I'm weird I have a love/hate relationship with non-con/rape in my slash. I have a bit of a fetish for it redface yet at the same time the majority of the fics I have read in them are not only so cliche I've seen the plot with at leas seven sets of characters before but badly written as well. It's like the NC is just thrown in there like MSG to give a bland plot the inkling of flavor. You know Uke gets raped, Seme either saves the day right there and they ******** or Seme finds out and saves Uke. XP
But it's not just that, it's also the glorification of being a victim especially in the Seme-rapes-Uke-and-during/right after-the-rape-Uke-falls-madly- in-love-with-Seme type of ficks. Rape is a horrible scarring experience and it just makes me feel uncomfortable to see it used like this.
Do you think I am reading too much into it? Am I just being a b***h? Tell me what you think people.
Edit: all spelling errors fixed this time sweatdrop I should know better than to type in the middle of the night.

I don't mind rape stories... as long as they're well written and not to much over the top. The hurt comfert scenes are always the best after the rape happens. wink But yeah, they have to be extreamly well written for me, otherwise it's just not believeable...
I was going to write something else other then that, but my minds just gone xp and I can't think of what else I was going to write.

I think its all part of the story telling. Deviants are out there, and different things appeal. twisted I am a deviant. But yes i agree that the story has to be ace-par. I find the 2 seme fighting over the uke story, with it ending in the 2 seme's battleing for dom in a sexual battle....lol mrgreen So yeah as i said somewhere else "its not okay for life to imitate art." But then again i cant say that because in some cases the world of fetish over rules many human morals and ethics. I just love my yaoi. heart

Nope, sorry, I won't touch the stuff. Okay I have read one story that contained rape but it happened when the seme wasn't exactly himself, and things ended up alright in the end. with a nice graphic three way It's a Yu Yu Hakusho fic, called 'In Too Deep', it's between Hiei/Kurama/Yusuke. wink But normally I try to avoid rape fics.

I like angsty fics/dou-sth ((dj's for short. Can't remember if it was doushijin or doujinshi...or maybe something else entirely e.e)). And usually, angsty is tied in with rape. So I guess I like rape too @.@;;
There was this fic introduced in this forum called "Station". I really really liked that story but it has rape in it. So I guess that's proof xD

*I'm going to use manga as examples, because more people will be familiar with manga than individual fanfictions.*
The thing is, at least in my mind, their are diffrent levels of consent. In something like Yami no Matsui/Descendents into Darkness the relationship between Muraki and Tsuzuki(sp?) is rape. There is no question about it. This can be an interesting plot device for psychological exploration, and much angst. However, I will only read a fic or manga of this variety if the victim DOES NOT fall in love with their rapist. This is not realistic and it bothers me.
In something like Desire, events are a little more unclear. While the guys are friends, and permission was given at first, no, wait, and stop MEAN no, wait, and stop. I WILL NOT read manga/fic like this because it really, really bothers me. Blurring the lines between consent and non-con is not good, especially if they live dsyfunctionally ever after.
Then of course there's Fake. I really don't think there's even a question of the relationship between Dee and Ryo being anything but consensual, and have an essay to back it up, but that's a topic for another post. However, their is a bit of pressure from Dee, but it is light and intended for humor. I love Fake and will cheerfully devour manga/fic similiar to it.

Rape is a horrible scarring experience and it just makes me feel uncomfortable to see it used like this. I agree. I don't mind non-con. I'm writing a non-con Sukisyo fanfiction right now. The thing is, most writers tend to make it seem as though the one being raped enjoys it. I think that's sick, and that bothers me. Anyone who has been raped would know that that is the farthest thing from the truth.

Even though it's completely unrealistic, I love the dubious-con stories where it's like, 'okay, this guy is forcing himself on the other, but the other secretly likes him or wants to get laid anyway or something'.
I don't actually read a lot of actual rape fics, and I probably wouldn't unless the writer seemed to be a really good one.
