I'm new here. I actually just introduced myself, but something bad just happened and i dont know what to do; My boyfriend just told me that his parents don't want him to date a girl who is under 18. I'm gonna be 17 next month and he's only 19. He said that we can be good friends but i dont think he'll wait for me for one whole year until i turn 18. I am really hurt by it because i really like him and he really likes me and i know its not his fault but i just dont know what to do or how to feel.

If he is 19 and he really likes you then he shouldn't care what his parents say because technically he is old enough that he doesn't have to listen to them. And i don't see why they wouldn't want him to date you, its not like it is illegal for you to date, you're older than 16. But since he did what they said and didn't fight for you then he isn't worth it but you will find someone who will fight for you one day so don't freak out about it to much. It just wasn't ment to be.

Well, depending on where you live...legally you should be fine. Also, legally, he's old enough to make his own decisions...despite what mommy and daddy may want.
But if he's not willing to wait for you or fight for you then, he's not worth it--at least in my opinion. You're young, the pain will ease with time and there will be plenty of other guys out there.

Well looks like these two beat me to it.
I suggest chocolate, icecream and your favourite movies and music. And a really big pillow. ♥

Agree with all of the above.
Also, maybe, if you two stay broken up, you might meet up again in the future, after you've grown and matured into different people. The romance might be even greater after your time apart, and you've both experienced great things.
Time apart might not necessarily mean a bad outcome.
My best friend has been dating her boyfriend for over two years now; this is actually their second time together. The first time was kind of a horrible crash-and-burn scenario, but after several years-- during which she met, dated, and broke up with various other (horrible :[ ) guys-- she learned to appreciate him for how wonderful he truly is. Their relationship probably would not have been this great if they hadn't been apart.

Way I see it. If he really loves you, he'd wait or make his own decision. Either way that would mean he cares to keep what you have. razz

Either he's a puss for listening to his parents or he's lying to you.
