I don't think it is dead. No one has just posted for a long time. Care to share your story? I am an Aspie myself.

Well, when I was two years old my parents noticed something different about me. I never slept through the night and I never spoke. I didn't know how to tell my Mom what I wanted so I would always grab her hand, lead her to the fridge, and just put her hand on the milk or whatever I wanted. Eventually, my Mom went to the library to look this stuff up and she found the way I acted in this book and saw autism. She went and got me diagnosed. The lady that diagnosed me told my mom she'd have to go all the way to Chapel Hill (which is like two hours away) for me to have a counselor and my Mom just couldn't do it so she begged her to counsel me. At first she said she couldn't do that but my Mom was desperate and she could tell so she decided to do it. After getting to know me and giving me therapy and stuff she decided she wanted to be a counselor for autistic kids. I had speech therapy and such. When I was four I talked more. I knew who I was and I actually talked and said what I wanted. My only problem was I didn't know how to say the word yes. For instance, my Mom would be like "Do you want a cookie?" and I'd just be like "Do you want a cookie?" and my Mom took that as meaning yes and boy was she right. If my answer was no I simply knew how to say no. That's only really the first part of the story, I'll write the whole thing another time in another thread 'cause it's such a long story. What about you? What's your story if you don't mind my asking?

Okay. Well I am currently 31 and live on my own. I was diagnosed with Asperger's back in 2007. I was unemployed at the time and living back at home. Having Asperger's but not knowing I had it had cost me pretty much two jobs. I was diagonosed by a psychologist and was reccommended to the local Department of vocational rehabilitation office. The helped me get a job with a company called Orion. A machine shop where I do shipping and receiving. This is my current job since 08 and Iove it.
I am back to living on my own. I don't take meds and I can take care of my self. I just have trouble with social awkwardness, social cues at times, being ocd about certain things and some other issues.
