[R] Ready, Set, Spike! [Castille x Aitana] [FIN]

"Two and half years. Though we will see what happens when I graduate." There was a mild whoop of success as the ball crashed to the ground, gaining a few glances from the girls directly to each side. A gracious winner Aitana was not.

She was pleased to see that Castille didn't seem too downtrod about it though, in fact she seemed up to the challenge. Wonderful!

There was a loud slap of skin smacking against the wood floors as Aitana dove to the ground, catching the ball with her wrists before it could hit the ground. It sailed over the net, saved, but could she get up again before it sailed back?

The girl could dive.

Castille watched, impressed, while Aitana hit the gym floor, and the ball sailed upwards. She took a step to her right, eyes never leaving the ball. She bunched her legs together, pulling her hands back and jumped.

It was a little early. But she still managed to get a little over half her hand on the ball, flicking her wrist to bring the ball downwards. She couldn't go full force, as her timing was off and the net was higher than her jump, but the ball still came down on the opposite side of the net with little spin.

Castille landed and waited for another return. "I'm only a freshman." She said between breaths. "I have a ways to go."

She wasn't quick enough to get up. Her arm reached out from her half crouched recovery, but it wasn't quite far enough. The ball hit the ground with a smack and Aitana had to run after it.

Ball retrieved she stepped back to serve, tossing the ball up far enough to give her arm a good swing for speed and strength. The ball bounded over the net and Aitana moved forward once more to wait for it's return.

She was kind of glad to learn Castille wasn't a senior or anything. It'd be nice to make some friends that weren't going to be leaving at the end of the year.

Castille jumped up happily when the ball rebounded off into the gym. When Aitana came back, she called out "That was a sweet dive!" Maybe there could be two liberos on the team. She didn't really want to share her spot, but this girl was at least good enough that she wouldn't mind giving up a couple runs to her.

She chased the ball wide, attempting a set that went sloppily into the net. "Double hit." She muttered, bouncing the ball a couple times before tossing it into the air and sending a pass over the net back at Aitana.

"Thanks" She called out to the compliment. Sending the ball back to Castille once it had made it's way over to her.

The next hits were easy enough. Not too hard, not too easy, a perfect pace for working up a sweat and loosening muscles. It wasn't necessary to try for a kill shot all the time and for awhile Aitana seemed happy enough to volley the ball back and forth, only once or twice spiking the ball with any real force behind it.

Castille was about to jump and hit the ball when a shrill whistle came from the doorway. There stood the coach and her assistant coaches for the JV and C teams. People were starting to place the volleyballs in their possession into the baskets, falling into a group jogging around the court. Castille smiled at Aitana, and jogged to the basket, dropping the ball in and saying "Well, looks like practice is really starting now!"

"It has been fun. We will have to partner again!" She smiled to the other girl as they gathered together. Sure they weren't leaving yet, but joining the large scaled game they likely wouldn't have time to talk. But Aitana definately wanted to meet up with other girl again sometime.
