Oi. My band teacher (she claims to be 114 and knows everything rolleyes ) says that there are three types of band people. They are as follows:
The Perfectionists - Perfectionists are, well, perfect. They are the people who practice for, like, 16 hours a week and know all of their scales in velocity at at least a tempo of 120. They know almost everything and don't talk much in class.
The Average Joe - These people are normal. They do practice, but only for 5 hours if they have the time. These people will be the fourth to eith people wanting to be tested on scales.
And my personal favorite...
The Butterfly Chasers - These Butterfly Chasers have a short attention...oh look a butterfly...um..sorry. Anyways. They hardly ever practice and talk to much and play a little too loud. These people can range anywhere from the first to last in scale tests. these people sometimes eat candy hile they play their instrument and like to have side conversations and in the middle of a sentece say "hey, look at 'blank'!"
ex. "Yeah, this one time at band camp this year...hey, look! Its a butterfly... Um, what was I talking about?" (taken from one of my own conversations)

I guess I'm somewhere inbetween average and perfectionist... I practice like crazy and try to be the best that I can be because I enjoy playing my instrument. Although I don't want to be noticed in band so I don't talk, and I never go first when playing my scales. Ever.

yeah, i'm an average joe type, but one of my clarinetists that sits next to me is the "hey look a butterfly" type. she sometimes acts like a two year old and is really annoying, so it's really fun to mess with her childish brain. *evil laugh*

i'm the advrage joe..i practice and i'm not halve bad...the 2 other 3rd claranets however...they cant play and lecture me! they're butterfly with additude! it drives me nuts

I'm pretty much a "perfectionist", although I'll have my times of "average joe" -- especially since I'm so scared of what my BD and everybody else in band will think and therefore prefer to go last with my scales. I'm extremely shy.

I'm a perfectionist! lol, I don't practice until I have to though, because I can play all the music "perfectly." Maybe that is because I have allready practiced it. OH well, I am still first chair by like 30 points, so, yeah I'm definately a perfectionist.
