Once the City of Angels, Los Angeles is now known by a new name, Chasm City. In 2175, the major fault line bordering California shifted drastically, creating an earthquake so strong, it tore California in half. Huge cracks from this quake spread out and ripped through multiple cities. Los Angeles was one of the few to recover. The government decided to build upon the walls of the great chasm, much like the ancient pueblo people of Mexico. It didn't take long for construction to begin, and by the year 2279, the great city was complete. This was known as California's "Golden Age". These are the stories of the people of Chasm City. Of the police force that uses animals as partners for their officers. Of the joy and despair, hate and love that is Chasm City.

6.Absolutely no god modding, auto hitting, auto knowing, etc.
7. All animals must be real. No mythical creatures.
8. Romance and fighting between RPC's is encouraged, but keep it PG 17. No Cybering
9. Try your best to match your RPC's personality with the animal you chose.
10. It's not mandatory that all RPCs have a different animal, but try not to double. I don't want everyone having wolves as their partner animals.
11. This RP is meant to be semi-realistic. Everyone must be human. But, you can have futuristic body mods, like robot arms or cyber optic eyes. Just don't go over the top.

The Chasm City Police Force
Here in Chasm City, animals have become an excellent source of partners for our officers. After completing training, each officer must undergo a series of tests called the "Partnering Rite". These tests will determine what animal our officers will be partnered with. Each animal is chosen by studying the officer's results in the Rite. We will chose the animal that is best compatible with the officer's personality, combat style, and field strategies. As an example, a man who is very aggressive and uses brute force to accomplish a set task would most likely be paired with a similar animal. Say, a silver backed gorilla. Each animal is genetically enhanced to think as a human, and to speak as one.

The Residents of Chasm City
The people who reside here come from all walks of society. They are the average (or so they say) people who are not on the police force. Among them, there are common workers, students, criminals, vigilantes and hundreds more. And because of all of the animals the police force brings in, these people often have exotic pets. Being genetically altered, they think and act like humans, but they usually don't have the battle training as the police animals.

Her mother was the captain of the force, and Raya was destined to follow. Her whole life she strove to be better than her peers, rather it be in academics or athletics. Eventually, this paid off, for she joined the Chasm City force, and rocketed to the top, becoming the Captain and head of the entire force. He usually likes space and prefers to be alone, with his thoughts and Achak. In the city, however, he doesn't really get much of that, so he settles for daydreaming all day. Though he does have a dominant forgetful personality, the other part of him is quite charming. He has a witty, clever humor, and a friendly charm that makes everybody can't help but like him. He cares much for his colleagues and friends (if he remembers their needs, of course) and has a big heart. Once he gets serious, such as if a threat endangers his city and loved ones, he's very determined, capable, and talented. He is very resourceful, using everything within reach to meet his goals.

Biography: Jared had never known his parents. They disappeared when he was very young, and he had stayed with his grandmother since then. She said that they died for a noble cause, but Jared had always been suspicious that that wasn't the real truth. It didn't really matter to him anyway; in his life, his grandmother provided both the mother and father parts that he needed. He loved his grandmother very much, and did a lot to please her: get good grades, be healthy, stay happy. Unfortunately, he had to be reminded a lot to do it all.
When the tragic earthquake struck, Jared, his responsible and resourceful side kicking, took his grandmother to safety. They took shelter with a friend of his grandmothers, who lived in Kansas, and stayed until construction of the new Los Angeles. Soon after the city was completed, Jared and his grandmother moved back. By that time, Jared was nearly done with college, and he finished up a year later. He signed up for the police corps, was tested, and received Achak soon after. Since then, Jared has been completely happy. He visits his grandmother time to time, where he feels that she is happier to see Achak more than him.
Additional Info: Unlike other officers, whose partners are matched according to their personality, Jared and Achak are almost nothing alike. Whereas Jared is absent-minded and kiddish, Achak is responsible and refined. Her personality is much like that of royalty, and her form truly shows it. A truly beautiful bird, she carries herself with grace and femininity. She has a melodic, intelligent way of speaking, which she mostly uses to reprimand Jared for his forgetfulness.
Jared, as a black belt martial artist and skilled acrobat, prefers to fight hands-on with thugs and whichever threat pops up rather than guns and other weapons.

He was able to keep composed all the way through until he was given the chance to go through the Partnering Rite to find his animal cohort. It was determined that the liger cub would make his match and he couldn’t have asked for a nicer partner. Sheila is calm and collected at all times because she never really has to rush anything. Her monstrous looks are concealed by the finesse with which she carries herself and catches her crooks. Additional Info: Ossman has a mechanized left arm past the shoulder and left leg below the knee. These are from past experiences with armed assailants. Biography: When Rosetta was around five they hired a man to take her away to a place where they would never have to see her again. Years later once she had grown up enough she left her mother with a small and suddle goodbye. She moved to a rather large rundown looking city that was cheap but lacked the protection.

Call out kindly, offer the man a cup of tea, and hope that when I stepped out from behind my cover, he might not blow me into bits?" The two were speaking about a recent assignment. A mentally unstable man had held a bank hostage, brandishing a weapon that fired small, steel projectiles. Jared strolled down the halls of Chasm City's police station, idly munching on a banana. His partnered animal, a beautiful Swallow-Tailed Kite named Achak, perched on his shoulder. Jared was feeling quite proud of himself. For once, he'd woken up on time without Achak's help. Perhaps because he was so exhausted from their previous mission, he collapsed as soon as he arrived at his apartment and had a good night's sleep. Right now, he was feeling well-rested and perky. Now, they arrive at the door to the Captain of the Police Force's office.
Getting another triumphant surge, Jared grinned at the bird resting on his shoulder. "Y'think Chief Raya'll be mighty happy if I tell her I came on time. Y'know she's always naggin' to me about how late I am every day."
Achak gave him a hard peck on the head. "Late every day, my feathers! You're on time every day because of me! And telling your Commander about how you woke up this morning wouldn't be very professional."
Jared rubbed his head ruefully and flicked sandy-brown hair out of his eyes. "Yeah, well, I'm not a very professional guy."
The black-and-white bird ruffled her feathers and chirped, "Yes, yes, I know that. Just try not to embarrass us too much."
Jared grinned and entered the room. Raya Svearington, the Captain of the Police Force, sat at her large oak desk, signing off some very official-looking papers and grumbling. Her partner, a majestic White Bengal Tiger, sat lazily on the couch nearby. "Morning, Chief!" Jared called out cheerfully. He stopped by Raya's desk and leaned against it, then peeking at the papers. He whistled, then said, "Wow, that's a mightly load of paperwork. And it's just for that one dude with the fancy weapon?"

Jared chuckled as he listened to the light banter going back and forth between Chief Raya and her partnered animal. He always admired the relationship between humans and their partners. It was a relationship like that of a really close friend, except even closer. They practically knew you inside out, and you both enjoyed small arguments like this. He wished, though, that the banter between him and his own animal would be more like Raya's and less like their one-sided battle, almost always with Achak coming up as the winner.
The young officer let out a low whistle as the white tiger listed off the damage done by her human partner. Jared himself had been witness to Raya's merciless damage. It hadn't been pretty. He chuckled once more at Raya's grumbling reply. "Your concern is truly one to admire, Chief." he commented lightly. Then he let out a small cough and asked, "Anyways... where am I stationed at today? The library between South and Westminster? Or hopefully, the donut shop by Clarion and Avery?"
