Ok I'm going to start more intensivley cross training. I'm a blue belt in Hapkido, and I've done some Boxing, Wrestling, and Submission Fighting. I've won some MMA fights, but I feel like I need to know more and want to learn more. Well there are 2 arts that I have my eye on, but can only choose one. These 2 arts are Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Both are excellent groundfighting systems. And both have great submission and chokes. Judo has great throws and BJJ has great takedowns. Both have proven well in MMA. (Gracie in UFC, Yoshida in PRIDE)

And I can't seem to choose and need advice on which one to learn.

If you could give me both the pro's and con's of both arts, I would love to hear them. Also any other comments you have about them.

I don't really know much about either.
I'd go with jujitsu though, I hear judo doesn't have as much use in MMA as jujitsu.

That's not entirely true. Look at Hidehiko Yoshida. He's a champion Judoka and he beat Royce Graice. And back in the 50's Masahiko Kimura who also was a champion Judoka beat Helio Gracie.

I personally feel that while throws are pretty and all, you will have more opportunities to use basic takedowns in any given match. Therefore, I vote BJJ. Of course, I am also giving this advice as someone who's seen some decent BJJ but not much in the way of Judo.

Honestly, questions of art aside, I think your best bet is to try a few classes of each discipline, and see which school you jell with better. I understand that you're probably statisfied as to the quality of instruction in both schools, but there are also instructor personalities and tendencies to consider, as well as classmates, class structure, etc. You want a school that rings *all* your bells and whistles. Because a stimulated and enthusiastic student will always perform better than someone going by rote, regardless of art.

BJJ

Without a doubt. Judo is a poor man's BJJ.

Well if your goal is MMA competetions, go with BJJ.

I envy that you get to study hapkido neutral

The majority of you say BJJ. Though I wouldn't say Judo is a poor man's BJJ, cause if it wasen't for Judo there would be no BJJ.

I don't know. I honestly am leaning towards Judo more.

I like both arts and can't choose.

I have a friend who has taken both styles for awhile now.
according to him, Judo wouldn't be as good for a MMA fight because alot of the throws and such you won't have chances to do, and alot can't be done properly without clothes to grab onto.

Coudln't the same be said about BJJ? When you take BJJ you have to wear a gi, just like in Judo. You would just have to adapt to it either way without a gi. I heard BJJ and Judo have alot of the same submissions and chokes.

And for randomness here's a pic of a great BJJ Fighters (Royce) and a great Judoka (Hidehiko)

From what I've seen here in the Netherlands, Judoka's beat BJJ a**.
But then that might be because we have a pretty elevated level of judo.
BJJ can be practiced with or without Gi, Judo is always with Gi...
In that sense BJJ would probably be closer to MMA.

Truth is, I've seen BJJ practitioners participate in submission wrestling and judoka's do the same... The BJJ I saw was quite frankly ridiculous.
If BJJ involves jumping onto your opponent to take him down, I say screw that, go for Judo.

You want something that doesn't assume beforehand that you will end up on the floor.

But then, that is my experience with schools and practitioners here.
I would suggest you look at both schools and see the focus of the school, as well as the ability of the practitioners.

I'm also voting for Judo. BJJ cut a lot of it's techniques when it was adapted. I feel this has watered it down for use in ring fights. Judo was also adapted from Jiujitsu, but I think it still retains much more of the essentials. Judo also has more depth and better footwork, in my opinion. With your striking skills I think it would complement you better. It'll enable you to keep your feet and take them down. There are also plenty of submissions in Judo so you wouldn't be losing anything there.

Now I'm starting to lean toward Judo alot more.

I'm going to continue to take Hapkido. I was wondering how would both Judo and BJJ would compliment my Hapkido.

my votes on ju jutsu. alot of people in my school take ju jutsu and judo. and ive yet to see any guys from judo beat up a guy from ju jutsu. my vote's on taking both or where someone mixed them both to teach both for the price of one.
