Ki sat at the edge of the forest looking at the lands of his tribe. They had finally made it. Before Ki had even landed, he could tell that his mother, father, and two of his brothers were absent from the lands. But he wasn't to bothered by that fact. The one he really wanted to find was Caelan.

"Welcome to Kurai lands." Ki said to the vixen by his side. "It's not much to look at, but it's home." Fog was drifting off of ghost lake, as always, giving the land an erie look to it. The erie look of their land had never bothered Ki though. He looked to Aruna to see her reaction to the land. He had to remind himself that she had already been here once when she was younger.

Aruna looked around the vaguely familiar lands. It had been a long time, and she hadn't stayed for too long the last time. "Oddly enough, I believe we're around the same area I first arrived at," Aruna said, still looking around distractedly. The lake, just barely visible beneath the fog, attracted her attention the most.

"So is there a story behind these grounds or something," she asked, glancing back up at Ki. She had almost forgotten why they had come to Kurai in the first place. "Oh," she mumbled, looking around. She couldn't see very far away from them, but Caelan's scent was very nearby. Intersting that she still recognized him, even after all this time. Then again, the scent reminded her of her mother.

"I think Caelan's on his way," she informed Ki.

Indeed the BCR-toting Caelan was heading over to the lake to investigate the presence of the two foxes. One wasn't so weird. He knew of the family of 'Daeva's, fellow members of Kurai, and that this was one of them. The other, perplexed him. He knew who it might be, but couldn't. Aruna had to still be living with his mother, Terra, in Kousetsu, right? Then again, the kit wasn't too fond of the snow.

Caelan was pretty sure Aruna wasn't even a kit anymore, anyway. In any case, it couldn't possibly be his half-sister. He had mentioned Kurai to her a bit, the last time they saw each other, but why would she care enough to come here? How did she even find it? And why was she with a 'Daeva?

Caelan couldn't tell which of the brothers this was, and hoped his sister was safe with him, given that this vixen was, indeed, her. But as he drew closer through the fog, BCR's jingling lightly against each other on his ankle, it became clear that she was. Not only was the scent unmistakably related to him, but the first thing visible through the mist, alongside the 'Daeva's fire, was the one that undoubtedly burned on her ear.

"Aruna!" He called out, lightly trotting until he reached the two. He still had to keep his own children safe, after all. Caelan noticed, as he slowed to a stop, that the 'Daeva she was with was Ki, one of the less hostile brothers. Though they had never given him any trouble, he had heard stories. He nodded briefly to him before turning back to his sister. "Aruna..." He repeated, though slowly this time, "what exactly are you doing here?"

Aruna started in the direction of her quickly approaching brother, waiting for him to appear through the thick fog. When he finally did, and questioned her about her presence, she simply smiled. "Well I was hear a long time ago," she explained, "but I couldn't find you so I just left. Then I met Ki, so we came back here."

Ki was about to respond that he couldn't remember much of the tribes lore when Aruna remembered what she was supposed to be doing; finding her brother. He had caught the somewhat familiar scent right before Aruna had announced that he was coming this way. For a moment, Ki wondered what Caelan would think of him, sitting there with his younger sister. But did it really matter what he though? Ki huffed at the idea.

The 'Daeva nodded to the older tribesmen in return and had to admit he felt a bit awkward sitting there. He couldn't tell if Cealan was glad to be reunited with his sister, well half-sister, or not. But then again, his tribe wasn't one for warm emotions. Ki waited until Aruna had finished talking before deciding to speak.

"You have interesting blood relations, Cealan." Ki said with a sort of smile. He figured he should say more but was at a loss for words and figured it was best to let the two get reacquainted.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 03, 2011 11:28 pm

Caelan glanced between the two of them. Weird. Kind of fitting. He wondered about the relationship between the two. Were they mates? How long ago did they meet? His gaze fell upon Ki again. He couldn't exactly question Aruna with him here. It wasn't considered good form. Or something. Besides, Caelan could wait. He hadn't inherited the insatiable curiousity of their mother, Terra.

At Ki's comment, Caelan chuckled slightly, and nodded. "I'm glad you approve," he said dryly, though a small grin appeared on his lips. "Frankly, I was worried for a second. I thought you might have been one of your brothers." Caelan doubted that such a statement could offend the 'Daeva. Though he was sure they were as close as 'Daeva siblings could be, they were still 'Daevas.

He looked back at Aruna again. "So, how exactly did you two meet?" He asked. "And why did you both decide to come back here? Certainly not just for my sake, right?"

Aruna laughed, it was the same old, dry-humored Caelan. Of that, she was sure. "We just met, that's all," Aruna answered, rolling her eyes until they landed on the BCRs. "How exactly did you meet the mother of your children?" She asked, mimicking his own question. Aruna knew he wouldn't take her too seriously, but she was curious. She didn't even know he had a mate -- given that this vixen was his mate -- let alone children.

When she saw that her question was being resolutely ignored by her brother, Aruna gave a sigh of annoyance and pettily ignored his second question.

Ki nodded thoughtfully at Caelan's statement. "That would be cause for worry." He sniffed the air around them and quickly caught the scent of her older brother Agni. "And seeing that one of them is around, I wouldn't put that worry out of mind just yet."

It was easy to see that Caelan wanted to talk to Aruna without his presence so dismissed himself for a moment and walked to the edge of the lake. He could hear the older tribesmen questioning his traveling partner and her questioning him the same. Ah, sibling love.

"You never were good at hide and seek, Agni." Ki said to his brother who was trying, and failing, to hide his presence in the fog.

"Who said I was hiding?" Agni asked as he gave up his position and walked closer towards his brother. "I was merely observing form afar." He eyed his brother carefully, trying to figure out why he had shown up with a normal vixen. Trying to figure Ki out was one of the hardest things Agni had ever tried to do. He didn't work like the rest of the family. He was different.

"So who's the girl?" Agni asked when Ki just stared back at him unamused.

Caelan watched Ki wander off a little ways, presumably to speak with Agni, and maybe give time to talk in private. "So, when did you two meet, exactly?" Caelan began the questioning. "And when did you leave Mother? And you said something about coming here a long time ago to find me?" Caelan debated mentally on whether he wanted to pause and allow her to answer questions, or if he just wanted to get all of his out there. He quickly decided on the latter.

"What of your other siblings, have they already left Kousetsu as well? And where did you go after you left Kurai the last time? How'd you meet Ki? And what have you guys been talking about that led back to here?" Caelan paused for a breath. Heh, sure he didn't inherit that curiousity of Terra's. He gave Aruna an expectant look and awaited her answer. Answers. Regardless.

Aruna sighed, listening to her brother's endless questioning. As she listened, her eyes wandered over to Ki, where he stood by the lake, and by his older brother. She wondered which it was. Agni? Or one of the other two. She almost chuckled, remembering Caelan's earlier comment about Ki's brothers. At least he approved on Ki more than he did the others.

Not that it really mattered, either way, Aruna thought. Right? Because it didn't, really. Aruna mentally shook her head of the thoughts, remembering to listen to her own older brother. It would probably be a good idea to answer the myrriad of questions that he was practically assaulting her with.

Finally he stopped, she could tell from his panting, and it was finally her turn. With a deep breath, she began, "Well, we met just earlier today, and I left Mother and Kousetsu when I was still a kit. And then came to find you here. Embry and Ilario left Kousetsu at around the same time as well. Considering Father, it's not too surprising. We weren't right for the Snow Tribe. After leaving Kurai, I just sort of wandered around. I met Ki on a mountain not too far away." She paused a moment, before saying, "Well, it's not too far away if you fly, but by walking it's pretty far. And we just talked about a lot of different things, I don't know. But when he mentioned Kurai, I mentioned you, and now here we are." Aruna ended with a nother deep breath, then shrugged and looked at Caelan with an expression that clearly said 'You satisfied?' At his nod, she smiled.

Ki looked from his brother to Aruna and back. Who she was, was a simple question but it made Ki wonder what she was to him. Which also led him to wonder who he was to her. The fox that brought her to her bother? A travel partner? Ki couldn't shake the feeling that he had made some sort of connection with Aruna. A connection that he was sure his family wouldn't be to crazy about.

"She's Caelan's sister. Well, half sister, really but she's Caelan's blood." Ki replied to Agni hoping that would end the conversation. Unfortunately, it didn't.

"Caelan's sis, huh?" Agni said while looking over the vixen with the flame on her ear. "How'd you figure that out? I didn't take you for one who'd just sit and mingle for common vixens." Ki wasn't one to mingle with common vixens. None of them were. But if Ki had gone so far out of his way to bring her here then there must be something special about her. Maybe it was the whole 'her ear is on fire' thing. Hrm.

Now focused on Aruna, Agni deserted his brother by the lake and trotted over to the other pair of siblings.

"Ki tells me you have family in town, Caelan." Agni said as he circled Aruna, eyeing her intently. "Honestly I expected more. You sure you're realated to this?" Agni nodded to Aruna and snickered.

Ki sighed as Agni took off in the direction of Aruna and her brother. This was not going to end well. Why did Agni have to be here? Ki took a few deep breaths before heading back to the others. He arrived just in time to hear Agni's last comment and threw his brother a dangerous look.

"Watch it Agni."
PostPosted: Wed Jan 05, 2011 10:11 pm

Caelan's eyes narrowed slightly, but he showed no other outward display of annoyance. He watched Agni's movements carefully, as Aruna was circled, but knew he couldn't do much about it. Even with Ki's potential help, picking a fight with Agni would be a terrible idea. Besides, it was no big deal. Yet.

With a controlled, yet cold voice, Caelan replied with a short, "Yes." He took only a moment to glance at Ki, wondering if he would step in. Well, the short warning was good enough, given the situation. He went back to watching Agni, in case the hot-tempered 'Daeva did something.

So it was Agni. The brother Ki had warned her the most about. Aruna could see why now, too. She had to -- almost literally -- hold her tongue at his comments. A glance at Caelan informed her of how tense he was in the situation. He was a very protective older brother, even if they hadn't seen each other in years. He reminded her of Uncle Kyou, except Caelan probably had a little more tact.

Hence why Caelan refused to speak much to Agni, even in her defense. Her safety was much more important to him than her dignity, and reasonably so. Aruna agreed. But when she finally saw Ki reappear from the fog-covered area by the lake, she felt safer. Even with Agni circling her.

"So you're Agni," Aruna said, examining the other 'Daeva as he examined her. "... Interesting." She said nothing more, allowing him to interpret what he wanted to from that statement. From the corner of her eye, she say Caelan's glare momentarily direct itself at her.

Interesting? What on earth did she mean by that? Agni couldn't help but drop the big bad 'daeva pose and give a confused look to Ki. "Interesting? What does that mean?"

Ki almost couldn't help but smile when Agni turned to him confused. It obviously wasn't what he was expecting her to say. "You don't know what interesting means?" Ki moved to stand beside Aruna and Caelan. "Sorry, you'll have to use a smaller vocabulary with him." Ki said to Aruna almost as if he were a teacher lecturing her on how to behave.

Gah! Ki was doing that thing again! Making him look stupid in front of everyone else. Ki always took everything he said and used it against him. Agni knew he could beat Ki down, if he could catch him, physically but he never stood a chance when it came to word battles.

"Don't even go there, Ki." Agni said forcefully, trying not to bare his fangs. For once, Agni did no wish to fight. Especially not in front of an older tribe mate. "I mean, why would she say that. She say's it like she's heard of me before."

"We did travel awhile together. Your name might have come up once or twice. You know how I love to talk about your charming personality." Although it was clear that Agni and Caelan were on edge, Ki remained completely at ease. He was fairly confident that Agni wouldn't try to pull anything with them. He just needed to ruffle Agni up enough to make him storm off, then he could let Aruna and Caelan get back to catching up.
PostPosted: Wed Jan 05, 2011 11:11 pm

Auna was infinitely amused by the bantering between the two brothers. Agni seemed to be holding himself back, perhaps due to Caelan's presence. He was a good friend of the soon to be Elder, after all. Otherwise, he probably would have attacked Ki already. Well, according to what Ki had told her, anyways.

She was glad he finally stopped circling her, anyways. It reminded her of when she and Ki first met, although the subsequent conversations and relationships with Agni would probably turn out very different. Thinking of Ki, she glanced back up at him. He didn't seem very worried about the situation.

Caelan also noticed this, and calmed a little as well. He remained wary, though, for that was always the smartest option. Especially with the BCRs around his ankle. The fox made a mental note to thank Ki later. He was glad that this 'Daeva was on his side at the moment, when there were o many people he felt the urge to protect at the moment.

Agni grunted and rolled his eyes at his brother's comment. There was obviously no winning this battle. With a huff, Agni laid down and gave a small glare to his brother.

"So why is she here? Just for a family visit?" Agni noticed the glare and head nod Ki gave him and sighed. He figured any vixen brave enough to travel with a 'Daeva, even if Ki was a push over 'Daeva, was worthy enough for him to talk to. "Why are you here? Family visit?" He asked Aruna almost through gritted teeth. Being nice was one thing he was never good at.

Agni was laying down? That was a good sign; he was giving up on this fight. Despite how Ki loved to make fun of his brothers ignorance, he knew Agni was smart enough to know that three on one was not a wise choice. Although Ki really wanted his older brother to leave them in peace, he would settle for him just laying there. At least he was no longer a threat. An annoyance, yes, but a threat, no.

When Agni spoke to him next Ki glared at him and nodded his head towards Aruna in a manner that said 'Ask her yourself'. A smile played at his mouth as his brother redirected the question.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 06, 2011 6:53 pm

Try as she might, Aruna could not hide the amused look that appeared on her face. She had noticed Ki's nod towards herself, and the strained question that was directed at her. "Kind of," she replied, suppressing a chuckle. "I was visiting him in order to join, actually." Aruna was smirking now, hoping Agni's reaction would be interesting and fun. She wasn't sure if it would, since the presence of Ki and Caelan seemed to subdue him a little.

Caelan remained silent, not having anything to say at the moment. Again he found himself thankful for Ki. At least he knew how to deal with his brother. At Aruna's answer, his gaze snapped to her. "What? I didn't know that," he said, though he hadn't meant to ask then and there.

Aruna simply smiled innocently at her older brother. "Right, must have forgotten to mention that," she replied. "It had been my intention when I first sought you out, as a kit."

Agni's ears perked up at Aruna's answer. She wanted to join them? Why the hell would she want to do that? Ki had brought her here to join? Agni stared at his brother with wide eyes for a moment before laughing to himself. Surely this was just another one of Ki's tricks. Surely he knew that this little vixen wouldn't be able to stand their tribe and would run home crying. Surely he was just messing with her like he did everyone else.

"Ha. You won't last two seconds here once Ki deserts you and Caelan turns his back, kid." Agni said with a smirk.

Ki couldn't help but be rather amused by his brothers reaction. It was clear by his words that Agni had yet to realize that Ki actually cared about the safety of a 'normal vixen'.

"Oh brother, how little you know me.Did you really think I'd bring someone here who couldn't protect themselves?" Ki chuckled as he sat and swished his tail. "I believe Aruna here has a much better chance of surviving alone than you do. She can actually think." A wicked smirk spread across his face as he spoke to the other 'Daeva. "And furthermore, I will not be deserting Aruna." He finished with that, letting the realization of the situation sink into his brothers mind.

Ki turned to Caelan and nodded. "Aruna mentioned you when I brought up the tribe and said she wished to see you again as well as join. Since her journey here as a kit was unsuccessful, I took it upon myself to see that she got here, and to you, safely."
PostPosted: Fri Jan 07, 2011 12:04 am

Agni's retort threw Aruna off a lot. She couldn't even think of anything to say, but was glad she didn't have to. She looked at Ki as he spoke. His words brought a small smile to her face. He stood up for her, and ensured his brother wasn't just messing with her mind. Aruna was no longer compelled to questions whether he was lying or not. They had already had this conversation, and she inexplicably trusted him.

Caelan just rolled his eyes at Agni's words. Regardless of how truthful Agni's words may be about Ki -- who Caelan was still debating about -- he knew that he could never turn his back on his sister. And he was sure Aruna knew that just as well as he did. He glanced at her now, awaitng some sort of witty retort. The next words, though, were clearly not hers.

The fox wasn't exactly disappointed by Ki's witty retorts, merely caught off guard when he found they weren't being said by his sister. And what was she doing? Staring at Ki and smiling. For some reason. Not wanting to know what that was all about, he looked back at Ki, whe was adressing him.

"I see," he responded, glancing again between the 'Daeva and his sister. "Kind of you to bring her here, Ki." His gaze fell back on his sister. He added, "Though I'm still not sure why I wasn't informed of this before."

Aruna snapped out of her little 'trance' and her eyes found Caelan's as he awaited an explanation. "Because I haven't seen you since now, probably," Aruna replied, slightly exasperated.

"You still could have discussed this with me first, before deciding," Caelan grumbled, though knowing that it didn't really matter anymore. Not much would change her mind, now. Especially if she had been talking about the tribe with Ki, and was still determined to enter.

Ki nodded as Caelan addressed him and sort of thanked him for bringing his sister safely to the tribe. The large 'Daeva thought it was highly interesting to see how Aruna acted with her brother. Even though he knew they hadn't seen each other in some time, they acted as if they grew up together; like true siblings.

"Seems as though Aruna isn't the only new member arriving to the tribe lands though." Ki said amused as he gestured to the BCR's around Caelan's paws. It seemed that Aruna's already large family was about to expand a bit. "Just out of curiosity, is their mother from around here?"

Wait, what did he mean by that? Of course he would desert her. She was just some normal fox with relations to a tribe member. He was a 'Daeva, superior to those lesser foxes. Why the hell would Ki even bother..... No. No, no, no.

"Wait!" Agni said standing abruptly. He hadn't been listening to the conversation and didn't noticed that they had moved off the topic of Aruna. "Wait. You... You care about her? Dude. What the hell? That's... disturbing." Agni was staring at his brother in both shock and disgust. "I mean, no offence to either of you," he looked to Caelan and Aruna, "But Ki, you're better than that. I mean seriously. You're a 'Daeva."

Ki gave a sigh and turned form Caelan to his brother. He waited until his brother was finished with his speech before giving Aruna an amused look. "Wow, Agni. I didn't think you'd take the news so hard. I know you've been trying to snag a vixen of your own for awhile now but I didn't think you'd get this jealous when I brought one home. I thought you'd be happy for me." Ki couldn't help but feign a hurt expression.
