I'm not that a much of believer in god, part of me believes that someone just made this up to make people believe that there is a afterlife. Another part of me believes that there is a higher being. So i just want some of your opinions about this. biggrin

There is a new movie with Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones called the Sunset Limited by HBO.. I really believe you would be interested in this because..It gives two different views on God and beliefs.. Its on this month.
My particular view is that yes Charlie Brown There is a GOD.
Its amazing how much my views are like Samuel l Jackson in this movie.. I just don't believe that everything should be taken so literally....ex; the bible..
I Believe all paths lead to GOD whatever religion people call it...XD
Hope you get a chance to see it... Very powerful and its not a religious movie..Oo ^^

I find myself asking myself this question often lately... It's so hard to see a higher being in all the unfortunate things that happen in the world, but I believe there is a God. I don't see it in church, mosques, or monasteries, or temples, I see it in the good deeds people do, in the person helping another out in times of hardship, in the people I meet each day.

Some people might say there is more than one god, why ask if there's just one?

Yeah, pretty sure there is one.

Yes, there is.
In my opinion asking if you believe in god is a form of believing in its extensive just not following god's "path" or being a believer.
Its hard to explain and made way more sense in my head...

In those places you don't 'see' God...you simply go there to pray, to ask for help from elders etc.

I believe in God. I know that the world is soo full of bad, but it is also full of good. Besides this, I think God gave us free will and choice in how we live our lives, that is why bad things happen, cause as a species, humans let them or cause them or want them.
God can't interfere, or at least not much, then he would be taking away our free will.

In truth, I am not too sure what's up there, if there is anything at all. I feel that there might be some sort of great being, though I question their judgement often. I also believe there might be some place for the spirits of the dead to go to. Other than that, I have no idea.

No why should I? What did he do to deserve my time saying prayers and going to church on sundays, I once prayed I win the lotto and I didn't, there for he doesn't exist for me.

Religion has the greatest story ever told... Think about it, religion has convinced people that theres an invizible man living in the sky watching everything you do every minut of every day, and the invizible man has an list of 10 things he does not want you to do, and if you do any of those 10 things he has an special place full of fire and smoke and burning torture where he will send you to live and sufer and burn, choke, scream and cry for ever and ever until the end of time, but he loves you....

EDIT: I still hold the same position, I just wanted to add some things.

All religions were created by humans. Every god, every story, every rule - they were all created by humans. And it goes without saying that humans err. A LOT. They also lie. A LOT. Some even lie so well, they convince themselves that their lie is the truth. In the end, before we can judge whether there is a god, we must judge first whether we can trust what a human says God is, what God does, what God says, and what God wants. Always have the faults of humans in mind when making a decision, especially about religion.
