I love to roleplay, but so far finding a good one has been few and far between. I can't stand it when I find one that has an interesting topic, but then I go to read the description and it's silly and a waste of my time to have even read it. There was nothing in barton town and I'm tired of filling out applications so I went back to the commerce. Saw a real nice thread. Layout was pretty, yet simple. The type was a little small, but that's okay. I start to read the description and the person is trying to be so mystical and use some weird descriptive crap that I haven't the slightest of what was being said. Now, I have no problem with being descriptive, or mystic stuff, but can I get some plain English in there as well so that I'll have clue. Then I read her first post. In the rules it states to describe your character in the first post. The author was talking about her character had fur when the picture of her character is human. NOWHERE in her first post did whoever mention that their character was a neko, fox, wolf....I haven't the slightest. So now we have someone who is trying to be some creative writing genius who can't even follow his/her own rules. stressed Majority of the RP's out there make me want to choke someone.

I try to join a guild then they're just like "Sorry you have to read the tens pages of rules and show us your roleplaying skills. Oh and it costs 5k to join."

Nightmare Chimera My biggest pet peeve with some of these RP's is that the story will start off pretty good, but then all it takes is one person to muck it all up by saying something completely idiotic... =_=

Nightmare Chimera My biggest pet peeve with some of these RP's is that the story will start off pretty good, but then all it takes is one person to muck it all up by saying something completely idiotic... =_= You aren't joking. I've seen that happen a lot. So much in fact that I just roll with whatever the peanut gallery is doing. Until it just gets so ridiculous that it doesn't make sense anymore. Then I leave.

I'm just like WTFudge! scream See, that is just uncalled for. Sounds like one of those places who say 'you have to post at least seven paragraphs with ten to twelve sentences each'. They take it way too seriously. If you're looking for a guild to RP in have you tried the Literate Roleplay Guild? I joined on what used to be my main and they seemed pretty cool. There are a couple of RP's up in this guild as well. ^_^

I've seen that happen a lot. So much in fact that I just roll with whatever the peanut gallery is doing. Until it just gets so ridiculous that it doesn't make sense anymore. Then I leave. Exactly! Just recently I gave up on one RP because this kid was dangerously close to god-modding, and the author was letting him! scream Thing about the story was that if you were from this area, you had fire powers. If you were from the other area, you had either ice OR water. This kid "made" it so he had all three. stressed

Oh, and I can't stand this new age vampire that's going around. Back in my day, if you didn't stick to the template of what a vampire was...you got flamed for it. But now vampires are drinking the blood of other vampires and turning humans into vampires with just a single bite? -tosses her BS flag on the play- talk2hand

You;re right, it's completely hard to find a good, well-written roleplay around that I can understand and be interested in that doesn't ask too much or too little from someone.
Of course, I actually found one that I was interested in last night, based on a story I could really get into with requirements that weren't too strict yet held up literate levels. So I read through all of the specs, which were quite long, though I was interested so I dealt with it, and then I go look in the OOC and see that it has already shut down and wasn't active. No warning or anything in the topic title or anything! A complete waste of my time and excitement! MREH

I want to send a nuke to the actors who went along with that crap because they knew better. Soooo many vampire RP's have to put that vampires don't sparkle in their rules. That's just uncalled for.

Wow, that really sucks. I'm sorry. sad I've gotten into the habit of seeing when the last post was made and if the author isn't online, then I wait until it has a new post before I do anything. I've spent much time doing exactly what you did, lol. It's nerve wrecking.

And, this is coming from an author who apparently doesn't know that ice is water. My point exactly. It was obvious BOTH of these people had absolutely no clue what they were doing. So basically I just quit. It was going nowhere fast. And regarding the whole Twilight nonsense, werewolves were utterly slaughtered as well. I mean, just glimpsing at the previews, anyone could tell that those were just messy, oversized DOGS. Werewolves are supposed to be a combination of man and beast. Not a giant puppy. And I remember the days where vampires were glorious creatures that ripped open a human's throat, not kissing said throat. All this teen girl crap just kills me.
