Little bit of background information: I work at an academic research institution. I do telephone surveys, and most of the surveys we get are on behalf of the Canadian government. In the case of the one I'm presently working on, it's for the health department.
The other day, I phoned this one woman up, who was nice, but absolutely batshit insane. A survey that normally takes 15 minutes on average per person took her 50 to complete, because she kept going off on all sorts of unrelated tangents instead of answering the questions. That wouldn't have bothered me so much, but she was also both depressing and INCREDIBLY disturbing to talk to. When she mentioned she takes 20 different medications a day, I thought "Well, that explains it".

I actually have a dance class with someone who is kinda like that. However, she's not medicated, and she's sure that if you have issues she can't act as your therapist, but she basically demands that you do the honors for her when she has a crisis.
Sne is of the most self-absorbed people I've ever met. Unfortunately, she's also a great dancer and teacher, and as such, I'm loathe to say, "Enough!"
I am, however, sick of the demanding phone calls that I get from her while I am at work, telling me I need to help her find new recruits, or to move her stuff, or organize her life. Or that I need to go to a nearby town to pick up her dry-cleaning because she's got a phobia about driving highways. Or over over-passes.
She had a home fire recently, and she's a bit hard to take sometimes...mostly because she seems to feel like she deserves every bit of my undying attention and adulations...whether or not I'm inclined to help her.
At least yours doesn't know you personally, neh?

God bless the crazy people. They need divine forbearance. I was married to one, and I am infinitely grateful that I don't have to live with all that swirling around in my own head. I really don't think I could bear it. So, as annoying as he is to be around, I just think about how hideous it would be to actually be him, and then it doesn't seem so bad.

Speaking of crazy people, my housemate stole something of mine a few days ago. Nothing too expensive, mind you. The thing she stole w as a half used bottle of soap. Heh, go figure...
