Well, I honestly think that this BidBlast is crap.

The gold to conversion rate is okay, I understand it's a gold sink, but have you seen the prices for the prizes? It's been over 8 hours, and they're still on their first items.

455, 495 GGold for a Elegant White Satin Coat (a item that is 56,300 gold in the Gold Shop).

But remember that GGold is 10% more expensive then regular gold. They're paying (on that bid) 4,554,950 gold for a 56,300 gold item.

Then there's the Stuffed MoMo Backpack. 99,876 gold on the MP, they're bidding 339, 343 GGold (or 3,393,430 gold).

So far the only one even worth it is the Mini Angel Wings ( 170,777,777 gold on the MP) which is going for 801,917 GGold (8,018,170 gold).

Gaia said that this would fight item extinction, but so far I only see items that you don't use in recipes.

What's your ideas? (please keep in mind the prices I pulled from the BidBlast page were prices as I wrote this).

They restart each auction after they end. After the last 30 seconds and somebody wins it's restarted at 30 seconds until the auction ends at it's set date.

So technically there could be another 100 pairs of Mini wings that could be distributed.

(Insert sarcasm.) Well, I think it is an idea slightly better than Alchemy.
Gold sink. Buying a Gold Shop item with 3mil?! emotion_donotwant
And yeah, every items in it is not worth for bidding, except the Mini Wings.

Basically it's a gold sink. People are paying millions of gold for items that are only a few ten of thousands of dollars. People have to bid those items out of the way to get even a minute chance at a extremely rare item (like Mini Wings (Clips). Every GGold is basically converted as such -> 1GGold = 10 Gold.
They use this so you can vote....and bid up everyone if you have the blasted GGold.

My theory is that they drain us of gold we might even consider putting towards items we might actually want.. or (almost forbid the thought) saving up to try and even get items for alchemy.

I'm confused, what is Ggold? What's the difference between that and gold? I thought they were the same thing. I also noticed you're using a conversion rate between the two...

You can only bid with what they call "GGold" GGold is what you buy with normal gold. GGold is 10% more expensive then regular gold (hence the gold sink).

So let me get this straight, the miniwings said they were a bit over 1m ggold.

Does that mean the person that won them paid a little over 1m or a little over 10m?

If they say the winning bid is 1,000,000 GGold, the winner just spent 10,000,000 Gold on the item.

EDIT: I just read the new announcement

Now, if the winning bid it 1,000,000 GGold, the winner just spent 100,000,000 regular gold.
