurelius turned and darted away, sword reappeared in his grasp. He sliced through the mob, cutting down five in one swing of the deadly blade.

"Told you you'd need backup."

"...just shut up."

The onslaught continued, leaving DD with the distinct feeling that she should be munching on popcorn. But she didn't have any on hand and did not wish to drain the power of her magical iPod. So she simply sat and watched, with one hand on Virziel's arm in case she began to slide off the roof again. He stiffened at first but soon accepted it with a grunt. He was tense with agitation as he watched his foe best him, his face twisted in a silent snarl as his fangs bared with mounting anger. Making it worse, DD kept commenting on the scene.

"Wow. Did you see the way he sliced off that thing's head? Amazing."

"Hmph."

"Whoa, he got three in one swing just now!"

"Tch."

"Aw man! He just punched through that one's chest! He doesn't even need a sword! Unlike you, who just-"

She cut off as a hand clamped firmly over her mouth and rocked her onto her back, shoved roughly down upon the roof. "If you don't shut up, I will kill you right now." Blazing, silver eyes bored down into hers, which were wide and startled by the sudden movement. She nodded and he released her after another few seconds, allowing her to rise.

Sitting up again, she rubbed at the back of her head with a wince, and then at her mouth where he'd squeezed. "...ouch."

Falling silent, DD continued to watch the scene play out. Aurelius tore robots limb from limb without any restraint. He was smiling as he did it, making himself look rather insane as he took pleasure from causing the machines pain. Well, she supposed they didn't really feel pain, but that was probably lucky for them. She winced on their behalf as the angel ripped an arm from one's body and beat another in the head with it. Then both were promptly sliced through with the sword.

The mob had dwindled drastically and he never let up. Pursuing them, he beat them down in clusters of three or more at a time. It was efficient, but messy, as his white clothing and hair were quickly stained black with oil. Even the feathers of his wings were gaining a slick coat. Using them sent the sludgy liquid flying with every thrust, spattering the scrap-littered grass and driveway with even more mess to eventually clean up.

I think I'll just write up a machine to clean it for me... DD decided to herself. Preferably before anyone notices it. She wished her mom was a heavier sleeper.

She glanced up again as Aurelius grabbed the arm of a bot and swung it in a wide circle, crashing into a remaining four and sending them all flying together in a heap. He threw the last on top, and with a mighty swing, drove his sword down and through all five at once. His wings drew him quickly back from the resulting explosion. For a moment he simply hovered there, looking over everything to make sure no more were moving, and then he huffed out a sigh and let his sword vanish.

Turning, he drifted back toward the pair on the roof, and smirked down at his rival triumphantly. Virzil huffed and turned away.

"That was pretty cool, I'll admit," DD spoke up to break a building tension. She paused a moment to look over his blackened wings, and her own smirk began to appear. "Foreshadowing..." she whispered.

"What?"

"Nothing! Did you want me to explain things now?"

"Oh. Oh yes. Start from the top. Who are you, where am I, and how do you know me and..." He trailed off, gaze lowering with a hint of guilt.

"In exchange you have to promise to help me see this through to the end."

Aurelius hesitated, but his desire to know prompted him to nod ever so slightly.

DD smiled. "Well, you see. My name, at the moment, is DD. I wrote a book, which centers around you and Virziel and Rachel as the main characters. I used my handy dandy iPod app to bring you here to help me out. Some jerk's stealing all the sweets from us to ruin Christmas, and for fat Americans, that simply won't do. They'll end up eating each other, or something. I don't know, I'm making this part up. But the point is, I don't know how to fight so I need some help. Since I've been thinking so much about y'all, I figured it'd be cool to ask for your help. So... yeah. That's it."

The angel gave her the most genuine look of disbelief she had ever seen. "...and you... expect me to believe that..?"

She paused, then slowly shook her head. "No, I guess. It does sound crazy. Regardless, you're here, I'm here, I'm in trouble, and I need your help. You're like, obligated to help those in need or something, right? Or you should be."

"I suppose, but..."

"Because those things have lasers, and I have fragile human skin and no weapons or fighting skills."

"Sounds like a personal problem," Virziel cut in with a mutter.

Aurelius resisted the urge to run him through with is sword. "...fine, DD. I will offer my assistance."

"Awesome, thanks. I'd really like to get away from my house in case more things show up and start blowing it up or something. So..." She looked up expectantly, eyes moving between the two men. Aurelius moved forward first, arms reaching out as if to scoop her up. But, she quickly held up a hand in protest. "No thanks. You'll get oil all over me."

"What? Oh, my dear... you don't mean that," he objected, drifting closer still. His eyes locked with hers, kind, narrowed, inviting... and glinting with a hint of magic.

DD simply turned her head away. "Nope, I do mean it. Virziel, would you mind..?"

"Uughhh... do I have to?" he groaned out, yet he reached out and gathered the girl up in his grasp nonetheless. He couldn't help feeling a little pleased that the angel had been scorned.

Aurelius seemed dumbfounded by it. Nobody ever resisted his spell! Hands clenching, he turned and backed off with clear reluctance. "Well then..." he spoke through nearly clenched teeth. "Where are we headed?"

DD shrugged and waved her hand to her right. "I dunno... that direction, I guess."

"Is that really the best you can offer?" Virziel asked in a soft growl, but he hopped off the roof with her in his arms. Wings spread wide, he began to idly drift in the direction she had pointed to, though his brow was furrowed in distrust. There was no way this way would be any better than if she'd pointed to the left, or even up.

"I would simply be grateful for a chance to return home," Aurelius mumbled, still disgruntled over his rejection.

"Oh, stop fussing. It shouldn't last long, I hope. Maybe I'll end up switching you out for someone better or something."

"What? There is no one better than me!" the angel roared.

DD just sighed and closed her eyes. "I think you're the most likely one to be sent off..."

Glowering, he drifted off further away, leaving Virziel smirking to himself in ever-increasing amusement. It was interrupted abruptly by another laser zipping past. "Whoa!" He lurched backwards in the air, tugging himself and DD to safety. "Looks like you missed a few," he growled toward his rival.

Aurelius casually glanced over his shoulder, spotting another growing hoard of metal monsters marching down the street. They glistened in the moonlight, and held guns pointed skyward. He slipped to the side to avoid another shot. "Such a bother..." But he took off, bolting down into the crowd. As he shot through them, his sword appeared in his hand, cutting down a row and sending pieces flying out and leaving a trail of scrap metal behind him.

Aurelius reeled around for another go, but as his arm drew back to swing the heavy sword, it was caught in a cold, metal grip. He froze, head turning to the bot, only to have another latch onto him. A third sent a fist soaring to connect roughly with his cheek, toppling him over into the mass.

"Ha." Virziel laughed to himself, enjoying the scene, only to nearly be hit by a stray laser a second after.

DD frowned and knocked him lightly on the shoulder. "Hey, you should really go help out."

"Why? I hate that guy."

"Because. We had a deal, you know. No winning this, no enviable tattoo."

"...fine," Virziel grumbled. Almost sulking, he floated down to the ground and set the girl behind a parked car on the street. Then he soared almost lazily toward the fray, idly dodging more shots as he went.

Once he reached the crowd, Virziel's idle demeanor instantly transformed. Peeking from around the car, DD saw him disappear into the crowd. They swarmed him, forming a metal mound of bodies, and then suddenly surged upwards to send them flying in all directions. A few landed hard upon the ground, sparking and sizzling as they malfunctioned. Some from the interior of the pile were already shredded to pieces.

"Impressive..."

The demon continued his onslaught, tearing the bots to pieces as he fought his way to Aurelius' side. Reluctantly, he tore another from the angel, and scowled as he hauled him to his feet by his white robes.

"I did not ask for your help!" Aurelius roared.

"Sorry. I just couldn't stand how pathetic you looked," Virziel sneered back.

"Why you-!"

The two were at it instantly, exchanging blows with no regard for their surroundings. Of course, this meant that as Virziel drew back his arm to throw a punch, his elbow slammed into and shattered a bot trying to sneak up behind him. Likewise, Aurelius' misses went whizzing past to collide with surrounding foes, which seemed confused by the turn of events.

"What are you two doing?!" DD's voice suddenly cut in, causing both panting men to turn their heads. They saw the girl scrambling away, as some of the army had veered off and gone after her as a more suitable target. "Help me!"

Virziel shoved Aurelius out of his way as he raced forward toward the girl. She had been swarmed by the sheer number of foes, as they raced to catch up with her. But, following the standard of any poor movie, she tripped over her own feet and smashed into the pavement of the road with a cry of alarm. A bot jumped on her and she screamed, feeling cold fingers grasping at her neck. A second later, it'd been hauled off.

She looked up to see Virziel and Aurelius on either side of her. They were furious, one swinging a sword with expert precision, the other fighting with the wild abandon of a rabid animal. They pushed outward from where she lay, easing the army back until at last, nothing remained but a heap of scrap metal and the two panting from the effort.

"Wow... nice job."
