Okay, so I'm from a small town. And when I say small, I mean miniscule. We have just under 900 people. Honestly, I don't mind the small town life, but it leaves one under-equipted to deal with larger cities. So when my Dad announced that the company was putting him and his family up in a fancy-shcmancy hotel in downtown Denver for three days, I freaked. I mean, its going to be AMAZING! But I have no idea how to handle all the bigness. My mom refuses to drive in Denver, or even Greeley or Fort Collins, and my Dad will be in meetings the entire time, so we're going to have to either walk or ride the bus everywhere. Big problem: No one knows how to ride a bus. And my mom is afraid that we're going to get mugged if we walk, although that might just be because I have a habit of pointing and speaking loudly whenever I see something that isn't common in my town. So, basically, I need to know:
How to ride a bus.
Any good places to visit Denver (preferably cheapish)
And a good place to celebrate my mom's birthday.

You are the apple...

Not sure how it is in Denver, by in my city, you just pay the bus fare and hop on. Then when you get to just before where you want to get off, there's a cord that you pull that alerts the driver someone wants to get off...

As far as places in Denver, I've never been, so I wouldnt know.

and I am your core.

Denver Colorado Bus Systems

Regional Transport District of Denver, Colorado.

Extended information on Denver Colorado

Population as of July 2009: 610,345.

My town is 50x bigger than yours, 12th the size of Denver. I feel more relatable to yours, though due to our rural background. The plus about big cities is that, due to the size, they like to shove a LOT of things into grouped areas so walking can be an option. It's common in some cities for people to not own a car at all because public transportation is easier. I took a trip down to Boise (3rd the size of Denver) and there were so many people walking places because it was more convenient than being stuck in traffic.

You should stick to buses, unless you're only travelling short distances. With the bus, you can get a map of the area! ;D Google Map your hotel and take down the places you'd be interested in, then print out the map on your computer and/or mark them on the bus route when you get one. Feel free to be curious, but treat it like Las Vegas, don't let anyone you don't know know that you're visiting and are new to the area.

You'll definitely become a big city pro in three days!
