I know parents have the right to let their kids act however they want them to, but I've seen a few cases where it made me want to spank the kid myself...but then it could be the parent who needs the a** kicking.
The other day when I was walking with my niece home from school, some car drove onto the sidewalk (the flat park where there's NO HOUSES to park by) and this overweight foreign woman started screaming at us. I rolled my eyes and walked behind the car and we went home. Yesterday I was walking my neice again and the same woman parked by us, got out of the car and stood there with her arms folded. Then I guess it was her little girl who walked AROUND us and she was glaring at me like, "You see me? You see me? Look." Yuck! Take note we were walking in a public area by the school and the field, it was not their land we were crossing and we were walking on the SIDEWALK.
I know they're trying to tell us something, but..anyway....why would parents have their kids take part in stupid things like this? There are other cases like last month at the grocery store where the dad's staring at me and his kid (or something) runs over to me and "accidentally" run into me, fall down, and scream. It's like..."The ********?! Watch your kids!" but he WAS watching his kid. rolleyes
Is it some sort of custom I'm not aware of? Cultural differences? Why do parents let their kids act so bad and whatever happened to manners?

People want their children to be like them, thus idiots want their children to be idiots.
Or so I guess.

Eh? That sounds incredibly weird. I'm not really sure what the lady was so angry about (did she think you were on her property?), or why that one kid ran into you and fell down...

Foam-Dome Eh? That sounds incredibly weird. I'm not really sure what the lady was so angry about (did she think you were on her property?), or why that one kid ran into you and fell down... No, I was not on her property. I think I've seen her a few times in the apartments by the shopping area (I visit a few friends over there) and there's no way she lives close by that school. -_-" That annoying thing has issues.
And as for the kid that ran into me, he just...did. I was leaning on one of those pillars outside of the store when this guy and his kid came out. He stood a few feet away from me and his kid just ran around for a while. He ran into me, fell down and started screaming as if I hurt him! >:/ He helped his bad kid up and started trying to scold me, telling me I should watch where I'm walking. I was NOT walking. I was STANDING.
The more I look around me, the more I notice how bad people let their kids act. At stores, dentists office, ESPECIALLY doctor's office AND at the community college. Maybe I'm from a different family where harassing others is taught as a huge N.O...or maybe there's no such thing as manners in public?
It just irritates me and I wanted to ask "Why don't you teach your kids to behave????" Children rarely ever act like their parents, so the effort is wasted. But the ugly attitude is contagious. Judging from the poll, it must be better to teach today's kids to not have manners.

Man, that kid sounds kinda stupid... XD And as for the dad, I would've talked back something fierce.
"Um, my feet weren't even moving, and your little gremlin was zooming around all over the place. Yelling at me because your kid ran into me is like speeding and rear-ending a car that's stopped at a red light, then screaming 'WHY DID YOU LET ME HIT YOU WHILE I WAS GOING EIGHTY MILES AN HOUR?!'"

I feel there's a lack of parenting lately. I, too, have seen parents let their kids do whatever they want, whether it was through inattention or just plain indifference. It's as if they think their the only ones in the room or that others' feelings don't matter. Granted, not all parents are like that, but there are enough to make a difference.

Yes, I think it's mostly indifference. So used to the kids acting up, it's normal for them to have the little ones act out. (I've noticed even with my half-sister and her kids in public shopping areas.) I know a few parents who take great care of their kids...but they are not noticed like the ones who don't care lol It's weird how you only notice bad parenting, but rarely good. :/

OMG. That sounds horrible! I know what you mean. I was at Old Navy today and heard this kid screaming at his dad and his dad was screaming back.... If that were my kid, I'd put the stuff down, and go directly to the car and leave. Especially when kids scream at their parents to buy them toys or candy. I would never allow that sort of behavior from my kid. Ever. Instant time out.
