So I'm watching old cartoon intros on youtube like Gargoyles and Swat Kats when I get to thinking, "Wow, good cartoons are hard to come by these days." Besides Avatar: The Last Air Bender, what other good cartoons are worth the time to watch? And I'm talking american cartoons, not anime. Anime still has a strong point of good animation and story line but I feel american cartoons have lost their luster after the 1990's.
What were your favorites as a kid?

I suggest looking into Adventure Time. it's not quite the same but it's interesting as well as absurd. But I agree, cartoons nowadays (oh god, i sound like an old man) aren't worth watching at all.
I used to watch Dexter's Lab religiously. Aah Real Monsters! too. god, those were the days. *OD's on prune juice*

I saw an ep of Adventure time and it was a little too absurd for me...
But I mean like super hero cartoons with decent plots or just a PLOT! Yeah there great ones with day by day plots like Dexters or The PPG ( heart ) but even good ones like those don't last long. I really liked Chowder and Flapjack, but look at those now... they're canceled.

I love adventure time.... like crazy. Probably cuz I'm weird. XDD
> ; > Last time I watched tv was when Avatar was on but I liked Ben 10 whenever I saw it. It was interesting...
D; Not much is on I guess. Mostly junk. I miss all the good cartoons. It's like: It's been done. So they just pump out garbage and kids watch it. = 3 = ;; They don't teach valuable lessons anymore. Example! In Gargoyles they taught kids that guns were bad because in one episode someone was playing with a gun and shot someone... So ya... :I I don't see this important lesson getting shown in any cartoons.

I watch the children channel everyday when it's on. But there's really nothing that interest me. I do like some of the shows they show like 'Dead Gorgous' (<.< Cant spell....) but cartoons...nope.
I used to love watching anything on cartoon network. I remember PPGs and Dexter. Plus other ones from when I was like 6 was like Tabaluka (Which I'm sure I spelt wrong), And Rugrats. Used to watch it everytime it was on.. Ah good times.

Chowder wasn't canceled...it finished...there is a difference <<;;...but yeah most cartoons nowadays with plots are hard to find, more then likely your better off watching the comedy ones like Chowder and Spongebob.

Oh yeah, finished. But it didn't last much long and I really liked it.
Spongebob grew on me over the years and I do like it and Fairly Odd Parents. I also liked Danny Phantom and was surprised they gave it a real plot and not a monster-of-the-day it seemed to be at first.

I would recommend Sym-Bionic Titan! It's a new show on CN that comes from the creator of Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack.
I've also been watching Generator Rex. It's not the most amazing thing in the world, but I think the story is interesting.
I watched a lot of Saturday morning cartoons when I was kid, like Doug, Pepper Ann, Recess. We didn't have cable yet so I probably missed out on a lot of good stuff.

Good cartoons are definitely dead. There's way too many good oldies I would be all over if they were still on the air.
But I would also highly recommend Adventure Time! It makes me feel like I'm eight years old again, haha. You just have to watch it with an open mind. rofl

^ Dr. Venture shares your outrage. But its true. Cartoons now only try to be as good as the older cartoons. and if they ARE good, they usually don't have that long of a run. Teen Titans, Secret Saturdays, X-Men Evolution, Chowder... just a few of the "New" good cartoons that got canceled or ended.

I agree that the quality of most cartoons has gone down. :< Most of the ones I see nowadays are dumb and silly with no redeeming qualities.
I remember watching Gargoyles...<3 And X-Men, and I think there was another one involving mummies but I can't remember the full name...Mummies Ressurected? Mummies...something. Something mummis. D:

I freaking LOVE adventure time <3
As for oldies... let's see...
Dexter's Lab Powerpuff Girls Johnny Bravo Rugrats Gargoyles Mummies Alive X-Men Samurai Jack
And that was just as a small child. I kept up with a few cartoons as of late, and to be honest, they were still quite enjoyable. Spongebob Squarepants and Fairly Odd Parents just to name a couple. There was also Danny Phantom, but because the target audience was younger teens, who tend not to watch cartoons, it didn't get a lot of reception, which was a shame.
I have heard though, that a rumor is spreading of a Samurai Jack movie to wrap everything up.

I think I heard something about a Samurai Jack movie too
And Rai, I would do that too! Only I walked home from school, my mom would probably yell at me about something the second I walked inside, I'd hurry to my room with a snack and watch Sailor Moon XD
